Delicious authentic food with rotating side dishes menu! 닭백숙 is delicious especially with the abalone on top. Recently tried the gamjatang and it was a little salty but still good! They have really good banchan that suits my taste and preferences so I really enjoy coming to this restaurant. The only downside is that the parking lot is small so once it's full, it's full. So glad we found this Korean restaurant to try while we were in the area for a doctors visit. We stopped for lunch and I ordered the al jiggae (spicy fish roe soup) while my husband got the kalbi & nengmyun combo. They brought out the spread of banchans first which had a nice (but small) selection followed by our main dishes. The soup came out sizzling hot and at first bite, I knew I was a big fan of this spot. The broth was refreshing with a deep flavor and loved the fact that they didn't skimp on the fish roe eggs. While we were sitting, I noticed that they had a menu on the wall with well priced lunch options that had a bunch of options I'd want to try on a future visit. In an area where there's a ton of great korean restaurants, it was my first time visiting this place that features good variety of korean traditional menus. And probably the last. Ordered a combo of bulgogi and soybean paste soup (dwenjang jjigae). At initial look, they looked good in distance as they were arriving. Bulgogi was served on cast iron plate, the one that usually sizzles at other places, and soup served in clay pot, the one that usually boils at other places. Then to my surprise when the two arrived, no sizzle and no boil. Not even steam. Both plates were luke warm! My best guess is that they sat after being cooked too long before one of the four staff ladies sitting in corner chatting realized it's been sitting too long. The spicy braised short ribs is so flavorful ( must try ), it comes with radish and rice cake. The beef soup reminds you in Korea, no MSG! And the seafood onion pancake is huge, good to share. We got the bossam + fresh oyster and braised fish (dunno the English translation - silver cod?). These two dishes easily filled a family of 4 with some leftovers. Grilled mackerel-- sooo good. I opted for the lunch special $16.99 which came with half (1 filet) of a mackerel, a miso-based soup, rice, and banchan. It was grilled to perfection, lots of crispy edges, but super soft and oily on the inside. It hit the spot. Seafood pancake (hameul pajeon) -- Daom's version just might be my favorite to date. It is pricier $27.99 than most I've had, but given that it contains seafood and was pretty generously portioned, the price point was understandable. I loved that they shredded the imitation crab meat and used it as a sort of crust on the exterior of the pancake. It added a lot of crispy edges. It was so flavorful that I didn't even need the seasoned soy sauce it came with. I also throughly enjoyed the banchan. We had acorn jelly, napa kimchi, seaweed salad and fish cake! They were thoughtful about wrapping the banchan in plastic wrap since there wouldn't be any leakage. I look forward to dining in person next time! Finally sunshine is coming back to California, and that's the great weather for some Cold noodles. It was my first time to try the combo of cold noodles and beef short ribs from daom_koreanrestaurant in Buena Park location. The short ribs was so good with right balance of sweet and savory. And the meat was a great combo with the cold noodles which was so refreshing. Also their banchan are so delicious, they have sweet apples with potato salad which is my favorite and I never saw it the other Korean restaurant . The menu posted on the wall by each table is not accurate. Not all the dishes are available nor is the pricing correct. The print size is pretty small so my dad had a tough time ordering. They brought out a printed menu, but it was old and out of date, even less accurate and smaller - worse trying to read the tiny menu. Anyhow we ended up with bossam $50 (? I forget the price), it was good. And spicy squid stirfry $40. Not a great value for what you get. The banchan's were not made with taste in mind. They were all cut so big, like for a meat stew and just made in a basic manner. It missed the details and excellence in taste it once had. Service was ok, but they didn't have basic stuff like galbi. cozy & authentic korean food! the service here was quick & kind. water was never empty & they helped us with trying a new dish! we ordered their: beef tartare, grilled eel, and spicy stir fried pork belly w/ kimchi. additionally, they serve quite a bit of banchan too which was all really good. the beef tartare came out first. there was a raw egg yolk on top w/ sliced apple sticks & microgreens. the apple was a nice addition to the beef tartare since it provided a clean crunch. the grilled eel came out piping hot and it was delicious!! the sauce complimented the eel very well- not too overpowering nor too sweet. it was a nice portion too. lastly, the spicy stir fried pork belly & kimchi is a must have! pork belly on its own is yummy & tender but combined with their kimchi, it elevates the whole dish. the kimchi flavor was strong & did not lack any punch. the tofu absorbed the sauce very well too! overall, it was a great meal & would come back to try more of their menu :) p.s. their barley tea is refreshing ! read more

Got together with a friend who was craving Bossam and we ended up here for the evening! The restaurant is located in a small lot with ample parking (a bit tight so plan to carpool with a big party). The waitresses were nice and you could tell this restaurant is very down to earth, traditional Korean comfort food. They started us off with barley tea and we ordered the Bossam and oyster combo with a gamjatang on the side. The food came out super fast and there was a nice array of banchan on the side. Just when you think that Buena Park has enough Korean restaurants, a new one seems to open up, right? Well, you definitely do have a lot of spots to choose from, but most of them don't live up to the traditional Korean standard. This place, however, is different from most. First off, the lady working when I checked in, had the most pleasant service. Growing up and trying a lot of Asian restaurants, especially Korean ones, it's really rare to find a place that has great service. with that being said, major thumbs up to you. I went in on a rainy Sunday afternoon and we must've just missed the lunch rush after those Korean churches finishing their sessions, which was great. This place does offer a decent sized parking lot for how small the restaurant is. Their menu is pretty straight forward and I went along with their Dolsot Bibimbap (Assorted Veggie Bibimbap on Stone Grill): The portions for this is pretty big and it comes with a bottle of their homemade gochujang. Make sure you mix it up well then add in the sauce, tasting it as you go. The dish itself was pretty generous with the vdggies and meat. It was pretty decent, however, the gochujang wasn't as flavorful as I would've wanted it to be. Along with that, the meat and veggies didn't have a bursting amount of flavor as well. So here's the thing: their banchan (side dishes) were really good. I wasn't able to try them all because there were so many and the portions were great on that too! My friend got the Yukgaejang (Spicy Beef Soup). He said it was really tasty and I believe it. I will have to get that next time around. With that being said, very good Korean restaurant with great service. Prices are fair, especially because the portions are great. They're sitll pretty new, so i'm sure they're working on the flavors and menu a bit. They have a good variety of alcohol as well and the prices seemed pretty fair as well. My mom and I were craving some good home style Korean food and she mentioned this place as she's been here before. Moving to the Norwalk area, it was a mission now to find new places to eat. When we first came here it was close to closing hour so we were lucky to get seated but was given a time frame, which was understandable. The inside is a bit small but spacious. The menu has a little bit of everything from appetizers, soups, meat and seafood dishes etc. I love when they come out with banchan (side dishes) instead of just kimchi as the banchan. The banchan are pretty good. More hits than misses. The last time we were here they had this potato salad that may have been pumpkin as it was yellow and slightly sweet. It was so damn good. _Spicy Braised Belt Fish ($38.99) I love belt fish and my mom would always make this growing up so she ordered this for us. I have a very low tolerance to spice so don't take my word for this, but to me this was very spicy. In a way that was addicting because I kept eating it while I was sweating and had a runny nose. Definitely on the salty side. I was not a huge fan and would have preferred it pan fried but to each their own. _Grilled Atka Mackerel w/Soybean paste soup ($25.99) The fish was huge! Grilled perfectly, a bit crisp on the outside and flaky on the inside. Very subtle in flavor and a bit of an oily fish. The soybean paste soup was a great pairing but also a bit salty for me. This is usually my mom's and I go to dish as it's big enough to share as well. _Cold Buckwheat Jelly Soup ($12.99) This is my favorite. I love mook (acorn or buckwheat jelly). It's light, refreshing and slightly sweet and acidic. Perfect for this summer as it had a few ice cubes as well. I always had the appetizer version but never in the soup form. The jelly comes in almost a thick noodle shape, but those suckers are very slippery. Has sliced cucumbers, sesame seeds, kimchi and some seaweed so make sure to get all that good stuff with your spoon. _Hand Pulled Dough Soup w/Perilla Seed ($19.99) My mom and I love perilla seed so had to try some of hers. The dough is somewhat of a gnocchi texture. Pretty thick and chewy. The perilla leaf flavor is pretty subtle but you get that deep rich flavor and slight nuttiness. A bit too heavy for me in general but a few bites was just enough. Definitely on the pricey side but at least the food is good and consistent. I find all the food here has been generally salty. I know I am sensitive to salty food and because I cook a lot at home and with pandemic not eating out for awhile, my salt sensitivity had gone up so don't take my word, maybe for most this is the perfect amount. read more

The banchan was so unique and full of flavor! I loved the sesame eggplant, umami fish cake, fresh apple salad, and house kimchi the best. I would go here again just for the spicy braised beef ribs. It was a hearty portion, includes big round rice cakes, and radish. Seasoning was a little sweet for my taste, but it is supposed to be spicy and sweet so that was fine. It was also not as expensive as other places.
