Pho Suon Bo (Short Rib with Bone)
    Christine R.

I came here with my parents on a Tuesday around noon. The space was small, so there was a brief wait. Still, it didn't feel crowded or noisy at all, just comfortable. In a way, I would say that the food is comfortable, too. I thought that the flavors were a bit mild, but the portions made up for it. I got lots and lots of chicken in my pho ga. My mom got ASMR-worthy crispy egg rolls in her bun cha gio. My dad got not one, not two, but THREE short ribs with bones in his pho suon bo!!! My only regret is not getting a drink. The blenders were singing a siren song, and I noticed four different smoothies on the menu.

This place is a Korean own pho spot and this did not disappoint. The service was super fast and amazing. The pho was decently priced and the ambiance is fast paced. Everything we ordered hit the spot. I give it a solid 5/5. Not much to say but you have to try it.

After Disneyland we found this place located in a plaza with plenty of parking. Upon arrival we did have to put our names down and waited outside. Since this place does get busy. Small little restaurant, but the food was authentic. The outside doesn't have the greatest smell due to sewers water, but food came out fast and the staff were very attentive. The pho broth was seasoned just right, and they had variety of noodles for the pho thin or thick. The only con I did order the short ribs pho just to try, usually I never order this but first for everything. The meat did not feel tender, so I just mainly ate the broth and noodles. The Vietnamese coffee was on point though and spring rolls!

Came here at around 1pm on a Tuesday. We were seated and served right away even though there were hardly any empty tables. Was super excited bc I hardly get to go out for lunch. The broth was good. I got the rib pho which I must admit was huge but there was a lot of tendon and fat to pick through. I should've just got what my husband got which was a regular pho. Service was ok. Ambiance is in and out.

The servers here are all so welcoming and friendly. Pho broth was flavorful. Meat was tender everything was good. The small size was plenty for me. Definitely a well rounded pho joint in OC.

My usual pho spot was closed so I cruised here for lunch. Three things I look for that tell me a pho place is good: a busy restaurant, a line outside, and people eating by themselves. This place had all 3, including families and non-Asian people eating as well. I was greeted from the moment I came in. The staff were friendly and most importantly confident in their food. I said it was good, MF said it was great hahaha. I like a little spunk. Probably the best beef broth in OC. Plenty of meat given. You also get a choice of fat or skinny noodles (Northern or Southern style). Really close to the Pho 79 standard that Vietnamese people know. If you're in the area, and not looking to drive all the way to Westminster for a bowl of pho, this is the spot. In the words of the great Alysa Liu: THAT'S WHAT I'M FCKIN TALKING ABOUT!!!

Came here on a Saturday night. We got seated right away. My husband ordered a large pho ($1 more from the small). He got a #1 (combination w/everything - tripe, tendon, brisket, rare steak and well-done flank). The broth was very tasty and not super oily like some other places. I got the #41 (grilled pork and egg rolls) vermicelli dish. The grilled pork was tender and had a lot of flavor After we placed our order it came out lightning fast! The soups were all very hot and loaded with meat!! Overall, service was great, price is reasonable and pho is delicious. We probably will be returning in the future.

Was in the area so decided to stop by Pho 45 after hearing from people that it's one of the best in OC. Upon arriving, wait staff were extremely friendly and greeted people at the door. Orders were taken quickly and water/drinks plus condiments were out seconds after. Food came out pretty quickly as most pho shops do. The pho broth tastes clean, beefy, a hint of sweetness, not overly salty. In my opinion this is the perfect everyday broth. Most places in OC have either a dark herb heavy broth or a light sweet broth. The previous reviews are not kidding when it comes to the portions, definitely generous and good quality. Didn't seem that busy when I went, possibly because it was close to opening time, perhaps busier on weekends. Would definitely visit again! Friendly people and amazing food.

Hole in the wall! Hidden in a plaza by a well-known Ondal Korean restaurant, this place offers a super affordable and delicious bowl of pho. Service is quick too! For their No. 1 special with LARGE pieces of tendon and lots of meats, it's only $14.50. What's crazier is that their LARGE size is only $1 more so cheap! Soup is not heavy and LOTS of stuff on it that you can even see the noodle

I am sorry I have doubted you my glorious king Pho 45. No matter what I come here at least once a week, order the same number 6 large, skinny noodles, with steamed bean sprouts, and sliced onions. With a glass of iced jasmine tea, the hangover that haunted me has now perished. This pho restaurant is very close and dear to my heart. The service is impeccable and they provide everything I need at the perfect time. The LeBron of pho

Pretty good pho place in OC! There's a bit of a wait, but it moves quick. They take your order quickly and serve everything quickly too. It's a very fast paced service restaurant which is a win for me! The soup is savory without being heavy or oily. There's SO MUCH meat like wayyyy more meat than other places and they give a lot of noodle too! A small size (which, is by no means small) is $13.99 and the large is $14.99 per bowl. The large will give more meat too, not just extra noodle or soup. VERY worth but also a VERY big portion. Also, you can pick your choice of small or big noodles. What was new for me was the 2 FREE items on the menu! Han Dam (pickled onions) and Hanh Tran Nuoc Beo (oil, most likely from the pho broth) really added to the experience. I added the onions and the oil into my bowl of soup and I think it upped the flavor profile for me. The veggies were fresh and they refilled hot tea for us too! The beef balls are also good and bouncy. The only disappointment was the egg rolls. Very small, not worth at all. The filling wasn't good either. It didn't match up to the quality of the pho at all so we were like ahh... this is what we get for ordering this. They're not known for it so just stay clear! Big parking lot, line moves quick (if there is one), and pay at the cashier (they won't give at table).

We got the large Pho 45, and it was a great portion for sharing. The broth was really flavorful and delicious without being too heavy. They give a generous amount of meat, it honestly felt like there was more meat than noodles, which we loved. The prices were reasonable and affordable. Service was quick, and while the inside is on the smaller side, there are still a decent amount of tables. Definitely a solid spot for pho!

Pho 45 has a delicious bowl of pho. Came in for lunch on a Monday and the place was pretty packed. The service was amazing, very quick and friendly. I got the combination pho and some egg rolls. Sorry yelpers but I forgot to take pictures of the menu.

Do they use fresh pho noodles (not the refrigerated ones)?

    Msg in pho?

For everyone needlessly asking this of Asian restaurant: a little bit of a wake-up call for you https://msgdish.com/glutamate-foods-naturally-contain-msg/

Does any one know when they are going to reopen?

It says they're expected to open August 4th!

Is this a cash only place?

They take Mastercard Visa diner's club and Discover

    Are you open?

Yes, they open for dine-in. Seating is limited as they space out every other table.

Anybody knows when this restaurant is going to re-open for business? My husband & I kept calling both locations, La Mirada & Garden Grove but no one answers. We drove to La Mirada and saw a sign posted on the window that the will re-open on 4/19/20.

Me too. I kept calling them but no sign of operation. I have a same question and would be appreciated if anyone knows.

    Is this place cash only?

Nope. They take credit cards too

I am allergic with seafood, so I wonder do they use fish sauce in the broth? Thank you.

I can't imagine them NOT using fish sauce as that is one of the key ingredients in making pho.

    Do they offer grift cards?

    Yes, with $10 minimum

Does the vegetable pho (pho rau cai) use vegetable broth or beef/chicken broth?

I'm not sure about that but you can request them to make it vegan! I did.

Does this restaurant use msg in their pho beef broth?

You know a bag of potato chips has a ton of msg. Possibly the same amount if you drank all your broth. This myth that msg gives you headaches derives from racism in America against Chinese immigrants who had restaurants. Nothing against you eating…

The beef was soft and tender, the fries were nice and crispy and the fried rice was fresh. You 100% need to get the Thai Tea. A lot of place add too much cream/half and half diluting the tea flavor, they do not skimp on the actual tea in their drink. The color speaks for itself on the dark orange hue!

I'm a bit late getting around to writing this, and unfortunately, they are already closed, but I still felt like I had to share my experience. I'm not completely surprised that they closed, especially after trying their bò né. I've had this dish many times at different places around Orange County, and unfortunately, this was probably the weakest version I've come across. The first thing that stood out was the presentation. As you can see in the picture, there was this purple-colored sauce on the meat itself, which honestly did not look very appetizing. To make things worse, the sauce was cold and did not heat in time with the skillet, which really took away from the experience. The flavor itself wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't anything memorable. It was just okay, and when you factor in the cold food and the presentation, it made the whole dish disappointing. With so many places around Orange County serving bò né at a much higher level, I would probably recommend spending your money elsewhere. If you were wondering whether you missed out on some hidden gem, don't worry, you didn't. This one felt more like a piece of coal than a diamond. That being said, every restaurant has its journey, and with more time, maybe they could have found their footing. Hopefully, they can take this experience as a lesson, refine their recipes, and bring something better in their next venture. I am rooting for you Loi!
