We came at 8:50 and got put on the last wait-list. We got seated at 9:30. So everything was rushed. From ordering to them cooking and serving. They were efficient though And the food was delicious! It was a hectic busy restaurant, like most kbbq places with lots of families and people eating and shouting. Super lively in there. The space was tight when they lay out the meat on the side of the table so walking through, I could see the servers struggling a bit. We came for the cold noodles but had to get the meat! Pros: - Large, ample parking lot - Clean, warm, well lit interior - Attentive servers who worked well together - Noise level was a tad loud but it was still easy to have a conversation (i also like restaurant noise) The only small con was a longer than average wait time for me (luckily I wasn't in much of a rush). The food: - Mul naengmyeon: I'm generally not a huge fan of Pyongyang style but this place won me over. The broth is subtle but still has a lot of depth. I thought the garden grove one was just okay when I went a couple of years ago but I now appreciate their nangmyeon and can understand the hype. I usually never get the seafood pancake but it's definitely different here, and when you get the nengmyeon, they give you a slightly smaller one for free which makes this place so special. Mo Ran Gak does have usually a long wait, but personally, think it's really worth it if you're in the mood for neng myun in particular. I've been here about 4-5 times now and think that the restaurant has been super consistent. First off, note that this restaurant at least on weekends will usually have a wait ranging anywhere between 30 minutes to over an hour. You aren't able to make a reservation online or via phone. Instead, you'll have to sign up for the Yelp Wait List in-person. There's a Paris Baguette and a supermarket nearby (as well as a few other restaurants) to chill for a bit. The waiting area does have a couple small umbrellas but nowhere to really sit. You'll get a text once your table is ready. Parking is also a bit tight since this is a very crowded strip mall with a lot of shops. Once you're in though, they are like a well oiled machine here. Tables are cleaned and set usually once you enter. Ordering can also happen pretty quickly if you know what you want. If it's your first time here, the menu can look a little intimidating. We usually only order one of three items - the mul neng myun (the more soup-y cold noodles); the bi bim neng myun (the spicy cold noodles); or the galbi combo that comes with either of these items. When we order at this location in particular, we usually are able to get a regular sized neng myun and a smaller one with one order, great for those that want to try different ones out. I'm personally a bi bim neng myun fan and think this one is wonderful. It includes some skate fish and is saucy. I don't think it's overly spicy (although your mileage may vary) and is just so flavorful. I usually am not the biggest mul neng myun fan but think the one here is also strong and flavorful. Love the amount and includes the sides of mustard/vinegar as well. The banchan here is also strong. Love that it comes with seafood pajeon (the seafood Korean pancake) and that is easily shareable amongst the group. And the combo galbi as a heads-up is cooked in the kitchen, not at the table. They do have a lot of meat options as well in addition to ordering extra pajeon. We recently also tried the mackerel here too which wasn't bad but definitely not the highlight And they have both hot tea and cold tea available as well. And think the pricing is strong here as well. All-in-all, would highly recommend Mo Ran Gak! Just come early/be prepared for the wait. read more

Took a friend here on Monday for his birthday lunch. Put my name on waitlist at 10:50AM, way before they opened at 11AM, but already saw 11 parties ahead of us. So I waited. Then I kept seeing Korean folks who came after me and just walked in and got seated, so I went inside to ask the host and he simply just directed me to a table (I was probably still party #8 or 9 on waitlist). The restaurant space itself is spacious and always bustling with activity because of how popular it is. If I could pick only one place to get KBBQ, it would be here. Their cold noodles are the best I've had and my wife craves their cold noodles. When I come for KBBQ, I usually get their combo for the size of our party, and it has never disappointed. The amount of meat you get is perfect and your server perfectly cooks it for you. At our most recent visit, my wife and I shared the Naengmyeon + Galbi combo. The banchan offered here is quite literally the best I've ever had. There is so much variety and the quality is amazing. It was my first time here to celebrate two friends' bdays for dinner. I arrived early to put my name on the waitlist at 4:45pm on a Saturday. It was busy, but not too crazy. We were 12th in the queue and got seated before 5:30pm. We were a party of 4 and ordered the beef combo for 3 with an order of thin-sliced beef tongue. I have to say their banchan spread was very good and generous. They even had this marinated beef thing, pancake, konjac salad, fresh kimchi, and all the other usual ones that were very tasty. The tofu soup that came with the combo was amazing as the tofu had a lot of flavor IN THE TOFU. Normally, you can tell it's an afterthought soup where they would throw in piece of tofu in there, which doesn't have any flavor. The beef combo was super tasty. All cuts of the beef were high quality, tasty, and tender. We had one cut that was the marinated boneless short rib and that was surprisingly good. The marinade wasn't too sweet. The servers cooked our meats, and they didn't rush us through every cut like some places. We wanted to enjoy so we politely asked them if we can slow down, which they did. The venue was clean, servers were awesome and the food is TASTY. It's definitely better than my usual Baekjeong. I like BJ because it's a pretty standard KBBQ place and loved it when it was Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong. However, with its expansion and greater accessibility, the quality is decent. MRQ is definitely a few notches above BJ, and I will now hit this place up if I'm not in a rush. Also, they serve a lot of other dishes (cold noodles, bulgogi, etc.), which I thought was pretty awesome, but we stuck with BBQ because they are known for it. I came here for the mool naengmyun and galbi combo. It came with a side of naengmyun, which I was able to choose between the mool and the spicy bibim. I chose the spicy bibim naengmyun. TBH, I would give the food a solid 4 stars. However, for a place that specializes in meat, their galbi that came with the naengmyun was way too thin. Also, their service is a hit or miss. If you want a 5 star experience, you need to come at an awkward time (11AM, 4:30PM). Otherwise join the Yelp waitlist or send a sacrificial lamb to sign up and wait. It will also help to know what you want to order while you potentially wait for that long amount of time. Haven't had the meat at this location so I'll be mainly going over the nengmyeon and fish/stew combo. Both are fire. The icy texture on the nengmyeon is the sign of true quality. Great tang and no bitterness from the cucumbers. Fried fish is a bit oily but offset by rice, stew, and side dishes. Service is great even though it was crazy busy. I mean they are not warm and fuzzy, they are very efficient so there's no small talk but they are very attentive. You know the food is good when there's a wait at 5pm on a Monday. My new favorite kbbq spot! This isn't an AYCE restaurant so they have premium meats served al a carte or with a combo. We ordered the brisket and black pork belly combo for 2 with steamed egg and tofu soup - our table all agreed it was the best tofu soup we've ever tasted. They grill the meats for you while you enjoy the banchan spread which included napa and radish kimchi, soy bean sprouts, seaweed salad, mung bean jelly, pancake, and anchovy pepper stir fry. Though this is a bbq spot, don't miss out on the other menu items! The boiled pork belly was incredibly tender, and they even cut the beef for you table-side when you order galbitang. A must-try is their Pyongyang cold noodles (naengmyeon), which are made in-house from scratch. We ordered the bibim naengmyeon and were also offered mul naengmyeon, so we got to try both! There's always a line here, but it's ALWAYS worth the wait! Our server was Jack and he was incredibly kind, attentive to every detail, and consistently checked in to make sure everything was perfect throughout my families meal. He has great memory because he remembered my entire family members orders and side dish refills. What really stood out was the care he took when packaging my leftovers. He thoughtfully placed a layer of salad at the bottom of the container so the hot meat wouldn't come into direct contact with the plastic and potentially cause it to melt. On top of that we ordered the spicy noodle and the cold noodle. Can I say something!? I could eat two whole bowls of spicy noodles, and I wouldn't be tired of it. The server we had was fantastic as well. When we ordered the combo C we weren't a fan of just having a ribeye as one of the courses.
