Parking was a nightmare, as this restaurant was nestled in a busy shopping complex with other restaurants. Eventually we found curbside parking adjacent to the complex. There are pre-set plates including the filet mignon steak + mi xao bo toi, bo luc lac + khoai tay chien, com ga hai nam + bo luc lac. You can also build your own plate with 1 item ($13), 2 items ($14), or 3 items ($15). You pick your protein choice(s) and side choice(s). Protein choices include: suon (bbq pork chop), thit nuong (boneless pork), ga nuong (grilled chicken), bo nuong (grilled beef). Side choices include: bi (shredded pork skin), cha (egg cake), cha trung muoi +$1 (egg cake w/salted egg yolk), trung opla (fried egg), tom chien (fried shrimp). I opted for the 1 item option with thit nuong and trung opla. I didn't stay long to pick up my food, as it was ready in under 10 minutes. This place use to be one of my favorite places for the broken rice plates. However, my opinions have changed over the past few months. I noticed the quality of the food has gone downhill fast. The meats have become smaller portions and more fat with a non-fresh taste like it once had. Tasted like it was cooked twice and the second ti.e was a reheat in the microwave. I kept thinking I'd give it another chance and that maybe they just had an off day or two. I found myself giving them more l chances than I should've. I would place pick up orders and also dine in. The last time was a dine in experience that tipped me over the top and my decision to never go here again. We went in for dinner in a Friday evening. There weren't many patrons inside. We were one of 3 tables. The restaurant appeared to have 3 servers. It took them a good 8 minutes before even bringing water to our table. The service was horrible. When the food came out, the server brought it over and pretty much slid the plates in front of us. Not speaking a word to either one of us. I watched him leave our table only to walk away a few feet and jump on his phone! Then I look around the bare dining area only to see the other 2 servers on their phones too! Wth? I understand that Asian restaurants are not really known for customer service but this was the not acceptable. The food tasted like plastic and luke warm at best. No refills on waters or checking in to see if anything was needed etc. No one brought a bill to our table so I had to go to the front where the register was to pay. I had to wait there for a few minutes to be acknowledged by a staff, which walked over to me with his cell phone is in his hands!!! The restaurant had 3 tables and 3 servers so there was absolutely no excuse of this low level of customer service. When I spoke to friends about this experience, they've said they've noticed the quality of the food and service at this restaurant để line in the past year. We didn't expect 5 star service however, there should be some kind of minimal level of courtesy and customer service. The restaurant should take this review and make it a training example. It's great to have the ability to pick 1 or 2 proteins and a side ranging from $13, $14 or $15. I really liked the texture of the rice as I could taste every grain. Between the pork and beef I preferred the pork but both were good. They both particularly tasted good with their fish sauce dipping sauce which was both sweet and spicy. The portions were big and we were stuffed at the end of the meal. We didn't care for either the shredded pork skin or the egg cake, but we liked the pickled veggies that balanced out with the meat. The food also came out blazing fast!
