Came in for dinner around 8:20; they close at 9 and we were told last call was in a few minutes. We placed our orders right away; I ordered the ox tail soup. Side dishes came out a few minutes after ordering - fish cake, kim chi, radishes, bean sprouts, and tofu. Our food came out very quickly as well, a few minutes after the side dishes. We were asked to pay the check when the food came, since they were closing in half an hour. We ended up speed-eating our food and finished in about 15-20 minutes; they started cleaning up all the tables so we felt quite rushed. The meal itself was a smaller portion. Some meat and a small handful of noodles. Not sure if it's always that small, or if it was because we came before closing. We made it out right before closing time, and there were still other customers sitting when we left. Overall, food was decent and service was quick. Maybe just allot an hour or so before closing to visit! read more

I had a very disappointing experience here today. I came in to pick up a takeout order, and everything seemed fine at first. I checked my food, paid, and signed the receipt. Since this was a takeout order, I did not leave a tip, which should not affect the level of basic customer service. However, after noticing that I did not add a tip, the staff member's attitude visibly changed. When handing me the food, they placed it down abruptly without saying a word and walked away with an obvious negative expression. The difference in behavior before and after seeing the receipt was very noticeable and unprofessional. Tipping for takeout is optional, not mandatory. Customers should not be treated poorly or made to feel uncomfortable simply because they chose not to tip on a takeout order. Professionalism and basic courtesy should be consistent regardless of tipping. This experience left a very bad impression, and I hope management takes this seriously and addresses how customers are treated. read more

Tang is an OG Korean soup spot with a no-frills 90's vibe, and by 90's I mean the decor and food hasn't changed much since then! Tang is known for their spicy pork soup and soondae soup offerings. Note: you can order the pork soup without the offal aka funk parts so it's just sliced pork belly. Heavy on the flavor and seasonings here and to be honest, a little heavy on the pork funk as well. Nothing a little soju won't solve! They also have a weekday special on soju bottles (buy 2 get one) for the not so faint of heart. Tang is reliable and relatively unchanged, so jump in your 90's Hyundai Excel Time Machine and head on over here for some authentic and tasty Korean eats.. read more

My family loves this place! Came to get a soondaeguk and was surprised by the amount of banchan and even more sirprised at the taste of the kkakduki!! That thing was so good! I ordered the spicy soondaeguk and the portions were more than rnough to fill me up. Wasn't too spicy, and I really enjoyed it. I was craving something soupy so we ordered lunch here for takeout. I ordered the galbitang (beef short rib soup) which comes with glass noodle. The beef ribs were decent, though kind of wish they were easy melt off the bone. Flavor was decent, broth was pretty good. My hubby ordered the yukgae jang (spicy beef broth soup) which comes with glass noodle. The broth was flavorful, and there were plenty of veggies. My hubby liked that it wasn't too salty like other places. Overall, prices are decent. I was pleased to see that everything was packaged and boxed nicely, so you won't need to worry about soup "spilling." I only wish they had more variety of side dishes/ban chan besides just the daikon and kimchi. They accept credit cards and there's plenty of parking read more

We found this restaurant on Yelp since we are in the area for a weekend away from San Diego. Rather than driving all the way to LA for good Korean food, we opted to find one around Orange County. Wanted to try new Korean dish that I haven't tried yet. I had three items I wanted to try but opted to go for the mini size bossam. Just heads up, there a little bit of a wait if you order the bossam. I was not sire if it was 15 minutes or 50 minutes. Since it was my first time trying this, it tasted great to me. Hubby ordered the hot pot bulgogi, which I thought tasted good but hubby didn't like it. We also ordered korean dumplings which we both liked. The "Unnie" barely speaks english but we really didnt mind. There is a drawer under the table where you can find the chopsticks, napkins & spoons. There are three different seasonings on the table (grounded sesame seeds, tiny shrimps & i can't remember the last one). They also provide you with a jug of cold barley tea upon sitting. Though i am not sure if this is free or not. It is very casual inside and can get a little loud when there are a lot of customers. To me it feels like this is an establishment that is frequented by korean transplants. I highly recommend this place. read more

You come here for Korean comfort food, metal dishes of banchan, enormous bowls of soup and stone pots hot enough to continue cooking your dinner while you eat it. And that stone pot is where I'd start. The gondre dolsot bibimbap was fantastic. Gondre is Korean thistle and here it gets worked through the rice with the egg, seaweed and everything else until the whole thing becomes earthy, savory and deeply satisfying. But the best part comes underneath. Leave it alone long enough and the rice against the stone develops that beautiful scorched crust, nurungji, which you eventually scrape loose and mix back through everything. That combination of the greens, sesame, egg and crispy rice is ridiculously good. There are dishes you finish because you're hungry and dishes where you keep digging around the bottom of the bowl because you're convinced there must be another good piece hiding somewhere. This was the latter. The galbitang was more complicated for me. The beef itself was excellent. Generous pieces, tender, falling easily from the bone and soft enough that our kids loved it. Plenty of green onion, too. My issue was the broth. I prefer galbitang on the restrained side so I can decide where it goes from there. Same reason I like seolleongtang arriving almost defiantly plain, give me the broth and let me dress it up myself with salt, saeujeot or whatever else I want. Han Yang has already made those decisions for you. The galbitang broth was noticeably sweet and salty and eventually it became a little much for me. That's preference as much as criticism, plenty of people will probably love it exactly as it arrives. I just wanted the volume turned down. The banchan was similarly mixed but mostly good. The napa kimchi was solid and nicely balanced. The kkakdugi was particularly good. The mustard greens, however, were ferociously sour. I like fermented food. These had me physically wincing. The dipping sauce for the galbi was excellent, though and I kept going back to it. Rice was average and a little dry. It did its job. Service was good and the whole experience was easy. The room itself has some age on it, tables are fairly close together and depending on where you're seated you may find yourself with a commanding view of the bathroom door. Nobody has ever requested the chef's table at the restroom, but here we are. Somehow I don't particularly mind any of it. Han Yang feels like a restaurant that knows what it is. It isn't polished into anonymity. People are here eating giant bowls of soup, mixing rice in scorching stone pots and getting on with their lives. And when a restaurant can put something as good as that gondre bibimbap in front of me, I can forgive a dry bowl of rice and a bathroom with excellent sightlines. Absolutely coming back. And next time, I'm getting that bibimbap again.

Slaw was good, street corn was good, but that meat was perfection. I just wished $65 shared dish would at least make one of us full , but hey, quality was there so I'm still leaving a happy customer.

The bathrooms were also extremely dirty, with a sign mentioning plumbing issues. Plumbing problems don't excuse poor cleanliness. I understand that equipment issues happen, but this felt like a situation where the restaurant chose to keep operating rather than prioritize the comfort and cleanliness of its guests. Nothing too special, but it has that familiar late-night Korean spot feel. The service was a bright spot though. The server was very friendly both times, which I appreciated. For me, the main issue is the food. I've been here twice, and I honestly can't think of anything I tried that I would call really good. The second time, I came after playing tennis with friends, and we ordered fried oysters, garlic chicken wings, and golbaengi muchim. I didn't touch the fried oysters because before we even ordered, someone mentioned that the oysters here can sometimes taste too fishy. I'm not a huge oyster person to begin with, so that was enough for me to pass. The garlic chicken wings were also just okay. The chicken itself was pretty basic, but the garlic sauce didn't really blend well with it. It felt like I was eating chicken and garlic separately, rather than one balanced dish. The golbaengi muchim was probably the most unusual one for me. They add dried pollack inside, which I normally like, but it didn't work well in this dish. Every time I bit into the dried pollack, it felt more like chewing paper than eating something that belonged with the spicy sea snail salad. I can see why some Korean friends might come here for nostalgia or because it's one of the few late-night Korean bar options in the area, but personally, the food just hasn't worked for me. The service was friendly, and the place itself was fine for a casual Korean bar, but the food didn't stand out on either visit. The price also felt pretty high for what we got. On my second visit, three dishes and a few sodas came out to around $120, which made it harder for me to understand why people specifically choose this spot.

Customer service is lacking, but there's a button you can press if you need anything. It's not the kind of place where they'll come and ask if you need anything. Food prices are on the higher end, but there's a good variety of korean comfort food from fried chicken, kimchi chicken, and bossam. Give them a try!
