The atmosphere at Overeasy was great! We had a nice causal brunch. I had the grilled cheeses with tomato soup and it was amazing. My girlfriend found a picture on Yelp of something that was no longer listed on the menu and the kitchen was willing to still make it for her. Only complaint was our forgetful waitress... brought the coffee but didn't bring any cream, brought Bloody Mary but no straw, brought food but no silverware. My boyfriend and I have been here at least 3 times as it is within walking distance from our condo downtown. Each time our service has been pretty on point and we always sit at the bar looking over the kitchen which is quite nice. We have had the pancakes, ham biscuits, sausage biscuit and gravy, grits, eggs, and the potato bombs. Our first visit my boyfriends sausage was undercooked and they fixed it immediately no questions asked. We are not fans of the sausage as it had a lot of sage in it, but overall others may enjoy it. Their lemonade is fantastic and the pancakes are huge. Gravy is fantastic. Their menu is nice because several breakfast items are available all day and the rest of the menu available starting at 11am. We can tell that the menu items do change a little in taste when the head chef isn't there, but overall pretty consistent and good. It's nice to have another non McDonald's breakfast option downtown. read more

Came here for breakfast and I can not recommend the biscuits with the homemade preserves and butter enough! Their biscuits are phenomenal- certainly the best in dallas. We had the deviled eggs flight as an appetizer- definitely try this if you are a fan of deviled eggs. Oh this was so good! Located inside the statler hotel, I didn't have to wait long for a table. They sat me at what I assumed was kind of a community which was pretty cool. I ordered the eggs Benedict with ham, the hash bombs and a small side of jam for the breading of the eggs Benedict. All in all it was pretty good, even the hot chocolate. The omelet here was perhaps one of the best that I've ever had - perfectly fluffy and not overpowered by the parmesan and chives. The avocado toast was also very solid with micro-greens and black radishes. Iced tea and cold brew were standard issue. The service however (from beginning to end) was completely inefficient. The host and hostess seemed barely trained in the electronic seating system. We waited while several tables remained uncleaned and empty for around 20 minutes. The waitress forgot our drink order. The bus lady kept dropping and breaking dishes. They wouldn't seat us outside even though it was a nice day, there were empty tables, and a long wait. Once seated, the Saturday morning crowd was loud and obnoxious. A surprise birthday party next to us and the people wouldn't sit down, they just kept hovering behind us the whole breakfast. Another table was a group of women from a conference and they trashed the place. They could benefit from some sound panels on the ceiling. My advice is to get a coffee and pastry and eat in the park across the street. read more

That being said after our first experience of dine in with Derek I only ordered room service or carry out from that point on. He lacked any knowledge of the restaurant, as if he walked in off the street that day to work there. He forgot everything we asked for and did not do anything in a timely manner. He was unapologetic and condescending. One day I called to ask if the brisket hash could be made vegetarian. The person who answered asked their manager who I overheard say "Vegetarian? I don't know why anyone would want it vegetarian its just vegetables and eggs." HUH? Come on, lady. I had great interactions w/everyone behind the coffee counter though and kudos to the chef & kitchen. read more

I ordered the chicken and biscuits with honey butter and gave the butter to my husband for his pancakes. The food was deliiiiiicious, our waiter was gracious and attentive, the orange juice really WAS freshly squeezed from navel oranges, and I got to drink the best coffee of my entire life here. Order the macchiato. Trust me and do it. I wanted to buy a bag of the regular drip coffee but they had run out. They had a private stash that they offered to sell me in a regular Ziploc bag, but I didn't really want to risk it spilling or getting contaminated or something on my way back home. The waiter was super apologetic and told me where I could buy the coffee for myself, then offered me another free macchiato to take with me. I declined the free macchiato because I was full, but we tipped him generously and I want to be sure to eat here again next time we visit. Overeasy was hands DOWN one of our highlights on a recent trip to Dallas. The ambiance is extremely warm and inviting with a cozy vibe and quiet atmosphere- whether you are having a meeting, nice meal or a cup of coffee with breakfast, you can do so without feeling overwhelmed by surrounding chaos. Being quite the fan of healthful locally grown fare, I was not disappointed by the food! Beautiful, fresh, flavorful, delicious and very reasonably priced. Aside from one manager (blond- not Amanda) being quite rude and uninviting, the staff did an excellent job, making this such a memorable visit for the week we stayed! Alaina, Audrey, Dez, Porttia, the main manager (brown hair- adorable boots! :D), Amanda and Vienna in particular have the gift of making one feel so welcome, special and taken care of! I was so disappointed. The service is terrible. Servers were rude and not well trained for the price point. I asked about the vegetarian moussaka. He said it was like lasagna. When it came out it looked like dog food on the plate. Everyone else at the table made comments that it looked terrible. It did taste good, but the presentation is awful. Gf got the avocado toast with a side of bacon I got the chilaquiles (servers favorite as he mentioned) Food took a bit of time to arrive but that's normal when it's busy As far as food goes is very esthetic But didn't deliver in the taste Not saying it was awful or we couldn't eat it But it lacked flavor chilaquiles are supposed to have a crunch to it and here it was getting on the soggy side The avocado toast was about the same the bread wasn't really toasted so it tasted a bit bland Really good orange juice though I'll say that All in all I would probably try again for redemption but I'll give it a 4/5 read more

In short: Very off-putting experience, staff made it clear they did not want our business. From other reviews, the host staff is always incredibly rude and will make your experience awful until you finally get the idea you are not welcome. I would not risk using this restaurant for any special events or business meetings unless the inconsistent service is addressed. I am shocked the Hilton allows this place to operate in their property. I was in Dallas for some work, as well as a wedding. I was staying down the street and wanted to grab breakfast with a former client and friend. I picked Overeasy based on a recommendation from my hotel concierge. We arrived at Overeasy around noon on Sunday, we went it the door and waited for five minutes in what we thought was the wait area, despite multiple staff seeing us, we had to follow signs to realize we needed to check in at the front. We made our way to the front and again waited without acknowledgement. I waited in line behind what I thought was another customer who was talking on his personal cell phone. Suddenly he turns around and is the host, he asks for name and number, I provide a name and point to the two of us, "Two Please". He said you got it, about a thirty-minute wait. This was fine, there were two other groups waiting so we sat at the behind them at tables near the coffee bar and waited. The other two groups were quickly seated, we got coffees at the coffee bar while waiting. We were generally ignored as the staff gathered to loudly talk in language that is not quite appropriate for a restaurant setting. We continued to wait, a number of new guests walked in and were immediately seated. I approached the new host (blonde lady) and politely asked for the status of our reservation. Immediately I was met with a nasty attitude. She said that our name was called but we never responded. This could very well be true, but neither of us heard the call out, and being the only ones waiting it was odd we were not approached. I was very understanding, confusion happens, she said they would clear a table and we would be seated quickly. I went back to the table to inform my colleague; we waited an additional five minutes while two other groups entered and were immediately seated. Finally, we decided to just get in line for a table. The group ahead of us was shown to their table with a cheery attitude. When the hostess saw us, she loudly sighed, and pointed to a booth "that's your spot". We saw ourselves to the table feeling very unwelcomed. The hostess came to the table and began SLAMMING down additional sets of silverware. I was confused, but informed her it was just the two of us. She angrily responded saying the number written "looks like a seven". This sounds like an internal issue, but I once again tried to give her and this restaurant a final benefit of the doubt saying, "oh no, it's just the two of us", allowing that this may be the reasoning that it took us so long to be seated. I literally could not finish making an excuse for their poor service, before she picked up the extra sets and ran off, leaving me mid-sentence. We waited for another five minutes getting glares from the staff. That was about all we could take, we stood to leave. I saw the hostess on the way out, I said "We are leaving since you have made it clear we are not welcome here" she rolled her eyes and laughed out loud at me (in front other guests). She then pushed past me and seated a new party at our table before we were out the door. My colleague and I were in shock. Due to the nature of our careers, we often spend time in restaurants, and both agreed that we have never been so unwelcome anywhere, ever. I would caution others about dining here, the prices do not match the attitude (I would get better service at a Waffle House). I shared my experience with my hotel concierge and a number of friends in the DFW area. Amusingly, the friend of mine who got married chose the Thompson as a venue over the Statler, I think that may be a wise decision given the hospitality provided in the short time I was on their property. There are a number of great restaurants in downtown Dallas that are in desperate need for business, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT A RESTURANT THAT DOES NOT WANT YOUR BUSINESS. read more

I live downtown and have been here a handful of times. The last two times were THE WORSE. The food is great! It's the LACK OF SERVICE that makes me regret visiting. The place was empty, with the exception of two other diners. I stood at the "wait to be seated" sign while a man on his laptop looked at me while talking to the manager on duty. No one greeted me until I asked to be seated. After being seated it took the un enthusiastic server some effort to approach me. Food took forever and the waiters were always talking with each other instead of working. Corporate management should consider making some much needed improvements with staffing. read more

Tried this gem during their "soft opening ". First and foremost this is an awesome option for the downtown area...kind of an upscale diner that serves breakfast all day. They have a nice drink menu and, what appears to be an extensive, coffee shop attached. They are clean and it appears to be a chef driven kitchen that's open to the dining area. Pretty disappointed with our experience this morning. My son loves this place but everything was off today. Waitress was terribly slow and even other waitstaff noticed and intervened. Biscuits and gravy are usually fantastic but were just sort of blah today. Food was just barely above room temp and lacked any seasoning. Side of potatoes were possibly below room temp. They used to have these overly indulgent but delicious hash brown bombs but those have been replaced with the aforementioned cold potatoes. Terrible experience. I ordered a coffee with my order and asked for Splenda. The coffee came, along with 2 packets of Splenda. I mixed in the sweetener, took a sip, and it was cold. I tried to flag down the waitress for several minutes and was finally able to tell her my coffee was cold and asked if she had some hot coffee she could bring me. She brought it out and left and I realized she didn't give me any more Splenda so I decided to just drink it without. It was cold... someone brought out our food 10 minutes later, still no sign of our waitress. I'm out of cold coffee and out of water. I couldn't find a single waitress in the restaurant so I started eating. My food was cold. I waited over 5 minutes to tell the waitress my food was cold and to ask for some hot coffee but she never came so I ate my cold meal with no water and no coffee. I finished it and still waited 10 minutes before asking someone to get my waitress. I told her my experience and asked for the check. No apology, no warm coffee to go, nothing. I was charged $4.50 for 1 cup of cold coffee with no sweetener and $13 for cold chicken biscuits. read more

The menu is short but packed with incredible bites, unlike any other place in Dallas. The steak and eggs had a potato salad you shouldn't miss. And the mexipho is delicious and leaves room for their great appetizers and incredible banana cream pie. read more

We went there a couple of weekends ago for brunch. We did not have a reservation, nor did we know where to park. First off, the hotel has valet parking and Overeasy will validate it! They seated us immediately. The service was GREAT! The staff genuinely seemed to like working there and were very enthusiastic about the food. It was our first time and they offered great advice. I had the omelet, and my friends had the biscuits as well as the grits. We shared an order of avocado toast. It was ALL delicious. The omelet was indeed one of the best I have ever had. The biscuits were tasty and the grits were amazing. Overall, the cost was very reasonable as well. They had brunch drinks that looked very good, but we skipped those. We are in the process of moving to the greater Dallas/Ft. Worth area and here visiting to shop around for places. A former colleague from AT&T has re-located here and she suggested we meet here for lunch. It was amazing! We had the best server, which is the key to any good experience, and he took good care of us. The Reuben is out of this world; I got mine without sauerkraut and my spouse got his with it and scarfed it down. My friends got the tortilla soup and split a sandwich. ALL of it was amazing and very well worth every penny. The place is spotless clean and it's evident it's run incredibly well. There's lots to look at (apart from the attractive staff) and if you go to the roof there's a gorgeous deck with a sweeping view of Dallas. Outside, classic cars adorn the entry which are fascinating to see. This is a must visit for anyone coming into Dallas! I know for us, we will be back. read more

After moving here from Los Angeles it was very hard to find a good breakfast place that compares to what I am used to over there. I tried at least 20 different places and literally NONE of them compare to over easy. None. This place has the best and freshest sweetest orange juice, the best coffee, the best quality ingredients and an amazing deviled egg flight. I am very surprised why it would only have 3.5 stars. It should have at least 4.5 if you are comparing it to other Dallas places hands down. The location is amazing. The coffee bar is so tasty and the staff is quick and friendly. Prices are very good as well especially for the amazing food quality. This is my favorite brunch place in Dallas and deserves 5 stars!!! read more

I am torn on this place because I had two totally different experiences within 3 days. The place itself is super cute... it has a 70s diner feel, but not in a cheesy way, in a trendy/chic way. I first came in on a Sunday afternoon by myself after getting off the airplane and getting to down. I was seated at the bar and found the service to be good. It did take a little while to get the cold brew coffee I ordered, but otherwise good service. I ordered the chicken tender biscuits with a side of hashbombs. Both were really good, but I wish the chicken tenders were more crispy, but the breading was pretty minimal and fell right off. The biscuit was delicious though! I thought it was such a cute brunch spots that when my coworkers were looking for a place to meet the next morning I suggested coming here. The service was so horrible for a slow Tuesday morning that I was embarrassed that I had given it such high accolades to them. We were promptly seated and our coffee/drink orders were taken right away, but that is when the service stopped. Ten minutes go by and finally the drip coffee arrives.. another couple minutes and my latte arrives.. but my coworker that ordered cold brew was left hanging. He told her that they were "looking for some" and that's what the delay was. He disappeared for a while again until we finally had to wave him down and tell him we were ready to order - put in our order and my coworker again had to say "can I get my cold brew?". After that they finally brought it, but forgot the milk. Honestly though, if it's taking that long or you can't find any at that point it is worth at least offering up iced coffee or asking if the person wants something else. After we all got our drinks, we waited probably another 20 minutes for our meal. We had to ask if at least our biscuits we ordered for the table were done so we'd have something to much on and the waiter looked like we were being unreasonable and said, "I can go check and see if they've made them yet"... all I have to say is we shouldn't have to even prompt you to check after that long... as a waiter I would think you'd be ancy with the kitchen if you see a table sitting with nothing for 20 minutes. It is breakfast, which to me is arguably one of the easiest meals to make - eggs, bacon, sausage, toast... all things that are very quick to make. When our meals arrived, one of the orders was wrong - she asked for her eggs over medium and they came out scrambled but at this point we just needed to eat and go about our day so we didn't say anything. Furthermore, the scrambled eggs were overcooked - like toasted brown. How do you mess up scrambled eggs? Icing on the cake was we asked for the check to be split 3 ways, I get that's annoying, but it wasn't busy and it wasn't like we were a loud rambunctious party that ordered a million things that you'd have to figure out how to split up. He came back with one check and we were so annoyed at that point that the person that had the highest business expense limit between the 3 of us took the check. After some time a waiter finally came by, took our order. We both ordered Avocado toast with a side of eggs and I added bacon. The kitchen was busy so food took a bit to come out, once it did we still did not have utensils or napkins. From then forward our server never came back to see us. We got utensils from someone that was running the food. Had to ask for napkins twice, eventually we were given some paper napkins from the coffee bar, I think at that point one of the leads or floor managers heard us asking and she brought us some cloth napkins and apologized for not being provided napkins earlier. It really just felt like we asked for everything and were never really asked if we needed anything. The food was good, basic breakfast, scrambled eggs were the best! My husband and I came here for brunch on Saturday! The restaurant is inside of the Statler hotel downtown. The restaurant was very cute, and clean! We got seated at a giant shared table which wasn't my favorite but it wasn't super busy so no one sat directly next to us. We ordered the biscuits for an appetizer. I ordered the avacado toast and my husband ordered the easy living. My avacado toast was great! The bread was delicious paired with the smashed avacado, cheese, radish and tomatoes. My husband said his meal was good, but his sausage was slightly overcooked/dry and his hash bombs ended up being just cut up potatoes. The biscuits we got as an app were great! Salty, buttery and flaky. Super dense biscuits though. Not so light and fluffy. The reason I gave them 4 stars was because I believe for the price point, everything should have been stellar, and it was only good. read more

She did step back in ? apparently. So we received drinks. My espresso martini was served in a martini coup glass full of ice? No espresso beans. I showed the server multiple times and even compared it to the instagram photos and she just walked away. She then said the bartender/barista had to step out again and we couldn't get anymore drinks. My espresso martini became complete water and I did not drink it. They didn't acknowledge anything or offer any condolences. Will not return. read more
