This place has very acidic coffee (at least the house /drip) which comes across as sour. I'm sitting outside this morning. It's a little warm and bright but inside the AC feels like it's set to 55 degrees. Maybe they don't want people hanging out long.

I ordered ahead and got the banana matcha. My order wasn't ready when I got in but that's okay because they were still prepping the matcha. I will say it is not made per order. They make a big container with an electric whisk. So if you enough the froth of a hand whisked match this isn't for you. All and all it was pretty good, sweet, but good.
Nice modern interior coffee shop. Here for business trip, I saw a local coffee shop which I decided to try. It was across the street from Pecan Lodge so that's how I found out about this place. They offer lots of items on the menu from coffee, non-coffee, pastries, etc. I ordered the large iced latte ($6.35) with a hazelnut syrup ($0.75). It was really good and a large portion. They also sell lots of merch on the side. Really love the atmosphere here.
I've been drinking Merit Coffee for years (it's from San Antonio, where I have family and visit often), but I visited this Deep Ellum location of Merit Coffee for the first time when I was visiting home last weekend. We'd been in Deep Ellum for a few hours for brunch and shopping, and we decided to grab some coffees before calling it a day. This location of Merit is in a great location (right in the heart of Deep Ellum) and is really beautiful and comfortable (lots of seating - and really stylish decor, too). The customer service was good, and the coffees were great. (Their pastries looked great - and I am fan of their kolaches from past visits to Merit in San Antonio - but we were stuffed from brunch and couldn't partake on this visit.) Just a really nice coffee shop. I'd have sat and hung out with family or read a book for a while if we'd had more time!
Mehhhh.. it wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best. When we walked in we were greeted, and it seemed as though they were happy to be there. They have some cool drinks, like the French toast matcha! I didn't order it cause I felt like it would be wayyy too sweet. The matcha was okay, but for the price I do feel like I could have gotten more and also not be charged for oat milk, and also get the matcha made fresh and not come out of a squeeze bottle. Overall I'm not sure if I want to go back, I think I'd try it again.. but we will see.
Went here after work with my friends! The cafe was really crowded so it's hard to get work done as a group but for solo studying I think it's great. They also played jazz music so +1 point for me! I ordered a strawberry blossom hojicha which came with a nice house made jam and edible flowers on top. It was a really pretty and refreshing drink. I didn't taste anything from the edible flowers but they were a fun inclusion. Hojicha could be a bit stronger, was a little overpowered by the strawberry.
Had such a good matcha here. Blackberry cobbler is such a unique flavor. You really need to try it for yourself. I got oat milk and might ask for it a little less sweet, but still delicious. My partner got the cereal milk cold brew and he thought it was a good blend of coffee flavor as well as the sweetness from the end of a good bowl of cereal. The barista also said she had to sign an NDA for the sweetener in it. Kinda interesting lol Inside is modern and clean! They are pet-friendly and had pastries that looked good too!
The cereal milk cold brew was definitely a sweet treat. It's like a fruity pebble mixed with a shot of coffee and milk. Originally, I came to get the Matcha cherry blossom, which they had at some point, but it was seasonal so when I came, it was gone and replaced with the banana pudding matcha. Nice staff and super cute and relatively quiet and spacious place to work.
We ordered two iced lattes and two ham and swiss croissants. The croissants were light and flaky just as a good croissant should be. The ham was a thick cut slice of ham and not one like deli ham, so that made the croissant even better. The iced lattes were delicious. Smooth, creamy, and not bitter at all. The atmosphere in the coffee shop is nice and relaxing. It makes it feel like time slowed down around us and allowed us to relax and enjoy the coffee. It was a nice treat! They also have some cool merchandise if that interests you. Overall, a great experience. The only downfall was the parking. The parking lots were very expensive so try to find a spot on the street and use the parking meter (50¢ for an hour Vs $23 for 45 in the parking lot..) Overall a great experience and would recommend for anybody wanting a nice cup of coffee and a few minutes to relax!
Cozy, cute, coffee shop in deep Ellum! I tasted the strawberry matcha and it was absolutely delicious I will definitely be purchasing that next time I'm back. The cashier recommended rosella hibiscus tea and half lemonade it was pretty good, a little tart but definitely refreshing.

Thankfully, places like Merit Coffee exist to show Texans what they're missing! I got the 12oz Iced Cherry Blossom Matcha which was both sweet and earthy and floral and vibrant. The cherry blossom syrup was slightly chemically in taste but other than that, I really enjoyed it. We also got a 12oz Pour Over of La Senda Double Carbonic Maceration 450. These beans had notes of blood orange, molasses, and mango tea. It was super bright, clean, and bold in flavor. Definitely recommend stopping by!
Summer was patient, amazing, and sweet! She gave me quick descriptions of each drink since I wasn't too sure what I wanted, and everything sounded so good! I ended up getting a Bluebonnet matcha and a Purple haze latte, and they were very yummy! The ambiance is very peaceful, the voice volume was relatively low so it makes for a perfect chill/study spot! Overall, my visit was great, and I'll definitely be coming here in the future!

Down to earth coffee place. Overall easy to order and drinks and food were made efficiently. This place put me on to a new type of drink, a cold brew with lemonade. I've been hooked since. Staff is truthful and honest. For instance, someone dropped their drink and they remade it with no problem whatsoever. It's hard to find a coffee place like that. I find that to be a reason to return as accidents do happen and some coffee places will charge you again for an accident. Some of the food items can appear high in price but other than that, they were good. read more
So wanted to love this shop based on the reviews but overall, just "meh" to me. Ordered the banana matcha with oat milk, omitting the cold foam. Matcha was decent, the banana flavor was very subtle but that could've been due to the omission of the foam. Matcha could have also been stronger for my liking, maybe adding extra does the trick. There's a few locations around Dallas, so won't count Merit out just yet. Definitely want to try the strawberry next time! read more

I LOVE BANANA MATCHA and this one didn't disappoint, the perfect blend of banana in the drink (assuming there might have been banana milk) and pudding/cold foam on top. The matcha wasn't grainy either and was mixed well with whole milk. Workers were also super nice and the vibe of the place is super cute and trendy! read more

When visiting DFW, it's easy to find a coffee shop but not so easy to find a parking spot. That was my deciding factor for choosing Merit Coffee--wide open parking right in front of the shop on a Tuesday morning. Coffee was served up by friendly baristas. My basic vanilla latte was served up quickly, and just the right amount of sweetness (pro tip: 1 1/2 pumps is just right if you like sweet but not super sweet). I will say this roast was not my favorite as I prefer milder, but those who like a bolder flavor will probably enjoy. read more
Super cute coffee shop that has an open space seating and is aesthetically pleasing. The woman taking my order at the front was really sweet and helpful. I was in desperate need of some caffeine so I ordered a matcha latte with a shot of espresso, topped with cinnamon. I noticed everyone getting their drinks and mine still hadn't been called. So I asked the barista if mine was coming up. The barista came in hot with the attitude saying "I have a lot of tickets and I have others to make, but yours is coming." I was just double checking because we've all been there where we wait 15+ mins and when we ask, they've somehow lost our ticket or have forgotten to make our drink. Hey! It happens. I was just double checking, but the attitude really was off putting. I also do believe he forgot about my drink until I brought it up, bc suddenly, he stops making all the other drinks and starts mine and mine was the next one up. He called my name twice, rolling his eyes. I didn't think the drink was mine bc mine was a matcha latte and the drink was not green at all. I thought maybe there was another Kim there. But the 2nd time he called my name, he looked at me. I grab the drink and instantly knew it was made wrong. Essentially it was just a reg latte with cinnamon. I felt like it was such a hassle to complain and given the barista was already mean, I just let it go, but really I should have gotten what I ordered. read more
This is a cozy little coffee shop tucked into the chaos that is Deep Ellum. I ordered the cereal milk cold brew. It looks super cute, sprinkled with fruity pebbles, but it was not my favorite. She assured me it was on the sweeter side, but honestly it could've been sweeter and I'm not really even a sweet coffee drink kind of gal. If you are staying downtown (Deep Ellum) there is not a whole lot of coffee choices...but this one is great!!! Really cool inside with a good amount of seating both inside and out. Had an iced Americano and it tasted perfect. They also have a few food options read more

Looking for some good coffee and tea recommendations on the downtown area and this place came highly recommended. The service was great and the staff gave good recommendations of items on the menu. First time trying the iced strawberry matcha latte and it was pretty good. Also a great place to get some work done. I will definitely be back. read more

Good bakery items, excellent espresso! Not too bitter, or bland, perfectly dialed in! Came on Saturday morning and it was pretty busy, but the staff was very friendly and super helpful for being so busy. Very impressed with the baristas, I sat at the bar and chatted for a bit with the redhead and commiserated over the Stars loss :(. All in all, very good experience, I can see this place becoming a regular staple in my deep ellum visits! read more
My girlfriend and I stopped in on our last day of vacation in Dallas and loved the coffee here. She got the strawberry matcha and I had a sip. I normally don't like matcha but I thought it was really good! I got the cereal milk coffee. They soak the milk in fruity pebbles and then pour that into the coffee. It tasted so freaking delicious! I want to make it at home myself. The service here was super friendly and pretty quick. And the ambiance was bright and inviting. We didn't get anything besides our drinks but that was totally worth it. If you're a coffee lover, I think you'll enjoy this place. read more

Awesome little shop. I tried the cereal milk cold brew because it is so unusual and no joke it tasted like fruity pebbles without the sugar shakes. It was quite expensive but fun for the experience. The cafe design is lovely and they have some super cool merch available as well. I would definitely frequent this spot if I was local. read more

Was on a work trip and needed a little pick me up. Found this place is Deep Ellum. The place is super clean and trendy as soon as we walked in. I was surprised by how much space it had inside. The employees were all super nice (has to be that southern hospitality). I already had caffeine earlier and did not want to overload so I got a decaf Iced Americano and let me tell you... I've never tasted better decaf espresso. That tells me the quality of all their other stuff. If you can make decaf espresso taste good, you can make anything taste good! I would HIGHLY recommend, especially if you are coming from out of town and need a guaranteed W on coffee in Dallas! read more
