I had high hopes for this restaurant because my initial experience was pleasant. The cashier was friendly when I placed my order, and everything seemed fine. Unfortunately, that changed completely after I got home. I live only a few minutes away, so I started eating almost immediately. The pork had an extremely strong, unpleasant flavor that, to me, tasted like what is commonly referred to as "boar taint." It was so overpowering that the dish was inedible. I called the restaurant to explain the situation and politely asked if I could exchange it for something else. There was an awkward silence on the phone before I finally got a reluctant and said "hello" he then replied "ok". When I returned, the entire atmosphere had changed. The friendly customer service I received earlier was gone. Instead, I was met with an uncomfortable, cold, and dismissive attitude. It genuinely felt like I was being treated as though I had done something wrong simply because I brought back food that was not edible. When I explained the issue again, the cashier looked at me as if he didn't believe me and replied, "I cooked this this morning." I simply asked if he had tasted it because the off flavor was unmistakable to me. Rather than showing any concern or attempting to understand my experience, he became even more silent and visibly irritated. There was no apology, no empathy, and no effort to make me feel like a valued customer. Yes, the replacement meal tasted fine, but by that point the damage had already been done. Great customer service isn't about never making mistakes, it's about how you handle them when they happen. Instead of taking the opportunity to resolve the issue professionally, I was made to feel like an inconvenience. The food may be good on other occasions, but customer service like this drives people away. Word of mouth is one of the most powerful forms of marketing, and treating paying customers with hostility is the worst kind of advertising a business can create for itself. I won't be returning, and I won't be recommending this restaurant to friends or family. There are plenty of places that appreciate their customers and know how to handle legitimate concerns with professionalism and respect. read more

Solid Japanese owned restaurant. The tofu and veggie bowl comes with a side of teriyaki sauce and it's pretty underwhelming, the tofu is raw instead of the typical fried tofu that comes in most tofu bowls. Not a place that I would send vegans/vegetarians but if you're dining with people that eat meat, it's nice that there is an option :) The veggie tempura is great, service is very friendly. After all these years, Okazya still hits the spot! This was one of our go-tos in high school and we found ourselves in the area over 20 *COUGH* years later so we had to stop by. The teriyaki chicken and beef are flavorful, the food is still decently priced considering current times and the amount of food you get. Nostalgia and comfort bump up the place to 4 stars for me. Parking is easy; there's a lot but could get filled up during busy times. Service is friendly and helpful. It's fast casual, so you order at the counter and find a seat. Few tables and bar seating. My bosses love this place and I have been picking up chicken bowls for them at least once a month for the past year or so. I really don't know why it took me so long to try their food! Inside is small with a handful of tables, it's very cozy and has cute decor. It always smells amazing in here! Bowls come in regular, large, and XL sizes - regular is super filling, anything bigger would become two meals for me! I have had their Deluxe Bowl, Salmon Bowl, and miso soup. Deluxe has white rice, delicious, tender, high quality chicken, a great tasting teriyaki sauce with a hint of ginger, steamed veggies, and two pork gyoza. LOVE IT. Salmon is also good, but quite plain, just a piece of salmon on top of rice, with teriyaki on the side. I'm glad I took some chili sauce to go, next time I will ask for some green onions on it as well. Miso soup is super flavorful, not watered down like other places, and is a generous portion, way larger than I was expecting. Perfect to sip on a cold, drizzly day! It's always the same guy working when I visit and he is very friendly. Every order I have called in has been ready in about 10 minutes, even when it's multiple bowls. Prices are really good, $10 - $14 per person depending on what you get. I can't wait to try more of their menu, and i'm so glad my bosses brought Okazya to my attention! read more

3.5 stars. A small business with a simple menu. Called for our food for take out and it was ready within 15-20 minutes. I ordered the chicken katsu curry but when I opened my meal at home it was the chicken curry so there was a mix up but would've been too much trouble to come back and get another dish made. Chicken curry nonetheless wasn't bad. A lot of protein compared to the rice proportion which is what you'd want anyway! Menu was good with a variety of options. They also have lunch specials. I opted for chicken teriyaki and some gyoza. The chicken was tasty and the gyozas were just okay. Was on the area craving a Teriyaki Chicken Bowl and this was close to where I was. Turned out to be an excellent choice. The chicken in the bowl was the most tender I've had in over at least 10 years. Since I'm in the area at least once a month I will be coming here in future. This is for sure a case of dont judge a book by its cover because looks sure are deceiving here! The strip mall that its in is rough. And Okazya is by all means a lil' hole in the wall. But there's something rather charming about it. Nothing fancy about this place, and you can kind of see into the kitchen and its not fancy back there either. But the lady who took my order was so nice. I didnt get her name, but she gave me some genuine recommendations. Nonetheless, I ordered the one thing that I came for...the XL Spicy Tuna Bowl. Also got some mixed tempura. Been hearing about this bowl in one of the buzz groups and had to have it. After a short wait, I got it and took it straight home. I expected a full container of spicy tuna on top of rice, and that is exactly what it was! The spicy tuna was not painfully spicy, it actually tasted slightly sweet to me. But this was a case where my expectations were 100% spot on. Highly recommend giving this place a shot. If youre doing to go, I would also recommend calling ahead. read more

Talk about a hidden gem. A very small, family owned Japanese restaurant that is great in quality and value. After moving to Fullerton 12 years ago, we struggled to find a good Japanese owned Japanese restaurant. This was a very happy find for us. The teriyaki chicken is delicious and the quality of meat is great. So much better than the chopped dark meat you get at other places. The inari is just like how my grandmother used to make it. This place is a local gem! It's a no frills mom & pop shop that cheap, delicious, and filling. I'm also a big fan of their condiment bar where you can load up on soy sauce, hot sauces, pickles, etc. to enhance your food. We got a teriyaki bowl with chicken and beef which was delicious. The teriyaki sauce wasn't overpoweringly salty and the meat was juicy. I also got a chashu bowl which was topped with green onions - soo good if you're not in the mood for teriyaki. We also got 2 fountain drinks - all this was less than $30 for 2 people. As with most mom & pop places, cash is preferred and service was very nice. I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet. Probably my favorite go to teriyaki joint. It's nostalgic and is a place I've been going to for over twenty years. Small hole on the wall restaurant with a few tables. I usually always grab this Togo and it never disappoints. I get the large half chicken half beef and if feeling hungry get a mini did of veggies. Their portions are consistent and is filling. The teriyaki is on the sweeter side but with a little spice you'll be coming back for more. Also their spicy tuna is a must try. The put it on top of a bed of sushi rice and is surprisingly refreshing and good. Grab a bowl or two or three with some gyoza and some market style cali rolls for a quick craving buster. ordered a vegetable tempura bowl, which was extremely generous! The pieces of vegetables were huge. It was pretty heavy with the grease and that's what ultimately removed a star from my review. I also ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl. I asked to add vegetables and learned that it's not an additional price because they do it by weight. I eat Flame Broiler regularly and this is similar. The sauce at this restaurant is much lighter and the chicken is probably not as intense in flavor, but the bowl is very good. I would order it again. They have a little table with condiments and they offer the ginger which is yummy but it is the pink dyed ginger, which is unfortunate. It's very tasty, however. They seem to do a good business with a ready supply of people wandering in to enjoy their food. The young man behind the register was very helpful and patient. They have various specials and that seems to be a good deal if you wanna take advantage of a daily special or a combination. I think the price is a reasonable, which is nice these days. read more

I recently returned after a long time, & the Deluxe bowl with both chicken & beef was just as delicious & satiated as I remembered it! Brown rice, terriyaki chicken & beef, steamed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower & carrots), avocado, & gyoza. Don't forget to ask for a hot sauce (sambal). It was so simple & healthy yet satisfying, good sized portion & affordably priced! I appreciated that the sauce is not too thick, nor too sweet or salty. Just perfect. Will return again soon & often! So disappointed. I wanted to like the food so bad because it looks very promising but it lacked a lot of flavor, so much so that it was bland. We walked in and there was no one there, I wanted to give the place a shot because the food on the menu looked and sounded great. They have a lot of options on the menu but I got the chicken teriyaki combo with rice and it came with noodles & salad. Overall I would say the food was edible. Took my 4 boys for early dinner after Yelping for Japanese food other than gyudon and sushi. The place wasn't busy but our orders took a while, maybe because of pick-up orders, or maybe because there was only 1 cook/chef (the owner) and an assistant who seems to be newly hired and on training. Food was okay, but not good enough to crave for. The place is clean with few tables - only 1 was occupied with a couple of diners. They have a"no-tax" if "cash-paid" policy which in this day and age, made me scratch my head. Considering the drive we took, I'd say we'll come back if we're in the area but not a "go-to" place on a regular basis. read more
