The inside of the restaurant is clean, well -kept, and staff are also very nice. I also love how there is always good seating, regardless of the hour of the day. This place is very friendly for all different varieties of party sizes: I've been here 1 on 1, with small groups, and even with a group of 6. They are always able to accommodate our party and have us seated quickly. They also have good group deals like their combo for 2,3, or 4. I would say, generally speaking though, each bowl can serve 4 people--of course varying by appetite. All their portions are quite generous, and toppings taste very fresh. I am a huge fan of their rose sauce, which is mild enough to be friendly for people with low spice tolerance, like me. I also really love adding their cheese pour and getting a side of wings. Both add ons really elevate the meal and truly builds up the experience. This was a really poorly run 1 year anniversary event. They did SO much marketing for their 50% off sale but it seems like besides marketing they didn't put effort into anything else. No logistics, no planning, poor management, not enough staff. We got there a little before 2 and were #58 in line (party of 3). Outside the crowd didn't look that bad but I assume it's people waiting in cars or killing time in the plaza. 58th was a harsh place to start but we were committed like how bad could it be right, people go in and out, there should be some type of flow.... no. The estimate said something like 100 minutes... also no. Half the tables were empty and it looks like there were only 2 people working. The promo actually says dine in AND pickup so I'm not sure if they're busy because of the togo orders because there weren't that many people in the actual restaurant vs the crowd waiting. Like every other table was empty they definitely could've sat people. Oh they didn't have enough workers? WHY NOT! Why wouldn't you staff more people when you heavily marketed this weekend as a discount weekend and therefore should be expecting more people. After the first hour we gave up and ate elsewhere but just for your reference, we only moved up to the 40s by the first hour. And then THREE hours later (5 pm) we remembered like omg we forgot to exit the waitlist huh...but then also realized that we never got a text saying table is ready so we must not be close yet. 3 hours later we were #10 in line. Side note: At the 1 hour mark we asked if we could order togo and they said no, you would have to still wait for your turn on the waitlist (aka to be seated) to order togo. That doesn't make sense because there's SO many people waiting and this list is barely moving (togo or not) so then why is your focus on the outside/3rd party/delivery apps because those must be the orders that you're fulfilling. Poorly managed but to the extent where you wonder if it's intentional, like they wanted the crowd and the hype but didn't really want that many people getting the 50% off deal. It's almost like they wanted you to give up and pay DoorDash full pricing instead (because you're already there) and those delivery orders are the ones you see actually getting prepared vs the people sitting inside. Also, it's not like the people seated were taking forever to eat ok. I want to say people were eating at a normal place no one was camping out wasting time (or at least from what I could tell) but it just took long for the food to get brought out and not all the tables were occupied. So you have empty tables and seated tables with no food. If you're so concerned about the kitchen getting backed up there's definitely ways to stagger seating and not just keep the place empty. We waited until noon, but the waitlist didn't move at all. Meanwhile, about half of the tables inside were empty. A staff member eventually told us they wouldn't even start seating anyone until 1:00 PM--a full hour later! On top of that, we saw a stream of online orders being fulfilled. When we asked, we learned the 50% discount didn't even apply to online orders, yet staff were prioritizing those takeout orders, leaving them no time to serve the customers physically waiting outside. I understand that perhaps this is the first time you've had an event like this and it seemingly was understaffed and everyone was working very hard. Completely understand all that. However, I was 9th place in line. They let the first 8 parties in and 2 reservations. I counted and there's definitely more than 10 tables in the establishment. In my opinion, you should've seated everyone until inside was full and if kitchen was backed up you could've let them know the estimated wait time. Instead, I was the 9th party and waited an hour to get seated (despite there being tables available). On top of that, while I was waiting, people that wanted to order takeout just walked straight in. The server let me know they were DoorDash orders and I think that simply was not true and I know this because some of those people asked me if they have to wait in the line to order takeout and I told them to ask the employee, and then they ended up inside standing in line right after the first 8 parties that were called in. So despite me being there before, I somehow ended up behind the queue of people that are going in and ordering takeout orders. This ultimately delays the wait time for everyone that was on the dine in list because these takeout orders are in front of them in the queue. How do I think you should fix this for tomorrow? Either change the deal to be dine in only and any takeout/delivery apps should all be full priced and go through the delivery apps OR have a physical waitlist that has people indicate if they're dining in or doing takeout. Fill the restaurant according to that list. Once the restaurant is full, if kitchen has capacity to take more orders, let the takeout individuals order. Once dine in customers start leaving, let more parties in from the dine in queue. I genuinely like the food here and hope the best but this was ridiculous and I hope management reads this review thoroughly and changes the process for day 2 of the anniversary deal. I've gotten takeout here 3x. While I like the concept and really wanted to like the place, I like other ddeokbokki joints in the area much better. My biggest issue is the overcooked ramen. I've had plenty of takeouts from other places for ddeokbokki, budae jjigae, etc. where ramen is part of the menu and never had this issue. Other places would give you undercooked ramen on the side that you can put in your takeout order once you're ready to eat instead of having it mixed in and soak up all the soups/sauces. With the ramen sitting there getting bloated, all the ddeokbokki sauce is gone by the time I get home in 10-15 mins. One recent improvement compared to my first visit when it first opened is now there's a "solo ddeokbokki" option for lunch on weekdays. You are limited in the number of rice cake types and toppings you can select, but the portion is way more manageable for 1 person. I like that they have a few fun types of rice cakes like corn, cheese, noodle shaped, etc. Also love that you can include mushrooms, veggies, beef, etc. and the crunch on top, though, again, would be great if the crunch were in a separate container. The female taking our order was extremely rude and seemed offended when we asked simple questions and gave us snippy answers/rolled her eyes/a blank stare. When we explained it wasn't, she just yelled at her coworker to give us some. After giving us our order, the worker also just sat at a table on her phone the whole time, and we didn't want to ask her anything to make her more angry. The food is DELICIOUS!!! The Tteokbokki is so tasty and fresh! We ordered the value meal good for 3 people and I think it can serve 5 people. The original chicken is very crunchy and good. They ran the worst, poorly planned 1 year anniversary event ever. They were severely understaffed, the tables were not being cleared in time to take the next guests (like 3-4 tables just stayed uncleaned and empty for like 30+ minutes), and they stopped taking online orders half way through the first day of the event even though the promotion literally said in person & togo orders. We showed up around 5pm on Saturday but they had already closed the waitlist and were no longer accepting online orders too. There were so many people who showed up just to be turned back. We tried to get togo early Sunday morning the next day but they didn't take any online orders nor answered their calls. They really hyped up the promotions only to be understaffed and delivered nothing to majority of the people that showed up. read more

Came here with my sis before we had a little cookie decorating event. Ordering was pretty smooth and they have a really good selection of toppings and rice cakes. I did ask for ONE of a couple of things and they gave me extra which isn't always a bad thing since I didn't reach my limit on anything. I really enjoyed the cheesy rice cakes but they do get overheated really quickly. I didn't mind the subtle ness of the spice with the rose sauce, but it honestly didn't really taste like much. If you like Tteokbokki, I think this is a must try spot. I will admit I wouldn't consider myself an expert with this dish, but I thought it was delicious and the concept is very cool. You are seated, and then you walk up to a Chipotle style counter where you build your Tteokbokki bowl! There are multiple different types of rice cakes to choose from! Veggies, proteins, and noodles are added- you pick your sauce and they could it and bring to your table. Because you can load up your bowl with whatever you want, it's perfect for going with a group- at the very least, a pair that can eat! The bowls cost $30- so it seems a bit spendy for a solo eater. They also have Korean fried chicken and some assorted appetizers. I have been here twice and we will def be going back. read more

Love that there is finally a spot where you can customize your own ddeokbokki (korean rice cakes). You get a table, and then you are directed to choose the type of rice cakes that you want, veggies, protein, noodles and more! The both times I've gone with my coworkers, we've said yes to everything and they don't skimp out just because you want all the toppings. The rose sauce is perfect for those that can handle mild space, and the dooki original is more on the medium spice level. Personally for me, I recommend getting the big glass noodles over the ramen, but the ramen does a better job soaking up the flavors from sauces. You can ask for both in the same bowl as well. The fried goodies are a must and it tastes even better when you dip it in the sauce. If you love sesame oil, the dooki rice is drenched in that...so delicious! Even though I'm not a super big fan of korean rice cakes compared to my friends and coworkers, I still enjoyed this spot and have returned twice! There's plenty of parking in the plaza even though it may seem crowded during lunch time. You may just have to walk a bit further. read more

I was so excited to try this place after hearing it was all you can build - and it reached my expectations! My partner and I shared one which was enough for us. We actually had a lot more food leftover too! The sauce that we got was Dookki Original. I thought it was the perfect sauce as someone who is not too good at spice but want a small kick to it. We also got an order of the mixed fried snacks which was a good addition to our bowl. Service was great. We came on a Saturday night and we got seated right away. This is now one of my favorite places to eat in Fullerton and I can't wait to come here again when i'm craving some tteokbeokki! read more

What a fun, fun, FUN way to eat tteokbokki!!! My friend saw this place trending on Instagram and shared it to our group, so we commuted an hour just to try this place. It did NOT disappoint! This place is truly a new way to eat this popular and beloved Korean dish, with a huge variety of customization combined with the fun experience of sharing a bowl with family and/or friends! It is a bit confusing at first, but staff will guide you to how many shareable bowls + burners you want on your table (depends on your party size), and will guide you throughout the process. It is basically a process of choosing what tteokbokki shape you want, toppings, proteins, spice level +sauces. Then, they cook it for you. You pay at the end. You can order Korean fried chicken while you wait, which also has a lot of options and was delish! I came with a part of 6 and we had 3 bowls shared amongst us, which was MORE than enough! We got embarrassed as we saw parties of like 5 sharing only 1 lol. But this of course depends on your appetite and if you want to bring the rest of the food home! So I actually feel more okay in terms of flavor when it comes to tteokbokki. Thankfully, there are SO many options to customize your tteokbokki here! I was able to find different tteokbokki shape and to get less of it, while opting for glass + udon noodles to substitute for the less tteokbokki amount. This worked out perfectly for me!
