Came here for lunch. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. They have a pretty extensive menu and a variety of curries. We got cream cheese wontons to start. For entrees, we got panang curry with beef and pad thai with chicken. Cream Cheese Wontons- Served hot and crispy. The cream cheese filling is nice and rich. The sweet chili sauce on the side adds a citrusy accent to the dish. Panang Curry with Beef- The curry is perfectly savory with a good amount of heat. There's a generous amount of basil that gives an extra layer of flavor. The beef is tender and you get potatoes and carrots to bulk up the dish even more. Ordered the red curry lunch special. Found a piece of black hair tucked inside the rice after almost finishing the meal. Now, before someone says it might have been my hair (i have black hair), the hair was freakin doing cartwheels in the rice. There was no way it was my hair. I told the server and he took it back and ask if I was a ok with a discount. I'm thinking cool, half off or something since I ate most of it. Bill came back and took off only 20%... $2.59 off!! WTF. Stopped at Cha Thai after getting back from a long business trip and in need for something quick and simple. Arrived at lunchtime with the place being somewhat busy. After I got seated, I was a served a complimentary vegetable soup which comes with the lunch special. The soup was quite tasty and also had a little kick to it. For my main course I chose the Red Curry with Chicken medium spicy. The dish came with a side salad and white steamed rice. Unfortunately I was not blown away by the curry at all. They mean it when they say "generous" portions because my take out container had DEPTH! And typically when restaurants claim "seafood" it's a pretty lackluster mix of some shrimp, fish, and fish meatballs. No, they gave me the works (mussels, shrimp, squid) and it was flavorful and so tasty. I have my go-to spots for amazing Thai in LB so finding a comparable spot is a must. I order Pad Thai mostly but if I ever wanted to explore their menu more, I feel doing so won't let me down. Only place I'd order pad thai! My go to at Thai restaurant are pad Thai and pad see ew. Basic, I know. However, I notice that pad see ews are usually pretty comparable across the restaurants I've gotten them at. However, a lot of restaurants make their pad Thai differently. I love it here because it's not plain tasting like other places and it's not super saucy like others. I hate when my noodles are drowned in sauce where it feels like I'm eating soup and I like flavor in my pad Thai not just plain noodles. I think this place does a great job with their pad Thai taste. We opted for a booth at the front and were promptly approached by one of the servers. She quickly took our drink order and left us to look over the menu. We ordered crying tiger, drunken noodles, and the thai fried rice with pork. The crying tiger was perfectly cooked and the sauce was spicy and flavorful. The drunken noodles were okay. I feel that is was missing something I couldn't quite put my finger on. The thai fried rice was really flavorful and is something I definitely would order again. Wontons are overcooked. The sweet and sour chicken looked mostly brown instead of colorful and was bland. The pad Thai was very bland. Noodles dry and all stuck together. Everything is just average at best for me here. Pros: Located in a small strip mall. Decor is cute The 5 piece egg roll did come out hot which is great. Cons: Portion size is a bit on the small side. Even with an appetizer I barely got full. Thai Ice coffee is a big fail. Water down and sugary. It costs $5 so you will be better off getting your drinks from other boba or coffee places. I posted two pictures of their spring rolls and It's the first of its kind that I've encountered. First off, there was absolutely no rice vermicelli to be found. Second, why is there so much lettuce? The portions of lettuce to everything else was at least 5:1. You know how your typical spring rolls are served with a peanut sauce? These were served with a salty AF soy sauce based mixture. I'd rename this to "Super bland lettuce rolls with soy sauce, topped off with extra salt." (0/5) Don't get me wrong here, if I had just ordered the pad thai, this would've possibly been a perfect 5/5, but those spring rolls totally ruined the vibe. read more
