    Tonkatsu

Nice place. The service is okay. Easy parking. Order through the screen on the table. Tonkatsu 5/5 Jumbo katsu 5/5 ordered with sauce on the side. the crust and sauce are different from regular tonkatsu Cheese katsu (add on) 3.5/5 too much cheese for me but if you like cheese. You probably will like it.

88 Katsu checks all three boxes: good food, fair prices, and solid service. The Korean-style tonkatsu sauce was delicious, and the curry was also surprisingly high quality. I ordered the jumbo tonkatsu, and while it didn't feel quite "jumbo," I actually preferred it this way. A lot of places make their jumbo portions look bigger by pounding the meat paper-thin, which I dislike. This one was still a satisfying size without sacrificing the thickness of the pork. The only small disappointment was the cold soba. The balance between the tsuyu and the noodles was very good, but some of the noodles were clumped together. They could have been loosened a little more thoroughly during preparation. I went back and forth between four and five stars, but there really isn't another place in the area serving tonkatsu at this level. Whenever I'm craving tonkatsu nearby, this will probably be my first choice.

Went for early lunch with my mom on a Sunday! It was not too crowded and I love how easy it is to order. 4/5 I tried the Katsu Don this time. It was very filling and I liked the egg. When I got down to the rice, it was soaked with some type of sweet soup. I also asked for the spicy sauce on the side to dip my chicken in.

Cheese katsu! Try with wasabi and salt!

Fullerton finally has a great katsu and udon place!!!! This is already my 6th time here and everyone I bring with loves it here. Their food taste, quality and presentation are all really great. The atmosphere is very clean and comforting as well. They serve their katsu with wasabi and salt and it really brings out the best flavor of the meat! I strongly recommend this place especially with kids. My kids are very picky eaters but I know they will eat so well here. Our server Jessie was really nice and accommodating as well. When I told her that my daughter has sesame seed allergies, she asked if her allergy was only to sesame seeds or oil as well (very rare for a server to care this much to ask). I really appreciate their attentiveness and to make sure anyone that comes here can safely enjoy the dining experience. Thank you!

Are you craving for Japanese Katsu, Tonkatsu, Soba, or udon soup? Check out this spot. This restaurant is located in Amerige Heights Town Center shopping and dining plaza. All the tables are hooked with mini tablet ordering system. Once you order is placed, it will be sent directly to the kitchen. Ordered Katsu Don - $16.88. Chickens with rice, scrambled eggs, pickled radish, jalapeños, and miso broth soup. My dish originally comes with pork so I substituted Chicken for $1.88 more. I loved the perfectly cooked breaded crispy chickens with savory rice, eggs and onions. Overall, the flavor of this dish was perfect. The miso soup was so good that I wanted more. It wasn't salty like most places. It was just perfect broth perfect. I adde extra spice to kick up the knot. Super friendly staff. Ambiance is really nice. Overall, great Japanese comfort food!

I was intrigued by 88 Katsu when I came across it on Yelp - located in Amerige Heights Town Center. Parking right in front is a bit limited, but there's plenty available in the larger shared plaza with stores like Barnes & Noble and Target nearby. We came in with a party of 8 around noon on a Sunday and were seated pretty quickly after adding our name to the waitlist on the tablet up front. Each table also has a tablet for ordering, which made the process super easy. I tried the 88 Tonkatsu ($16.88), Spicy Tonkatsu ($18.88), and Fishcake Udon ($13.88). Portions were generous across the board, but the pork was unfortunately a bit dry. The spicy tonkatsu dipping sauce stood out as it had great flavor with a nice kick. The udon was just okay; the noodles were thick and chewy, but it only came with a couple pieces of fish cake. Each katsu set came nicely presented with sauce, cabbage salad, miso soup, white rice, pickled jalapeño, and kimchi radish. There's a decent amount of indoor seating with an open layout. The place seems to turn tables over quickly, so even when it gets busy the wait doesn't seem too bad.

The katsu here was very good. Generous portion and has variety of it. My daughter got the curry katsu and I got the spicy katsu. I would love to try the jumbo katsu next time. The curry was just OK. My daughter and I prefer the curry from our local restaurant instead. The spicy sauce was some gojuchang mix and it was very spicy for me. I enjoyed the spicy sauce even though I kept drinking the water.

Chicken Katsu and Jumbo Katsu with side of spicy sauce

TLDR - Good food, good service, plenty of parking, nice place to have dinner - would recommend. Came here on a Saturday for lunch with friends and we got a couple things - the chicken katsu and the jumbo pork katsu. I wasn't too big a fan of their normal katsu sauce or their katsu sauce for the jumbo katsu but the spicy sauce is VERY good. I'd def recommend getting that on the side. Katsu wise, both are good - the chicken katsu is more tender but the pork katsu is more flavorful in my opinion. Really can't go wrong with either. The sides are typical but not bad.

Our server Elly provided great service! The restaurant is clean and has a chill ambiance to it. The food is delicious and will recommend to friends / family.

Everything was delicious! I loved that I could add cheese katsu to the King Pork Katsu, and the portions were perfect. Our server Jay was very friendly, and everyone was so kind. Highly recommend--we'll definitely be back!

    Curry Tonkatsu

This place has been on my list for months and I'm so happy I went. First off their katsu's are big proportions, and are worth your money. The chicken and pork katsu's are seasoned well and marinated well- they are crispy! Unlike other katsu places, I genuinely enjoyed their meal. The salad and banchans were a good add-on. Not sure if the soup is miso, but the soup was also good. The food presentation is cute, made me want to take the tray home for myself tbh. I love that they separated everything, and made it look so neat. The curry tonkatsu is filled with flavors that go well with the meat. The chicken katsu was not too strong, it was sweet enough. I liked how we were able to order everything on the iPad, as it made deciding so much easier. The service was good, nothing really special in my opinion. Would definitely come back again!

Its been the go-to curry spot since I first tried it. Their curry is very flavorful and the katsu has that perfect crunch texture. Our waitress Elly was very friendly and attentive whenever we needed anything. As a bonus I really enjoy the atmosphere and the chill music they play while you enjoy your food.

The gyukatsu was tender and juicy with a crispy coating, and I loved being able to cook each piece on the hot stone exactly how I wanted it. The whole set was filling and came with plenty of sides. Inside smells like Japan bbq perhaps because of the popular premium set, the 11 years old boy enjoyed the cooking experience and the food quality, unfortunately he didn't feel full after finishing the $46 set -- the food portion was on the small side, even the 6 years old boy almost finished everything except 4 slices beef left. Comparing with the premiums Kobe set , I enjoyed much with the fish curry katsu, flavorful , crispy and juicy inside. Also happy about the portion and price $18.50. For the plain udon, the little one really enjoyed it and the portion is good enough for the 6 years old boy enjoyed, around $9.95. Overall, the food is good, the inside ventilation needs a little improvement, and the premium set can add a little more . Recommended for family and friends gatherings if not too price cautious. The ingredients and food flavor are good .

DECENT FOOD, TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT…read more I've been here twice, and I can honestly say I think the food is decent, but the manager needs additional training or something. Let me tell y'all what happened and why I will not go back, ever. Service: 0/5 I ordered food to-go for my staff members birthday; I waited about 40 mins. Like others have said, they're very short staffed here and maybe that's problem #1. After some time went by, I think they realized I was sitting for a very long time for a small to-go order, so they rushed & possibly didn't secure my bag of food properly. I ordered a spicy YAKIUDON noodle meal, spicy edamame, and a fried "San Diego". When the young man gave it to me, I asked him if it was secure because it feels heavy and I'm taking it to my staff member and wanted it to be ready for him to eat. He said everything was there, it was packaged well, and sorry for the wait. WELL- LONG STORY SHORT IT WASN'T. lol. I immediately called after I got to my staff members job (15 mins away) and nothing was secure. It leaked so badly EVERYWHERE! My car, my clothes, the food was soggy- it was a literal disaster. After calling- the man apologized profusely and said he will replace EVERYTHING and to come back any time. My staff member and I were out of lunch and it was honestly embarrassing because it was their birthday. I wasted my time, spent 2x the money, and I had an extremely dirty car. I took pics, threw the food away, and went back a few days later. When I got there- the cook/ possibly owner was MAD as heck when the guy told him I was there to recollect my order. After shouting and shaking his head- I saw him cooking. When my bag came- it was awfully light and a very tiny box. I asked the server if that was everything and he was so embarrassed and kept saying he was sorry that the owners said "no." They will not replace it after all. They gave me a literal small side of noodles and that's it. The meal I originally bought came with rice, a salad, a dumpling etc. I also didn't get the edamame, or the fried San Diego! All around- I felt bad for the young man who was so embarrassed and ultimately put in the middle. He said it was wrong what they're doing to me but ultimately this place was going back on what they should do to make it right. I didn't make a scene or argue, I opted to never come back. I think things like this show the character of an establishment and it is what it is.
