This used to be my husband's favorite restaurant, so we arrived excited and looking forward to great food. Unfortunately, what we experienced felt more like a restaurant on its last leg! When we walked in, there wasn't a host or greeter at the front stand. Instead, the bartender YELLED across the restaurant TWICE to get our attention and then yelled at us again for us to "sit anywhere". I wanted to sit outside to enjoy the summer weather, but after seeing the lack of staff, we sat in direct view of the front desk and general path of travel. Even then we had to repeatedly ask for our drinks. Service was slow, disorganized and the staff just walked around without urgency. I'd love to say the food made it better, but that wasn't the case. The smoked rib tips arrived so dry that they were practically beef jerky. They tasted like they had been reheated in a microwave. Our son ordered wings with buffalo sauce and they came out bone dry without the sauce. We alerted a random waitress because ours was nowhere to be found and she took them back to be coated. It literally took 20 minutes to have them back. I mean, what the heck are the kitchen people doing?!! Lastly, they no longer serve potato salad.... I loved their potato salad! Ugh! Came by for dinner tonight after ordering takeout from here in the past, and felt it was time to share a review. Overall I left with mixed feelings, but did enjoy the meal all things considered. Sauced is located in the Cinemark plaza across from Pitfire. Parking directly in front is limited, but there is plenty in the surrounding area. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, along with bar seating. I'd recommend making a reservation in advance as it can get busy. Service was pretty good overall, our server was friendly and the manager was making the rounds too which was nice. My only critique is that it did take a little bit of time to get service on things when we needed it, but did have things addressed quickly once we'd get our servers attention. On the food front, I got the ribs, brisket, mac & cheese, green beans, baked beans, and slaw. The brisket and ribs both came out very dry unfortunately, but the ribs were flavorful (the provided bbq sauces also helped). The mac & cheese was on the grainy side, but the baked beans and green beans were delicious. The Cole slaw was fine, a bit bland but nothing to write home about. I must admit that the food tasted better when I had ordered takeout a couple years back, which is why I had hoped today's meal would be even better than it was. It's also a pretty pricey meal for how much food you get, so I was hoping the quality of the meat would've been better. I don't think this place is bad by any means, but it does feel like the quality has gone down. I'd certainly be open to visiting again in the future, and hope things are better next time. read more

It wasn't extraordinary BBQ, like I wasn't walking out impressed, but it was decent for what it was. Definitely on the pricey side. Thought it was odd that we were forced to eat at a table at the bar. It looked like there were plenty of open seats for our party of 4 to sit at in the common space, but they said we could only sit at the bar. read more

I've been wanting to try this place ever since they first opened their El Segundo location, but I never got around to it , so I was super excited that I finally got the chance to come by Ambiance: The vibe here is such a fun mix of dive bar and country BBQ spot. There's a bar area where you can grab drinks and watch the game, plus a spacious dining area with multiple TVs showing different games. They also have axe throwing, which I didn't get to try this time, but it's definitely on my list for next visit. The space is really open and laid-back , perfect for dinner parties, group lunches, or just hanging out with friends Service: I came with my family, and it was everyone's first time here. The menu has a lot of options, which was a little overwhelming at first, but our waiter (sadly forgot his name) was amazing. He gave great recommendations and was super patient with my dad and husband while they asked questions about the menu. Huge shoutout to him, 10/10 service. Also, the food came out really fast, which we appreciated Food: I ordered the ribs and brisket along with their cucumber watermelon lemonade. The drink was SO good, super refreshing and honestly dangerous because you can't really taste the alcohol. Highly recommend if you don't like overpowering drinks. This is what lucilles used to be when they first opened: good quality bbq in a large open welcoming space. All the meats i tried were so good, and it was fun trying all the sauces that i poured on straight from the bottle to each bite like a hedonistic american. Lots of beer on tap, lots of tvs mounted high on every wall playing every sport imaginable. Great for large groups! Service could be a bit faster but large groups always slow down the pace so i get it. My server in particular was really nice, patient, and apologetic about the wait, and still made an effort to be personable. He recommended what sides would make more sense which i really appreciated. She checked on us often and made sure we were well taken care of. FOOD: We tried several things and everything was yummy. Fried pickles, and honey cornbread were a great way to start. We were seated right away by a host. We ordered "The BIG SMOKE "family style feast which feeds 6-8 comfortably but boy must i tell you. It's pretty huge. We had 7 girls and after we ate. Seemed like the feast itself was barely touched. Lol. Definitely a lot of food. Come really hungry or a big appetite if you plan to order that. Everything was really delicious. The bbq meats was really tender and the sauces they had. Finger licking good indeed! I'm a bread & butter gal. love the cornbread and honey butter. So so yum! Associate was really friendly and service was great. We got our food in a timely manner. Restaurant has a Bbq house of vibe. THE AXE part was pretty cool activity. When it was our reservation time. I thought I would give this location a try since I've already been to the Irvine Sauced. This place is really big, and they have axe throwing. The were getting ready for a comedian that is performing later. I had the brisket, tri tip, and pork burnt ends. All the meat was overcooked and didn't have much taste. The best thing was the Mac and cheese that I had for my sides. The BBQ didn't agree with me at all. I had liquid laugh in the restroom. This evening I still don't feel good. Service was very, very slow and server only checked on my table once. We wanted to split the bill and was displeased you can only split evenly instead of split per couple. Even with multiple credit cards, server said they cannot "charge specific amounts per card" and can only be split evenly. I'm sure it's easier for business to split evenly instead of certain amounts. Celebrated my post birthday on a Saturday night with some great friends over good BBQ/drinks and Axe throwing after. Our host was very accommodating when i had to change our Axe time. Our server was attentive with our party of 13 during the time we were having dinner. The double Mango and Watermelon Margaritas were pretty good. The shots though should never be served over ice. Reservations can be made online in advance. We split a family feast which came with brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, ribs, and chicken along with your choice of two sides and cornbread. The service was slow but nice. The food was average - I really wanted like it but the meat wasn't that tender and the sausage was too salty. I appreciated having the option for a cucumber salad as a lighter contrast to the heavy meal. If you're looking for a fun BBQ/ax throwing location with a good happy hour menu look no further! We visit this place literally weekly for the happy hour and axe throwing in the rear! Yes this is a chain store but this is the only OC location with axe throwing! The place also features big screen TV's all over the open bar area and dining areas for those looking for a spot for big games too! They usually have most games playing on one of the TVs. The axe throwing in the rear of the bar area is the key highlight of this location! You do need to fill out a electronic waiver to play. They charge by the half hour or hour with rates from $15/30min or $30/hour. They will have a cutoff about 30 minutes before closing time so be aware! The cages aren't full competition length and only allow one arm throwing. But it's a fun time with friends or a different kinda date night activity! The menu has a variety of BBQ items and the happy hour has some great choices with like sliders, tacos, and finger foods. The best deals are the Happy Hour on Friday nights since its till closing! You get $1 off all tap beers, $6 house pints or $10 cocktails. Our go-to items are definitely the pulled pork or tri-tip slides, chips and queso, waffle fries. If you're going off the full regular menu they do have delicious smash burgers here if you're not feeling like BBQ. Otherwise they have great sets for sharing BBQ items with 2 or 3 items choices and choice of sides. The favorite is definitely the tri-tip. The food quality is pretty good but there are off nights! Sometimes you get a bad overcooked cut of meat but majority of the time it comes out perfect! The service here is usually pretty good but it also depends what day and how well staffed they are. Today I had ordered the Two Meat BBQ Plate; I chose the smoked brisket & the tri tip, with two sides being Mac n cheese and the slaw. The slaw was actually a great choice as my side. It wasn't too creamy but the flavor had a tart taste that was flavorful and favorable. I'm picky with how my slaw tastes. For the beer, I had ordered the Pig ol' Bitties, Blonde Ale (5%). Very smooth & refreshing on this hot, humid day when I came. Jenna was my server. She is the bartender here. She's is amazing and so cool! Knows how to hold a conversation and multitask. Best service ever. I did come solo this time and sat at the bar watching the sports games shown on the televisions in front of me. Having to experience quite a few bbq spots around town. Sauced has got to be one of my favorite top spots. Why? Let's find out. As you walk in, you'll notice how big this place is. You can fit a lot of people on a table with their infamous steel chairs. Great for birthdays and get togethers! They have plump and delicious bbq meats. I especially love their briskets. It's so soft and cooked to perfection. Not salty like other bbq spots. Their service is on point. Servers are very attentive unless it's very busy. They also have Axe throwing towards the back! What better way to chisel your arms than to throw axes at targets after having a nice bbq dinner/drinks. Last but not least, their beer and shot combos are amazing! My personal favorite is this little piggy went to the market (on Fridays only) which is a benchmark paired with a whisky. So smooth and compliments so well! Came here for OC Restaurant Week. We came on a weekday lunch hour so it wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. The staff was very friendly and did an excellent job at making sure our waters were refilled. They have a 25$ deal for lunch that gets you a sampler platter. It comes with two ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and burnt ends. For the sides you get baked beans, coleslaw, mac and cheese, and sweet potato casserole. We got an order of waffle fries with house rub on the side because I am a huge fan. Ribs- Nice and smoky. They have a variety of sauces to go with it and I always use the sweetest one because my palate runs that way. Brisket- Tender and juicy. It's a nice lean cut so you get so much meat. Pulled Pork- This practically melts in your mouth! You also get a nice char in the end. Burnt Ends- This is my favorite. The meat is tender and you get a nice smoky flavor with every bite. Baked Beans- A nice blend of sweet and savory. You get a brown sugar finish that works well with the meats. Coleslaw- The cabbage is crisp and you get a zesty flavor that adds brightness to your meal. Mac and Cheese- This is probably one of the best mac and cheese I've had from a bbq place. It is bursting with flavor and I really want to know what cheeses they used because it is delicious. Sweet Potato Casserole- My first time trying and I realize I've been missing out! The sweet potato is sweet and creamy and they have a lovely brown sugar crumble topping that adds a nice texture. Waffle Fries with House Rub- A classic. I've had Sauced for the first time several years ago when they had first opened up but totally forgot to write a review then. I went a little more recently a few months ago for a work outing so thankfully I can write a more detailed review with a very recent visit! Here's what I tried: **Sauced Paloma: Solid paloma with a salted rim. I love how they go heavy on the rim instead of just one side like other places. (5/5) **Watermelon Margarita: Opted to go with a tajin rim this time and jalapeno for an extra kick of spice. Not a big fan because the margarita portion was very weak and was overpowered by a strong artificial watermelon flavor. (2/5) **Pig Ol' Bitties: A solid blonde ale. A must try if you want to enjoy a nice crisp beer with your meal. (5/5) **Deuce Pigalow: I don't drink IPAs often but when I do, it's with heavy food like BBQ. You can definitely taste the tropical notes and it was also very refreshing. (5/5) **Cauliflower Bits: Half of our group were meat eaters but I'm glad I sat on the side where people actually ate vegetables. Opted to go with their buffalo sauce and it was delicious. It's really hard to go wrong with cauliflower and they nailed it. (5/5) **Bumpkins: A nice take on bbq infused egg rolls. I personally wasn't the biggest fan but it's a great dish to share for the table. For my sides, I went with their country style green beans and potato salad. The potato salad was decent but the green beans were just meh. (4/5) Afterwards, we signed up for axe throwing. I haven't personally gone axe throwing before but this spot has a much smaller range which calls for a shorter range of motion. Our instructor was super friendly and very informative. I had one little adjustment and I was throwing bullseyes in no time. Overall, all the staff we interacted with were all great! There was one guy going around getting our drink orders in fairly quickly which was nice. Later on, we had what seemed like a manager going around helping us out as well. This was my first time having BBQ after a recent Texas trip and of course it's not as good but this spot is pretty solid if you're looking for an above average joint in Southern California. read more

FINAL REVIEW FOR 2024! :) It's that time again: Hubbers' crew's annual holiday meet! Party of 19 (7 kids included) trickled in one group at a time close to the reservation time. Our table was good and ready for us, menus and utensils included. After a bit of chit-chat, we all finally got the chance to look at this extensive menu. It took awhile for me to decide, but when Hubbers mentioned he was going for the 3 meat combo, I knew what I'd end up with: something NOT in his combo. So! He went for the ribs, brisket and pork belly burnt ends (sides of loaded mash, chili and cornbread.) And that's how I ended up with a tri-tip plate (side of Texas toast and chili cheese fries.) I also got the cucumber watermelon lemonade to wash it down. The board said it came with vodka, but I didn't taste that at all. They were very skimpy with the liquor. I eventually switched to a hef. Tri-tip was phenomenal. The order came with three generously sized pieces, prepped and served as I like it: medium to almost medium rare. Under seasoned but that worked out well since I got to try some of the BBQ sauces on the table. Texas toast was done perfect, buttered and all. This might be the first time I have waffle fries with chili and cheese. Fries were great, same with the chili but the brisket mixed in was incredibly dry! Each-bite-made-me-thirsty kinda dry. After a couple of bites, I set most of the meat aside and settled for the cheese and chili sauce. I had a taste of Hubbers' plate: brisket was the driest I've ever had (they prolly used the same ones for the chili), ribs were above par and the burnt pork belly ends were... meh. Those bites were non repeats there for me. Hubbers liked them all, so all good. Loaded mash was great, though! Tons of flavor there. Cornbread was moist and tasty. FOOD: 3.25 (4 for mine, 2.5 for the ones I tried on Hubbers' plate.) SERVICE: 4.5. One of our servers, Mikey, was stellar. He and his colleague (didn't catch his name) were great at making sure our huge party had everything we needed in the duration we were there. VALUE: 2.5. A bit pricey for what you get. PARKING: Shared lots with many others. Not an issue on a Sunday night. OVERALL: 3.5. (Really, the service was the saving grace here.) They have another one of these places closer to home. We came here on a recommendation and were very happy. I got the two meat lunch special of pulled pork and ribs with garlic mash and waffle fries and my coworker got the brisket and chicken leg with garlic green beans and garlic mash. We both really enjoyed the flavors and the sweet bbq sauce was delicious. Our sweet teas were a little weak for our liking but were also from out of state so we have different views on what sweet teas should be like lol. My friends and I went for Sippin' Santa pop up for holiday themed beverages and fun cups. The restaurant was lightly decorated for the holiday not fully decked out like we had expected based on advertising for the event. I ordered the Santa Mai tai and it was not like any mai tai I had ever had before. After I left I questioned if they forgot to put the rum in it. As far as the Santa tiki aspect not sure why a BBQ joint would host a tiki event. Our server was not around much. Not sure if she was the only server but we were always looking for her when we needed her. When we asked about the axe throwing they offer there her first response was it's kinda pricey, if you do it. Only do 30 minutes because after that you'll be over it. She didn't seem to enjoy her job. I ordered the burnt ends pork belly with garlic mash and roasted garlic green beans. The pork belly was over cooked and tough. The garlic mash and green beans were fantastic. I shared some of the brussel sprouts with a friend and they were also fantastic. The overall consensus was that none of us would return here if craving BBQ. Out of a group of 8 no one was raving over the BBQ they had. Overall I left disappointed in the whole experience. My husband and I came here for axe throwing and it did not disappoint! Dominic, the instructor, was an absolute joy and truly loves the art of axe throwing. He is a gem of a human and we had so much fun! It's a cool little side space in the bar area, so we had a table just outside the cage to have our drinks and food. The watermelon cucumber vodka drink was delicious and my husband raved about the Tropical Lemonade (non-alcoholic). We had the Hand Grenades (Jalapeño poppers) and fries and they were also tasty. Honestly, 5 stars! Seated for lunch on Sunday at 12 immediately, chose the patio (smelled too Smokey inside for my kids). Service was quick and friendly. Kids meals are good! I love the options and the watermelon and chicken nuggets were so good! My hella Cali salad was soooo good, and it comes with delicious cornbread! Husband loved his sandwich and Mac.
