This place definitely surprised me. Similar to Vox kitchen, it's a Vietnamese and Peruvian fusion restaurant. The food is delicious! Lots of flavor and well balanced! The pho is spot on just like the ones in garden grove! Their saltado has their own unique style to it, but very delicious. The prawn garlic noodles were delicious! The service was fast and efficient. We came for dinner and it was pretty busy. We waiting about 10 mins for a table! They took our order and food came out within reasonable time. Omeli is a super solid option for Vietnamese/Peruvian fusion food. This spot is on the Yelp Top 100 Restaurants in the OC and I'd say it's well deserved. The menu has a decent variety of food, including garlic noodles, rice bowls, fried rice, pho, and other items. During my visit, I ordered the garlic noodles with shaken beef and all I have to say is YUM. I absolutely enjoyed everything about it and would highly recommend it. Stopped by on a Thursday night and the restaurant was busy, so we had a short wait before getting seated. Parking is available in a lot, but it was pretty full when we arrived, so we ended up parking farther away, but still within the same lot. Inside was nice, and we were seated in the corner so had some privacy to our meal. We ordered a few different dishes to share, and honestly, everything was really good. The cucumber salad was simple but well done. The cucumbers were crunchy, and the dressing had plenty of flavor without being too heavy. The spicy wontons had a nice kick, although they were a little salty for my taste. Still, the spice and overall flavor made them easy to keep eating. The Filet Fried Rice was another standout. The filet was tender, and the fried rice itself had a good balance of flavor without being overly greasy. The Grilled Chicken Garlic Noodles were also solid, with a good amount of garlic flavor that paired well with the chicken. It was great, but nothing that blew my mind. I'm a big fan of both Vietnamese and Peruvian food so I'm glad we have Omeli close to home. We had three dishes and the nui bo luc lac was our favorite. Amazing flavors and cooked really well. Good chewy noodles, crunchy sautéd veggies and tender filet. Ended up finishing that dish until the plate was empty. We also had the grilled pork rice bowl which was also good. The fish sauce has a bit of a kick to it and was very flavorful. The pork itself was a touch too salty for me but the amount of pork they gave was so generous. I found myself wanting more rice (in a good way) to balance all the meat they gave. Lastly we had the beef ball pho. I don't know what it was but it was extremely salty or vinegar and had a distinct taste that wasn't to my liking. The onions/cilantro provided with it were also very wilted. If you're familiar with Kei Concept's Sup Noodle Bar or Vox Kitchen, this place is very similar in terms of their offerings. This restaurant is located in a plaza with a decent amount of parking. We put our name on the Yelp waitlist and were seated immediately. We ordered the pho short rib ($16.95), lomo saltado ($19.95), and omeli's spicy wontons ($13.95). The pho came in a huge bowl with huge ribs that were tender. I liked that the broth was saltier than others I've had that it didn't need any of the typical fixings like hoisin sauce or sriracha. Also, like Sup and Vox they provided unlimited refills on noodles and gave larger portions of extra noodles. The lomo saltado had a smaller portion of beef although it was tender. I typically like to upgrade my rice to garlic noodles but it was $8 extra which didn't feel worth it to me. The spicy wontons were spicier than they looked but the sauce didn't coat the wontons the way others do; it wasn't as thick of a sauce and it was less hints of chili oil and more of sesame oil. read more

You get unlimited pho btw, but heck I could barely finish what I had. TLDR: this dish is great to share and/or one that you might need to finish later. Appetizers? I don't often do appetizers but I loved the menu (and MAYBE I was also starving), that I tried the refreshing Spring Crunch Slaw. Absolute winner. Crunchy cabbage, carrot, cilantro, roasted peanuts, fried shallots, chili oil, sesame peanut dressing. Yum! You can add a protein to that, and the tofu seemed like a good idea. My server absolutely seconded that motion. So good. The giant blocks of tofu are lightly fried and sat atop the deeply satisfying slaw. The prawn with garlic noodles had big prawns and portions felt fair. We also got the crispy calamari as an appetizer and it was good, but it was a bit on the chewy your side and especially after you bring it home to reheat. It's pretty chewy. Let start off by saying, I'm no expert but I do own a Vietnamese restaurant my self (30mins away). So I'm not competing or comparing. But when I go out to eat, I expect good food with the hard earned money I made slaving in the kitchen 12+hrs a day. I don't care much about looks or presentation, but cleanliness and the food is what matters. If your front of house is dirty, can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. Not saying this place is dirty but it does need a little more attention on detail. First impressions sitting down. The tables are sticky. Not the dirty kind of sticky. The kind that they repainted the surface with some type of oil stain and it remained sticky. Or it's old and sticky. Strike one. Then I go look at their condiment holder, it's disgusting. Idk how long they been open but it's never been wiped down or rinsed off and has nasty funky stuff on it. Not only that but I can tell they refill and reuse their hoisin bottles. The label is all torn up and rubbed off due to the metal holder. Invest in refillable plastic bottles that cost like $1-2. And it has a cleaner look. No one looks at the label and ingredients or else they would ask. Strike 2. At this point, I was going to walk out. I then proceeded to stay and noticed they just opened at 11am and it was just before 12 and they were packed. Must be good. Fine I'll stay. My husband ordered the ox tail fried rice. I ordered the soft shell crab curry with white rice and ribeye steak with garlic noodles. The ox tail fried rice fell flat in flavor for me. It was very mono tone with no layering flavors. My husband said it's a bit on the dry side. Maybe if they topped it off with scallion oil and fried shallots, it would bring it up a level. The side of fish sauce was the only leveling factor in this dish. Only finished less than half. The ribeye garlic noodles. First off the lady asked how I'd like my steak. I asked for it medium rare. I got medium. You can see in my photos. It was pre marinated, you can tell, and so there for, yes it was tender and juicy and have flavored. The garlic noodles... unfortunately I can tell it was pre packaged yaki-soba noodles. It's on the soft side and not fresh noodles. You can tell just by looking at it as it has edges and curves to it that only package noodles have. Fresh noodles have a bite or bounce to it. Oh and the green sauce? You mean mayo blended with cilantro? If you're going to call your self Peruvian restaurant, know how to make traditional green sauce. Traditional green sauce has not only mayo and cilantro but it has green peppers (Serrano/jalapeno) lime juice, and garlic. The sauce was not refreshing nor addicting. Didn't finish this either. Lastly the crab curry. I'd say this is probably the best thing I had. The soft shell crab was crispy with a lite breading but the star of the show is the curry. The crab was the main reason I got the dish but it wasn't the show stopper for me. You could have opt for traditional duck or chicken bone in and it would still be good. It's not Thai curry. It's traditional Vietnamese curry that I felt my own mom cooked as that curry has layers. Lemongrass, coconut cream, onion and potatoes. The potatoes give it the starchiness that you only get in traditional cooking. Something that was stewed for hours. The only thing I would fix on that dish is wanting it more thick. My rice should be coated in the curry not just wet from the sauce. Would I go here again? Probably not. Instagram hype worth it? Nope Busy place, busy plaza. And for a Tuesday. Even harder to find parking even tho they have a big parking lot. Had to loop around a few times. read more

I've been to Omeli twice, and both times, the food was great. The times I have been here, I have ordered the Saltado, Calamari, Shaken Beef Garlic Noodles, and the Ribeye Garlic Noodles. I don't like to compare, but if you've ever been to Vox Kitchen, the type of food is somewhat similar, except Omeli has Pho, which I am yet to try but will try next time, as I've heard great things. The garlic noodles are great, and I think the noodles themselves and the sauce are a standout of the dish by far, and I think are better than Vox's. The calamari here was just alright. Both times I've gotten it, it has come out almost soggy and chewy, like it needed to be in the fryer for another minute, but the flavor was still good. They also have a wide selection of drinks, and I recommend the deja-vu lemonade, it is very refreshing. The one thing I have to knock is the service. Both times I've gone, service has been a bit of miss. The restaurant is pretty small, but it still took a while to get menus and for someone to take our order. The food comes out quick though, but during the meal, no one came to ask how everything was or give water refills, and it took a while after we were done to flag someone down to get the check. The beef cubes were very tender & flavorful, and the sautéed bell peppers, onions and mushrooms were cooked perfectly. The Beef Short rib pho was massive. They give extra noodles upon request, but the portion it starts off with is more than enough. The beef is tender and falls off the bone. The noodles were cooked perfect and the broth is very tasty. I feel the only sauce you need to add to your liking is Sriracha for spiciness. The Spicy wontons were okay and had a spicy sauce, but nothing special to it. The restaurant had a good number of tables, and nicely decorated. The service and staff were friendly and attentive, but they were also short staffed. WOW! Amazing Viet food! From the outside, the restaurant is quite unassuming; essentially, a "hole-in-the-wall." Upon entering, there is definitely a "home-y" vibe with lots of plants lining the walls and warm lighting. You can really tell that the owners put a lot of thought into the ambience of the place. We were seated and served relatively quickly. I got the Lomo Saltado (recommended as the best seller by the waiter) while my friend got the garlic noodles with Salmon. Came on a Sunday afternoon around 4pm and was seated quickly. It's a cute corner restaurant, with wood elf vibes - think lots of wood panels and fake plant/vines. service was fast. Ordered the bbq pork spring rolls, pho - short rib, and lomo saltado ($54 with tax). The spring rolls were good but nothing amazing. I really enjoyed the pho, which had two big pieces of short ribs. My fiancé loved his lomo saltado, the steak was super tender and the crinkle fries were crispy! He thought the aji sauce was okay - the proportions were slightly off but still good. I think too mayonnaise-y/thick/creamy compared to the ones from actual Peruvian restaurants. Definitely would come again, I want to try the ox tail fried rice and some of the other dishes. read more
