since overflo is gone now my friend and i decided to check out the food court for some tteokbokki and stumbled upon Jaws Topokki! we got the rose tteokbokki with the gimbap! the food was ready in about 10-15 minutes which was really fast tbh! rose tteokbokki was like a 8/10! honestly wouldve been a 10/10 but i think there was too much creamer or milk added so it tasted a bit bland but still really good! and the portion size is sooo good for the price! also the gimbap was good you cant really go wrong wit that! would definitely come back again! read more

Saw this was mentioned in a recent episode of Chef & My Fridge as being a top Toppokki (spicy rice cake) place in Korea so had to check it out since there's a branch here in OC! Located on the 4th floor food court at the Source, there's plenty of parking in the parking lot. Order at the counter and they hand you a buzzer to inform you when the food is ready. Best to stay indoors until you pick up your food, as we weren't sure if our buzzer was within range in the outdoor patio area and as soon as we walked indoors it started buzzing. Tried the: 1. Friends combo set (9/10): comes with choice of topokki flavor spice level, soondae (blood sausage) with choice of intestines, and twigim (mixed fried goodies, including 1 fried shrimp, 1 fries potato, a couple fried glass noodle dumplings, a couple fried squid, and some fried seaweed wrapped glass noodles). Got the regular spicy level which was very good and a little on the sweet and spicy (as per the usual Korean palate). Loved everything in the set, and it is a great deal 2. Bareum Gimbap (9/10): aka ham sushi roll. It was really well balanced with a good amount of julienned carrots and veggies 3. Spicy pork gimbap: (9/10): also very delicious with a nice kick, loved that they added green onions and lettuce to give it a nice balance Definitely coming back again to try their other gimbaps as well as their mala topokki and rose topokki! read more

I've seen Jaws Topokki pop up at various places so I was curious to try! Prices are pretty fair. I ordered the bulgogi kimbap ($10 ish) and the slushie shikye ($4 ish). Luckily it didn't take too long for the order to be completed. I got the shikye pretty immediately. It is definitely a rock solid slushie. It was pretty sweet in my opinion, which I might have to pass next time. The bulgogi kimbap was pretty good! The ingredients were pretty fresh and the kimbap size was pretty sizeable. Love the Source's food court and the fact that they have 2 different food courts on different floors. I've actually gone to this Jaws Topokki location before a closer one opened in Haven City market for me, but they're both solid locations and Jaws is a solid Korean franchise for getting kimbap and topokki among other things. Since it's in a food court, you just order, at the counter, they give you a buzzer, and when your food is ready, you can grab it to go. Love the marketing they have for Jaws. Cute puns and shark theme. I didn't get to take a picture of it, but they gave us a red plastic shark fin to help tear apart any of the packaging and boxes. Good stuff and useful too. Can definitely use it as a weaker letter opener later on. For our quick meal that day since we had plans later, we got spam kimbap which was loaded with all of the fixings (carrot egg, cucumber, radish, etc) and had a strong delicious sesame taste to it, definitely dip it into your topokki sauce for more flavor, their rose topokki with cheese (rich and spicy but not too hot and the added creaminess made it delicious, comes with topokki with the perfect texture, fish cakes, and much more), solid for the price, tempura, also great while dipping in the topokki sauce, and blood sausage, which is just okay to me, but a big hit with everyone else. Jaws Topokki's L-pop demon hunters panel got our attention. Their topokki menu was intriguing as I am only used to having rice cake in topokki. We ordered spicy topokki and beef gimbap. Both were delicious. As topokki has a lot of ingredients, it was more interesting but even if we shared both dishes, I did get a bit bored by the mochi texture as it didn't absorb the flavors like noodles. Really still feel like this dish was worth trying. Tips - if you can eat a piece of gimbap in one bite so it won't fall apart. This happens with Japanese futomaki too but it just goes all over the place. Since they flavor gimbap with sesame oil, it is nice we didn't need to dip it in soy sauce. The food court's tables are a bit worn out. The chairs are fine. If the weather is nice, it might be better to eat out in the patio as the atmosphere is nicer there. Restrooms are so close and the parking was free. Overall our quick visit was pleasant and would love to come back to this food court or this mall in general! read more

Tried Jaws Toppoki through Uber Eats and was honestly surprised by how good it was. Their rose tteokbokki had the perfect balance of sweetness and spice. It was not too spicy, which I appreciate since my spice tolerance is pretty low. Loved the addition of the egg and fish cake too. We also ordered a side of tempura, and the batter was nice and crisp. Haven't had jaws since the pandemic. Kind of forgot about it, but decided to grab tteokbokki for lunch. Ordered a large, regular spicy tteokbokki and a side of tofu kimbap. Since we came on a weekday, there was no line. The food still took 15ish minutes to come out. I was so hungry! When the food finally came out, I was happy with the portion and flavor. Everything tasted fresh, making the wait worthwhile. Not sure if I'm just getting old, but the regular spicy was really spicy for me. Finding truly great tteokbokki in oc/la is surprisingly difficult, even though we're living in one of the meccas of Korean cuisine. Jaws Topokki has quickly become my go-to spot for takeout tteokbokki. I ordered the combo, which comes with soondae and fried tempura. The soondae was bomb. It tasted just as good as what you'd get at the best soondae spots in LA. The tteokbokki was also very solid. I went with medium spice, and it was genuinely very spicy, so definitely be careful with the spice levels if you're sensitive to heat. The food was ready on time with good packaging. I had the tuna kimbap with fried squid on the side and was satisfied with both. Honestly, the fried squid slaps and especially when dipped in their spicy mayo - I'm salivating just thinking about it! The gimbap seemed like it was freshly rolled and I liked the contrast of the crispy katsu to the crunchy vegetables. I wasn't the biggest fan of the katsu sauce though. I had a disappointing experience with the staff at Jaws Tteokbokki at The Source Mall in Buena Park last Saturday. I paid extra to upgrade to rosé tteokbokki, but it was missing bacon. The staff said they had run out, but did not inform me before serving the food. When I asked about a refund for the missing ingredient, the cashier insisted the price was the same regardless and refused to refund the extra charge. In addition, the fried items were extremely hard & burnt as if they had been refried or sitting out too long, and were not edible.it seems like too old one Instead of trying to resolve the issue, he continued arguing and said it was not his fault. This situation could have been handled much more professionally. The receipt lists the cashier name as "Danny," but I am not sure if that was the employee who assisted me. read more

Jaws Topokki has really good kimbap with many different fillings. The price is really good and the portions are pretty big. My favorites are the fried cutlet kimbap and their bareun kimbap. Ingredients taste pretty fresh. I think it's a great snack for when you're chilling at the Source but you don't want to have a whole meal.
