On Saturday, August 1th, when we had our group gathering in Fullerton, I stopped by Baro Gimbap in Fullerton with two of my group members who came with me. I had already bought some prime beef at the market the day before and brought it with me, but I thought it would be nice to bring some kimbap as well, so we stopped by Baro Gimbap. When I got there, I realized that this is actually the same Baro Gimbap as the one in Koreatown LA. I've always liked the kimbap here because it's consistently delicious, and the Fullerton location was just as good. I especially love their egg kimbap--it's one of my favorites--and it was delicious that day too. We got three different kinds of kimbap: egg gimbap, anchovy gimbap, and bulgogi gimbap. All three were delicious. Originally, I was planning to order their $60 kimbap catering tray, but they said it had to be ordered at least one day in advance, so instead, we just got three different kinds of kimbap so we could have a variety of flavors. While we were waiting for our order, I saw what other customers were eating, and the pork cutlet and tteokbokki looked really good too. One thing that was a little inconvenient was the restroom. You couldn't simply walk straight through the restaurant to get to it. You had to go outside, enter the coin laundry right next to Baro Gimbap, then go back outside from there and enter Baro Gimbap through a back door. When you went through the back door, there was a Hispanic employee who was grinding whole carrots in a machine. He asked, "Restroom?" and when I said yes, he opened a door for me, and I had to go through that door to get to the restroom. It was a little inconvenient and honestly kind of awkward. My girlfriend who came with me went to the restroom first and then told me that this was the way to get there, so I followed the same route. My friend recommended Baro Gimbap for lunch during the weekday. The space is small and kept really clean. I ordered the tteokbokki gimbap combo and a 2 piece fish cake skewer. The food came out pretty quickly. The tteobokki was cooked perfectly and really chewy. The gimbap was solid and the fish skewers were really good. I came here with my parents on a Friday! The lady working the front is the sweetest. I also love that you're able to grab prepackaged things while you wait in line to order. It's a pretty small restaurant but about 5-6 small parties of 2-4 people will be able to find seating. Everything came out fresh and hot! We got the kimchi fried rice and the teokbokki. I got some spicy tuna kimbab and it was so good, and while I was eating I saw that they also have hot food items on top of grab and go items. I got the kkongguksu or cold soybean noodles and it was the best I've had in a long time. Was so refreshing and brought me back to the time I had it in Korea during the summer; it really hit the spot. The Korean ajumma was very sweet and recommended drink options for me. She was very sweet to kids that came in. The staff out back were taking a lunch and saw me bringing my tray over and quickly got up to help me. They didn't need to during their lunch but I appreciated the gesture. The restaurant is very cozy and clean; I enjoyed resting here as a pitstop in between chores. The first time I tried their kimbap was at a friend's birthday party, and I was really impressed by how beautifully the party box was presented. That experience convinced me to order one for another party. Unfortunately, this time didn't live up to my expectations. The shop itself is small so seatiings are tight so mainly people do take outs but you can dine in if there are seats available. I've been wanting to ty this place & just stopped by on a whim. It's a tiny place but had 6 or more tables so yiu can dine in. They have noodles, kimbap, tteok-bokki, & what they call 분식 "boon-shik" in Korea. They have sidedishes (banchan) for sale on the side as you go up to order at the counter. We ordered the combo kimbap, jjol-myun (spciy chewy noodle) & janchi-gooksu (banquet/party noodle). Combo kimbap had tuna, gobo & spicy fishcake kimbap. Kimbap taste was average. My favorite was the banquet/party noodle - the broth was the perfect level of saltiness & flavor (I think it was anchovy broth) with generous amount of tarnishing on top. Spicy noodle was good too with lots of veges but was a bit too spciy for my palate. There were many things I still want to try so I will be back. They also have party box of kimbaps which i may order for gatherings at my place. The lady who took the order also brought us the food. She was friendly & helpful when we ordered the food. But with more customers coming in & her being the only person in the front, I think she got stressed as she became less friendly as we dined there & had to ask her for a container. Very chic look and great place for some Gimbap. The place in a small plaza so parking can be a hit or miss. Clean and spacious and well organized shop. Self service on to go upon entrance to for available. There is a menu or highly call in for order so you will be guaranteed to have what you want. When we went, it almost noon so not much left but still good for quick snacks for the road. They do have dine in area and you can ordered and paid ahead of time. The place is pleasantly quite nice. Service is nice and quick. The foods are quite tasty and very goods, love it. The bottle of juice(s) are very refreshing and just deliahtful. There are quite a few places selling kimbap and banchan in the area, but I keep going back to Baro Gimbap for a few items. My favorite is a newer menu item here, yuksu bulgogi. I also really enjoy the mini egg kimbap, spicy tuna kimbap, perilla oil noodles, and sashimi rice bowl. Note that before 9 am they only have kimbap and whatever banchan they have in the fridge area; you have to come after 9 am to order noodles. Expect a 10-15 min wait for most hot food orders. The interior is small but clean. I usually just get my food to go, but there are a few tables inside for those who would like to dine in. read more

I've worked in the Food & Beverage business and I get it, but if I didn't serve you or clean up after you and come around to ask I d you ned anything I don't think I will get a tip. That's just my opinion. Now if you're really friendly and you still didn't serve me or wait on me then maybe. But not this time homey. Back to the food...The fishcake as good, the broth I could careless about. But it's very important for the broth to be tasty you may say. Why yes it is! That's true, but sometime the fishcake is enough. In this case it was enough for me to say okay, I like it. Would I come here for fishcake? Answer is no. The soup is light and you can still taste the raddish but it's not to the point where you can get juggy just with the soup. Sorry, but the fishcake inside H-mart has more flavor. IYKYK!! Kimbap, I ordered the egg one. Boy was that the most plainest kimbap I've ever tasted. I knew I should have tried the bulgolgi one. I also tried the combo one and it was the same. There was no flavor. I had to dip it in the soy sauce. The kimbaps needed sesame flavor in them!! To each their own I guess. Come give it a try and lemme know what you think. The roll was generously filled with bulgogi, carrots, spinach, pickled radish, and other fresh vegetables, making every bite flavorful and well balanced. Baro Gimbap is a grab-n-go Korean spot located on the a plaza on Orangethorpe in Fullerton. They offer a bunch of ready-to-eat appetizers, such as potato salads, kimchi, etc. as well as ready-to-eat gimbap. They also offer a few combo deals where you can grab a gimbap and one of their hot food items, such as the fish cake skewers! Inside, it's a bit cramped but there are a few tables to sit down and eat if you aren't into the whole grab-n-go thing. Service is quick and checkout is really easy. For my visit, I had both their odeng and their spicy odeng gimbap, as well as combining one for the deal where we could get fish cake skewers. Everything was delicious! My personal favorite part was the spicy odeng gimbap, which had the exact kick I was looking for along with the satisfying crunch from the veggies. The portion is fairly large for how much it costs ($7 for spicy odeng, $6 for odeng). Another thing I have to highlight is the fish cake skewers in the soup. These were so soft and light, and tasted great! Sipping the soup as you're eating the skewers really makes for an amazing experience. Overall, I loved my visit to Baro Gimbap. I recommend everyone give it a try, even if you aren't a big fan of gimbap! I want to come back and try their cutlet!! 9/10! read more

We did come a bit later, and they were limited in their selection of kimbap, but we found the egg kimbap that we got to be flavorful and well wrapped. The kimbap here is 5/5! The price for the quality is also very reasonable. I've tried the tuna, the bulgogi, the gobo, the odaeng, and the mini little kimbaps. They are all super good and nothing can beat a $6 gobo kimbap. My toddler absolutely loves loves loves the mini little kimbaps. I've also gotten their spicy marinated crab twice now and think it's priced really well for a good hefty portion. Although the food is good, I had to take off a star for their service. Similar to other reviews, I've been here several times now and unfortunately each time the same employee there has been very, very unpleasant. It was as if me being there and ordering was a bother/burden for her. However, the food and pricing is good enough to look past that and I will likely continue to come again in the future. Yelp hooked me up! I was hungry for breakfast but (for once) I didn't feel like a traditional one. So Yelp sent me here. The parking lot is sketchy like dangerous people around. And in between a laundromat and a Mexican bakery is Baro. They have a beautiful door and you can see inside that it's warm and inviting, and clean. I was going to eat while driving but the place is very inviting. The huge menu is on the wall. My mouth was already primed for kimbap so that's what I ordered. One gabo and one egg. They were still warm. Delicious? Yes and stuffed with filling. Beautiful perfect rolls. No soy sauce necessary and not dry like rolls made hours ago. I ate half of each tray and took the rest home. Such a nostalgic and cute little shop. It's clean, well organized, and service was prompt and efficient. We really enjoyed the variety of kimbap fillings and Baro Gimbap's makes this place great bang for buck! For 3 people, we ordered a mini kimbap, regular sized kimbap, rose tteokbokki, and spicy cold chewy noodle to share, and it was such a delicious and plentiful feast! If it wasn't for the fact that we were going to be out and about the rest of the day, I would have picked up additional boxes on the way out to enjoy later. I am down bummed that I never got to take picture of the party tray that I ordered. I ordered party tray#4 I believe, which was $67. It was for a playdate with bunch of kids with the parents. I asked if I could switch out one of the kimbap option to different kind since it was going to be for non Koreans who are nor familiar with Korean food. And they accommodated it! The food was ready for pick up when I went in to get it right on time. Everyone really enjoyed it and they were all gone even before I realized I didn't get a picture. My friend and I visited for the first time. When we walked in, there were hardly any customers, but no one greeted us or explained how to order. We waited for about 10 minutes before asking, and only then were we told to order at the counter. As first-time customers, there was no way for us to know, so it left a very poor first impression. We ordered the kimchi pork kimbap, sundae, and jjolmyeon. The kimbap had a slightly off smell, but we ate it anyway. Unfortunately, I had diarrhea for the rest of the day afterward. The restaurant was also extremely cold. I politely asked for a small cup of fish cake broth to warm up, but my request was refused. The jjolmyeon was also very bland, so we asked for a little more sauce. Instead, we were asked, "Do you normally eat salty food?" We don't. The dish was simply under-seasoned, and the response felt unnecessary. The tall Korean woman with yellow hair wearing a headscarf was very rude. She seemed annoyed whenever we asked a simple question and also spoke rudely to the other employees, making the atmosphere uncomfortable.
