I recently came here for dinner with a girlfriend and was happily surprised by the quality of food and service. The Amerigo Vespucci (alcoholic beverage) was good for those who like tequila; it was light and refreshing. I had high hopes for the Whipped Burrata, but it was bitter, floral, and odd. I later realized it was the addition of lemon oil, so next time, I will ask for it without that, because everything else about it was delicious, including the fig jam! The Cavolini di Bruxelles (Brussels sprouts) was PERFECT - perhaps the best I have ever had! The Panzanella (salad) was good. The pasta with grilled chicken was the epitome of comfort food - so flavorful and enjoyable (I'm so bummed I forgot the name of the dish). The crostada dessert (I forgot the name of this dish too) was also comforting, delicious, and perfect for fall/winter, even though I'd eat it any time of year. Highly recommend! read more

Holy curse word! I asked one of my lovely Yelp Elite friends where we could go for a good happy hour. She immediately suggested Panzano and now I know why. The HH food menu is unlike anything I've ever seen, to be quite honest. Not only was it extensive, but the food was amazing. We were in a bit of a rush, but if we'd had more time I would have loved to try more items. I will certainly have to return and this will be my go-to suggestion next time someone asks for a great happy hour. read more

Really, truly delicious. The family went to Panzano last night to celebrate my sister's birthday. We went on a night where they had a 3 course meal deal, and a $15 option for 3 wine tastings. Half the table ordered this, and the other half off the regular menu. We started off with the fried brussel sprouts- which were AMAZING. How is it that people don't like sprouts? They were the perfect sweet/savory/smoky/fried/crunchy/ yummy combination. The delicious granny smith apple slices and pistachio bits really set off this dish. We also order the meat and cheese platter too, which was quite solid, but not phenomenal. Second course I had the cannelloni pasta with ham and truffle cream- this was amazing as well. The filling was perfectly seasoned and had a nice truffle flavor, I wanted to lick the cream sauce from the plate. :) Also amazing was the fresh baked bread and tapenade- I think we ended up eating 3 full baskets of bread! Yum! My mother had the wine paring option, and for $15, the 3 pours were a very good size, and she was happy with the selection. The service was spectacular. And I don't often say that. We went with one onion allergy in the mix, and not only did our waitress make pains to find out all the ingredients in the special, but she also worked with the chef to make the ordered dish onion-free. She was peppy, and helpful, and very well versed in the menu. The bus boys kept the water flowing exactly, and the kitchen even replated a dish that was served while one of the guests was in the restroom. Everything was the correct temperature, and we never were in want of anything. The reason why Panzano didn't get the 5th star was the agnolotti pasta and the awkward table spacing. The agnolotti- which was supposed to be the star of the 3-course pre-fixe fell a bit flat. The pasta sheets were unevenly cooked, the middle of the folds were still hard, past the desired al-dente phase. The filling was well seasoned, but the veal didn't seem to hold up to the amount of pasta. The demi-glace was well executed however, and together the dish was still palatable. The other issue is that the long seating table was right in the alley way of service, so we watched servers rushing past and bumping all night. It was a bit of a traffic jam for us to get out of the table as well. It would have been less hectic if there had been an extra 8 inches on room behind the seat and the half-wall where service was. The desserts were amazing too- the pre-fix panna cotta was the best I've had in town. The gelatin was perfectly bloomed, leaving the best texture and most decadent mouth-feel. The cherry compote was well balanced and complimented the rich custard. We also had tiramisu- which was good, but a tad sweet. And the hazelnut creme brulee, which was also good, but the crust was lacking crunch power. At the end of the meal my sister even got a certificate for a free dessert next visit as a birthday present- very classy! VERDICT: Classy and elegant, a very nice meal for a splurge. Foodgasm. This would be the second non-self-inflicted foodgasm I've experienced. I've been wanting to try Panzano for a few years, especially around 5280 time. It just never worked out before this year. In the five restaurants we went to this year, and all the times we ate out in the last year, this was by far the BEST service we'd had. Laurie was personable, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. We don't usually focus on asking for a specific server, but in going back, we would. She recommended this fabulous bottle of wine, an Amarone. I don't usually like reds all that much, particularly drier reds, but I could drink a bottle of this on my own. I think Laurie deserves a bottle. And, in giving her credit, I also have to say that everyone we encountered on their waitstaff was fabulous. But, on to the food. We love the pepperoncini bread, the honey walnut bread, and would bar jars of the tapenade, which was far less briney than many others. We tried the mushroom crepe and duck liver pate for our first course and disagree over which was better. I believe the ration of pate to compote to bread was perfect. The hibiscus vinegar reduction was outstanding and complemented the gorgonzola cheese in my Jewel salad. I was disappointed they were out of the rabbit for the confit. It was the entire reason we selected Panzano as a must this year. I still had the confit, only with chicken in it. It was excellent. The housemade gnocchi was fabulous - not grainy, soft but still with a slight bite, and held shape. The husband had the chicken, which was tender and juicy and everything on his plate complimented everything else. For dessert, we tried the chocolate pate, which was the perfect amount for such a rich, but delicious dessert. The star of the night, though, was the blood orange semifreddo. Light, airy, and perfect. I hope they consider making this have a regular appearance. read more

Went here for restaurant week, a time when many restaurants skimp or hold back on their best dishes. Our meal, and service, were top notch. Like everyone says, the brussel sprouts were one of the best things I've ever eaten (and alone worth the trip). We also had the mushroom crepe, pastiche and rabbit gnocchi. My only criticism was that there was barely any rabbit w/the gnocchi w/a disproportionate amount of mushrooms. Desserts were tiramisu and creme brulee, the two most cliche and ubiquitous restaurant desserts, but here they were delicate and delicious. We were literally stuffed when we left. We had a 100 dollar gift card so we decided to indulge ourselves! And we did. The service was professional and yet personable, and the atmosphere was sophisticated and well coordinated. The salt and pepper shakers matched the red picture frames, the red lining on the benches, the chandeliers, and probably many other things. My indulging meal consisted of, mainly, bunnies! The rabbit mousse was amazing; it was very rich with an exciting complex flavor, and with a lovely brightness from the cranberries. My entrée was a more solid form of bunnies; I had the rabbit gnocchi which was also delightfully complex. I only found one bunny bone. So, all in all, a successful meal! read more

The bread with ramoulade sauce was excellent. We both had Caesar salads which were better than at most restaurants. I don't recall what my wife had, but I had the eggplant. Having been to Panzano's many times I can completely relate to all the good and bad reviews. Personally I have never had a bad meal there but I have been less than impressed a few times...ie the veal is average. The service is completely random...some servers are the area's best and some I have no idea how they got a job there but I have never had it so bad to keep me away. To take out the variable of the good/bad server I now go sit at the bar. Jodi, who seems to work most nights, is amazing. I haven't had to tell her my drink order, or my friends, since the first time I ordered...she knows my favorites and will make a suggestion here or there. She is very personable and from what I can tell she has a lot of regulars who come just to see her. She is a joy. Now to the happy hour which everyone raves about. If you want to save A LOT of money but still sample their menu you have to go for happy hour. If there is a better selection of food for happy hour in Denver let me know because this is it. You don't get some throw away version of their dinner menu, you get a half portion for about 1/4 the cost. Also wine and beer are cheaper. I highly recommend trying them at happy hour, see if you like the food and if you do then go back for dinner, but sit at the bar. cheers read more

Living in the middle of everything downtown affords one to explore dining and happy hour options. Even better, downtown living at 1600 Glenarm offers 1-2 local happy hours at special deals for residents, but don't tell anyone! We had spoiled residents party for 25 at Panzanos this week in one small area of the eastside bar. Sarah the manager immediately made her presence and described the 7 appetizers our group would be experiencing along with the history of the building. As described by Laura B, those mushroom crepes were super tasty-ours were grilled for a few seconds and melted in your mouth. Calamari with aiola sauce was the best I had in Denver so far, and the global pizza with proscutto knocked off our socks. The bar area is simply impressive-servers know thier products with intense detail especially on preparation. Lots of options for happy hour plates for 3-4-5 $ -and $4-5 cocktails, margs were tasty. read more

I've heard so much about Panzano's happy hour and I finally got the chance to experience it myself. Truth be told, it does indeed live up to its expectations. Happy hour only takes place in the lounge area, which is thankfully large enough to accommodate all the business folks alike in their after work endeavors to get well fed and a bit tipsy. The atmosphere is enjoyable and the service was friendly and attentive. They offer up awesome local draft beers for $3 which is nothing special in comparison to the cocktail and food specials. Where Panzano's sets themselves apart from other happy hours is in their list of awesome specialty cocktails for just $5 include an array of concoctions that use premium liquor as opposed to your standard well options. I ended up with the Sicily which was a strong mixture of Maker's Mark, port, and bitters and my happy hour companion went with a dirty martini. Both drinks were favorably strong, and necessitated an array of food which fortunately were offered at just $4, $5, and $6. We're not talking about bar food like fried cheese balls and chips and salsa but rather fine dining food selections taken off their dinner menu. And being Panzano's dinner menu, options are pretty remarkable. We ended up sharing a plate of the calamari fritti which was more than substantial. My dining companion ordered a ravioli dish which looked amazing and I ended up with the capesante which is sea scallops with prosciutto and asparagus risotto. Incredibly rich, but probably the best thing you can eat for just $6. I was sold without a doubt on their happy hour. In regards to food and specialty drink options, I'd deem Panzano as the best happy hour in Denver. read more

What a great brunch! I met some ladies for Saturday brunch after our conference ended a week ago. The offer bottomless, flavored bellinis or mimosas for $9...not a bad deal if you don't have the spa to go to afterward. I love being spoiled and my friend who was the bride seemed to have everything backwards because she was spoiling me when in all actuality I should have been spoiling her. So against me will, I reluctantly had lunch at Panzano with my friend. (Hey a girl's still got to eat!). And OMG was it worth being forced to dine here. Not only are the wait staff very attentive, but the special pasta dish was to die for! Unfortunately, the portion size was a little on the small side, but that would truly be my only complaint! Fresh baked bread with a homemade pesto sauce was a nice touch and to make it even easier to dine here is that if you are staying at Hotel Monaco, they can charge it to your room...wow that was easy! This place has had the hell reviewed out of it. All of those four and five star reviews that rave about the service, quality, and price are dead on. We visited yesterday after a matinee at the Buell Theater. It was our first time. My wife had the sausage and three cheese ravioli, and I had a pair of grilled lamb t-bones in a cherry glaze with Tuscan barley on the side. She started with a mushroom and onion broth and I started with a grilled Caesar salad. We drank house wines from the bar menu - she had the chardonnay and I had the merlot. We skipped dessert. The food was delicious, the service outstanding, and we got out of there for about 20% less than we've paid for lesser quality at similar places. Heck, I even enjoyed the anchovies in my Ceasar, and I hate those salty little buggers! read more

Had dinner last night for the first time and the food and service were spot on! Will our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and all the specials. I had the braised bison special and my boyfriend ordered the bison spare ribs and polenta. Out of this world :) extremely happy with the fresh pasta and delicious polenta and even left with some to take home. The best part about this restaurant (besides the amazing food) is on the back of the menu. Practically 100% organic and locally sourced, almost all waste is recycled or added to their compost and they are very much aware of their carbon footprint and everything they do is to decrease it. I enjoyed the Rabbit Gnocci, and it was filling for what looked to be a small serving at first glance. However, I really couldn't have eaten anything more after dinner. Of course, I also enjoyed the prosciutto appetizer... The grilled salad... And a salted caramel dessert. It was quite the evening. There are so many Italian restaurants in Denver but Panzano seems to always stand out above the rest. Great place to go and eat some ethnic Italian dishes! Their bread and sauce that they present before the main course is delicious. I could eat it all day! The food is very good, the wait staff is friendly and accommodating, the prices are great, especially during happy hour (I can get a chicken marsala for $5!) . You will be transported to Italy! The wines there are great though. The negatives: they have just a few desserts and service is too slow, we waited forever for the food to arrive - a definite turn off for me! We came here for New Years Eve since it is located right next the the fireworks on the 16th Street Mall. They had a five course meal going on that night, however, we opted for ordering off the regular menu since we weren't that starving. We started with cocktails at the bar, where I got the R and R which was Grey Goose Vodka and Raspberry liqueur muddled with raspberries and rosemary, served on the rocks with a splash of soda. I opted for 3 more for the night since they were so delish! For dinner we ordered the butternut squash ravioli and the famous (or should be famous) Pastiche. Holy Moly! The best meal I have ever had period. The service was impeccable, friendly and gave fantastic recommendations- and for NYE, the prices were very reasonable. One of my favorite restaurants! Good is delicious, drinks are amazing, atmosphere is classy but at the same time cool with modern music. For appetizers, brussel sprouts are absolutely a must! During the weekends they do bottomless mimosas in all kinds of flavors: pear, grapefruit, orange, cranberry, peach, etc. pizzas are delicious too, and their main dishes are really good as well. Awesome meal. Again, went out with a large group from work on a business trip and no one left this place unhappy or hungry. Delicious breads served warm as you're waiting, interesting soups (eggplant!) and great entrees. I kept hearing tons of good words about the Pastiche (pasta with spicy meatballs, cheese tortellini and ragu with cinnamon) but I had to go for the Melanzane Fritte (fried eggplant - perfect, though I'm no fan of goat cheese and picked it off). We went with a group of 6 for restaurant week. Our server was busy most of the time with another group he deemed "high maintenance." As such, we didn't ever get options for a second glass of wine, so I'd say the service wasn't good... but at least he apologized and acknowledged his absence throughout our meal. The food was simply okay. My appetizer was good, my salad was bland, my entree was horrible... sad looking, overcooked chicken marsala, and my dessert (a lemon cake) was small, but good. So I come here for the best happy hour in Denver on a regular basis as I work down the street but I have never had dinner here and I was looking to take my parents out for a nice dinner all of my top choices were already fully committed with reservations (Saturday night at 7pm). I didn't want to risk going somewhere I hadn't tried before and wanted something that was fairly conservative with the menu choices for the folks. So after much deliberation, I thought I would try this old standby thinking even though it's not a new restaurant they would deliver on the food. I was wrong while it wasn't all bad it wasn't good either. Our bill came to $224. We ordered 4 drinks... they have awesome bartenders who know how to make a stiff drink. We also ordered the Melanzane Fritte it's ok and the eggplant was perfectly prepared as I had remembered, but it's not something it's not something I crave to eat again. My dad who regularly dines at 5 star steak restaurants and is pretty picky ordered the Bistecca alla Griglia, he asked several questions on how the steak was prepared and how many ounces etc. He was told it was a bone in 12 ounces and came with drizzle of pesto sauce, this description was poor. We all laughed when he received his dish with little triangles of steak on a plain plate of mashed potatoes. It was so sad what they did to that poor steak and tasted just ok. I don't even want to discuss the price. Most people who order a bone in want it left on the bone unless maybe you are at the cheesecake factory and then I expect this. Here is what really gets my blood boiling! The other dish we ordered carbonara was not a carbonara. It was bucatini tossed in JUST garlicky olive oil that collected in a pool at the bottom of the plate, with a super sad and teeny over done whole fried egg. Gross. This is where I become very bewildered with confusion. Was this intentional? Surely Panzano an Italian establishment of 10 years knows that a carbonara is made by coating pasta in a rich, creamy sauce of eggs, cheese, and pork.... right?? Literally it was sent out in a broth of oil, and oil. I should have know that this place is only good for business meals where it's not a big deal to drop $200 on a mediocre meal that can be expensed later, and of course happy hours which is a whole different menu. read more

I ordered a hot chocolate and the waitress tempted me by saying would you like A BIT of baileys in that I replied sure. She brought me a hot chocolate in a small 3 oz glass cup. I asked my husband to taste it because the Baileys was less than a quarter of an ounce, they then proceeded to charge me 13 dollars for a hot chocolate with a splash of baileys in a 3 oz cup. The waitress said there was 2 oz of baileys in the cup and that they made the hot chocolate from real chocolate in house and the whipping cream. The fact is they did not give me 2 ounces but they charged me for 2 ounces of baileys. Total ripoff I will never go there again. After wandering around Denver and trying to find a breakfast spot, we stumbled into Panzano on our third try. Third times the charm! Katie the manager and our waiter David were amazing from beginning to end. The service was truly incredible and topped with delicious food. I can't rave enough about this place. Brunch was fantastic so I can only imagine how delicious the food would be for lunch and dinner. My dad said it was the best omelette he has ever had in his whole life.
