Parmesan maki

We went on a Saturday night without a reservation and were seated at the counter. Front the greeting to the chefs serving us at the counter, it was such a great experience. I loved that they gave us a description and then presented us with the food. This place is super unique because it's a Peruvian and Japanese fusion. Something I've ever had before. I loved the lighting in the place. It set the mood for a calming and inviting experience. We ordered the tiger scallop. So good! It was so refreshing with the shallots and dried sweet potato crackers Udon saltado was so simple yet well balanced with the crunch and spice of the shallots, with the creaminess of the sauce and the shrimps were savory and had a nice chew to it. The chutaro maki had a nice citrus flavor. So clean and delicious! The Parmesan maki was smoky with had a nice cheesy taste to it. So good!

Came here for an early dinner Sunday and got seated right away without a reservation. But I highly recommend people to make reservation bc as soon as 7pm hits, they were packed. We tried two special menu (105usd and a 85usd ones) and it e got plenty of food to share between the two of us and everything came quick. For app, we got tiger scallops, shrimps with mushrooms and ceviche. The ceviche is their signature and I got right, very refreshing and flavorful and fish was tender with the crushy texture from the harmonies. The scallops were very soft and melt in your mouth. The udon was good but not impressive. All the sushi and rolls were fresh and I liked that the origini came with the sauces and topping and no soy sauce needed. The hand rolls filled with the fresh fishes. Service was good and attentive, will come again!

I came here the other night and had a truly great experience. The food was absolutely amazing--every dish was flavorful and high-quality. The restaurant is small and intimate, tucked away right next to a few coffee shops and other spots in downtown Fullerton, which gives it a nice local vibe. Our server was fantastic; they were very friendly and took the time to explain each dish as it was brought to the table. For the quality of the food we received, the pricing was very reasonable and not too expensive. If you're looking for a cozy spot with great service in Fullerton, this is it!

This place has become one of my favorite restaurants! For my 2 year anniversary, we came here to celebrate. Being from Miami, I sorely miss eating Peruvian food. With Japanese food being one of my favorite cuisines, this fusion was a delight. Since we were celebrating, we opted for the omakase at the bar. We were lucky to snag a couple seats at the bar with no reservation but it was a Thursday night. The journey Riccardo took us on was beyond delightful. I wholeheartedly believe no one does ceviche and seafood better than Peruvians. Riccardo made the statement abundantly clear. Their ceviche took me back home to Miami. Once I tasted the authenticity, I knew I had to try their Causa. I wish I had time to talk about each dish but each course was delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed each course and was fortunate to share some sake with Riccardo and Richard. The ambiance was very nice and chic. Very appropriate for a nice date night. Overall, I would come here again for the omakase and to try other stuff I have not had a chance to.

Tried Akashiro in Fullerton recently and had a pretty good experience overall. The food was interesting and the quality was definitely there. Everything we ordered was well prepared and tasted fresh. They didn't have the specific bottle of wine we originally wanted, but it wasn't a big deal and we ended up choosing something else that worked out fine. Service could have been a bit better in terms of attentiveness, but everyone was still friendly and welcoming. Prices weren't too bad either considering the quality of the food. Overall it was a solid experience and I think it's worth checking out if you're in the area.

We are a big fan of Nikkei (Peruvian/ Japanese food) and have tried other places around OC. Because of that, we were hyped and decided to bring some friends for a birthday dinner. Unfortunately we were not amazed, especially for the prices, but the food wasn't disappointing. Service was fantastic though and ambiance was really great. We ordered: Peruvian ceviche 3/5 Fried yucca 3/5 Parmesan scallops 5/5 Bluefin tuna tiradito 4/5 Pulpo olivo 4/5 Akashiro Maki sushi roll 3/5 Shogun maki 5/5 Nikkei maki 4/5 Chutoro maki 4/5

Was a great experience with $165 Omakase of Peruvian flavor, never had Sushi come with citrusy flavors. The beautiful ambiance, I love how this place is quiet to dine in. Overall great food, service and attentive. I love everything. I must be back for nigiri

Decent size seating area with a great night dining ambiance! Right off of the main downtown Fullerton area. Loved the rolls as they had that fusion Japanese and Peruvian flavors. Our server explained each dish when he brought it and that was a nice touch. Everything tasted great and the dining area was very comfortable for long conversations! Prices are comparable to other sushi dining, and there's plenty of parking in the area too.

Ordered their omakase for two for dinner and the taste was good! For the price, I was expecting a bit more better quality but the superb service made up for it. The presentation and servers made it an exceptional experience.

I've been hearing about Akashiro for a while on social media and finally got to try it! This restaurant did not disappoint! I went with my boyfriend at around 6pm on a Friday night and there was no wait. There is a parking structure behind the restaurant that had a lot of spots available, which was also really convenient! The inside of the restaurant was a very modern and clean aesthetic. It had dim lighting with beautiful decor all around and was very clean! They also offered both tables and bar services. Our server immediately came up to us and began explaining the menu. He was so kind and I loved how for every dish he would explain it in depth! This place is more of a tapas style spot, so the of us ended up ordering about 7 dishes plus 1 dessert. We got the Peruvian ceviche, Parmesan scallops, pulpo olivo, chutoro maki, bluefin tuna tiradito, nikkei bluefin tuna, and salmon Parmesan with lucuma ice cream for dessert! The food served here is Japanese Peruvian fusion and it was so delicious! Each dish was so unique, but you really can't go wrong with the Parmesan scallops! I'd definitely recommend checking out Akashiro for your next dinner out!

$10 ALBACORE NIKKEI (2 pieces): seared & comes with oyster sauce & crispy quinoa. It was good.

AMBIANCE (3/5): This place was way smaller than I thought it would be. Came during a weekday and it was EMPTY! It's on the darker side, maybe better for a date night than a girls night (as what I was doing). SERVICE (3/5): The service was PROMPT & POLITE, however, neither me nor my friend could hear nor understand ANYTHING our server told us the entire time. We just shook our heads yes to be polite. They come to drop off the food and also explain the dish, but we had no idea what we were eating. She checked on us all the time and our waters were never empty. Mainly just not being able to hear/understand our server was a bummer. FOOD (4/5): All the food was good, but just not AMAZING. Plus the price point for the amount of food & flavors wasn't justified for me. Maybe I just didn't love the Japanese/Peruvian fusion? $18 PARMESAN SCALLOPS (4 pieces): this was one of my favorite items of the night! One whole Hokkaido scallop with warm melty Parmesan and some crispy bits for texture. AMAZING! 10/10 $10 NIKKEI BLUEFIN TUNA (2 pieces): thin slices, yummy, but nothing special. $10 SALMON PARMESAN (2 pieces): one of my favorite sushi bites! It's seared & anything with Parmesan at this place is to die for. $10 SALMON POKE (2 pieces): thin slices of fish, has the aji Amarillo sauce on it, was OK. $10 ALBACORE NIKKEI (2 pieces): seared & comes with oyster sauce & crispy quinoa. It was good. $9 YELLOWTAIL HANDROLL: it was different from a normal handroll, fell apart easily, big slices of fish. Again, nothing special. $20 CHUTORO MAKI: (substituted the fried fish with fried salmon) very unique, I did not enjoy the flavors on this. It had WAY too much citrus. $4 KIZAMI WASABI: pickled wasabi. I LOVE THIS! Way better than the fake/paste wasabi. TRY IT! I'm sad when a Japanese restaurant doesn't offer it. $10 PERUVIAN CHOCOLATE CAKE: it's served COLD. I wish it said that on the menu. There's caramel on the bottom, then cake, then whipped cream. Didn't finish it. Small cup. Neither of us liked it. OVERALL (3/5): Sadly, I would not come back here. It's not that the food was bad, but it just wasn't my style. I didn't think anything blew me away & the price seemed too expensive for flavors that I didn't think were amazing. Maybe I don't like the fusion? But I know I like both Japanese and Peruvian food. I was expecting more because the photo presentation and reviews looked amazing, but was disappointed when I left.

Bluefin tuna tiradito

My sister and I had been looking forward to trying this place as Peruvians and sushi lovers, we were not disappointed. Amazing delicious 10/10 everything was awesome. We came on a friday night around 8pm, I was afraid we wouldnt get seated but surprisingly they kept seating people even at 9pm. My sister and I were excited to see peruvian cocktails, we both got the chicha morada cocktail and it was delish. I asked for a lime because I like to have a spritz of lime in my chicha morada. Not pictured but I also had a second cocktail the passion sake one and it was also good. The pulpo olivo has a smoky flavor but its very good, the chimichurri pairs well with the olive mayo. The tuna tiradito was perfectly well rounded with flavor and texture. The aji amarillo and camote chip on the nikkei tuna really made for a perfect bite. The yellowtail sashimi and sashimi platter were so good! So fresh and tender. I tend to dislike salmon as its overly fishy no matter where I go but it was delicious and fresh here with absolutely no fishy notes. One big bummer was the dry ice was placed on top of one of the pieces of sashimi so there was a little waste of food (': i appreciate the yuzu kosho dabs on the sashimi and fresh grated wasabi. Cant wait to come back!

We loved the ambiance, and the food was delicious! Loved the unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavors. 10/10 would come back! There's 2 different omakase you can get, I believe $165 and $80. We did the $80 since we can't eat too much and it was perfect! We ordered some additional sides like the pulpo and scallops. The scallops were divine! The drinks were okay, they could do better (not a full bar). Parking is easy, in a garage next to it (free). I'm surprised there's not more people here, it's a gem! Can't wait to come back. The sushi chefs were also so friendly and easy to talk to.

It's a bigger portion than the dish I had more than a year ago. Also, this doesn't have wonton strips and peas. You order at front, and food and drinks get sent to your table. There's also a 3% surcharge to your subtotal for using a card. They cook your food to order here, and I could smell the fried rice getting prepared on the stove. The fried rice is strong in flavor but not too salty. It's similar to what you might get from a teppanyaki restaurant. The chicken was also good, but I felt that the rice had much more flavor. It wasn't really juicy as well. Otherwise, this made for a great dish, and I had some leftovers for the next day.

Sabor perpetuates this reputation by having a nigh-perfect example of how to make this dish sing. I loved every bite of this, even at $21 for the half-chicken version of it. The service was okay--quick to answer questions and getting our food out to us in a relatively timely manner. What was nice too is Sabor didn't go the route of charging for each aji verde sauce, which I liked. When you're used to going through half-a-bottle with every polla a la brasa meal, it's very important that that wonderful concoction is ready to go when you're ready for another bite of chicken, fries, or sometimes by itself. The space is kind of limited and I really wish it had more diners coming through. But as it was it had an okay vibe to it, like you're eating at your local spot that the tourists and gawkers haven't caught up with. I think it's a prime candidate for just bringing a book to allow time for your food to digest after. I think this spot will be a new addition to the local eat rotation, especially after the Fullerton Central Library meet-ups.

I was recommended this restaurant by a relative and they brought us here for dinner on Sunday! They have their own parking lot but there's very limited spaces if it does get busy. Walking in, we were instantly greeted and asked how many were in our party. We were instantly seated but there were quite a few occupied big tables around us. I couldn't catch our waitress's name but she was so attentive and nice to us! She would come ask if we needed refills, napkins, extra utensils, or extra bread and butter. After you order, you get complimentary bread and butter! They also have this green spicy sauce that you can dip your bread in. Between the 8 of us, we ordered 1 soup, 1 appetizer, and 4 main dishes! Everything came out so fast and was so tasty! You can even see the chefs preparing the food through the transparent glass. Food: Lomo Saltado (9/10): I absolutely loved this dish! The only thing I will say is that it was on a little salty for me but that's not something a little water couldn't help with. The beef was cooked so nicely, it was tender and the portioned nicely so it could be chewed with each bite. The grilled onions were for sure my favorite part. The onions soaked in all the sauce but were still crunchy which adds a nice texture to the soggy french fries. The french fries also soaked in all the sauce! There's also a side of rice to help make you more full! Tallarines Salteo de Carne (9/10): This dish was identical to the lomo saltado but instead of french fries, it was noodles! I equally loved this dish since they used the same sauce but with noodles instead! I had no complaints except it was on the saltier side but didn't mind it at all. Everything's the same as my lomo saltado review, perfectly cooked meat and onions! Jalea de Mariscos (9/10): This was our appetizer! It comes with a few fried items (fish fillet, shrimp, and squid). I think there are also Yukon potatoes but I could be mistaking it for another form of potato. The squids are fried in bite sized and they're so easy to eat! It also comes with an onion salsa that's so delicious! The salsa is sour so definitely be careful when dunking your food in there. I believe that this one comes in a half or full size!

I been eating here for over a decade. It changed names a while back if i remember correctly Overall i was disappointed for $60 for the 3 plates. I checked online for the amount it would be $59.27 for the 3 plates, when i tried to call in the order i was quoted 64, i asked why the difference as it should have been cheeper as i had an addition Convenience Fee: $2.49. So i ordered it online. I wanted to pay cash but ened up getting cash back from the CC purchase. The waitress who gave me my order did it with a big smile, That was the best part of the meal.

The veggies were vibrant, the fries stayed crispy, and the meat was cooked exactly to temperature. It's a tricky dish to get right, but they absolutely nailed it. My wife had the Ceviche de Camarón, and she couldn't wait to dig in. The shrimp tasted incredibly fresh, the lime, red onion, cilantro, and ají amarillo/limo pepper came together with that bright citrus‑chili punch you want in a true Peruvian ceviche. Even the details were spot‑on: perfectly cooked choclo and sweet potato with just the right texture. The only thing I'd tweak is the chicha morada -- a bit sweet for my taste, but easy to adjust with a splash of water without losing the flavor. To top it all off, the manager, Angel, stopped by to check on us, which says a lot about their attention to customers. With flavors like these, I'll definitely be coming back and recommending Ají Limón to anyone craving authentic Peruvian cuisine.
