Jin Cook is close to my home, and I finally paid them a visit. It's a small but cozy restaurant with great food, and their service definitely deserves five stars. My family and I came in with our toddler. I forgot to bring paper for her to draw on, so I asked for a sheet of white paper. They couldn't find one right away but thoughtfully offered a paper bag (very creative lol) and markers. My daughter was delighted because it was new. She'd never drawn on a paper bag before and it kept her happily occupied. Later they found a proper sheet of paper and offered that as well, so she had even more space to draw on. We ordered the kimbap jeon, chicken pancake, and hot stone bibimbap. We loved them all. I'm a big fan of hot stone bibimbaps, but I had experiences with them being too greasy or soggy. Jin Cook dishes were crispy and full of flavor. I loved that the chicken pancake was on a stone plate as well. It kept the pancake hot and crispy for a long time. I only managed to photograph the chicken pancake because we were already more than halfway through the other two dishes before I remembered to take pictures. Throughout the meal, all the servers took turns checking on us to make sure everything was okay (five different servers came to our table) and to offer refills on the side dishes. My favorites are the garlic suyuk, katsu, cold noodles, and braised short rib. Everything is fresh and delicious. Whatever you order though, you can't go wrong. Very friendly and attentive staff. The downside is that the restaurant isn't huge, so be prepared for a wait if you come during a busy time like the weekend. We came at 12pm on a Saturday and waited for a little over an hour. We arrived at 6:30PM on Friday for a party of 3 - they do not take reservations and we ended up waiting ~30-45 minutes for a table. We ordered three dishes to share. They were very accommodating in bringing out small plates/dishes for each of us. We ordered the Chogye Cold Noodle (our favorite dish, very refreshing!), Garlic Suyuk (boiled in a rich bone broth), and the Seafood Pancake. All dishes were prepared well and the portions were quite generous. Great service and ambiance as well. Would definitely come back! Most attentive Korean aunties at Jin Cook. Would 100% recommend their sweet potato curries and the Brisket Ddukbokki. When our short rib came to the table and I think the Korean uncle also wept out a charcoalish thing that actually gave the short rib more smoky aroma (at least I hope it did that before). Usually a long wait for dinner, but we came at 5pm on Saturday and didn't wait very long. I've tried multiple dishes from here across many visits and everything has been really good! One of my fav Korean restaurants - Spicy braised beef short rib 5/5: galbi jjim with added cheese that they torch, just as good as Sun Nong Dan. This was our favorite - meat was very tender and so flavorful. Not too spicy but the spice adds a great flavor. There is also tteokbokki, potato, carrots, and onion in it that are all so tender and flavorful too. Highlyyy recommend! Our must get here - Jincook Beef Hot Stone 5/5: sooo good, the beef is so tender and fatty that just melts. Only downside is it feels pretty oily from the beef fat but it's so flavorful! - Boo dae jji gae (military soup) 5/5: love that this is personal size since military soup is usually a hugeee portion that is hard to get for just 1-2 people - Beef short rib soup (gal bi tang) 5/5: so comforting and esp good for when you're sick or hungover. My go to spot when I'm craving galbi tang - Beef Soup (Gom Tang) 5/5: had this a while ago but I remember it being really good and flavorful! Maybe a little more flavorful/salty than the galbi tang but I need to get it again to confirm. My husband and I usually DoorDash both this and galbi tang to share when we're feeling under the weather or hungover - Spicy tofu soup (soondubu) 4/5: good but not what I would come here for when there are so many other good dishes here. Food Kimchi jjigae was ultra rich and had the perfect amount of acidity. Plenty of pork slices inside and the broth is extremely flavorful. Whenever I go to SoCal for Disneyland, Jin Cook has become a must stop on our first day because it is that good. As someone who eats a lot of Korean food, I haven't found a place in the Bay Area that I like as much as Jin Cook. The variety here is unbeatable and the portions are extremely generous. I have loved every dish I've had at Jin Cook. This time around, we got regular korean fried chicken, korean army stew, brisket ttetboki and the seafood pancake. All of these were amazing, I wouldn't be able to tell you which one was my favorite because it's too hard to choose. If you want to avoid a long wait, I highly recommend coming before 5 p.m. We arrived before then and had no trouble getting seated, but the waitlist started growing not long after. This time we ordered the bulgogi hot stone, pork curry katsu, spicy galbi jjim, and a seafood pancake. Everything came out piping hot, which is always appreciated. The dishes were served as they were ready rather than all at once, but we actually preferred it that way. Some items definitely take longer to prepare, so it gave us the chance to enjoy each dish while it was fresh and hot instead of having everythingwait to be finished and then being served. The bulgogi hot stone was flavorful and loaded with tender beef and vegetables. If was a good choice, but not the star of today's meal. The spicy galbi jjim continues to be one of our favorites. It has the same great balance of sweetness and spice that keeps us coming back. The beef was tender, the rice cakes were perfectly chewy, and the vegetables soaked up all of the delicious sauce. Love the pumpkin and potato, but they almost always disintegrate in the sauce, so I'm always happy to find any pieces. We also got the pork curry katsu this time, and it did not disappoint. The pork was juicy, the breading stayed crispy, and the rich curry sauce paired really well with the crunchy cutlet. The seafood pancake was another solid choice. It came out crispy around the edges while staying soft inside, with plenty of seafood throughout. It's still one of my favorite appetizers to share. Overall, another excellent meal. I think is better than the LA location but the wait is pretty bad. They say 30mins and it's most like 1 hour, but can't even get made bc the people working here are actually very nice and sweet and actually give you customer service. It was also very warm in there for me so I think i'd think twice before going during hot summers or ask for a center table...might be better. Food wise is pretty good food but leans more towards korean bar food imo. It's not a large space but it seems to work ok for large groups since the center tables can be put together easily. They even apologized for the wait, when it was not their fault. It is just that good that people wait in line for it. There is no check in so you have to write your name and wait. It is a pretty intimate area so it has limited capacity. But you feel how lively this place is with satisfied tummies. We had Anna and Michelle as our servers, who is the best Korean moms you want at your table. They made sure our ban chan was always filled. Highly recommend their Braised Beef Short Rib (Galbi Jim). They charge ~$65 which is very reasonable for the volume and flavor. Rib beef was so tender and savory sweet, alongside some rice cakes, cheese, carrots to take you to flavor town. Their Garlic SuYuk (pork belly) was falling apart as I was trying to bring it to my mouth. The broth it is boiled in is so savory, I used it to pour over my rice. The Katsu Curry was another great dish to have. Japanese style curry which is more on the sweet savory, with super crispy katsu on top. Can I just say as someone who used to dislike cold noodles soups, Jin Cook has converted me into LOVING cold noodles?! I tried this place for the first time with a friend and we both agreed we'd be coming back very soon because the drive was so worth it! We both ordered our individual chicken broth cold noodle soups and whatever they put in there is so delicate and addicting. The banchan and especially the kimchi is amazing and pairs so well together. The server came back to check in on us and refilled the banchan so that was very nice. Service was on point. Chef's cooking is solid here and we want to try everything else on the menu. We came around 2 pm to beat the weekend lunch rush and waited only about 10 minutes. I was a little disappointed in the soup, I thought it was lacking in depth of flavor, and I also wish it was a little smoother. The meat is super tender and flavorful! We added cheese that that they torch table side with charcoal to give it a smoky flavor! They also have a variety of katsus. We got the Sweet Potato Cheese Curry Katsu. I like the sweetness from the sweet potato and the savory curry sauce. Huge portion sizes! They also have a new Chicken Pancake which I haven't seen at other Korean restaurants. The Kimbap Jeon is also new! I really liked this one. It's a kimbap that's battered and fried. My fiancé and I came on weekday night and it was packed, but surprisingly was able to get seated within 15 min. Try not to come on the weekend because you will have to wait greater than 30 min. I wish there was a Yelp waitlist that can be joined. We both got the braised short ribs w/ cheese to share. It took a while to come out and we were hungry! We were just filling up on sides. When it came out, they torched the cheese to melt into the meat. I wish the cheese was more melted, but it was still a nice addition to this dish.
