My friend and I have visited this place several times. My friend usually orders rolls, while I only eat nigiri sushi. When we order rolls and sushi at the same time, the restaurant seems to intentionally bring out the rolls first and delay serving the sushi. As a result, I had to wait a long time for my sushi. When we kept waiting, the server finally came over and asked if we still wanted the sushi. This is an AYCE sushi restaurant, and if they are going to charge extra for leftovers anyway, shouldn't they serve everything we ordered--whether rolls or sushi--without delaying one over the other? read more

was starving and down the street so I said what the he11 ill check it out. ayce $39. great. the food i got was.. tasty.. just ok. im def a sushi expert. there was a few things i ate that didnt really taste right. also everything they brought out to me had the overly sauced vinagrette. i dont want this on everything i eat. they had loud blaring music like club vibes. + the nigiri i got was barbie sized. yikes. + the baked muscles were half cold half warm + the crispy rice spicy tuna wasnt "crispy rice" it was just a lump of rice with tempura flakes on it. i unfortunetly didnt eat everything but luckily they didnt charge me extra. good luck read more

It was my first time trying this sushi place because I wanted some AYCE sushi. I think that the price and quality are pretty on par. The menu has a good amount of selections and I enjoyed all the fresh sushi pieces I tried! I went for dinner on a Saturday night and did not have to wait long for seating. Small AYCE restaurant - it'll do the job if you're craving, but service is very slow and rolls are served in full sizes so you get full faster (I prefer AYCE places that serve half rolls so you can taste test more rolls). The salmon & bluefin toro sashimi were the stars of the show -- doesn't melt in your mouth but still got a nice fatty bite. Pink Lady was the best roll -- I really enjoyed the cold big bite of salmon & imitation crab. The crispy rice & spicy tuna was alright -- rice wasn't the crispiest but the avo and spicy tuna on top are still yum. Overall, probably wouldn't come back because the service was too slow (and forgot my miso soup both rounds...sad). Food was alright tho, would consider doing a la carte for the sushi fix. read more

Baseball and sushi. Our players were so excited to go have sushi today!! As soon as we sat down they knew they wanted spicy rolls, chicken teriyaki, edamame, shrimp, etc. Our patient and kind server was awesome as we chose All You Can Eat and we went 3 rounds of hand rolls, scallops, eel, salmon, tuna, and shrimp. I'm fairly new to the sushi game. I've only been eating sushi for a couple years, but out of all the places I've been to in the Bay Area, Maui, and SoCal, this is probably my favorite. Everything was fresh and flavorful and the service was top notch. Definitely coming back. read more

First time and decided to do ayce regular lunch for $29.99 per person. I figured 2 rolls would be the equivalent of $30 so I went for the ayce in order to try a variety of things for the same price. The bill came out to about $80 for 2 people including a 20% tip and one coke. You get 80 minutes and 3 rounds. There is a premium ayce for about $38 with more choices. We got to try a variety of things from miso soup to salad, sushi, no rice rolls, and speciality rolls. They also served us something crispy with fish and sauce on top on the house so that was nice. We also requested thin lemon slices to eat with sushi (it is a game changer to add a thin slice of lemon on sushi and eat it!). We ended the meal with green tea ice cream. All in all we did enjoy our food and if I was in the area I wouldn't mind coming back. 4.4 stars! read more

Been here a few times. Ordered off the menu sometimes, did the AYCE once. Overall, the quality and the menu choices are solid. Regular soy sauce available upon request. Never had to wait for a table, only for the restaurant to open per their stated hours. Service has always been friendly. It does not appear to be a good restaurant choice for young kids, so parents should likely look elsewhere. Parking lot has plenty of spots, but many of them are tiny. read more

Came on a weeknight after 5pm. Service was excellent by the two waitresses, the chef staff behind the counter were polite and attentive. I got all you can eat for 50+tip. The place is spacious and accommodating. I can order a pretty good amount, 3 4 piece rolls, about 5 orders of sashimi style (2 pieces each order) tried all their fish, the mackerel really stood out. Did three identical rounds, not a single roll was bad. And their fish to rice ratio was amazing. Definitely a place anyone with a big appetite for good sushi should try. read more

Fish quality here is fantastic, and service here is always great. I've driven by this place so many times and am so glad that this time, I decided to go in. They have two different all you can eat menus and an Ala carte menu. Their AYCE menu is a bit more on the pricey side, but then again, most prices are beginning to be similar to that. I've always been here when it's not too busy so the service I've gotten has always been great. I usually order from their premium AYCE menu and love getting all the fresh sashimi and nigiri. I also really love their crispy rice with spicy tuna. Somehow, they managed to make the rice nice and crispy and not soggy. The restaurant is spacious and clean. The parking in this area is decent. It shares the lot with a handful of other businesses, but it's pretty easy to find parking. This place has now become my staple AYCE sushi spot. read more

My girlfriend and I were in the mood for some AYCE sushi, so we decided to check out The Sushi By Jin. Their AYCE menu is pretty big, with various rolls, appetizers, and Nigiri to choose from. Our waitress didn't do a very good job of explaining how the ordering process works, as well as the rules, so we were left with many questions. We ordered about 3 appetizers, and 6 rolls during round1. The food was just okay. I can't pinpoint one item that I thoroughly enjoyed. One bright spot is that they offer $1 Modelo bottles for AYCE customers. All in all, The Sushi By Jin is a decent option if you're in the area, and looking for a sushi spot to satisfy your cravings. If you're far out, I would not make the drive. There are many better AYCE options out there. read more

My date and I wanted AYCE sushi. The Sushi by Jin had no wait and was fairly close. Sushi was good, not great. We opted for the premium all you can eat dinner. Some of the fish had some texture on the surface, particularly the tuna which indicates that it isn't as fresh as I prefer it. We ordered conservatively for roround 1 and went a little overboard for round 2. Ended up stuffed before we had finished the 2nd order so we slowed down and finished all but 2 pieces of rolls. Service was good, well paced, and polite. When I owned up to not finishing the last couple of pieces the server told me not to worry about it as long as we left less than 5 pieces we wouldn't be charged for over orders. Price was about what I would expect for premium AYCE sushi. Ambiance was typical sushi restaurant, Japanese decor, sushi preparation bar at one end of the restaurant visible to the diners. Cannot speak to the actual location as I ordered Ubereats, but the food was nice and tasty and well portioned. I ordered three rolls and I was pleasantly surprised to see a small green salad included with the order. My only wish was that the rolls included some kind of cucumber as a crunchy element. The quality of the fish was also good, and the variety of types of rolls offered will for sure have something for everyone. The servers are attentive and the chefs are working quickly. My favorite and go to AYCE sushi spot. I've been here many times and the food is always consistent. It's in a plaza next to Intentional Coffee and I've never had issue with parking. Even on a weekend or Friday night, there's usually no wait or not a long wait. My friends and I always get the premium menu which is $38 for dinner vs the regular menu for $35. The premium menu includes the following limited items (only 1 order per person): - bluefin toro - nama ebi - salmon sashimi - yellowtail carpaccio - tuna tataki The appetizers are so good here and I'm always guilty of filling my stomach with them. My favorite items are the garlic edamame, agedashi tofu, and calamari tempura. I do feel like they started adding more rice to the sushi pieces though. We had a recent experience where the workers weren't as nice and accommodating. We came on a Wednesday night at 7:00 PM and there was only one party. They have booth seating in the back so we asked if they could push the tables together so we could sit there (we had a party of 7). The server said no because it would be harder for the sushi chef to prepare the food and bring to us? Shortly after, another party came and sat in the back with the booth seating. Whenever we come, they always seat us in the seats closest to the sushi chef. They do occasionally watch us and I think it's to ensure we're finishing everything. First time going there last week. Food there was absolutely delicious with extremely fresh tasting fish. It didn't hold the usual slightly noticeable fish taste you may get from other places. The staff members were extremely nice and friendly even if it seemed like there were low on people. The food came pretty fast and at a good pace for eating. The one thing that stands out unfortunately is the photos on the laminated menu. AYCE sushi is hit or miss in SoCal, but when we saw this place was $30 for lunch, we had to give it a try. This restaurant is located in a small shopping center next to intentional coffee. The parking lot is decently sized and there are 3 parking spots in front that are for pickup only. There are roughly 15 tables inside with no outdoor seating. When we went, the glass wall next to the front door was missing but was covered with a screen, and it seemed like a few of the tables had clutter and office supplies, likely makeshift storage. Our server was friendly and only brought us to our table after our entire party arrived because our 80 minute time limit began as soon as we sat down. I recommend checking the menu ahead of time. The menu had a good variety of options, but you can pay more to have a larger menu without limitations in orders. The food came out in a timely manner and everything was delicious. The tempura was crispy, the fish was room temp (best temperature to serve sushi) and not fishy, the rice to fish ratio was excellent. The hand roll was good as well. For the price, this place is definitely bang for your buck. We will be coming back very soon. read more

I love this place! It's our go to sushi spot in Orange County, and should be yours too. The ayce option is very reasonable for the amazing quality of the fish offered. It's a smaller restaurant that I would be happy to wait for, yet haven't had any problems getting a table at. The servers and sushi chefs are always lovely and friendly. I usually come on the weekdays and service, food and everything is up to par but this last weekend I came on a Friday with a group of 4 and we waited over an hour for seating. I initially put my name down at 7 and asked if they had an estimate of when we'd be seated, they said less than 20 minutes we didn't get seated until 830.. the restaurant closes at 9 (thankfully they closed at 10 this day). The part that really irked me was that as my friends and I were waiting for our table outside, another group of 6 roamed in, put their name down and was seated 15 minutes before us. We complained about this and the response we got from the waitress was that they were getting our table ready. That still doesn't acknowledge why we waited over an hour while another group who came far after us was seated within 20 minutes. I'm not sure how they do seating as they're understaffed and need a hostess or more waitresses. Usually only 2-3 waitresses for the whole restaurant which would be fine when they're not busy but when they are busy it really shows how understaffed they are. We got the premium option and this time the seared tuna tataki which is usually slabs of tuna with only the edges seared and pepper on the edges, came out as just slices of tuna seared and seasoning lazily thrown on. The sushi was still good but I think they need to do a better job of hiring more sushi chefs and waitresses, when they're busy the place seems very out of order. Would return again, but have also been on the hunt for a new ayce sushi spot to call home. read more

We had a party of 8 on a saturday dinner time, called couple other places we initially wanted to go to but both had at least hour plus wait so we called the sushi by jin and they were luckily able to get us right away! When getting there we had to wait until the whole party got there for them to sit us eventhough we let them know the others are just parking, so we waited with our 2 toddlers who obviously cannot just stand and wait... which was slight bummer to start, next thing i noticed, the price for adult was pretty fair but price for the 3-8 : $20. Which is slight above normal other places but their 3 and under: $5, which was a bummer since almost every place do not charge for that young.. service was slow since only 2 servers with 1 who started very recently, food was pretty good but not too many options for the appetizer for the kids who does not really eat sushi. But still had to be charged $20 and $5 and all 4 kids didnt even end up eating any sushi..at the end we had some pieces left over and the server was going to charge us for the left overs (yes they do have signs where if you have leftovers you will be charged) but as a courtesy i myself and my other party has never been charged for food that was leftover anywhere else. it wasnt a lot of food like 8-10 pieces from like almost 200 pieces of food we ordered and ate.. so we just ended up finishing pretty much the rest and did not leave as happy as we would have.. read more

My wife and I haven't had AYCE sushi in a really, *REALLY* long time. She discovered Sushi by Jin last night while attempting to find a place that was reasonably priced. Well, due to the fact that our economy is in shambles (ish), everything was around the same cost, but Sushi by Jin offers premium items (1 per person/round IIRC). The added value definitely made it worthwhile and sold us. As you can tell from the beginning of my review, all of the items we ordered were simply fire. From the sashimi, rolls, no rice rolls, appetizers, everything was great. This goes for quality as well. What's even better is that their rolls all come in 4 pieces (unless specified otherwise). This is great because a lot of AYCE sushi places like to load you up with 8 pieces. If you're seasoned AYCE eaters like my wife and I, you'll know that this is not only a one-way ticket to Flavortown, it's also a one-way ticket to a TRAP. 4 pieces really lets you explore and try a little bit of everything they have to offer! Service was great and our rounds came out in a timely manner. My only complaint is the use of disposable dinnerware like the plastic cups and plates. I'm not gonna get preachy here about it though. So the minute we sat down they graced our table with menus and beautiful appetizers that were on the house, and they were probably the tastiest things we had all night. Mixed assortment of poke on a crispy wonton with wasabi cream, tuna sashimi, and fried white fish with eel sauce. Nice tasty bites. The bluefin was good, scallops were solid. I liked the amount of rice on the nigiri. I felt like the appetizers were better than the sushi... which was kinda disappointing. LISTEN. I called yesterday, Saturday 5/4 and asked what time they close. A guy picked up and said "uuuuhhhh....8." My husband and I decided to go anyway since we've been craving SBJ- which is still one of our favorite ayce sushi restaurants. We rushed and got there before 7pm. Also, we would never show up right before they close bc that's messed up. I've called many times prior the last few months on weeknights and weekends and was told on the phone they close at "8' by either the same guy or whichever male who picks up the phone to find out on Tues-Sat they ACTUALLY CLOSE AT 9PM per the photo attached. Everytime I've called, there were always hesitation on what time they feel like telling customers they close. Not sure if this is management or employees but wtf. Completely unprofessional and losing customers/profit. If you don't want customers to visit, don't work here or close your business. It's pretty disappointing on SBJ. I think the food is still delicious but you're losing stars because this isn't the first encounter I've had with your workers telling us the wrong time and turning us away from last call 1.5 hours before you close just so you don't come. 10/10 would come back again. Almost everything we ordered we loved. Came in around 715 pm and waited only because our party wasn't all here yet. Once our last person arrived, we were immediately seated. Food service was fast. They gave us real crab on the house that was probably the best!! Round one of tofu was amazing. Round two was under fried. Definitely agree with other guests to order the special dishes!! You can definitely taste the difference in fish from here versus other AYCE places. For $40, you can beat this place. Best part is you don't feel awful after wasting way too much. read more
