I haven't been back to this restaurant in a long time, but it's nice to see that not much has changed. The food and overall experience are still as good as I remember. My only issue this time was the Tàu Hủ Ky, which I found to be a little too salty. Other than that, everything was enjoyable, and I'm glad to have come back.
Love this place, my dad loves this place, it one of the few spots we can actually agree on to go have lunch together. The com tam is pretty solid and all the items served to you are really good. A nostalgic restaurant for the area.

Best part: no wait on a Sunday, but still many customers! Parking is not good, shocker (this city always has cramped parking). The food was significantly better when I was in high school. Now it's alright. I wish that they gave us water during our meal (we asked, but it remains one of life's mysteries). Had to ask at the register again when I was paying because my grandma was actually in need of water. She liked her food, so that's what matters at the end of the day. Com Tam Thanh has a special place in my heart. My parents have been coming here since they were dating. It is my family's favorite com tam, or broken rice, restaurant. Broken rice is a beloved Vietnamese rice dish made from the broken rice grains, which was once the budget type of rice for the poor farmers, but now it is a delicacy that is enjoyed for the softness of its' textures. While deciding what to eat for lunch, my boyfriend mentioned wanting a rice dish. I knew exactly where to go. I had been missing Com Tam Thanh so it was perfect timing for our taste buds to align. This plaza has awful parking, but it's something I come to accept since I love the food here so much. Service is quick and straightforward, in a good way. The interior is spacious and there are plenty of tables. Com Tam with a porkchop or grilled pork is pretty basic. I was telling my boyfriend they master the Tau Hu Ky here. Their translation for that is a shrimp mousseline in tofu paper. They cut these ridges into it giving it more crispy surface area. I told him whichever dish he gets, I highly recommend one of the dishes that has Tau Hu Ky. My boyfriend ends up getting the #8 Com Tam Bi Cha Suon Tau Hu Ky ($17.75) which is the broken rice with julienne pork, steamed pork cake, bbq pork chop and shrimp mousseline in tofu paper. The #8 is one of their house specials and it is a larger portion than the other rice plates. I order my go-to #10 Com Tam Tau Hu Ky Thit Nuong ($14.75) which is the broken rice with shrimp mousseline in tofu paper and bbq pork. I also added a Fried Egg ($?). While we were waiting for our food, they brought out utensils, water, and the fish sauce and side of broth that comes with the rice dishes. The food came out pretty quickly. The server was teasing me how my boyfriend's order is bigger than my order, but I joked back that I can just steal from his plate. This meal really hit the spot for both of us. Every bite was incredible and there was a generous amount of protein and it perfectly compliments the broken rice. I was savoring the meal and I finished my whole plate. The #10 is perfect for me because I know I can finish it. If you have a healthy appetite, #4-8 are the bigger orders. You can also order any of these proteins a la carte too. Will definitely be back soon!! Cash Only! Just FYI for those who are not familiar with the area, there's a lot of cash only businesses down in this Little Saigon/Bolsa area, so I always make sure to have cash with me in the area.
This satisfied my craving for a good savory breakfast! Portions are massive you can probably share one between two people. Service and ambiance is very fast casual, after being sat it may take a while for them to come take your order but once it's placed food comes out right away! This place has the best cơm tấm in the world. No exaggerations. The meat is so tender and supple, the fresh meatloaf always comes out perfectly bouncy yet your teeth sinks right in, the shredded pork has the perfect amount of flavor without being salty. Not to mention their delicious "broken rice" that is always so fluffy and just 100099x better than normal jasmine rice. Nothing could ever beat this place, especially with such lovely staff members that are quick to assist you with all your needs.
Com tam is yummy. The cha (egg cake) is not as great since it does not have the wood-ear mushrooms, but the meats are tasty. I was very surprised that the won ton soup was good too. Spacious restaurant and service is good.

We visited Com Tam Thanh around 12:30 pm on a weekday and were seated and attended to right away. Our food came out really quickly too, so the whole experience was very efficient. I ordered the Com Tam Thit Nuong Cha Tau Hu Ky and really enjoyed everything on the plate. The portions were perfect, and even the soup served on the side was really tasty. What stood out to me most was the quality of the broken rice itself. It was noticeably good and really elevated the entire plate. The Thit Nuong, Cha, and Tau Hu Ky were all strong as well, so the meal felt consistently good rather than having just one standout component. Overall, this is easily one of the better Com Tam spots I've tried in the area. I really enjoyed my meal and will definitely be back! read more

Although the restaurant is known for its broken rice dishes, the menu also offers a wide range of other items like vermicelli items and soups. * Cơm Tấm Tàu Hủ Ky Bò Nướng Dồi: 9/10 - everything was freshly made and the portions were decently sized Be sure to bring cash because they don't accept cards or Apple Pay! The prices are a bit high, but the portions are a lot bigger than the other places I've been to. The interior is a bit small, but it is capable of fitting a decent number of tables and customers. The workers are always very nice, and the food comes out almost instantly. Know this broken rice BBQ pork over 25 years when their Parents business at Bolsa/ Harbor , and they moved to this big restaurant in this location. this was my favorite couldn't count how many times we checked in . Their service was ok , sometimes not that nice depends on that day , known out there some of my friends didn't like the service . This restaurant used to have a line out the door when I was last here before the pandemic. It's still busy but luckily no lines this time when we visited on a weekend for lunch. We were seated and our orders were taken within minutes. They are known for their Com tam (broken rice) dishes so that's what we ordered. Funny enough our food took awhile to come out. Portions were large and my pork chop was delicious. Very flavorful and still moist. I was a little disappointed in the Tau hu ky (shrimp mousseline). It was a little plain and oily. Came in on a rainy Thursday for lunch, place was a pack house, luckily got seated right away and I ordered right there also. I ordered com tam thit nuong tau hu ky lap xuong. The food came out less than 5 minutes. All I can say is the com tam was pretty basic and decent , the tau hu ky wasn't good, not that much shrimp in it, the thit nuong had good flavor but I didn't really taste the char or grilled flavor. Nothing too special, the best thing was the nuoc mam/ fish sauce. Oh yeah they charge $1 for using credit card. Parking can be tough also. Overall 3/5 rating for me, nothing special that would make me come back, especially with so many other Com tam in Oc. read more
I heard Thanh was the gold standard for com tam, so I was excited to finally have a chance to try it! I ordered the broken rice plate with BBQ pork, steampork cake, and fry bean curd. I also ordered egg rolls and a plate of cucumbers on the side. Everything was solid, though nothing stood out. My favorite dish was probably the egg rolls, but I think Golden Deli in SGV still wins. Second time trying this restaurant because everytime we go to the other com tam places there's a long wait. This one is also a full house but the wait isn't as bad. Taste wise the food is delicious. However the portions are tiny compared to other places. For $17, it's not worth it. Cashier is also pretty rude. We won't be back because there are so many others to try. read more
Don't you EVER let ANYONE tell you that Com Tam Thanh isn't the BEST com tam in California. I've been coming to Com Tam Thanh since I was a little boy. Nothing hits the same as Com Tam Thanh. I don't know what they put in their food, but I never get ngan. I will keep shoveling the rice in my mouth even if I am full. I can perfectly picture how each ingredient and topping taste in my mind. The scallion oil. The egg on top. The juicy grilled pork. Bi. Cha. Tau hu ky. The nuoc mam with just a hint of spice to it. The little crunchy bits of fried pork fat scattered throughout your plate. How every individual grain of rice feels on your tongue. It's perfect. I had it yesterday and the leftovers for lunch today and I STILL want to eat it again tomorrow. read more
This is a staple in my family. We keep coming back after trying so many meh broken rice places in Little Saigon. There's another popular spot where the wait is always 30+ min and the grilled pork rice plate isn't as good (way too sweet). The grilled pork here is seasoned perfectly. Not sure if they use honey or condensed milk, but the sweetness works really well with the rest of the seasoning. Always worth the 45 min drive from SGV. Service could be improved though. read more
I've been eating com tam here ever since I was little with my parents, and even to this day they serve the same great tasting com tam that I can remember. The food prices have slowly risen over the years, but it is still relatively cheap. The service is quick and simple, don't expect anything fancy but they get the job done. Food comes out quickly and really there is nothing to complain about. This place may have a bit of a wait, but it's well worth it. It looks like a good time to come would be after 2pm on the weekends. After a few years this place still has the best broken rice compared to other places. Bun mam was just ok . I should order rice instead. Our server was friendly and helpful. I ordered number 34 for takeout it didn't have the bi nor Chinese sausage as shown in the picture. Parking spot was tight and full at 2 pm.
