When it comes to fast food Chinese, I have ALWAYS been a huge fan of Panda. This is the only location in the Raleigh area, which sucks because i live in Garner. If you come here and don't get AT LEAST one helping of orange chicken, you should leave and come back in and try again. Orange chicken put this place on the map, and it's by far still the best thing they offer. I would suggest a two entry meal, BOTH ORANGE CHICKEN, and white rice... Throw in so Mt. Dew, and you got the best meal around! Tip: Keep your receipt because they usually offer free food if you fill out a survey, and God know's you will be back, so it's worth the 3 minutes it takes to save a few bucks. read more

I just went thru the drive thru and realized I didn't have my wallet. And as I was counting out the change in my car and realized I wasn't too bad off. I had $2.75 and was still finding nickels and a few dimes. The nicest person behind the intercom says... "go ahead and pull around, I got you"... I didn't get their names but the 2 young ladies behind the drivethru window couldn't have been nicer. They deserve a huge hug and big bonus. I'm a Panda Express patron from now on. I had picked up some dinner for the kids and spent $15, but when I looked st the receipt - it showed my regular water ("not bottled water").... and they charged me!! I've been coming to this location for about five years. It's never been five star but usually serviceable and I have a weakness for it every few months. Today I went and every time I said something they were out of it. No honey sesame chicken, no rangoons (for the last five months, which the person said as if I should know that), no sweet and sour sauce, and no STRAWS. The menu was not labelled with any of these missing items. And then I got my bag home and they had left out my spring rolls, which I did pay for. Likely all due to supply chain issues and overworked underpaid staff but this was the worst experience I've had here, and the employees seem totally burnt out of expressing any sympathy about half their menu being out of stock. read more

The last three times I've gone to Panda Express for dinner, they have been "out" of several entree options well before closing time with no plans to make more. Then, inevitably always end up asking me to pull around and wait for them to bring my order out. I end up spending 10-20 minutes waiting anyway! Anyone else experiencing this with them? What a terrible experience I had tonight at Panda Express. I waited for 4 cars ahead of me to put in their order. When it was my turn the employee said please hold. I did. When she came back and I ordered the Family Feast she said "hold on." Okay. Then a young man came on the intercom and said I had to order the family feast online. I was not allowed to order it at the drive through. So I said thank you and I drove off, without any food. I then called the manager, who said I could order a family feast as long as I didn't order more than two. I said, what? I only wanted one, so why couldn't I have ordered it? We stopped in once and were immediately offered a samples from the holding trays that they serve from. The food was lukewarm at best. No way it was at least 140 degrees (think food safety). We immediately left the restaurant. I'm sure they've been inspected and this might have been a fluke experience, but my wife was pregnant at the time so there was no risking it. I've been in NC for about 2.5 years now and just accepted that a lot of my favorite chain spots don't exist over here, so I was stunned when I saw a Panda Express right in Apex! This one seems on par with other panda locations I've been to with the exception of it's not as busy as the locations I used to go to in California. This translates into not as much turn over in items, so sometimes they do sit out a little longer. The orange chicken is probably one of the most popular items though, so I'd guess this would get the most frequent "fresh" turn-around out of the kitchen. My kiddo loved the honey walnut shrimp she had here, and requested returning to PE for a few days after we stopped in because she loved it so much. It's much cheaper than getting shrimp at a dim sum house or a Japanese restaurant, and the quality is fine. I was a little disappointed that they don't have bubble tea here even though the website says many locations have it (alright, a lot disappointed because I love bubble tea, but I kind of figured they wouldn't have it here). The establishment is well-maintained and clean. The employees seemed friendly and were helpful as well. Definitely A-OK, and we'll probably be back for more orange chicken...and shrimp ;) read more

I took chicken egg rolls as a substitute which would've been fine except for the puddle of oil they were sitting in. As far as Chinese-ish/esque fast-food goes, I AM a fan of Panda, Yay! I suppose I'm a fan because when I eat at a Panda, it is almost always exactly the same as any other Panda that I have been to whether in San Jose, CA or in Apex, NC, I know what I'm about to be served which is usually: A two (2) item plate - half fried rice, half noodles, teriyaki chicken & either broccoli beef or orange chicken. Occasionally I will try a different dish. At this particular Panda in Apex the other day, I was surprised to see "bacon-covered orange chicken". Is this a local NC thing or did they go global with this new dish I wonder? Either way, meee thinks not! Oh, I forgot to mention the best part about Panda, ...their Chili Sauce! Ask for several packs, tear on the dotted line in the corner and squeeze them all out onto your fried rice if you dare! Finally, before departing, crack your fortune cookie and read what will certainly be coming to you. Tip: Add the words, "...in bed." to the end of your fortune for a fun twist on an authentic Chinese tradition, that is the fortune cookie! read more

Decent fast food Chinese that is comparable to something you might get in a mall food court. I have had their beef and broccoli, orange chicken, golden shrimp, and egg roll. I didn't care for their egg rolls, but everything else is ok. They give you a ton of rice to go along with your meal. You can get 2 entrees, rice, egg roll and a drink for around $10, so a pretty good deal. Very fast service and they even have a drive through. This is definitely America meets China, and since we are in America, probably 2/3 American and 1 quarter Chinese. read more

Currently the 2.5 star-rating this place has is pretty much aligned with my assessment. I love the fresh vegetable containers they have displayed inside the shop and all, and the service inside and to-go is pretty good. But I just don't feel like I am getting quality food when the product is delivered to me, especially for what I am paying. Simple as that. I expect a little more quality than what the local Chinese place is offering for 75% of the price; but I am not seeing it. UPDATE: Raising to 3.7 stars, rounded up to 4. The food is pretty good when it is hot. Guaranteeing that your food will be hot, you have to request that your order is freshly made. The only side item that is mostly hot is the white rice being that it is covering majority of the time unlike the other items that are completely uncovered. The staff is is OK depending on who is the manager that is on duty. They seem to get offended when you tell them that your food is cold. I wish I could give no stars! I live a bit away from Panda therefore I don't eat there as often as I like. Recently I haven't been able to eat there AT ALL and I have tried! Last Wednesday I decide to make the trek to Apex for some delicious Panda. After the long drive, I walk up to the door to see a sign at 4pm on a Wednesday that they are closed for maintenance. There are workers behind the counter and the doors are open but no Panda. Toss that up to bad timing right?!?! So tonight that hankering for Panda rises it's head. I think I'll take the drive cause it'll be worth it. I get there at 8:10pm, I understand they close at 9pm. Low and behold, there was NOTHING to get. There was a very small amount of Beijing bed that I paid full price for and some other stuff but no chicken dishes!!!! Chinese places coat a lot of things in corn starch and flour. I get it. I'd prefer thin coating but realize coating is cheap so it's invariably too thick. But dang it, it's supposed to be crispy, right? That's why it's deep fried. Panda Express manages to turn their coating into a 1/4" layer of soggy paste. Being generous with the 4th star, and that's only because of an employee. On a Sunday early afternoon, me and my friends arrived. We walk ove to the line & wait to be served. It was as if they did not have enough people working. Drive thru & front line doing the best that they could. Items were out of stock or being cooked. We waited as new rice & Orange chicken were restocked. Thankfully we were able to have hot & fresh food when we sat down. No bottled drinks available, there was a box of fork in the way on the drink station. Also thankfully the dinning area was clean. The main reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because of the manager. It was if he didn't want to help his clearly under staffed coworkers. I went back up to buy more fortune cookies, & he stood by the drink station on his phone. I waited at least 3 mins for him to come over while his coworkers were finishing up cleaning & prep work for a afternoon rush. It was then a employee stopped his prep work & came over & helped me check out. My thoughts on how to improve this place would be to make sure management & staff are working equally.
