    Kalguksu
    Liz B.

I tried Jin Cook after spending a long day at Knotts, and it was what I needed to recharge! The kalguksu came with a good amount of noodles and seafood with a good chewy texture. I was a little disappointed in the soup, I thought it was lacking in depth of flavor, and I also wish it was a little smoother. I also tried the spicy tofu soup, which I thought was better and had a great broth! The wait wasnt too long on a sunday at 6pm, we were able to be seated after around 20 minutes. Service was attentive and we were able to quickly get refills on our banchan! Overall it's a solid Korean restaurant, but I think there are better spots in Buena Park's ktown.

Still love the food here! The service continues to be great, and the food is just as delicious as ever. If you want to avoid a long wait, I highly recommend coming before 5 p.m. We arrived before then and had no trouble getting seated, but the waitlist started growing not long after. This time we ordered the bulgogi hot stone, pork curry katsu, spicy galbi jjim, and a seafood pancake. Everything came out piping hot, which is always appreciated. The dishes were served as they were ready rather than all at once, but we actually preferred it that way. Some items definitely take longer to prepare, so it gave us the chance to enjoy each dish while it was fresh and hot instead of having everythingwait to be finished and then being served. The bulgogi hot stone was flavorful and loaded with tender beef and vegetables. If was a good choice, but not the star of today's meal. The spicy galbi jjim continues to be one of our favorites. It has the same great balance of sweetness and spice that keeps us coming back. The beef was tender, the rice cakes were perfectly chewy, and the vegetables soaked up all of the delicious sauce. Love the pumpkin and potato, but they almost always disintegrate in the sauce, so I'm always happy to find any pieces. We also got the pork curry katsu this time, and it did not disappoint. The pork was juicy, the breading stayed crispy, and the rich curry sauce paired really well with the crunchy cutlet. The seafood pancake was another solid choice. It came out crispy around the edges while staying soft inside, with plenty of seafood throughout. It's still one of my favorite appetizers to share. Overall, another excellent meal. The food has remained consistently delicious, the service was attentive, and everything arrived fresh and hot. I'll definitely keep coming back!

My fiancé and I came on weekday night and it was packed, but surprisingly was able to get seated within 15 min. Try not to come on the weekend because you will have to wait greater than 30 min. I wish there was a Yelp waitlist that can be joined. We both got the braised short ribs w/ cheese to share. It took a while to come out and we were hungry! We were just filling up on sides. When it came out, they torched the cheese to melt into the meat. I wish the cheese was more melted, but it was still a nice addition to this dish. The meat was not as tender as expected in the beginning, but the ones on the rib were really good! I definitely will be back to try out other dishes. Seems like they have a lot of soup on the menu so gotta try it out on a day that's not too busy!

This place is popular for a reason! Even at opening, people start lining up. The ambiance of the restaurant makes you feel like you've transported to Korea! The ceiling is lined with Korean rooftops, there are shop signs and traditional Korean dolls displayed along the walls. One of their most popular dishes is their Braised Beef Short Rib. The meat is super tender and flavorful! We added cheese that that they torch table side with charcoal to give it a smoky flavor! They also have a variety of katsus. We got the Sweet Potato Cheese Curry Katsu. I like the sweetness from the sweet potato and the savory curry sauce. Huge portion sizes! They also have a new Chicken Pancake which I haven't seen at other Korean restaurants. The Kimbap Jeon is also new! I really liked this one. It's a kimbap that's battered and fried. It comes with a yummy dipping sauce as well. I'm a big fan of their banchan! They have kimchi, cucumber kimchi, radish kimchi, and pickled jalapenos. So tasty and refreshing! They give refills of these! Service is friendly! Plenty of parking in the shopping plaza's parking lot.

Overall, the food was delicious, and staff were kind and tentative! Throughout our meal, different staff members would check up on us whenever they passed our table! Although when I think about it, we were seated near the doorway, so maybe that was why haha. Friends and I ordered 4 dishes- the seafood pancake, Jin Cook beef hot stone, garlic soy chicken and chogye cold noodle soup. Everything was so yummy and filling! The seafood pancake stayed hot and crunchy the whole time it was on the hot plate, and the cold noodles were refreshing! The hot stone and garlic soy chicken were flavorful! Side dishes were yummy as well. I loved the kimchi! There's lots of parking space in the plaza where the resuarant is located! The restaurant itself is a bit small and pretty busy, so wait time can be a bit long. Luckily, our party didnt have to wait too long to seated! Our food took about 25 minutes to come out though- it seems like they try to bring out all the dishes to the table at the same time. Nonetheless, my friends and I enjoyed our experience there!

Yum! Came on a weekend night near closing and it wasn't too busy. Friendly service and easy parking in plaza with clean bathrooms. Banchan is pretty limited and prices can be a little on the higher end but many of the dishes are family style. We got: -- mushroom japchae: pleasantly surprised by how much we liked this dish! rly delicious and the sesame oil doesn't overpower the dish -- beef soup: clean flavor & my fav korean dish to order at restaurants! super hearty -- seafood pancake: would skip next time. too many onions for my liking + i prefer this dish at other restaurants -- brisket tteokbokki: friends rly like rice cakes so they ordered this dish and enjoyed it. wish there was more broth but still p good. we added cheese and they grill it for you at the table! brisket is cooked nicely. Overall, very enjoyable experience with good food. :)

We ordered the beef tofu soup and spicy beef soup, the beef quality in the tofu soup was not my favorite but, still acceptable. Bun chin options were nice and majority of them were tasty, the radish kimchi was a bit too vinegar forward. Service was friendly and helpful. Clean restaurant and restroom. Smaller establishment, had a fair amount of two top booths. Prices are average in comparison to other Korean places, other than the seafood pancake, that was $28 which we felt was a bit high for the size and quality. Large free parking lot for easy access.

This was my first time eating here at Jin Cook and it did not disappoint! We waited about 30-40 minutes for dinner on a Wednesday night which was worth the wait. We ordered the beef bulgolgi pancake, a great starter to our braided beef short rib which was DELICIOUS EVERY SINGLE BITE. I would 10/10 come again :)

Food was pretty good and the portion sizes were excellent! We ordered two dishes and it was plenty for three people.

Stopped by Jin Cook at 11:48 and didn't actually sit until 12:25 so yeah... if you're going on a Saturday give yourself plenny time. They're known for the garlic suyuk (pork belly) but you kinda need a full squad for that, so we kept it lighter and got the spicy pork hot stone and soondofu. I REALLY wanted to try the ttaro gukbap though-- one of those homey Korean comfort meals you weirdly don't see on restaurant menus that often. Honestly fine because now I already know what I'm getting next time. The spicy pork was super good. No weird porky gaminess at all. They spark the charcoal right there so everything gets that smoky flavor, plus it looks hella cool when they bring it out. The soondofu is thicccccc too--tasted like there was a little doenjang in there. Super savory. Banchan was solid across the board. Garlicky, balanced, not sad filler banchan. Prices are pretty reasonable. Only thing that gives me pause is the wait because this place gets slammed, bc it isn't big and the turnover isn't fast--but if you're craving it, you will be satisfied.

Parking: Easy, open and free I came here when I was on the verge of a sore throat. This casual but homey place didn't change my life but it definitely made me feel better. The tofu soup wasn't quite the typical style like BCD or Young Dong but good! It was different. The broth just had a different base. I do recommend it if you're craving it. I ordered the kalguksu. This was good but it had a very shrimpy taste which was hearty but not what I expected. I think I was looking for less of a seafood experience. Finally, I ordered the katsu. I did a fish and pork katsu. I WAS SURPRISED about how much I liked the fish katsu. This is something I would return for. It was crispy but not oily. It was filling and the fish came with a tartar sauce. The banchan was great. I love a place that is kind with the refills. Service was busy and they did their best. Chef's kiss. All in all, I would come back.

Chogye Cold Noodles & Banchan - so good!

Came here via car for dinner with a party of 3 for dinner on a Sunday in early May 2026. Parking lot was big and free. There was a line when we arrived and we were seated after waiting about 40 minutes. After being seated and ordering, the food took about 20 minutes to arrive but it was so worth it. We ordered the Garlic SuYuk, the Chogye Cold Noodles, and the Garlic Soy Chicken. It all came out to $101.49. The Garlic SuYuk and the Chogye Cold Noodles were our favorite. For the Cold Noodles, they cut the noodles at the table for you. For the Garlic SuYuk, they brought it out sizzling. We probably wouldn't order the Garlic Soy Chicken again just because it wasn't what we expected. We thought it was going to be deep fried but it wasn't - our mistake. The meal definitely hit the spot though. The service was great. The banchan was good. They refill them for free along with the sauces for Garlic SuYuk. The Garlic SuYuk and Garlic Soy Chicken both came with rice. We were so chill by the end. Definitely would come back here.

We had a party of 9 and they were able to accommodate us quickly during lunch time. We did get there right when it opened and luckily we did because it got packed fast! We ordered the beef short rib soup, seafood pancake, braised short rib, garlic suyuk, sweet potato cheese curry katsu and hotteok for dessert. The portions were big enough to share between our big party and we were all verrrrry full after! Service was very fast. The place was clean and I liked how the place was designed to look like a real Korean pub. I'd like to try going here at night since I saw they close late on the weekends.

For food, I've tried a lot of their menu and everything is so good and shareable. The korean fried chicken is crispy, not dry, and seasoned so well! A favorite amongst the group was the beef intestine, which I've never had before and was pretty impressed by. It was super juicy and paired well with the scallions and sauce. Another favorite of the group was the corn cheese. It was like a pizza but corn cheese. My absolute tried and true is the pork belly. BUT THEN!! a table next to us sat down and had about 6 soju bottles and SHOCKER they had kids at their table, but I thought the policy was that everyone had to be 21??? We asked about it and then they said it's because we might distribute it to our friend, yea no. They literally told us "becuase we were all around the same age they couldn't". We were not. The kimchi, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), and gat kimchi are absolutely delicious. I heard that the owner makes everything in-house, and you can really tell how much care and skill go into the food. The staff are also incredibly kind and welcoming every time I visit. Galbitang (Beef Short Rib Soup) - This is honestly the best galbitang I've had in both OC and LA. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the beef is always fresh and tender. Whenever I'm craving galbitang in the OC/LA area, this is the only place I go. Yukgaejang (Spicy Beef Soup) - The amount of ingredients they give you is amazing. I've had it both dining in and as takeout, and it's consistently delicious every single time. It's perfectly seasoned, and has just the right level of spice. As much as I love the galbitang, I think I actually enjoy the yukgaejang even more. Pork Cutlet (Donkatsu) - This place is known for its galbitang and seolleongtang, so I wasn't expecting much from the donkatsu... but why is it this good? The cabbage salad dressing that comes on the side is seriously addictive. The portion size is huge, there's no way I could finish it by myself. It has the crispy texture of Japanese katsu, while still having a great pork flavor of its own. I honestly think this could be considered one of their signature dishes. The interior is clean, newly built, and has a modern Korean hanok-style look. The servers were also friendly both times, so I didn't have any issues with the service or atmosphere. Unfortunately, the main problem for me was the food. I've eaten at the LA location before and never really thought the food tasted bad there, but at this Buena Park location, both visits gave me the impression that the food didn't taste as fresh as it should. On my most recent visit, I ordered the soondae gukbap, and the soondae had an unpleasant off smell and didn't taste very fresh. It almost tasted like it had been sitting for a while. On my first visit, I tried the regular pork gukbap, and the pork flavor was also stronger than I personally prefer. I do tend to like cleaner-tasting gukbap, but this stood out to me because I don't remember having the same issue at the LA location. After the first visit, I thought maybe it was just an off day since the restaurant was still new. But after having a similar impression on my second visit, I'm not sure if this location is consistent yet. The space is nice and the service was good, but for a gukbap restaurant, the food has to be the main reason to come back. Based on my two visits, this location was disappointing for me.

We had the sirloin steak and the bone-in rib eye. They were both great. The server did a great job of cooking the meat perfectly. The steaks had a great sear and then he cut up the pieces nicely just as they got to about rare temperature. I like my meat medium rare, so I just waited another minute or so and it was perfect. My wife and I both thought the kimchi was fantastic -- and, other than the quality of the meat, the quantity of the kimchi is really let. We also ordered the egg stew and kimchi stew. They both had great flavor. The only thing missing was lettuce and rice cake wraps. The provide salad. But I'd much rather have just fresh lettuce. The bill was a little more than other places, but well worth it.

But since I moved out of LA, it's so inconvenient to get to. Enter Kyung Bok Kung -- what a find. I can get a fine dining korean bbq experience conveniently. I've been here a number of times, and this review reflects the few times I've been there. It's become the goto spot to take people from out of town who are visiting and want a Kbbq experience. Things I immediately noticed - lots of white and grey teslas in the parking lot during lunch - you know what that means? Golf Koreans. Yup. Go inside and you'll see incredibly well dressed older retired people with their buddies chatting up in private cubicles. Beautiful decor. It's like the background setting of a korean drama where there's a close-up of the guy and the girl - they're about to say something really serious to each other. The camera does a wide angle shot of them - and this is the restaurant it's shot in. Price points - this place isn't cheap, but they have incredibly good deals on a weekday lunch (cold noodles and meat set). Their dinner set course meals are priced around what you would expect from a quality steak house. This place is not as pricey as AB steak or Cote, but you're getting just as quality. Food - I've had the lunch set meals, the bbq grilled course, and ordered à la carte. One thing is for sure - they don't miss. I never had a 9 budda plate until I came here, but apparently it's like a thing that royals ate during the monarchy days. It was like a korean vegetarian taco. Very intricate (and slightly annoying) to put together but delicious - and a great test of your chopstick skills. Their braised beef (galbijjim) from their lunch set intersects savory, sweet, and tenderness in a way that only Korean grandmas do. I'm not a huge fan of Wagyu beef (just too rich and can never feel after eating it), but I have never felt that way coming out of here. Go here at night if you want to impress someone or celebrate something. Go here during lunch if you want a fantastic meal and want to see what the best korean food can taste like but don't want to break the bank.

First thing that hit me walking in: a whole wall covered in signatures from Korean actors, singers, and idols. When Korean celebrities show up and leave their autograph, you know the food is the real deal. Definitely worth a photo. The star of our meal was the intestine combo (곱창콤보) -- their signature, and now I get the hype. Sizzling on the grill, crispy outside, soft and juicy inside, zero funky smell. My friend was hesitant about intestines at first and ended up fighting me for the last piece. We also got the raw beef soup (yukhoe/육회) -- cold, fresh, silky, a little sweet-and-sour, and the perfect refreshing contrast to the rich intestines. And the spicy stir-fried squid rice bowl was a sleeper hit: bouncy squid, bold spicy-savory sauce, and I scraped the bowl clean. Bonus: it's right next to Zion Market, so parking is easy, and they run the waitlist through Yelp so it moves fast even when it's busy. You don't have to order BBQ to eat well here -- the intestine combo, yukhoe, and spicy squid rice bowl alone made it one of my favorite Korean spots in Buena Park. Highly recommend. Will be back!

Food: This is not an all-you-can-eat KBBQ and that is just fine. Selection your level of food intake with an assortment of great choices that come with great sides. I sometimes prefer this over AYCE KBBQ because I like my lunches the next day with all that was cooked. Service: Great service and proper grill change outs. The team members will also help out on the cooking duties and are very attentive. Ambiance: No frills and super nice restaurant with a great layout. Very clean restroom and general cleanliness in the restaurant.
