I think I may have finally found my favorite banchan place! I needed to find fresh, tasty, quality banchans for an upcoming Korean celebration. I've tried many other places and was dissatisfied BUT the banchans at Baro Gimbap were all excellent! They were fresh, very flavorful and well balanced, not overpowering. I bought the seasoned dried radish, potato salad, edible green (Sigeumchi-namul) this was earthy and different than the usual way it's made, but so good, and Maneul-jong (green garlic stems). The containers were packed so I think it's worth the price. I also got gobo (burdock) gimbap and also very good, loaded and flavorful. I hope the owners will continue making quality food and not begin to cut corners when they get too popular. I will gladly pay more $ for good food read more

I've been here twice during the last 3 weeks. The food is truly outstanding. I tried the following over the two visits, both to go and shared with family. We were all excited about it at the time: Gobo Kimbap Bulgogi Kimbap Spicy Pork Kimbap Spicy Chewy Cold Noodle Perilla Oil Mixed Noodle Original Tteokbokki Pork Cutlet My personal favorites were the kimbaps along with the Cold Spicy Chewy Noodles. The spice level was great, the sauce was high quality, and the noodles were cooked so perfectly. So why the low 2-stars on this review? On one hand, I feel bad about giving the rating. However, the truth is the service and attitude are THAT bad. Short of being cussed-out-bad. The food is so damn good. But my 2 stars should actually be 1 star... That's how horrid the attitude is. On my first visit, I was taking time to read the menu and see everything they had... The dining area was full, but no one was in line behind me. After 1 minute of me reading the menu, older lady sitting at the order table was really impatient. She wanted me to hurry up and order. I asked her if the spicy chewy cold noodle came in a combo. She gruffly said no, was irritated and sighed and pointed up at the wall menu. No joke or overdramatic description here. She spoke and pointed as if I was an idiot and couldn't read. So I just ordered, waited 25 minutes for my food. She gruffly handed my food to me and said a disingenuous gruff "thank you" in Korean with a scowl. Since the food was so good and my family wanted to try again, I went back the following week. My wife told me to take the high road and get over the lady. So I returned to order other items. Same lady was there, and same freaking attitude. I hate to not support what looks like an independent family business, especially in California where I know firsthand how difficult it is to operate a business which is further exacerbated by inflation and poor attitudes of consumers in general. Everyone's road raging, got a hot temper, ready to start a confrontation, complain about high prices and then give a 1 star review. Sorry everyone, but I'm really telling the truth here. You should definitely come try the food, but I'll never return again to try their admittedly delicious food. The interior decor is well-done. It has style, is nice and bright. The owners decided to maximize the small space. I don't blame them for doing that, but you should know it's definitely cramped. If you're claustrophobic, on a crowded day this place might get to you. This eatery is in a small strip mall. The parking lot got maxed out both times I visited. The immediate street in the area that allows parking had no space because it's high density, and the other parts of the streets near it are red zoned. Since there was no immediate parking available, I parked about two blocks away in a residential area, just past a church. I walked the roughly two blocks to get the food, and walked back to my car. It beat the stress of trying to maneuver inside the crowded parking lot. Again, I'm never going to return even as a Korean American myself. If you're willing to get through all the above, the food is DELICIOUS. I've already done the foodie miniature version of Lord of the Rings. I've traveled to Mount Doom and made it out twice with kimbaps, noodles and a cutlet. It's now all a memory that I've memorialized for you in this Yelp review. I cannot attest to the food, but the service was annoying. We read that the place is small so my family of four got to the restaurant and saw two tables open. Our in-laws (4 extra) people were like 5 min away so I had my kids sit at one table and I sat at another and my husband was in line to order for "both" of our families. We were fully aware it was busy so we wanted to hurry up and eat then go watch movies after. While my husband was in line the lady at the register asks us if we could use one table because the people at the register had no place to sit. I told them another group was coming right now and my husband was in line right behind those people to order. The lady asked us to sit at one table, so we gave up that one table. Then when my husband got to the register she told us to order when the rest of our party comes and wouldn't take our order. Then like 5 min later the rest of our party came, and my husband again went to order and the lady said, "told you should order when your whole group is here." I was so soooo annoyed. On Saturday, August 1th, when we had our group gathering in Fullerton, I stopped by Baro Gimbap in Fullerton with two of my group members who came with me. I had already bought some prime beef at the market the day before and brought it with me, but I thought it would be nice to bring some kimbap as well, so we stopped by Baro Gimbap. When I got there, I realized that this is actually the same Baro Gimbap as the one in Koreatown LA. I've always liked the kimbap here because it's consistently delicious, and the Fullerton location was just as good. I especially love their egg kimbap--it's one of my favorites--and it was delicious that day too. We got three different kinds of kimbap: egg gimbap, anchovy gimbap, and bulgogi gimbap. All three were delicious. Originally, I was planning to order their $60 kimbap catering tray, but they said it had to be ordered at least one day in advance, so instead, we just got three different kinds of kimbap so we could have a variety of flavors. While we were waiting for our order, I saw what other customers were eating, and the pork cutlet and tteokbokki looked really good too. One thing that was a little inconvenient was the restroom. You couldn't simply walk straight through the restaurant to get to it. You had to go outside, enter the coin laundry right next to Baro Gimbap, then go back outside from there and enter Baro Gimbap through a back door. When you went through the back door, there was a Hispanic employee who was grinding whole carrots in a machine. He asked, "Restroom?" and when I said yes, he opened a door for me, and I had to go through that door to get to the restroom. It was a little inconvenient and honestly kind of awkward. My girlfriend who came with me went to the restroom first and then told me that this was the way to get there, so I followed the same route. I came here with my parents on a Friday! The lady working the front is the sweetest. I also love that you're able to grab prepackaged things while you wait in line to order. It's a pretty small restaurant but about 5-6 small parties of 2-4 people will be able to find seating. Everything came out fresh and hot! We got the kimchi fried rice and the teokbokki. There are quite a few places selling kimbap and banchan in the area, but I keep going back to Baro Gimbap for a few items. My favorite is a newer menu item here, yuksu bulgogi. I also really enjoy the mini egg kimbap, spicy tuna kimbap, perilla oil noodles, and sashimi rice bowl. Note that before 9 am they only have kimbap and whatever banchan they have in the fridge area; you have to come after 9 am to order noodles. Expect a 10-15 min wait for most hot food orders. Was so refreshing and brought me back to the time I had it in Korea during the summer; it really hit the spot. The Korean ajumma was very sweet and recommended drink options for me. The first time I tried their kimbap was at a friend's birthday party, and I was really impressed by how beautifully the party box was presented. That experience convinced me to order one for another party. Unfortunately, this time didn't live up to my expectations. I've been wanting to ty this place & just stopped by on a whim. It's a tiny place but had 6 or more tables so yiu can dine in. They have noodles, kimbap, tteok-bokki, & what they call 분식 "boon-shik" in Korea. They have sidedishes (banchan) for sale on the side as you go up to order at the counter. We ordered the combo kimbap, jjol-myun (spciy chewy noodle) & janchi-gooksu (banquet/party noodle). Combo kimbap had tuna, gobo & spicy fishcake kimbap. Kimbap taste was average. My favorite was the banquet/party noodle - the broth was the perfect level of saltiness & flavor (I think it was anchovy broth) with generous amount of tarnishing on top. Spicy noodle was good too with lots of veges but was a bit too spciy for my palate. There were many things I still want to try so I will be back. They also have party box of kimbaps which i may order for gatherings at my place. The lady who took the order also brought us the food. She was friendly & helpful when we ordered the food. But with more customers coming in & her being the only person in the front, I think she got stressed as she became less friendly as we dined there & had to ask her for a container. Baro Gimbap is a grab-n-go Korean spot located on the a plaza on Orangethorpe in Fullerton. They offer a bunch of ready-to-eat appetizers, such as potato salads, kimchi, etc. as well as ready-to-eat gimbap. They also offer a few combo deals where you can grab a gimbap and one of their hot food items, such as the fish cake skewers! Inside, it's a bit cramped but there are a few tables to sit down and eat if you aren't into the whole grab-n-go thing. Service is quick and checkout is really easy. For my visit, I had both their odeng and their spicy odeng gimbap, as well as combining one for the deal where we could get fish cake skewers. Everything was delicious! My personal favorite part was the spicy odeng gimbap, which had the exact kick I was looking for along with the satisfying crunch from the veggies. The portion is fairly large for how much it costs ($7 for spicy odeng, $6 for odeng). Another thing I have to highlight is the fish cake skewers in the soup. These were so soft and light, and tasted great! Sipping the soup as you're eating the skewers really makes for an amazing experience. Overall, I loved my visit to Baro Gimbap. We did come a bit later, and they were limited in their selection of kimbap, but we found the egg kimbap that we got to be flavorful and well wrapped. The kimbap here is 5/5! The price for the quality is also very reasonable. I've tried the tuna, the bulgogi, the gobo, the odaeng, and the mini little kimbaps. They are all super good and nothing can beat a $6 gobo kimbap. My toddler absolutely loves loves loves the mini little kimbaps. I've also gotten their spicy marinated crab twice now and think it's priced really well for a good hefty portion. Although the food is good, I had to take off a star for their service. Similar to other reviews, I've been here several times now and unfortunately each time the same employee there has been very, very unpleasant. It was as if me being there and ordering was a bother/burden for her. However, the food and pricing is good enough to look past that and I will likely continue to come again in the future. Yelp hooked me up! I was hungry for breakfast but (for once) I didn't feel like a traditional one. So Yelp sent me here. The parking lot is sketchy like dangerous people around. And in between a laundromat and a Mexican bakery is Baro. They have a beautiful door and you can see inside that it's warm and inviting, and clean. I was going to eat while driving but the place is very inviting. The huge menu is on the wall. My mouth was already primed for kimbap so that's what I ordered. One gabo and one egg. Such a nostalgic and cute little shop. It's clean, well organized, and service was prompt and efficient. We really enjoyed the variety of kimbap fillings and Baro Gimbap's makes this place great bang for buck! For 3 people, we ordered a mini kimbap, regular sized kimbap, rose tteokbokki, and spicy cold chewy noodle to share, and it was such a delicious and plentiful feast! If it wasn't for the fact that we were going to be out and about the rest of the day, I would have picked up additional boxes on the way out to enjoy later. On a Friday around lunchtime, there was a great selection of kimbaps made and available grab & go. They were out of the bulgogi at the time, but had a wide array of side dishes to choose from as well. Luckily, by the time we went to checkout, there was some fresh bulgogi kimbap being brought out! That being said, the bulgogi kimbap was good, but not as great as some hyped it up to be. The meat itself wasn't as sweet or aromatic as I was expecting. It actually reminded me of hamburger meat, as some other reviews mentioned it's "smoky" taste. Though the other fillings were great and well balanced. The spicy odeng was my favorite, as the fish cake (odeng) stood out among its other ingredients. The only thing - it is truly spicy, not like the "spicy fish cake" you may buy at Hmart. The spicy creeps up and lingers a bit, but you can always balance it out with one of their sides or other kimbaps. The seasoned dried squid provided some spice relief and was definitely seasoned well. This roll included another type of herb/green that I couldn't identify that gave it a slight bitterness. They have a wonderful selection of sides, and the party box was a huuuuge hit! It was beautiful and delicious and easily shared between 6 adults with leftovers.
