Dry style thin egg noodle with BBQ pork with wonton
    Amanda V.

TLDR = spot to hit up for egg noodle craving at any time - and can grab some bao to go Exterior = 5/5 Located in the T&K plaza, there is lots of parking. I will say you may not park directly in front but you will find parking. The plaza has a bunch of eateries in it so you can grab dessert or coffee after. Interior = 5/5 When you enter, you have the to go bao station on the right and the eating tables on the left. It is nicely lit and there is a good amount of space between tables. Service = 5/5 They move quick here. As soon as we sat we had a few minutes then they were ready to take our order. The place can get super busy so I see why. They are quick with churning out the food as well. Order = 5/5 I got the BBQ pork and wonton with thin egg noodle and dry style. Dry style means they put some soup on the side and put the sauces and noodles in the bowl. I don't know if that means you get different sauces than the soup style, might have the check that next time. I liked how I could control the amount of soup I had so this worked for me. The bowl was beautiful with the slices of meat, crispy pork rinds, lettuce, fried shallots, and egg noodles. The noodles had a nice chew and definitely hit that noodle craving I was having. I would pour in soup as I go (the soup was nice and light but flavorful). They have chili oil and pickled jalapenos to add. Careful with the jalapenos, I got hit with a super spicy one. Also ordered the iced herbal tea (Nước mát) on the menu. It was not to sweet, the pandan flavor was pronounced, and it went well with the food. I found it refreshing and a must get. When I left I grabbed the special steamed bao with the salted egg and a couple custard. Both made great breakfast for the next day and I plan to grab more when I go back. They also end your meal with a little dessert jelly (loved that service). Overall = 5/5 Nice spot that each time I was able to grab seating pretty quickly and we had 4+ size parties. The noodles were delicious. The drink paired nicely. The baos I got to go were great. Tip = get the baos to go and get the drink.

Was craving duck noodles and chicken wings after our morning coffee. Came to this spot and was seated immediately. The inside is expansive and has plenty of seating. The food was ok but to me, didn't leave that much of an impression.

This is genuinely one of my favorite late night spots. The service is always great and friendly and the restaurant itself is pretty spacious and clean. Not pictured, but my go-to is the wonton soup when I want something light and comforting. The flavors here are great - you can't go wrong with anything you choose!

What an absolute diamond in the ruff. A true hole in the wall. We came here after a late weekday night event and the place was still popping! Service was great and food was outstanding. Not gonna lie the place could be a little cleaner, but it was good enough and the food more than made one forget any shortcomings this place has. We got the wontons which were ok but not great. We also got the roasted duck over dry noodles and combo rice noodle soup. Both were fantastic! That duck definitely hit different!! Would definitely come back!

highlights: - parking spots small and cramped, ppl may ding doors - very spacious inside, never have to wait long - open late until 2am - Chinese style viet food - mi hoanh thanh xa xiu kho was ok, 4/5 - free che at the end

A simple night turned special with just a bowl of noodles This noodle spot isn't fancy, but it has a warm, cozy vibe that makes you feel comfortable right away. The moment you walk in, the light aroma of the broth instantly makes you hungry. The noodles came out piping hot--perfectly chewy, not too soft. The broth was rich and flavorful but not overwhelming, with a natural sweetness that tastes like it's been slow-cooked for hours. The toppings were generous, fresh, and well-seasoned. What I loved most is the balance--nothing too greasy, nothing too bland. Everything just comes together perfectly. It's the kind of meal that leaves you satisfied but still wanting to come back for more. Friendly staff and quick service made the whole experience even better, like visiting a go-to neighborhood spot. If you're looking for a simple yet high-quality bowl of noodles, this place is definitely worth a try.

Friendly and quick and very patient with new people. First time here and our waitress was great and she let us take our time ordering. It was relaxing here and the food was excellent.

Their Hu tieu menu is top tier! Try the hu tieu with the duck, it's pretty bomb! The space gives off a real Vietnamese nature vibe -- super chill and cozy. The bánh bao here is honestly next-level: soft, hot, and perfectly fragrant. I ordered the crab tapioca soup, and the flavor was rich and addictive. Their bánh bao is made fresh daily with salted egg yolk, Chinese sausage, and pork -- so good you'll want to get another one. Overall, the food here is fire, everything tastes amazing, and it's definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Open late til 2am and you'll get your food within 5 mins of ordering during lunch rush hour! Flavorful and filling portions at a good price. Located in the T&K mall where parking is notoriously difficult to find. I tried their wonton noodles and duck noodle, and was a fan of the soup. I also tried the crispy seafood noodle it wasn't what I was looking for. Being a huge spice addict, I appreciated the chili oil and pickled jalapenos at the table side to spice up the dishes. Would I come back? Definitely.

Sometimes I have a craving for duck braised in Chinese Herbs Noodles soup. This one is a special duck leg marinated in like Chinese Medicine Herbs, with the darker soup and darker skin. The best place would have a very tender duck leg, not hard and the meat you can taste with the special chinese herbs and the soup and noodles are different from all other soup. Last time I was in OC, my friend introduced me this place and it's the best one I've tasted so far. It was so good that I came twice. My sister like the bbq duck noodles soup which is good too. Since I'm always hungry, I have to ask for the extra noodles for $2. The prices and the services are great, very inexpensive and the service is attentive and quick. My wife also love this duck soup, I'll bring her here next time when we go together.

Food is flavorful, fresh, and authentic. Fast customer service. Busy restaurant but quick in and out customers so the turn over time is quick. Open late so restaurant can get loud but not bad. Spacious and clean. Will be back for sire.

The noodle bowls were good. The noodles flavored well with sauce and perfectly cooked. The herbal broth for the duck was great. Enjoyed the pickled papaya it came with. The veggie and tofu was filling. The chicken bun was good - lots of filling and we enjoyed the custard bun for dessert.

Whenever I'm in Garden Grove, Korean and Vietnamese cuisine will always take precedence. However,…read moremy most recent trip pivoted from the norm, and Noodle Star became the destination. The end result? Reasonable prices, warm service, and very tasty food. Like so many Chinese restaurants, the name and theme is inherently confusing. Up until last year, the place was Harbor Garden and it's rebranded to Noodle Star ever since. The Chinese name ("川粵" aka "Chuan Yue") would imply there is a Sichuan + Cantonese component to the offerings, despite the words "teppanyaki" and handmade noodles (手工麵) noted on the exterior as well as on signs on the interior. Typically any restaurant that dabbles in multiple regional Chinese variations (Sichuan, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Lanzhou, etc.) is a huge flight risk. Surprisingly, it all worked out. All of my orders were from different regions of the country, starting with a Cantonese beef chow fun (乾炒牛河) that was delightfully smokey from the wok hei (#1) and the noodles and beef were silky and smooth. While the noodles aren't as wide as I would have liked, they were still 100% workable in the dish. The Taiwanese style popcorn chicken (鹽酥雞) was wonderfully fried and the chicken was still juicy on the inside. Their napa cabbage + shrimp + pork steamed dumplings (白菜豬肉蝦水餃) were pillowy soft and steamed perfectly. They were plump and not too doughy; which is very appropo for a northern Chinese dish. The biggest surprise may have come from the soup dumplings (小籠包), which had just the right amount of soup and a very delicate dumpling skin that was downright excellent. The service was kind, attentive, and very bilingual with Mandarin and English. Prices might feel high to non-Cali folks, but the spectrum is very much on the Socal average. (#2). Bathrooms were mostly clean and the seating options were plentiful; solid for large and small group action. Parking can be tough on the weekends since it's a strip mall. I already know that I'll be back. If I was able to order 4 regions and they all came out excellent (#3), I can only imagine how excellent the rest of the house special group of dishes will be. __________ (#1) "Essence of the wok" -- it's a thing. This helped us get a table much faster than we would have than if we had just shown up and waited. We ordered the large family meal, and there were 12 of us. We also ordered the Newport Lobster, fish fillet with black bean sauce, and an extra shrimp fried rice. Overall, I think the food was good, and the prices are reasonable (except the lobster, which was pricey, as you might expect from anything listed as "market price"). Most of us in the group thought the fish fillet with black bean sauce was the best. I thought it was very good, but not necessarily fantastic. (There are other Chinese restaurants that do it a little better.) The sauce was very good, but the fish wasn't quite as tender as it can be. Definitely a solid 4 stars. Other dishes were good. I think the scallop soup could have been great for some people, but my wife and I both hate cilantro, and there was a ton of cilantro. The pork was also good, and my friends thought the clams were also really good. I found the fried rice a bit bland. And for both the lobster and the crab, they could have made them a little easier to eat by cracking the shells a bit more for us. I hate fighting with my food ... And there was a fair amount of fighting on these 2 dishes. The lobster cost almost much as all the other dishes combined. It certainly looked amazing. And the sauce was very good. But I found most of it a bit overcooked. Maybe it was our fault for asking for a big one. Maybe a smaller lobster might have been cooked a little less. The great sauce (along with the fighting with the shell) might have covered up the fact that the meat was actually a bit tough and rubbery. I don't think I'd order this again. The service was very friendly and pretty fast. And, again, other than the lobster, the pieces were pretty reasonable.

Our servers were attentive and friendly. I think it helped that my friend was a familiar customer. We came on a Monday afternoon around 11:30 and It was early enough where parking was still available. We ordered the classic dishes, including salt and pepper fried pork chopsand salt and pepper fried shrimp, but the taste this time around left a lot to be desired. These two dishes lacked the crunchiness and flavors that these fried entrees are supposed to showcase. We found the pork chops to be dry and tough, as if it was prepared a while ago and sitting out for some time before it made its way to our table. The shrimp was not impressive either. At least the shaking beef or bo luc lac was good. The beef chunks were tender, and the flavors were on point. Bonus points for the broth that is complimentary during lunch. Also the complimentary orange slices were a nice touch to end our meal. We'd still return for the lobster and noodle when the occasion comes up.

It makes the place feel welcoming for the diverse, multicultural families that gather here. If you're looking for a solid spot for a family-style Chinese dinner, this place has stood the test of time for us.
