I was on my way to Northgate and realized that this place has been on my feed in my Instagram for a while. I saw a Bogo buy two get one free of the same item so I decided to stop by for their sandwich. The place is quite and small very clean looks pretty new. I got three of the same Combo sandwiches and the whole entire bill came out to be about $18 with tax. This makes it about six dollars each which isn't bad but it isn't great considering the size of the sandwich. It was fairly empty for the most part other than one customer and the employees are helpful. The portion size is smaller than most, but the meat and the flavor was on point. Buy 2 get 1 Free. They're $9.50 each. Three total Bahn Mi sandwiches for $19 plus tax. We got Pork Bahn Mi. The toppings were very light and extremely stingy. The thin scrawny cut meat didn't even cover the bottom of the bread. The meat was COLD. However, the bread was fresh, but who even cares at this point? We hated these sandwiches so much. I'm not sure what quality was like when they first opened, but this is garbage now. This is supposedly their flagship store. What a joke. Save your money and eat literally anywhere else. Boban? I feel bad giving a newish small business a low review but I've been here a few times now and my family members have been quite a few times as well. The first time I went I ordered the cold cut banh mi which wasn't bad, pretty good. Then another time I went back and ordered the beef and bbq pork one. Too dry, the beef one too salty, bread not fresh. Recently my brother visited for the first time, ordered something from the kiosk, waits for it for a while, nothing came out. He asks about it and the person was surprised saying they ran out of what he ordered. He got something else. Haha it was a confusing interaction. He was the only one there, Why wouldn't you tell him you're out of it instead of doing nothing?? According to the other recent reviews, they see to be having an issue with running out of items but still letting people pay for it. And clueless staff, etc. I know it's not malicious but they need to make some changes because every time we drive by... there's no customers. I was on a mission for a banh mi today and decided to swing by Boban for a scrambled egg banh mi. I was the only one inside and it took a sec to get it, but it was pretty good! Ive had some better banh mis and at cheaper prices, but this one is absolutely the prettiest and satisfied my craving. The drinks look so good, theyve got a great variety of fruit tea, matcha, coconut drinks, and coffees. What a cute place, decorated really well! Loads of parking on it's own dedicated lot. Finally got to try this bánh mì spot, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Their top seller is the steak au jus bánh mì, and I can see why. The beef was so savory and satisfying. The au jus was packed full of flavor and really took the sandwich to the next level. I'm a big fan of a classic pâté, and they had a really nice version. Solid banh mi's at reasonable prices -- Boban's where it's at! I'm a banh mi lover so whenever I see that spot offers banh mi's I've got to get it! I've tried their combo cha, roti chicken, and sweet chili tofu (no longer offered, so sad since it was bomb). The drinks here are good, too. The aesthetic inside is cute and gives japandi vibes, light colored wood and plants with plenty of sunshine. It's relaxing! Customer service here has always been friendly and welcoming. The young lady at the register just stood there scowling at everyone without saying a word. Getting the hint the group in front of me ordered at the self serve tablet. The brown sugar milk tea (choice of jasmine or black tea) look intimidating in a good way, it was so tasty and not as sweet as expected. Tapioca was warm and soft, not too much ice where the liquid ratio is overshadowed, and the tea is refreshing and not overly sweet. Adjustment appears can be made with less sugar and less ice. The au jus beef was hearty size could probably split into 2 meals or just have a happier belly. Baguette has a nice crunch, the beef was tender like a roast or short rib meat, not a lot of mayo added which I enjoy, and the pickle veggies cilantro and jalapeños (I removed) still provided nice heat crunch and acidity. Another new find brought to me by the food influencers of IG. Don't let the empty restaurant fool you. My fiance and I felt buyers remorse after ordering and waiting for our food; thinking we were fooled by another influencer. After taking the first bite, we were surprised at how good the Banh mis were. Five Spice pork - I typically don't like the taste of five spice, but the seasoning wasn't strong at all. It was their twist on Vietnamese thit nuong. Dac Biet - Also another hit. Good amount of pate and mayo but I wished they put more veggies. Overall, these are above average but also a little more expensive than I'm used to in the 626/714. Also note that there is little to no service based on how they operate. The workers didn't even greet us and just stayed back in the kitchen. When customers would stand at the counter, they would tell them to order using the kiosks behind them. 10/10 please go support this local business! Hidden off Ball/Valley View by the gas station. Minimal parking but enough to get by. This cute little place has gotten a much needed makeover from the previous restaurant that was there. The food is prepared quickly and it tastes great. The pho beef banh mi sandwich has beef with hoisin sauce drizzled on it. The au jus beef banh mi has no sauce but it is marinated well and tastes well seasoned. The chicken salad was delicious. I am new to the area and always seem to miss their operating hours. I was able to drop by a few weeks ago on my way home from work. Ordered a bbq pork bahn mi and it was a done deal, I was back 2 days later buying them for the family. The baguette is heavenly, crunchy outside soft inside, crunchy vegetables, tender pork with lots of flavor, I am truly not a mayo person but their house sauce seals the deal. This is a great bahn mi! The Thai tea here is delightful, one of the best I've had, no idea if they make it in house or not but I don't even care, the quality is good, not too sweet and tastes great.
