Usually, I always assume that the quality of phở restaurant directly depends on how far you are from Westminster/Garden Grove/ Fountain Valley area. The further you are from the epicenter, the lower your expectation should be. This appears to hold true for this establishment in Anaheim. There were still signs and decor from the previous business, which looks to be some sort of churros place. Other than that, the place is relatively clean, aside from a fee flies buzzing around. I would recommend the owner keeps the door close to keep those critters out. As for the food, the menu is fairly straightforward with some appetizer section, some phở selection, some bún (vermicelli) selection, and some rice dishes. I opted for the House Special phở and an iced tea. The bowl of phở was ok in temperature, although I prefer it to be hotter. The sliced rare beef was a little thick and actually was buried in the bowl and was well done. The broth was clear, however, was lacking that phở flavor, and salty for my taste. The brisket was a little chewy, and fhe phở noodles were definitely from the dried version and not the fresh version and was all clumped together. What was most shocking of all was the price. It looks like every little items are counted extras. The house special phở is $16. Apparently the blanched sprouts (giá chần) and vinegar onions (hành dấm) are extras. Add an iced tea and the total bill was around $22.50. To me, that is quite pricey... Overall verdict: if you're in west anaheim and in a hurry, but still crave for some phở, then perhaps this place can be that quick fix. Although, don't expect to be impressed. For me, I think I will take the extra 15 minutes drive to Bolsa area and go to one of the phở places there. It's worth the trip... read more

It isn't that big inside so it's a cozy spot to eat a laidback meal in, which we hope to do shortly. The food is really delicious! I'm vegetarian and they had ample offerings. I liked the tempura tofu and the vegan broth in the pho was very flavorful and aromatic. Next time I want to try the garlic noodles, I think those would be especially yummy with tofu! I think since they just opened they've been extra generous so we got a complimentary Thai tea which was good and the most adorable jar of chili oil (which I put into my pho to make it even yummier!). Definitely come here! One of the better Pho spots I've been to in a while. I love it when the broth is good enough as it is, you don't have to add anything to the broth to try to make it better. That is the case with District 9, just need the regular basil, lime, beansprout garnish (jalapeno if you like spicy). The meat and the tendon also good quality and very soft. Their spring roll is super fresh and filling and I like their peanut sauce that goes with it as well. Oh and their housemade chili oil? Also one of the better ones I've had at a pho restaurant, good consistency and has a lot of flavor instead of it just being chili and oil. I bought a bottle so I can eat that with other food at home. Located in an unassuming shopping center, the exterior already stood out, and once inside, the space felt modern, warm, and welcoming. It truly feels more upscale than a typical pho restaurant. The service was excellent from the start. However, the food was meh, considering how much it cost. Bread was tough, maybe a day old. The lemongrass pork was salty and I couldn't taste any lemongrass. There's no pate, instead lots of mayo.
