I love my Korean soups so I'm always on the lookout to try new Korean soup spots. As soon as a Korean colleague recommended this spot for its authentic dishes, I knew a visit was overdue! Also, they have a $15 weekday lunch special for certain soups and if I had a big appetite, I would have ordered one of each HAHAHA. This is located in the Amerige Heights plaza and is on the same side of the plaza as 88 Katsu and Dookki. Around 11:30ish on a weekday, it was relatively easy to find parking. There's plenty of seating inside. We were able to be seated immediately. I like that they give you barley tea instead of just the typical water. The servers may not speak perfect English but at least their menu has photos and english translation, so don't be hesitant in trying them out. I was craving something comforting and I was feeling adventurous, so I went for the Soondae Guk, which consists of Korean blood sausage, intestines, stomach, etc. I personally love eating those so this was not a challenge for me. You can choose between non-spicy or spicy, just make sure to let them know when you order if they forget to ask. I was super delighted when it came out because they packed so much stuff in my soup!! Don't forget to flavor your soup with some salt that they have set aside. If you use the shrimp paste, just be aware that it's extremely salty. You can add it to the broth or put some on your rice. My other coworkers got the Yukgae Jang as she was craving something more flavorful and spicy, and the portions were very generous! The Pork Belly soup looked quite comforting as well. The server was constantly on the lookout and made sure to refill any side dishes that we wanted. Our group loved the fish cakes and pickled radish. I definitely need to be back before the $15 lunch special is over, gotta try them all! read more

Decided to check this spot out since we were in the area. It was just the two of us and we got 2 dishes but we still couldn't finish it. Korean portions are insaneeee! We had to get the Galbi Tang- ox tail were sooo tender, fell off the bone. With the glass noodles and yummy broth. I wish there were more glass noodles in there. Served with a side of rice. Good size. We were able to finish it! Bossam- it was brought out and placed on the little stove at the table to be kept hot. I wish it came with more cabbage. I felt like I was rationing it but at the end we still didn't finish this dish. I love that shrimp thing it was comes with. Perfect with the bossam. So many side dishes and the kimchi was delicious!! There were two ladies working: one to take your order or refill your banchan and one in the kitchen cooking. Although there was a language barrier, both ladies were very nice. Came here for the lunch special, and it's a steal for these days. $15 for a big bowl of noodle soup with sides. You can't go wrong with that these days. It's a cute restaurant on the inside, and I nerded out for the tables. There is a drawer at each table with all your utensils you need in there. Very carefully placed, and it just made my experience much better just seeing that. The food was delicious. The Yukgae Jung was packed and very hearty. The banchan was really good as well! my friend loved the fish cake and my fave was the kimchi that's was perfectly fresh and spicy! Portions for the pork belly soup was good but the ox knee soup was lacking a little bit of meat in my opinion. When we asked for a container to pack some of the banchan home they didn't let us. Really great korean comfort food, I went in during lunch to grab a bite. They have a lunch special $14.99 with a set menu includes mostly hot soups and cold noodles (Naenmyeon). I got the Yukgaejang and my friend got the Naenmyeon. Yukgaejang was slightly spicy with shredded brisket, egg and bracken fern (Gosari). It also came with glass noodles and a bowl of rice. The portions are big, I saved half for leftovers. The Barley Tea is refreshing and light perfect to the meal. The Banchan was pleasant, the kimchi is a good tell and it didn't disappoint. Not too fermented but not super fresh where the marinade didn't seep through. The radish, fish cakes, bean sprouts were average. I asked about the lunch specials since the online image didn't specify whether it was weekday only or that included weekends. Found out it was weekday only so a little disappointed and made a big difference in price since I was thinking of getting a yukgaejang but prices here on weekends is pricier than other korean soup places while the food was honestly slightly underwhelming for the price. If the quality of the food was above other places or prices were on par with other places I would rate it higher, but weekday lunch special prices make more sense than regular hour pricing. read more

I went there for lunch recently for the first time in years, and the prices were the same as 7-8 years ago. The free side dishes were also delicious. These days, dining out is so expensive that it's hard to choose a restaurant, but I think the owner made a very wise decision. Professionalism and basic courtesy should be consistent regardless of tipping.
