My husband and I had not been here in awhile. We were really looking forward to eating here, but just had horrible service today (3/11/19). The food was good, but a combination of the service and the food just made me really disappointed! I was extremely annoyed, but kept my cool. It first started off with me ordering coffee. I asked our waitress about the caffeine content of the coffee. After she explained that the macchiato had 4 ounces of milk and the rest espresso shots and then a pour of coffee, I decided on that one. When the barista brought the coffee to the table, it was basically in an espresso shot cup. I wanted more coffee than that. So then he apologized that it was not correctly communicated with me and said he knows exactly how I want my coffee and then walked away. He brought a beautiful and larger cup of coffee, but as he walked away, he said caramel macchiato. I remember him talking about how Starbucks messed up the macchiato, because people think it is a large drink when it is not. The problem was, I never order my drinks with a sweetener and especially not my coffee and definitely not any syrups! I drink unsweetened iced tea! Lol. It was SOOOO sweet of him for being so creative and he definitely makes great coffee, but he should have asked if I wanted caramel in my coffee before assuming. He then made me a fresh caffe latte with coconut milk and I loved it! He redeemed himself. Now for our waitress (same one who did not explain the macchiato correctly). I ordered the perfect omelette, but with egg whites and a side of grits. She brought two omelette, one for my husband and one for me with the yolk. (This is after the coffee incident, so I was a bit annoyed). So then they take about 7- 9 mins to bring my egg white omelette. They do a beautiful job with making a French style omelette. It is just perfect. Mind you, right after we placed our order, I let her know to PLEASE make sure our food is very hot. Now my grits are cold and I don't want to tell her, but my hubs is annoyed when I was going to try and deal with cold grits. At this point I know she thought I was being difficult, but none of what happened today was my fault. Other then not knowing the macchiato was basically an espresso shot. She seemed like she could not wait to get away from our table, but what she did not realize is that she could have prevented everything wrong from happening. She needs to learn better communication skills with her customers. So it is truly her that made our experience not great. Was the food and coffee delicious?! Yes! The biscuits are bomb! This is some of the best breakfast I have ever had in my life!!!! The server could not have been sweeter, accommodating, and meticulous with how I want everything cooked from the bacon all the way down to the eggs! The food came out amazing! I highly recommend the biscuit, the preserves melt in your mouth and are homemade!! The hash brown bomb bursts with flavor and the eggs are cooked just right! If I could give 0 stars, I would. This is a rare occasion for me as you see I typically leave very positive and constructive reviews, even for experiences that are not ideal or what I expected. I was so disappointed by my experience here that I blatantly will advise people to NOT come here from here on out. This experience was so terrible that I feel the need to not let anyone else waste their time or money as I did. This is a long review but if you get enjoyment from hearing restaurant horror stories, read on, because this on fits the bill. So I come in here on a week day. I had an hour lunch break to catch up with my sister from out of town and introduce her to my boyfriend. Should be easy, right? Wrong. We walked in and wandered around the seating area searching for someone, ANYONE, to recognize we were there and needed a table. The place was relatively empty so I never imagined that would be a hard task. Honestly regret not just walking out at that point. We finally had someone seat us and we informed him we were in a time crunch. He ignored this and didn't take our order for 20 minutes despite us trying to signal him and get his attention. I asked for recommendations and was told all of the items i was considering were "not that good". Hm. I settled on the patty melt, my bf got the brisket hash and my sister got the basil chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich came 20 min after ordering (again, i was on a time crunch), the burger 10 after that and the hash TWENTY after that. And after all that wait... The hash was flavorless. Honestly have had better quality meals from the frozen aisle of the grocery store. My sister seemed to enjoy her sandwich. My burger was doused in onions and mustard. No where on the menu did It mention mustard. And I never would've imagined a whole onions worth of slimy, burnt onions when they mentioned "caramelized" onions on the menu description of the burger. And just when we thought It couldn't get worse I found a BALL OF HAIR in my food. Not a single strand but a CLUMP of scraggly, greasy hair. As if the food wasn't greasy enough already!! At this point I immediately told my server, who had been rude and absent for our entire time there. He picked up the plate silently and CRASHED through the kitchen doors. Behind them we heard him SLAM the glass plate into the trash and curse. I have never been so mortified. I planned to eat the food that didn't appear to be contaminated but that option wasn't given to me. We didn't see him for a few more minutes. He finally comes out and says "wait, do you want to see the menu again or something?" You honestly can't make this stuff up. I politely told him that as I had informed him at the beginning of our time here, I was in a time crunch and wouldn't have another HOUR to burn by waiting around for the slow kitchen to prepare another meal that didn't taste good let alone justify the price tag. He huffed and puffed and immediately came back with my check. No apology, no comped meal... just my lunch sitting in the trash half eaten behind the closed kitchen doors. I was baffled. I paid my bill and left hungry and $16 dollars poorer for something I didn't even get to eat. This is the worst experience I have had anywhere in my life. Avoid at all costs. read more

Solid brunch spot! The parking can be tricky but the food is delicious! I got a mushroom biscuit with the perfect amount of gravy. I am a Hilton Gold customer and am always impressed with Hilton's service, but OverEasy was an exception. I had a business meeting at OverEasy today with a guest visiting from Hong Kong. So many things went wrong, it's hard to decide where to start. I ordered Eggs with sausage, toast and coffee. The sausage never came. The waitress was nowhere to be found. Finally I asked another waitress, who brought the juices we had waited for until after our food arrived, for my sausage. Sausage still never came. Our original waitress returned 5 minutes later and I asked for the sausage, and again for the cream that I had asked for when the coffee had arrived 10 minutes before. Another 5 minutes later the sausage came. My toast wasn't buttered, and there wasn't any brought with it or on the table. Again 5 minutes later she came back and I asked for the butter. The original coffee that was poured wasn't hot. Neither was the refill. The waitress was so scarce that I never got to ask for a fresh hot cup, which I would have if I could have. It was my besties birthday and we had celebrated the whole weekend, so OverEasy was our last get together before going home & getting some rest. It was super cute, everyone loved the ambiance and aesthetics of the hotel. If it's not raining or too hot definitely head for drinks at the rooftop pool bar upstairs! Food was amazing, everyone got something different and no one was disappointed. SERVICE IS IMPECCABLE! I've been here multiple times & it's always amazing! Even if the servers isn't yours you'll be taken care of. Anytime a family member or friend is visiting Dallas this is where I take them, good food, great coffee, & good service! We went to Overeasy for breakfast. We set the reservation a week ago. Was very excited to try it out. It started out good. Not a huge menu, but good options. But, I had ordered an side of sausage with my meal, and it basically came out when I had already finished my main meal. And had to ask twice. They didn't charge me for it, so that was nice. Then they they didn't ask how we wanted our checks split. Just brought us our bill without asking if wanted anything else or if we wanted one check or 2. Felt rushed to leave. And then came and basically just tossed the checks on the table after we had them separate it. The servers and team seemed very disorganized and overwhelmed. They were not nice or apologetic for they're lack of service. I've been a waitress before and a huge foodie. And I understand being in the weeds. But, one thing with being on both sides with dealing with customers and being one is having a good personality, communicating, and being nice. It does wonders. It's not even that big of a place. I understand that it's newer and kinks need to be worked out, but still be polite. It's a beautiful hotel, and I these complaints are on the businesses associated with it (valet and restaurant)not necessarily the hotel. Hope they work it out. The good: cute cafe; decent food. The bad: parking; pricy. You don't get a lot for what you pay for. Maybe I'm spoiled by other brunch places, but typically an entry would come with some sides (veggies, hash, fruits, etc.) Not here. A $9 honey ham biscuit comes with 2 biscuit halves with ham and egg on it, that's it. and all sides are expensive (a farm egg for $4? 5 deviled eggs for $10? Does that hen feed on caviar?) The ugly: service. The host does not acknowledge us, and waiter disappeared after he got us water. When he took our orders he'd interrupt us midstence. I'm not asking him to be my BFF or the bridesmaid at my wedding, but he's just downright rude and unfriendly. After we're done we had to walk to the server station to request a check as we waited for 20minutes for our waiter to check on us, which he didn't, and then we were proceeded being ignored by multiple waiters (2 of us were waving, making big movements, even other guests saw us) Overall very inattentive and unfriendly experience that makes me not wanting to go back or recommend this place to others. read more

I've never been more annoyed at brunch in my life. I threw a surprise bday brunch for our friend there this past Sunday. I made a reservation the weekend before For noon for 10 people. My husband and I show up at 1153 and are told there's a 45 min wait. No big deal. We have a reservation. Except they don't seat us until 1235. What was the point in even having a reservation? And no one, literally no one, seemed even the smallest bit concerned. My friend got there and we had to be like surprise and the table isn't ready - sorry! The hostess repeatedly forgot who we were. They have a relatively large waiting area. We asked if we could just eat out there, they would not let this happen. You aren't able to order alcohol until you get sat at your table, so we just sat there. No one offered to bring us anything while we waited. No one offered to comp anything. Nothing. The waitress did the best she could, not her fault, but we still didn't have drinks until almost 1pm and no food at all until 120. Some people didn't have theirs until 130. We asked for our apps to be brought out first - nope, all brought at the same time. The deviled egg flight might as well just be called deviled eggs - all of the eggs taste the exact same except for one. The green Bloody Mary might be the most disgusting drink I've ever had. If they served it with chips it might serve as a good salsa. As a drink, it's barely drinkable. The grilled cheese was dripping with some type of sweet sticky substance. All of the food was super mediocre. I know that all restaurants make mistakes so I called them today to speak to the manager to see if there was something that could be done to make the situation right. She told me thanks for letting me know. That's all. Thanks. So basically this restaurant is a cool concept and I like what they're doing in downtown, but I would be shocked if this place stayed open. With restaurants a dime a dozen in dallas, if you have bad service and don't make it right, people won't go there any longer. read more

Didn't even say we could seat you get you some coffee, Just said we could walk around (in the 40 deg weather) until your table was ready. I am all about customer service and this place seems to be a snobby fu fu place that will not last. Definitely was over priced for the service you get. This was my 4th time eating at Overeasy and to be sure my last! When they first opened it was awesome. I recommended it to all my friends but over time, Overeasy has deteriorated, both in food and service. This recent visit, I found the restaurant temperature uncomfortably hot. I kept the menu to fan myself. I ordered the "The Easy Living", 2eggs, bacon, 2 hash bombs, and toast all for $12, so said the menu. My server failed to tell me there was a price change to $14 and that they no longer serve hash bombs, only soggy hash browns. This misinformation can also be seen on their website. I had the opportunity to talk to the restaurant manager about my displeasure, which was met with blasé demeanor. If you'er local or just visiting and looking for a good brunch, Dallas has many great restaurants, just not Overeasy. EJN read more

We had such a good experience here while staying at the Statler. I can't wait to go back and have another Monroe (their take on the mimosa) and try more of their food options. Their biscuits and gravy and sausage are so tasty! I had the chicken biscuits, but had to take some gravy from another plate, but still so good (just order a side of gravy with it). Our waitress was fantastic as well. I am baffled by the reviews of slow service and wait times, but we were here at lunch time on a Monday. 2 of us, and we were seated right away and our food and drinks came out quickly. read more

Located inside the Statler hotel, this little restaurant is cute for brunch and catching up with friends. Seating is limited however, since it's a small cafe. The wait was around 30 minutes or so. I ordered the eggs sausage and toast. My friends got the deviled eggs and avocado toast. Honestly the quality and flavor was just ok. The sausage wasn't great imo, it tasted like dry paper tbh. This was the best lunch I've had in Dallas hands down. I lived here for 5 years and just came back to visit and was completely blown away. We ordered the patty melt and the grilled cheese. Everything we ordered was full of flavor. The bacon jam on the patty melt was out of this world. And the chunky tomato soup with the grilled cheese was a highlight too for sure. Over Easy lived up to the hype! I've been wanting to stop in here for breakfast but today we ordered lunch. Aesthetically, Over Easy is right up my alley: a little bit retro, a little bit glam and all good vibes. The Deviled Egg Sampler and the Sunny Side Margarita were enjoyed by all in our party, but we weren't as crazy about the new take on the bloody mary. The pesto chicken sandwich was far better than I imagined with warm, tender chicken breast on lightly toasted bread. Considering that this place is one block from my house and features a walk up counter, I was over the moon that my Americano didn't have that acidic, Starbucksy taste. I waited (no line) standing in front of the counter and not a single person acknowledged me, so I left. Since I live downtown I decided to give it a second chance this morning.
