Pork Banh Cuon to go
Kianoosh C.

Came in to get some takeout while in the area. I ordered a pork banh cuon and a bun Bo hue. I called it in and they let me know it would be around 20 minutes. It ended up being more like 30 but no big deal. The staff were friendly, and the food was packed fairly well, with noodles, meat, hot food, etc all separated. The banh cuon was quite nice, my only complaint was that the banh cong fried thing they served it with was super dry (more than usual). The bun Bo hue was decent, but the meats in the specific bowl I ordered weren't exactly the right ones, and their broth was a little bit lacking. Granted I'd say it makes more sense to get just banh cuon if you come somewhere like this.

#11 ~ banh cuon thit va banh uot

It's kinda hard for me to gatekeep a good place..cuz once I'm hooked, I can't stop raving about it to all my family & friends. Bánh Cuốn Thanh Tri has become my favvv spot for bánh cuốn!!! I'm super glad I was IG-influenced to give it a try after stumbling across a fellow foodie's video hyping it up. Safe to say..it wasn't just clickbait and truly is 100% legit! If you are looking for a great spot to explore Vietnamese cuisine beyond the typical pho and bánh mi sandwiches, then Bánh Cuốn Thanh Tri is for you! I was super stoked that they opened this 2nd location in the heart of Vietville (aka Bolsa), which is a lil closer & less crowded than their OG store. There's a decent amount of seating inside. The decor is minimal, with pics of the traditional dishes they serve displayed on the wall. The staff is friendly & efficient. Parking in this plaza can get a lil cray, so heads up! Bánh Cuốn Thanh Tri is known for its authentic & delicious steamed rice rolls (bánh cuốn) with various fillings like egg, pork, and shrimp. I personally love the bánh cuốn thit và bánh uot #11 ($14.99) ~ pork steamed rice rolls & rice paper. It's classic and always delicious. My go-to, always. My hubs usually gets the bánh cuốn trung thit dac biet #7a ($15.99) ~ house special egg steamed rice rolls. Everything is always SOOO GOOD!!! The bánh cuốn is fresh & soft, and the meat filling is flavorful with a perfect light crunch from the mushrooms & onions. Mmm..tastes just like how my grandma use to make them. We also always appreciate that they're generous with the nước mắm (fish sauce) and provide refreshing free nước mát (herbal tea) with the meal. It's yummy & so refreshing. For the amount of food you get, reasonable price point, and overall quality, Bánh Cuốn Thanh Tri is super worth it & hits the spot every time!!! A total RxFoodie recommend!

BÁNH CUỐN ĐẶC BIỆT

Came around noon on a Saturday and waited around 10 mins for a table. There's a decent amount of tables inside with a line constantly forming. We shared 3 dishes among 4 people and were all stuffed and we barely even finished! Portions were big and prices reasonable. Service was nice and quick. The banh cuon plates all came loaded with a variety of toppings including cha, egg rolls, fried yam and fresh herbs. The banh cuon dac biet and banh cuon tom thit tasted very similar but they were all good. I would come back if I'm craving banh cuon!

Saw this spot online and my family wanted to try! Came around noon for a Saturday lunch and waited a few minutes for a table. We split 3 dishes among 4 people and were completely stuffed, we could barely finish! Prices are reasonable (around $15 each) for the large portion. Service was quick and friendly, I would come back! My favorite was the banh cuon dac biet, though the banh cuon trung trit dac biet (with egg) and banh cuon tom thit tasted very similar and had the same proteins. I liked how each one came with the fried sweet potato, cha, egg roll, crunchy friend onions, and assorted veggies

Just ate here the other day. It was one hot summer day and it's not as good back in the bay. Viet food is good here in OC, okay. Probably my fav Banh Coun spot as of today. We came in the morning and it was quite busy. It's on GG street, right next to Cortado. They are known for their Banh Cuon with their unique egg wrap. Never had it like that before and their version is delicious! It adds an eggy flavor to it. The dish was presented beautifully. Comes with Banh Cuon, Veggies, a Fried Yam, an Egg roll & a Mung Bean Muffin. It's definitely a 5/5 for me. My gf got the Banh Canh which is thick crab soup with noodles. The soup was cozy and flavorful. The bill came out to around $36. We were both very full and satisfied. I will definitely be coming back again. Good Vietnamese breakfast food worth checking out for sure!

House special

So I came here on the weekend of Banh Cuon Thanh Tri grand opening week. Came in at 4:00 pm and secured a seat quickly. The young gal working on refilling sauces on the tables acknowledged me sitting there. I asked her if I can order please, she said yes. Then 25-30 minutes went by, nobody came to take my order nor acknowledged my presence. I finally had to get their attention and asked again if I can order because I know the restaurant closed at 5:00 pm. The cashier, whom I believe is either the owner of that new location (or a family member of the owner - because I know the owner at their other location, I talked to her all the times) proceeded to tell me, sorry we no longer serve since we have nothing left to serve. Huh? Say what, I've been sitting here the whole time and seeing you serving other tables but me. He insisted that they have no more foods to serve and will be closing in less than 30 minutes. Really pissed me off. He could have told me 35 minutes ago and I would have left to go to another restaurant. I wasn't going to ever come back to this location again but was buying foods next door the following weekend so I walked in here trying again. Foods: ordered house special as usual. Everything tasted as good as their other location in Garden Grove. Rice rolls portion was much less than another Banh Cuốn place that I frequent but everything else is about the same. It appeared that they did one roll of each type, then cut them in fourth. It was delicious though, rolls, toppings, fried crispy shallots, and even the sauce! Yeah, would have been 5/5 if not because of the incident from the weekend before. Service was good on the second visit. That same young gal refilling the sauces and replenished the tables was very polite and respectful. I know the owner trained them well because I overheard her talking to other employees at the GG restaurant all the times. Indeed, my sisters and their families eat at the GG location at least a few times a month. What's funny was, in the most recent YouTube I watched about restaurants reviews, I saw my sister being videotaped waiting with her friends outside of the GG restaurant restaurant. She wasn't aware of it and was totally surprised when I sent her the clip. Ha ha

Egg Steamed Banh Cuon

Came here with my parents after hearing all the hype, and sure enough, there was a wait around Saturday lunchtime. Luckily, the line moved pretty quickly. First impression was an odd smell walking in, and the restaurant was very noisy, which is pretty typical for an Asian restaurant. The egg steamed rice rolls caught my attention since it was something new, so of course it had to be tried. My girlfriend was in a soup mood and went with the bun rieu. We both enjoyed our dishes and finished everything. My parents thought it was okay, but getting any review from them these days is its own challenge. Overall, this felt more like a one-and-done experience. The egg steamed banh cuon was interesting to try, although the craving to roll back for another round has yet to hit. Still worth checking out at least once to see what the hype is about.

Worth the price, and for those looking for a filling meal! The restaurant is located on Bolsa, which sadly is always packed with cars during lunch. However, they have a decent number of tables for dine-in, and there were also quite a few to-go orders while we were there. We were seated within 5-10 minutes, which wasn't bad. However, our order took a long time to arrive. We thought it was because they were busy, but how did the tables that came after us get their food before us? We didn't really mind because the servers kept assuring us the food was still on its way, so we waited another 5 minutes. When we got our food, it was plated with so much variety. We got rolls with eggs, meat, shrimp, and plain ones. Served with sweet potato fries, cha, and veggies on the side. Very delicious! (I recommend to get the dac biet one) Definitely will be coming back for the food!

Number 8!!

Brand new spot! Since their Banh Cuon is delicious, they expanded to a central location. While accessibility is great, parking can be nasty at this busy shopping strip. I would highly encourage you to be mindful of peak hours and carpool. Inside, you will see higher ceiling, open space. If anything, that could easily turn into a second story to open up more tables. I'll let them figure that out. Food wise, if you never had steam rice rolls before, they are good. There are several variations and iterations of this to choose from. Check out the pics and you'll get an ideal (pork, shrimp, beef, or egg even). You control the sauce level to your liking. It's accompanied by steam sprouts and cucumbers which lifts the plate a bit. Egg roll is always welcomed with these dishes. Swing by to try one of Vietnams staple dishes. It's delicious!

Hey Beautiful People! So you know how it's such a pain to drive to Garden Grove for food when the parking lots are tiny and always full?! Well, welcome to the 2.0 version. This location is in the same plaza as Luc Dinh Ky, Yummy, and Wells Fargo. Yeah, parking is a pain, but their food is SO good ajd the portions are SO generous for the price! Sigh... Anyway, the whole banh cuon menu is delicious, and I actually want to keep the 2nd location a secret because it is both bigger and cooler at the same time, but I don't want it to close due to lack of customers, so no choice but to share! Here goes... Top 3 Items You Absolutely Must Try: 3.) Banh Cuon Trung Dac Biet Rice paper. Eggs. Pork. What more could you want? 2.) Banh Cuon Dac Biet Okay Shrimp. You can also have shrimp with the other types of rolls that you're used to lol. This is the quintessential plate of banh cuon if you're looking for a variety, but also if you're not used to the eggy texture of the egg version. And the #1 Item you have to devour is: Banh Cuon Thit Nuong -- Make sure it's the rolled version. Omg, this is so delish! I have no words, so you'll have to see my pics! But don't order it before I get there so it doesn't run out when it's my turn And there you have it! The must-haves of this sexy 2nd location. Thanks for reading!

Sooo good had to come back and do it all over again. Piping hot super fast service with texture and flavors overwhelmingly delicious. Nice cold ac on this hot summer day with ice cold tea and delicious food makes me one happy camper.

We had been to the location in Garden Grove many times before. The last time we were there, we noticed some water damage with visible black mold so we haven't been back. This location was nice and bright. My husband thinks Bánh cuốn thịt nướng here is better than the other location. I had bún bò huế and it was good. My gripe is that they charged you $3 extra for using Credit card. That's to me is a turn off. I'm sure there are many other Bánh cuốn place that'd have equivalent or better tasting dishes for me to try.

8. Banh Cuon Dac Biet

Banh cuon thanh tri is my favorite banh cuon spot, so when i heard they finally open with 20% off for the first 3 days, I had to come check it out and support. Came on a Sunday morning around 840am, the wait list was about about 10+ deep, waited about 30-40 minutes before our table were called. After we ordered, took about another 20 minutes for our food to come out. My go to order is the banh cuon dac biet #8, Im not a fan of the egg in the banh cuon, I prefer the regular banh cuon. The banh cuon was good, but didn't quite taste the same as the OG location. Its too be expected since they just open, new staff, short on staff, and with the 20% promotions going on, they were slammed with dine in orders and togo/phone orders. Ill definitely try this location again once everything settles down.

The chicken was crispy and the dipping sauce gave it that extra yummy goodness. The dish also came with a side of broth that had chicken bits in it, was nice to help digest your dish. I also loved that they gave you pickled veggies & fresh veggies. We also ordered the Loi's Fusion Saltado, upgraded the rice to garlic egg fried rice. The beef was soft and tender, the fries were nice and crispy and the fried rice was fresh. You 100% need to get the Thai Tea. A lot of place add too much cream/half and half diluting the tea flavor, they do not skimp on the actual tea in their drink. The color speaks for itself on the dark orange hue!

I'm a bit late getting around to writing this, and unfortunately, they are already closed, but I still felt like I had to share my experience. I'm not completely surprised that they closed, especially after trying their bò né. I've had this dish many times at different places around Orange County, and unfortunately, this was probably the weakest version I've come across. The first thing that stood out was the presentation. As you can see in the picture, there was this purple-colored sauce on the meat itself, which honestly did not look very appetizing. To make things worse, the sauce was cold and did not heat in time with the skillet, which really took away from the experience. The flavor itself wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't anything memorable. It was just okay, and when you factor in the cold food and the presentation, it made the whole dish disappointing. With so many places around Orange County serving bò né at a much higher level, I would probably recommend spending your money elsewhere. If you were wondering whether you missed out on some hidden gem, don't worry, you didn't. This one felt more like a piece of coal than a diamond. That being said, every restaurant has its journey, and with more time, maybe they could have found their footing. Hopefully, they can take this experience as a lesson, refine their recipes, and bring something better in their next venture. I am rooting for you Loi!
