I'd just about given up ever eating KFC anymore as most locations in the Triangle are horrible, food wise and the condition of the restaurant. Yesterday was my last attempt at trying another location. So first time visiting here and happy to say even the Colonel would be proud rather than spinning in his grave as he must with the other locations! Take out and the drive thru was steady as was the eat in orders. The dining area is bright and well taken care with employees regularly cleaning tables and sweeping the floor as needed. I even saw one help an elderly lady with a cane to the bathroom door. Now that's some kind service! When taking our food order, which we modified some from the menu, the cashier took time to make she understood us correctly, which we really appreciated. It came up in no time and was prepared and tasted as one would expect KFC should. Every once in a while you get a hankering for some KFC. I grew up eating KFC and every time I eat it it brings back those memories. We got our meal TO GO. The young man behind the counter was helpful in what I finally decided to order. We got a 10 piece bucket (half original - half extra crispy). Our deal came with 3 sides and 4 biscuits. For sides we got mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac & cheese and cole slaw. Honestly , all of the food was delicious with the EXCEPTION OF THE BISCUITS. The biscuits were awful !!!! Here are the highlights of our experience: Pros: a) Located right off of 64 and near a Home Depot. b) Very clean upon entering. c) The bathroom was stocked with paper. d) They were cooking the fried chicken in small batches, and we could literally hear the beeping, and quickly saw it carried from the fry area to the viewing cabinet. The smells were pleasant. e) They offer green beans. I highlight this, because even Smithfield doesn't have them on their menu. f) We received a friendly greeting upon entering, and leaving. g) Plenty of parking. h) They offer to go plates at no additional charge. i) The service was friendly, and despite our complicated order, they put it together fairly quickly. Cons: a) The menu board has changed substantially since our last visit. Then again, it's been many years since we've been inside. b) This once had an AW concept tied to it. I just wanted to write you to let you know how your brand is being portrayed. Now, let me start off by saying I love fried chicken and KFC is right by my house. Tonight I planned on swinging by KFC on my way home from work and relaxing in the dining room. I just wanted to unwind and enjoy the great flavor of your hot chicken. When I pulled up, I noticed a few cars in the lot and was excited because that usually means a good rotation on product. By the way, I was in my truck pulling a trailer so I couldn't go through the drive thru. I parked and went up to the door that I just observed an employee entering after giving a "pick up" car their order. When I attempted to enter, the doors were locked. I tried the other door and it was locked as well. One of the employees motioned me to go around to the drive thru and then walked away. I knocked on the door to try and get someone's attention. I didn't receive a response from any of them. In looking into the kitchen, I noticed at least four employees, one drive thru, two on the line, and a manager. I tried to open the doors again in an attempt to have someone hear me because the knocking didn't seem to work. The manager then peered under the equipment to look at me, but still didn't offer me any resolution. The same employee came to the POS counter and again motioned for me to go to the drive thru while chewing on something. I tried to tell him I had a trailer and that was not feasible. I decided to walk around to the drive thru to at least talk to someone. A girl opened the window but didn't say anything. I informed her that I had a trailer and I could not utilize the drive thru. She then went into the managers office to tell the manager. The manager came out and said that they didn't have enough employees to open the dining room. She said she only had two but I told her that I noticed at least four people. She said that still was not enough. Now, this is a Friday night around 7pm. I was really surprised that they would not staff for such a busy evening. The girl working the window said that she would take my order and they would bring it out to me. Not really what I was looking for but I was thankful for the compromise. I ordered a ten piece with dark meat and to split it. She gave me a total without asking if I wanted anything else. I did in fact want a large root beer which she then added. She gave me my soda and I paid and went back to my truck. This was about 7:11. At 7:16 the original male employee brought my food out in a bag with the bucket looking like it was half way out. I asked if it was split. He said I didn't know you wanted crispy as well. I also asked if he had my receipt and he said no. I also asked if I could get a refill on my soda. He informed me that I would have to go back to the drive thru window to get that. I said that you have to go back inside to change out my chicken, why can't you refill my drink. He said nothing as he walked away. I said "Excuse me?", "Hello?" He totally ignored me and went back inside. He came back out in about two minutes and said that they were out of crispy that is why they didn't include that. I am now a little confused because originally he said that he didn't know that I wanted original AND crispy. I asked how long it would be before the crispy would be done. He said it would be a minute. Now, I am thinking if it was a minute, why didn't he just wait inside. I asked him is it actually a minute or will it be longer. He replied it would be 25 or 30. I said 25 or 30 what? He said 25 or 30 minutes. I said I'm sorry but that will not work. Could I please just get a refund then? He said this original just came out, you don't want it? I said no, I need it to be both. The manager then came out about 4 minutes later with my refund. She apologized and handed my cash back. As I looked at the change, I noticed that my coupon was not included. I asked her where that was. She said "She didn't give it back to you?" She, I been dealing with a male this whole time and you were there when the girl took my order. She went back into the store and came back with my coupon. We both said have a good evening and went our separate ways. I was really looking forward to having that chicken for my dinner. I was not expecting the dining room to be open. I was surprised that the employee bringing my food was so rude. I do not understand why the dining room was closed. Maybe they had call outs. Maybe that is a way to reduce payroll. According to the hours decal on the doors, they are open till 10 and the other decal said they were open for drive thru, mobile orders, take out, and dine in. I do not know if this is a franchise, but I was appalled and the service that I received. Any business, either corporate or franchise, should follow the same procedures and the customer shouldn't even notice the difference. If I were concerned about my brand, I would definitely look into this stores operation. read more

This is not an indictment against KFC's food. It is what it is and it was not any different than you'd get elsewhere. This is more about this specific location. I went in at lunchtime and was greeted by an empty counter. I was curious to see how long I would be ignored, so I just waited in silence. The answer is "about a minute". Manager saw me and told staff to wait on me. I have nothing but empathy for this managers here. I can only imagine how difficult it is to deal with at-or-close to minimum wage staff. The issue here is staffing - from the dull-eyed teenager waiting on me and the people milling around in back acted as if they were darted with elephant tranquilizers. They shuffled around with sluggish movements and general disinterest. I ordered one thing to dine in. They made a small mistake by making it to go. Not a big deal by itself. But it seems - cumulative with the other comments made here - that staff here is not very good. They are slow, disinterested, and not attentive to details. And, to boot, despite there being only one other customer in the place -- half the tables were dirty. *sigh* I see absolutely no reason for anybody to go here. I recommend Smithfield's Chicken & BBQ just up 55 at Davis Drive and Morrisville Carpenter. KFC manager, you should take a trip out there and see how these managers motivate from the front to make their staff absolutely the best of the best in fast food. read more

I received an email with my order confirmation and pulled up to the drive through because the doors were locked. When I reached the window they said that they haven't received my order so the guy working the window went to get the manager. We tried show the manager the order confirmation and she refused to look at it then proceeded to close the window in my face while I was talking.
