So I stumbled across this place we were kinda on yelp, looking for coffee and saw that this place was right down the street from us. I say us because that's when I was with my girlfriend broken up now and take people there to try their strawberry Matcha latte Which is always fire. Staff is great very attentive. MERIT COFFEE is located in the artsy area of DEEP ELLUM and has a both indoor and outdoor dining areas. There was no line to get in, no line to order and it didn't take long at all before we got our order. Their AFFOGATO was great! It combined both their espresso with Lick ice cream, which, according to the barista had to be brought in because they don't have a local branch. Got some BEANS too and the coffee we were able to make using this was balanced. Enjoyed an ICED LATTE on the spot too and that was refreshing. read more

I've had better coffee from scetchy gas stations. The bagel bombs are a treat but for a coffee place you would expect the coffee not to taste like battery acid. Also get a to-go cup the house cups are only 4oz hardly. Cheers read more

One thing I can't get in board with is staff who when you ask a question, like, does your oat milk have added sugar or how many shots of espresso are in there, and you get an annoyed, impatient response. I'm sorry, I can't ask you a couple questions? It's literally two quick questions. No need to be so utterly perturbed. Then the latte tastes like chalk and espresso. Won't return. read more

Pecan Lodge seems to be the reasoning behind my new discoveries in Deep Ellum but I am not mad at it. This place is also across from Pecan Lodge; I noticed it while eating dinner but it was understandably closed. I have a bad habit of defaulting to Starbucks for coffee when I'm traveling for work so I made an effort to come back here the next morning and I'm glad I did. The staff were super friendly in helping explain the differences of items on the menu. For example - they offer 2 different types of cold brew - washed and natural. I ended up getting the washed (more chocolately notes) and enjoyed it so much I got the natural (more cirtusy) on the way out! Both profiles were excellent; super smooth as well. It was so good I came back next day as well! There are plenty of seats inside or out to enjoy your coffee. The vibe is modern and clean - overall a superb place to get some coffee. They had cool merch too but I didn't have room in my suitcase. read more

My favorite coffee shop out of the other ones I've tried when I was visiting, wished I had this in LA! The staff here was super friendly and I loved the interior. What a great spot to do some work or just hang out & chat. I had an iced vanilla latte w/ oat milk and my bf had one of their pour-overs. He was very satisfied with his pour-over and I loved my latte. It had the perfect balance of espresso, milk, and a hint of vanilla. I also enjoy being able to taste the espresso in my lattes and I definitely did get that. Overall, highly recommend this coffee shop! read more

The baristas were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their craft, and it showed in every cup they served. The ambiance at Merit Coffee is cozy and inviting, with plenty of seating options to relax and enjoy your coffee. Whether you're catching up with friends or diving into some work, it's the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while. The only thing I would say is that the seats do need a deep clean. Seems to have multiple stains on all their seating. Good place for working ( 10 down and 10 up internet speeds). Chairs are okay. Parking in the front and back just fine. The matcha strawberry drink was quite tasty, the strawberries light and very freshly done as far as I can tell. Not artificial tasting. Props to the matcha for not being super chalky. Oat milk is $1 upcharge, same goes for other alternative milks. Total being $8 and change after tip. Their drip coffee is actually one of the better ones out there for sure, I normally do not go for drip, but it did a good job. I can't describe it much tho. Pop Tart was AMAZING. FLAKY warm and perfectly sweet. $4. Other than the poptart, I would not go back but its a decent place if its close to you to try. I believe the rest rooms are in the outside of the building so you may need to ask for access codes fyi. read more

I haven't had a good cup of joe since leaving my hometown favs but I think I've found a new spot in Deep ellum, Dallas TX. Coffee is my thang!! I'm so happy!! The cashier was friendly and the coffee server was just as accommodating with information about the coffee and company. The house brew was wonderful and a great price. My daughter tried the ice tea and loved it as well!! I love the rhythm and speed of this community. A very electic area of shops and bars, a col hang out spot! When you keep young folk around you learn about the best spots in town. I'm a foodie, so thankful my children are too! read more

This coffee shop is located in Deep Ellum and you can't miss it. The shop itself is not big, but has decent seating. There was a bunch of people there seated, enjoying coffee, and working on their computers. As far as what they offer for coffee, they had your standard selection. I went with an iced latte and got it in large. A basic iced drink. When I picked up my drink, I tasted it and it was alright. It was decent, but I have had better before. Can't quite pick out why I didn't prefer this place. It's decent, but probably I've been spoiled with really good coffee. Also, it's a little pricier in my opinion but not outrageous. Merit is so good!! The staff here are so sweet and comfortable to talk to, the coffee is DELICIOUS! I always get a vanilla caramel latte and it always comes out so good. I've also tried their strawberry matcha, which is very good as-well! They make the strawberry syrup themselves which is such a plus. Located in the heart of Deep Ellum, Merit Coffee is a great addition to the area. While Merit is part of a chain with other locations throughout Texas, that does not take away from the 'local coffee' feel; the ambiance here does not say 'chain'. The interior, while a little on the small side makes optimal use of the space. There are a few tables/chairs along with a few setups of booth-like seats with small tables. They also have a space that is their coffee lab. This space resembles a conference room and from what I have heard can be reserved/used by larger groups. There is also a patio at front of the coffee shop. I think their drip coffee is some of the best around town; very smooth and it carries the caffeine kick I enjoy from a great cup of coffee. I have also had their cold brew it is as tasty as the drip. In addition to their coffee beverages, they have a small food menu which includes pastries along with a few breakfast tacos (from Tacodeli). Delicious coffee from a shop with such a beautiful, clean and open interior. If I was local to Dallas, I would definitely come here to do work or catch up with a friend. With almost all glass windows & high ceiling, this shop is flooded with natural lighting - so beautiful. Not to mention, the iced latte is definitely one of the best I've ever had. So rich & creamy and you can add your own sweetness with their honey or simple syrup to make it just the perfect sweetness you like. (Highly recommend the honey simple syrup!) We checked out Merit Coffee on a Saturday morning but "early" before it got busy. The spot itself is beautiful. The inside is open and airy. I love the colors and the green brought in with plants. I thought there was plenty of seating. It definitely had a coffee shop vibe-- some people were talking, some working, some reading. It wasn't too loud or anything so perfect spot for whatever you may need to do. I loved it. Both my gf and I enjoyed the coffees we ordered. We are obsessed with quality. This is what drove us to start sourcing and roasting our coffee almost 7 years ago. Our team travels to Central/South America and Africa, finding the best quality coffee there is, and works directly with the farmers. The coffee gets shipped to Texas where its roasted on a 45 & 25kg Probat roaster, custom built for us in Germany. We take responsibility for the quality of coffee in your cup very seriously, as well as creating an environment where you can enjoy that coffee, get some work done, connect with friends, or even escape the busyness of life for a bit. Our cafes are focused on the local community and neighborhoods that they are in.With sourcing and roasting done, the responsibility then falls on our baristas shoulders to brew. Our baristas are amazing and approachable coffee professionals who love learning names, what your favorite drink is, and finding out how that job interview went last week - all while crafting a delicious cup of coffee that we sourced, roasted and brewed for you.

We renovated an old warehouse in South San Antonio and opened Merit Roasting Co. Now we're traveling the world, building direct trade relationships and bringing back extraordinarily good beans to roast, grind, brew and sell. By personally sourcing beans from around the world, we take responsibility for the quality of the coffee in your cup.

Loved the merch in the back, especially the tote bags! It was packed at all times on a Saturday, and the line was always long! However, the drinks came out pretty quick, and the employees were definitely working hard behind the counter. I got the matcha squared drink, which was so creamy and not as sweet as some of their other drinks. I was wanting to try a holiday drink, but I was too scared it would be too sweet, so I'm glad I chose the squared latte instead. Not much seating inside because of how small it is, but there are some small tables outside on the porch, and the weather was perfect!

White Rhino was perfect for all of these things. Complete with tree lined streets amidst attractive modern and historic style homes and store fronts made walking to this cafe a real treat. The staff was great, didn't make me feel rushed, they looked like they enjoyed being there, and all that makes a difference for sure. The coffee (Iced Latte) was also real nice. Not sure what milk they used, but it was almost sweet. The espresso was subtle and very refreshing. I also got a breakfast sandwich that was tasty, and not messy (a major factor when walking round and eating!) 10/10 will be going back on my next trip to Dallas.

I never saw anyone even wipe down a table. It was busy at times, but there were also slow times and the staff just stood behind the counter and talked with each other. I'm hoping it was just an off day and it's cleaner when you visit.
