    omakase
    Nina N.

i was expecting more since this was recommended by michelin guide! wasn't fully disappointed though i opted for the omakase set! the only notable fish were the uni and scallop. everything else was just okay or lacking. the seaweed was not crispy whatsoever, it was SO hard to bite through. uni pasta was really good--it's a very small dish but it's heavy so the portion size makes sense! the miso soup was too salty service was good, waiters checked in with us multiple times. really loved the decor of the place!

I was looking for a sushi dinner spot and this one hits the spot. I came here on a Saturday night and there was a small line. I ordered the Chef's Special 12 Pcs of Sashmi, Fried Soft Shell Crab, Salmon Roll, and Clam Miso Soup. Every dish was packed with unique flavors and everything was pretty fresh. Great spot and will have to be back for other items!

I love their lunch menu!! Sashimi bento is great &delicious. Chirashi bowl is large portion. Inside is small but very cozy! Free parking. All the food is so delicious! Their service was awesome so polite. I would totally come back!

They have some great tasting food items! We had the blue crab risotto and oh my goodness it was delicious. I was so sad when we finished it up. I'd also had the rainbow roll, which was pretty good but it wasn't as cold as I would have liked it to be. For dessert we ordered the yuzu sherbet. So good with authentic yuzu flavor! Plus they gave a pretty good amount for just $5. I would love to come back here and order that risotto and sherbet again.

10/7/25 - My partner and I got here shortly after they opened for the day. There is parking in the small lot in front of the restaurant but plenty more in the adjacent lot. We were the only customers at that time so we were seated immediately. The inside is cozy and the interior design incorporates a lot of Japanese culture and pop references. I ordered the Himokawa Udon lunch special ($24.99) which came with a 4 piece sushi set. They'd been promoting the flat udon noodles as part of their lunch special on social media, and as an udon lover I wanted to try it. The udon was served cold with pieces of ice on top and also came with a sweet, lemony dipping sauce. I'm glad I tried the Himokawa Udon and it did taste good, but it was not a meal that I would necessarily reorder. We also ordered a baked salmon roll ($18) which we could smell from our seats as it was being baked. The roll was served warm and was very filling. My partner ordered an unagi don ($19). The unagi was savory with the sauce and came one a bed of rice with slices of avocado. As we dined the restaurant did start to fill up quickly, so get there earlier if you want quicker and more attentive service. I do want to come back to try out their $50 omakase weeknight dinner special.

Came back for more! Always packed, but service was good and food was amazing. We came on Saturday night, wanted the $50 Omakase but it was not available on weekends! Will be back on a weekday for that. Fresh sushi and sashimi. Other dishes like beef tongue or crispy rice were also delicious. I honestly wanted to order the whole menu lol.

I ordered the Kaori plate, and it was very good. The variety of fish that was given was great. I love salmon, and it was very buttery. The tempura and everything else were also very wonderful. The inside is very aesthetic, with traditional Japanese decoration throughout the restaurant. As for service they are very on top of it and very welcoming whenever you need something. Will definitely come back here to eat again.

Kaori Sushi is a solid choice if you're looking for affordable omakase during the week. I came on a weekday evening and didn't need a reservation, which was a nice surprise. The food came out quickly, everything was fresh, and there was a good variety throughout the meal. $50 for a 5 course omakase - the price and convenience is unbeatable, it's definitely worth checking out. With super cute decor too!

I have been coming to this place over the years but it has become a weekly visit for my boyfriend and I! We love this place almost as much as we love sushi. Inside feels so cozy and the decorations are so cute, the staff is always kind and everything always comes out fast. Sometimes service is slower when it's busy but that's to be expected. I can confidently say I have never had anything bad here. The quality of the fish here is unmatched. For the price the portions you get are amazing and I genuinely feel as this place is always worth it. My boyfriend loves getting the dinner bento boxes that come at a great price! I love everything here especially the chefs mix sushi & sashimi! I love this place so much and we always look forward to our weekly sushi dates here!!

I came to Kaori after seeing that they had the thick udon on social media! My partner and I came during lunch and they had a thick cold udon + 4 piece sushi deal while my partner got the Kaori bento box! Service was slow since it seems like there was only one server serving customers food! Ambiance was average due to chatter! Cold Udon: Super chewy and thick! Nice dipping sauce to dip noodles into! Bento Box: Based on my partner, he liked the portion sizing of the sushi! TIP: Parking in this plaza is ample and they have a restroom as well! This restaurant closes around 2 PM and they opens at 5 PM, so keep that in mind!

Will be back for their lunch specials WOWWW the sashimi is the most buttery I've ever had, would almost go to say it's too buttery...(almost haha I love a fatty fish). Splurged on the premium chirashi and it was definitely worth it, thought there was only sashimi on top only to find layers of spicy tuna, crabmeat, and seaweed salad underneath! Service was also great despite there only being one waitress- she was very attentive and quick with everything!

Omg this restaurant exceeded my expectations! The blue crab risotto was sooo freakin good. Perfect balance of flavors with the cheese and crab. I would for sure get that again. The n-ta roll was also another favorite. Really rich unique flavors with shiso and a creamy sauce (mayo based maybe?). The red snapper and black cod were really good quality. Black cod melted in my mouth! Very excited to come back! Hopefully I can come for a weekday lunch to get their omakase or chirashi for a cheaper price.

Fifteen courses that are surprises because even tho there's a "template" of types of dishes, each one is ultimately the chef's choice. As each course was brought out, our waiter did an excellent job of describing what each item was and it's place of origin. Fifteen courses is alot to try to remember each specific dish so I decided to stay in the moment (after I snapped a pic) and enjoyed each one as we had them and talked about the flavor profiles and what we liked best about it. When my son had made the reservation he must have told them we were celebrating my birthday because in addition to the regular dessert course, our server brought me a birthday dessert which included green tea ice cream and a slice of matcha cheesecake. The full omakase experience was delicious and so fun! I told my son that it was like an advent calendar ~ each course we "opened" had us saying "ooo, how yummy" and left us with almost giddy anticipation of what we'd discover next. If you're looking for something fun and unique for a special occasion, I highly recommend the full omakase experience at Akashiro!

So we found this place and it was in the same vicinity and yay, they took reservations. Made reservations same day for a 18:30 seating. Service is impeccable. We were welcomed with hot towels, and this impressed me: when our server asked if we wanted cold or hot water. Love it! We opted for hot, better for digestion :) Our libation: Kubota sake - semi dry, rich, clean Our dishes: Assorted sashimi (16 pcs) - omakase. No soy sauce needed. Chef prepared with delicious flavors in mind. Tiger scallops - served in a what appears to resemble petrified wood, carved into a long boatlike dish. Hokkaido shrimp, cilantro oil, chilaquita (Peruvian onion relish), sweet potato crisp, smoke aji Amarillo (Peruvian yellow chili) Leche de tigre (rich emulsion of limes, Peruvian spices and chilis) - A complexity of flavors that comes together so completely. Eat with spoon. The delicate potato crisp finishes the bite with a little crunch. Udon picante - bell peppers, quinoa and 2 jumbo shrimp. Love the heat level. Comfort food at its best. Salmon parmesan - Nikkei sushi - seared salmon, parmesan bitter, eel sauce , arare, lime. Amazing. O toro sushi - the fattiest cut of tuna. Eat as is. Again chef prepared. No added seasoning required. Parri maki - fried shrimp, cream cheese, seared tuna topped with chimichurri, aji amarillo, chalaquita, ponzu. Food experience was enhanced by their impeccable taste in music. Super chill, soft beats stream the restaurant. With its perfect lighting too sets all the good moods for us. Don't wait for this fine dining experience of Japanese and Peruvian fusion. Note: when they ask if you want soy sauce, say No, thank you. It would be a shame to kill the taste of a beautiful dish with any added sauce. Kampai! Salud!

DECENT FOOD, TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT…read more I've been here twice, and I can honestly say I think the food is decent, but the manager needs additional training or something. Let me tell y'all what happened, and why I will not go back, ever. Service: 0/5 I ordered food to-go for my staff members birthday; I waited about 40 mins. Like others have said, they're very short staffed here, and maybe that's problem #1. After some time went by, I think they realized I was sitting for a very long time for a small to-go order, so they rushed & possibly didn't secure my bag of food. I ordered a spicy YAKIUDON noodle meal, spicy edamame, and a fried "San Diego". When the young man gave it to me, I asked him if it was secure because it feels heavy and I'm taking it to my staff member and wanted it to be ready for him to eat. He said everything was there, it was packaged well, and sorry for the wait. WELL- LONG STORY SHORT IT WASN'T. lol. I immediately called after I got to my staff members job (15 mins away) and nothing was secure. It leaked so badly EVERYWHERE! My car, my clothes, the food was soggy- it was a literal disaster. After calling- the man apologized profusely and said he will replace EVERYTHING and to come back any time. My staff member and I were out of lunch and it was honestly embarrassing because it was their birthday. I wasted time, spent 2x the money, and I had an extremely dirty car. I took pics, threw the food away, and went back a few days later. When I got there- the cook/ possibly owner was MAD as heck when the guy told him I was there to recollect my order. After shouting and shaking his head- I saw him cooking. When my bag came- it was awfully light and a very tiny box. I asked the server if that was everything and he was so embarrassed and kept saying he was sorry that the owners said "no." They will not replace it after all. They gave me a literal small side of noodles and that's it. The meal I originally bought came with rice, a salad, a dumpling etc. I also didn't get the edamame, or the fried San Diego! All around- I felt bad for the young man who was so embarrassed and ultimately put in the middle. He said it was wrong what they're doing but ultimately this place was going back on what they should do to make it right. I didn't make a scene or argue, I opted to never come back. I think things like this show the character of an establishment and it is what it is.

I'm not sure what it is about this place, but the mayo ratio in the food is just too high. I lose my appetite long before getting full from a strange aftertaste in any of the items that use mayo. The service speed varies on how busy they are as well as how big your party is, so if you're coming in with 6 big eaters, at peak dining hours, expect the food to trickle in little by little at a rate that will likely sneak up on you. It's easy to accidentally over order here because of this. My issue was the gagging sensation I'd get when eating anything with mayo in it. Maybe it's the brand or mix ratio. It's hard to say. Maybe if this place is here in 4 years again, I may drop by to give it another chance.

First, the BOGO deal is awesome. There are happy hour deals, but we rarely get there in time to take advantage. It's just a bit of a drive for us to get there early enough. Second, the Chefs!!! Go to any sushi joint you want... you've got ONE chef slinging fish, totally backed up, trying his best to keep pace, and all the while losing attention to detail and presentation. CRnS always has 3 sometimes 4 Chef's behind the line. The result is faster service.... Of course.... But presentations that are almost too pretty to eat... but, it's sushi, so we eat them anyway. And third, the servers.... They are pretty consistent....There are not new servers every other week like some lesser joints. You get familiar with them and they get familiar you. Which leads me to James! James is awesome, polite, helpful, attentive, and just does a great job. I could never do it.... I'd be like "Bruh, I was just here 2 minutes ago, why didn't you ask more Wasabi and Ginger then?" Not James, always glad to bring us more Wasabi and Ginger.... We arrived at approximately 9:10pm and were told that they would close at 10:00. We ordered in under 5 minutes. Food came out promptly. We were ready to respectfully be out by 10:00pm. But instead the servers kept coming to clear plates and take our napkins. It was approximately 9:40 and 3/4 members of our party were done. The server came again started further removing dishes and even placed a dish on top of something that was still being eaten even while we told them that we were not done yet. We would've have been out by 9:50 if they let us finish eating in peace. Instead we paid a good amount of money to eat rushed and excessively interrupted just to get us out 5 minutes sooner. Bad service. We were out by 9:46 and walked out disappointed.
