Came here on a Friday night and was greeted right away when I walked in. There were a few people ahead of me, but the service was surprisingly quick and efficient. You pay a set price and fill your bowl however you want. The bowl looks small at first, but once it's cooked and served with the added noodles, it's actually a generous amount of food. One of the best parts is choosing your own sauces and seasonings, which really makes or breaks the dish. I went with hot sauce, lemon sauce, garlic, and their house sauce, and it turned out super flavorful and well seasoned. You start with your meat selection and this is a self-serve restaurant (like most Mongolian BBQ spots) so be prepared to get your Tetris going. The protein selection was normal with chicken, pork, and beef - but I was surprised to see them offer beef brisket! The vegetable selection is also standard with all expected options like water chestnuts, corn, jalapeno, mushrooms, etc. At the end, the staff will ask for spiciness level, garlic, and sauce. I just went with spicy and all the recommended sauce. I will say though that if you are a spice lover, spicy isn't that spicy. The overall flavor of the dish was good, but I felt like it was lacking a deeper depth that I am accustomed to from other Mongolian spots. The staff is nice and the restaurant is clean. One of the first dates Toby and I had when she visited here for the first time was a Mongolian BBQ place at the mall. I told her in high school there was a famous Mongolian BBQ joint near the school that every Senior made it a point to have a picture taken at for the yearbook--like a tradition. But unlike Mong Q, the food they served there was pretty forgettable, especially for a sit-down type place. Mong Q for being a far more fast casual joint really delivered a quality entree of exactly what I was looking for--lots of brisket and pork loin, a ship ton of garlic, veggies, and a lot of sauce over a bed of noodles. You couldn't ask for anything more from a quick and dirty Mongolian BBQ joint when the hunger is high and the time left before your movie is low. The service was S-Tier. They got me my food and drink fast, fast, fast. They didn't do a lot of back and forth with making my bowl. They just took what was given to them and did me right by handing me back a quality tasty bowl of yum. The quarters, while not huge, was still clean and kind of had a modern touch. I wouldn't mind hanging out here after the meal just shooting the ship with friends; it had that kind of vibe to it. While not an entirely unpleasant experience, Mong Q isn't somewhere I'd recommend for good food. Staff is friendly, and service is quick - time spent really just depends on how quickly you build your bowl and hand it over to be cooked since the cooking portion only takes a minute or two. There are a few indoor and outdoor tables. No restroom, but there are plenty throughout the mall itself. Plenty of parking all the way around the mall. The noise level stays mild-moderate as most people take their food to go. Two stars taken off for the food and prices. While they do have a decent selection of toppings that look pretty fresh, the meat options are frozen and usually broken into tiny pieces - meaning they disappear once cooked. The final product is greasy and honestly just tastes like oil despite the use of sauces. For what you get, the price is expensive. Not too many drink options (water and fountain drinks), but those aren't priced too bad. I regret not checking reviews before I stopped here, but hopefully I can save you the trouble. read more

My boyfriend is the biggest fan of Mongolian BBQ. We noticed this spot opened up and I knew we had to try it out. I have to start off with the amazing service from Hector and the cook! They were both so nice and gave us a smile as we walked in. Hector let us know that the store was new and even welcomed us back. Our bowls were stuffed ! They are so generous with the portions here. Hector explained the different sauces which were very helpful. At our usual spot, they just slam everything together and push you along. Not here! The store is also spotless. There is plenty of seating but we took ours to go. The plate was enough to feed me and my boyfriend. We added spice but next time we'll have to add more. I've long been anticipating the opening of this place, as Mongolian BBQ feels like a dying trend yet it's such a mall essential, and it's awesome that Orange has a new, more local place. Since it's new, it's very clean, and though inside seating is a bit limited, if it's not peak dining hours, you can probably get a seat or just sit outside. It's pretty straightforward where you get your bowl, fill it up with meat and veggies, and then they will actually cook noodles on the side, so feel free to fill your bowl up as much as possible. They will also do the sauces for you, so you're not making a whole mess. They have two sizes, the small and the large, and I found the large to be a decent portion, though perhaps a bit expensive compared to the nearby Red Peak, but honestly, I'm not scientifically measuring things, and my appetite is so variable it's hard to tell. You really can't go wrong with Red Peak pricing though, but Mong Q gets the benefit for being in a convenient location. I will have to hand it to Mong Q for having the better flavor profile when it comes to sauces though, sometimes Red Peak can feel like too much is going on at once. I'm glad that this opened and will definitely be back, maybe making it a regular outing when catching a movie in AMC and wanting to food coma so I crash halfway through the movie. Dinner time and it was empty should've been my warning; we walk in about to enjoy a nice Mongolian BBQ meals. We started putting the food into the bowl and we were wondering why to-go they used the glass bowl instead of the box. Well, then when we were about to finish adding the food to the tiny bowl an OG guys (probably owner) came over started yapping not to use the hand when the meat fell of the bowl. He continues and we told him why didn't they give us a to go box. The bowls are angle, tiny and not flat so you cannot put much in it. Instead of making all these excuses why not just say I'm a tight wad owner and don't want you putting much food into a bowl. But at least let us put enough food to be full after the meal my goodness! Obstensibly, there is a sign that states not to use your hands when food falls over the bowl which we didn't see like we are there to read lol... I was at Rubio's waiting for my order and when I looked across to this place I saw this guy standing there and grabbing a piece of something from the topping selection and eating it. He did it several times so that's when I decided to take a photo. I felt like I needed to let the manager know. Finally a good Mongolian BBQ place in Orange County and it's located at the Block of Orange! If you've never had Mongolian BBQ this is the best place to try. It's a fun process where you get to pick everything you want in your bowl. Pick a small or large and stuff it with as much meat or veggies that fit into the bowl. Once you're done, you tell them what sauce you want in the bowl or you can ask them for their recommendation. Watch them add noodles, and cook all the items in your bowl on their big grill. It's so fun to watch it all get cooked in front of you. The sauces that they have here is what makes it so good and unique. I highly recommend adding their house teriyaki at the end of the process!!
