Mid 3. Missed a few things to be a 4 star. Came here for lunch @ $22. (+) Variety of 'beef' for lunch is limited but the quality is good. (+) Veggies, hot pot items, and seafood was good (+) Service is solid (-) Soup base is extremely salty (=) Sauces, which is important for shabu is good, but their ponzu was extremely salty (--) A few items such as chicken wings, pad see ew AND dessert was empty and not replenished the entire time we were there for lunch (12:45 to 1:30). Why even served it if you're not going to keep a fresh or replenish it?
I've been to other happy lamb locations that I liked but I didn't enjoy my meal here as much as I expected Broth was just ok. We tried most of the meat options and there were a good amount that I didn't really like, which was surprising to me since I'm not a particularly picky eater. There was an ok amount of sides that you can get at the self serve bar but they weren't super memorable in my opinion
This place was so good that I came back a week after I first had it! I've had Happy Lamb Hot Pot bookmarked for a long time, but never made it out to try it until recently. It was so good that I came back again a week later! Their $21.99 weekday AYCE lunch is a steal for the quality and variety of food you get! I first came on Friday, July 3rd for lunch, but was charged $31.99, their regular dinner price because they considered it a holiday. Bummer, considering it's not the actual July 4th holiday. You get the same options as you would at $21.99. Drinks are not included at this price. Here's what really draws me to this place. I love that they have two types of lamb to choose from - Aged and Spring Lamb. While I liked both, the Spring Lamb is my favorite. They also offer beef, pork, and chicken that you can order and buffet of raw items to cook and hot items to eat right away. The quality of their food is really good for their lunch price! The options are also great! They had Crown Daisy, my favorite hotpot veggie the first time I came. But the second time I came, it was swapped out to Watercress. While I also love Watercress, I preferred Crown Daisy. The soups are flavorful and has a nice herbal flavor to them, which I love! I've tried House Special Original Broth, House Spicy Broth, and Mushroom Broth. House Special Original Broth is a must, especially if you like that Chinese Herbal flavor profile. Service was friendly both times. They do check on you often, but when they get busy, it's less frequent. I love that this restaurant is huge and clean! The decorations are also very nice - definitely seems like a semi-upscale place. If you like good quality hot pot that doesn't break the bank, come check this place out for weekday lunch! Just don't come during holiday season.
I have been to happy lamb back in 626 before they closed down, luckily there's one in oc! My friend and I came here around 5pm on a Thursday after work which wasn't busy at all. Service was really quick and friendly! Veggies bar did have a lot of fruit flys or gnats on the bean sprouts which threw me off. Drink options are good, we mainly sticked with the beef short plate! We ordered the original broth and the house spicy, both really good and paired well with the meats.
Just left Happy Lamb Hot Pot and honestly... my soup now has higher standards than me This spot is giving luxury hot pot energy without making your wallet cry too hard. The broth simmers for like 8 hours, and you can taste it immediately -- rich, cozy, slightly life-changing. The Wagyu disappeared from my plate faster than my self-control, and the lamb was super tender. I also love the self-serve setup because I got to pretend I was on a cooking game show grabbing veggies, sauces, shrimp, noodles... everything. Dangerous for competitive people. The vibe inside is modern, clean, cute booths everywhere, and the staff was super attentive even while everyone around me was entering full hot-pot survival mode. If you're hungry hungry, this place is dangerous in the best way. I came for dinner and left emotionally attached to the broth. 10 outta 10 Pricing: AYCE options typically range from roughly $28-$44 depending on the package, with weekday lunch specials often available.
When a restaurant has "happy" in the name... and it actually makes you happy Happy Lamb Hot Pot definitely lives up to the name. First, their buffet bar unlimited and most importantly, clean !!! The menu has so much variety too. Just look at the clam soup my husband made Their appetizers are so good too, but the most memorable dish for me? The lamb shank. It's a true Inner Mongolian-style hot pot experience. And if you're a meat lover like me... the wagyu beef brisket and wagyu bolar blade are impossible to resist. The service was excellent, especially the young, beautiful manager, who was very professional, attentive, and made everyone feel welcome. The restaurant was clean with a pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to come back again!
My friend wanted hot pot so we decided to give this place a try since it was next to Daiso (where we were at). We got here around 5:30pm on a Friday night and sadly it was pretty empty. I suppose it was still early for dinner, but when we left, the place was only half packed. The classic all-you-can-eat menu was $31.99, but it barely had any protein options so we opted for the deluxe all-you-can-eat menu that was $40.99. There were more selections, but the premium items were limited to one per person. If I had to compare, the selections were far more limited than other hot pot places. The protein options were disappointing as well as the self-serve veggie station. There weren't a whole lot of choices in terms of vegetables. I love spinach and crowned daisy, but there weren't any. They had watercrest, which was the closest. The hot food station was also limited in the choices. Stir fried dishes looked like they had been sitting there for hours and did not look very appealing. For the proteins, we selected the Wagyu bolar blade, Wagyu beef brisket, bbq lamb shank, shrimp paste, and conch slices. Instead of the bbq lamb shank, they brought out another cut of lamb that was not marinated in bbq sauce. Instead of the conch slices, they brought out some beat up red prawns that were uncleaned and filled with so much waste that was disgusting. The shrimp paste was sour, obviously spoiled! For the broth, we selected the Best of Broth Worlds. One side was the original house broth and the other was a spicy one. The original was OK, but the spicy was not spicy at all and lacked flavor. Overall, the experience was quite disappointing. We also noticed that there were huge gnats or fruit flies swarming around our table. The restaurant looked clean on the surface, but I'm sure the kitchen was not so clean. A clean restaurant would not have bugs flying around, creating a nuisance for the diners, but more importantly, a cleanliness concern. I do NOT recommend this restaurant!
We came with heigh recommendations and we were not disappointed. The decor and first impression was elegant and pleasant, service was excellent (our server was Joyce, she was great), and the food was amazing. Don't get fooled by the name, even though it's Lamb, but their specialty is actually Wagyu and it was excellent. If you are a fan of quality beef, it's worth paying the extra $9 for the experience. Love the House broth and Golden cabbage broth we got. Both are delicious, one is light and the other is strong and slightly spicy, a perfect combination. In addition to the Wagyu, we loved the fish, lamb, shrimp paste. The tiger shrimps from the special room were excellent as well. The 'other' room was spectacular. Much more than vegetables, seafood, various noodles, sweets, ... I'm not a sweet drinks person but I really enjoyed the mango lemonade. The sauce area is crazy. So many things and I forgot to take a picture of it. One thing they are missing is done ice creams but the consolation is the classic cotton candies. Pretty unique and colorful. Tip: come hungry!
Hadn't had hot pot in ages. Like years. So, when a friend and I were thinking about what to eat - hot pot was mentioned. Then the next thing I know I'm pulling into the parking lot and we're walking in. No wait. We walked in and the hostess had to wait for us as we were taking pictures (Damned Yelpers!). Place is clean and lively. Not busy. But we were there early. Place filled up and the volume picked up. Not ideal if you want to have a cozy conversation over dinner. We opted for the "Best of Both Worlds" - see pics. Half mild and the other half, supposed to be spicy. It wasn't. Not sure if they misheard and made it less spicy or if the "mild" broth had seeped over but it was kinda lacking - for both of us. I mention this because if you know me, you know I eat fire. She doesn't and she wasn't feeling it either. Ordering - if you order the deluxe, there are premium cuts, which we ordered all - then you go to the self serve line for the rest - veggies, seafood, sauces and drinks. Almost forgot, there's even a "hot" section. Service was good. Polite and friendly. Following up but gradually dropping off as it got busy. But not to the point that we couldn't just make eye contact and they'd be right there. Will I go back? Pricing felt fair but I didn't feel it was great value either. Feel like it's ok if you're close by and craving it but I'm not driving down from LA , out of my way for it. Not on my "must visit" again list. So, not bad, not great. An OK experience overall.
The place for me had a lot of options for what I would say deserves a visit to visit to fill your tummy with lamb and beef briskets. I got good service and they got WiFi so it was pleasant stay to keep entertained while eating. The place is clean and really organized the soda drink and option of foodies is well presented.
Had a great time for lunch today at Happy Lamb. This place took over the Lazy Dog Cafe spot. We had a yummy lunch with all you can eat meats and sides. They have split broth so you can pick two soup bases. There is plenty of parking. The restaurant was bright and clean. The workers were very nice. We will be back. Happy Yelping!
Absolutely worth the price, so many different sides & vegetables. I like how you don't have to wait around to order potatoes, etc. because that always causes delays at other AYCE hot pot places. - Also, 10% discount for students! Service is top tier and the wait staff are so nice. I loved the interior because the booth design was so classy. Everything was very clean! Would definitely come back.

Our family enjoyed the delicious hot pot here for lunch. Based on the name, we initially thought they only had lamb here, but their AYCE pork and beef were exceptional! Haven't been to this chain since it was still Little Sheep (小肥羊), and with a huge upgrade, the place is much nicer than I remember. The ingredient bar had a ton of choices, from fresh vegetables and mushrooms to noodles, tofu, fish balls, and other hot pot staples. I also liked that they had plenty of hot side dishes, which is great if you're dining with kids or just want something to snack on while waiting for your meat to cook. Everything tasted fresh, and the meats were good quality. The broth choices were flavorful without being overly salty, and they kept everything at the buffet stocked throughout our meal. Amy was our server and she was awesome. She was friendly, attentive, and had us laughing by saying "thank you" in a bunch of different languages. Better atmosphere, lots of variety, fresh ingredients, and great service make it an easy choice for a weekday lunch too! read more

Had a wonderful AYCE hot pot experience at Happy Lamb! The quality of the ingredients was impressive, with a great selection of meats, vegetables, seafood, and hot pot essentials to choose from. Everything tasted fresh and was consistently replenished throughout the meal. One of the highlights was the broth. It was rich, flavorful, and comforting, serving as the perfect base for all the ingredients. Whether you're a fan of classic flavors or enjoy trying different combinations, there's something for everyone. Happy Lamb offers a Chinese-style hot pot experience in a very modern, super clean setting. The interiors feel sleek and well-maintained, and the service was exceptional throughout our visit. The broths here lean more herbaceous and "healthy" tasting, with noticeable notes of goji berries, ginger, and other traditional ingredients. It's not the sweet-and-salty profile I'm typically used to with hot pot, but still very enjoyable in its own way. They have buffet-style options for vegetables, noodles, and seafood, and I found the selection to be fairly extensive. The sauce bar was also impressively clean, with a wide variety of ingredients to customize your own dipping sauce. One of my favorite parts was the variety of lamb options, since lamb is one of my favorite meats. The lamb shank was a standout, cooked perfectly and served with cumin seasoning on the side. They also had sweet shell-on prawns that you cook in the broth, which were another highlight. And a fun, unexpected touch: they have a cotton candy machine where you can make your own cotton candy. I just fell in love with this AYCE hotpot place. The food was bountiful and we ate so much because the food was so good!!! We ordered the House Spicy broth and the mushroom broth. We also enjoyed the Beef short plate, NZ Spring Lamb, Kuruboto Pork and Garlic Chicken. An epic experience!! I'll be back again and again. AYCE lunch was only $21.99, dinner is $31.99. We came for lunch and got the $27.99 lunch special, which was such a great deal for the amount and variety of food. We chose the golden cabbage broth and mushroom broth, plus drinks, and everything hit the spot. The restaurant is very clean and well organized, which we appreciated right away. There's a wide variety of vegetables, hot items, seafood, carbs, and a fully stocked sauce bar, so it's easy to customize your meal exactly how you like it. Everything looked fresh and was constantly being refilled. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. My golden cabbage broth ended up being a little too spicy for me because of the green Sichuan oil, and she was incredibly patient. She took her time to remove the oil and added in regular broth so I could enjoy it comfortably. That level of service really stood out. Overall, great value, great service, and a fun hot pot experience. Would definitely come back for lunch or dinner and recommend it to anyone looking for AYCE hot pot in the area. read more

Sauntering in on the FIRST OF DECEMBER, I didn't even know this place existed. This place used to be the site of my beloved Lazy Dog Cafe. However, we can't spend much time dwelling about the past when we're living in the present! My first initial thought was this place is very CLEAN. How often do you get to see a restaurant that has hospital level sterile clean in the establishment? Not often, I would have to say. You can look at the pictures to see for yourself. We came in at noon for the lunch weekday special on Monday. I was very impressed by the buffet style cold dishes as well as the sauce counter. However, the most delicious 5/5 yelp star section happens to be their fried food aisle with chicken wings and sesame balls. They were heavenly. As I bite through the sesame balls and fried chicken wing, my tastebuds exploded with rich flavors. These seem freshly fried and has a delicious umami flavor throughout. Usually side dishes for a hot pot place is inferior but in this establishment, it seemed to flip the script! Next came the main course which disappointedly was average. I would give it a 3/5 stars. The meats and broth looked good as we opted for a half and half. However, the lamb meat seemed to permeate and impart its gamey flavor throughout the hotpot, thus affecting all sorts of beef and pork slices that were subsequently put in afterwards. Furthermore, upon asking the server if he could replace the broth, they said it would be a 5 dollar upcharge. He tried his best to dilute the broth by adding more but the gaminess permeate throughout the meat regardless. I don't understand the difference if we get unlimited pours of broth versus replace the pot when the broth level was low? Anyways, between fried food and hotpot, this place averaged a 4/5 yelp stars for me. If it weren't for the fried food, I would have to give this place a 3 yelp stars. Overall, I don't think I would be returning to this place, sadly. I do have to say that the aesthetics look good enough for instagram! read more

With the rainy and cold weather my daughter and I went to try this fairly new hotpot nearby. Friday night for the premium option was $41.99 for AYCE. A wide variety of options at the bar area. The highlight for my girl was the unlimited cotton candy. Service was great as consistent in clearing plates and asking if needed anything. Lots of seating inside and place felt clean read more

Kenny and Joyce made our experience very memorable. From the service to the food, everything is excellent. Both of them were very attentive and you can truly see they take pride at what they do. From the seafood to the veggies. Meat slices were very thin but I didn't care, it's ayce! Their sauce bar is extensive, covers all the essentials plus some. This place is immaculate and so spacious. The booths offer lots of privacy. The number of sides available, apart from the hotpot, was very fun. Pad See Ew Fried Rice Fried chicken Stir fries Egg rolls Sesame balls Dessert options were oranges, cream puffs, and these deliciouss caramel?/chocolate cakes. I ate 3 of those cake pieces! The servers were checking up often and refilling broths. I preferred the Spicy broth to the Mushroom broth, it was more flavorful. Next time I would get the bone broth instead of mushroom. Had such a great experience at Happy Lamb in Westminster! The buffet was super fresh with tons of veggies, seafood, and fish balls to choose from. The New Zealand lamb and Australian Wagyu beef were top quality and so tender. Their broths were amazing -- rich, flavorful, and honestly so good even without sauce. OMG. How come i didnt know about this place sooner? This Happy Lamb Hot Pot has quickly become my new favorite lunch spot. For just $21, you get an incredible value without sacrificing quality. The meat is fresh and tender, and the seafood is just as impressive--everything tastes clean and high-quality. What really sets this place apart is the customer service. The staff is attentive, friendly, and always make sure you have everything you need, which makes the whole dining experience even better. The meat is good. I really do like it. The soup was fine - I just happen to not be the biggest soup person (Ironic, I know). The service was fine and easy. Your usual hotpot type of young waiters and waitresses just doing their job. The place was busy but didn't feel full. You get your own drinks, forewarning. The only thing I'd really say is the little extra bar they have where you usually get vegetables or hot food is not exactly the cleanest looking or the freshest, at least when I went. An amazing all you can eat hot pot restaurant! We went with the "happy" option and it was delicious. The spicy marrow broth has a nice kick to it that isn't too overpowering. The mushroom had a nice savory umami flavor. The meats and seafood were fresh. There are a variety of hot pot ingredients they have available. Service was super kind and attentive. It was our first time there and they were very helpful in guiding us on how to dine here (and how to use their cotton candy machine!). Plenty of modern and clean seating. Would definitely recommend. We came here for my dad's birthday. The space is new and clean and very spacious. Two AYCE options. The soup broth is a split pot shared amongst 4 people. I personally like my own pot. The veggie and cook food section is well stocked and clean with a good selection. We went with Happier and the first round of meat quality was great. The second round was less quality and very fatty. We went with the Happier option, and the best part about it was the wagyu selection--beautifully presented when brought to the table. The restaurant itself is incredibly aesthetic; as soon as you walk in, it feels clean, refreshing, and modern. I don't eat hot pot often, so to me, all the meats tasted pretty similar, but the variety at the bar really stood out. There were even some hot dishes available. My favorite? The chicken wings! Cost: $42.60 for the Happier option (with tax without tip). This is the only reason why it's not 5 stars.. it's so expensive! read more
My first hot pot experience and I am a huge fan! I really prefer it over Korean bbq because there is just so much variety in veggies and other items outside of the meet. The variety of noodles and rice cakes, taro and bok Choy and mushrooms, it's great! And of course the broths had amazing flavor. The added buffet is a nice touch even tho completely unnecessary. We came as a family on Saturday to give it a try, and honestly, the value for the price is amazing. The self-serve area offers a wide variety of vegetables, along with plenty of cold dishes and hot food options. The walnut shrimp was a standout -- the shrimp were huge and absolutely delicious! We chose the premium package, and the cheese shrimp balls were our favorite. They were juicy with melted cheese inside and made entirely of shrimp -- it was our first time ever having something like this at an all-you-can-eat hot pot restaurant. The roasted lamb leg was also excellent, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. On top of that, the restaurant is very clean, and the ventilation system works great -- we left without any lingering food smells at all. Definitely worth coming back！ read more

Great cuts of meat, especially the aged lamb. The mushroom broth is my favorite. I was surprised of how good the hot appetizers are; the honey shrimp and wings are good to munch on while waiting for more meats to be brought over. The restaurant is clean and casual, good for entertaining parties of 2-4. Just make sure everyone is OK with sharing one pot per table. When there is enough staffing, the service is excellent. Unfortunately, if you go in the middle of the week for lunch, you might have to wait a long time for the server to revisit your table for more meat, or the check to pay. Be sure to take advantage of the cotton candy machine! read more
