I can really only speak on my experience with trying the coffee from this restaurant, and I would say that I had a great experience. When I am looking for good coffee, I specifically try and find places that roast their own beans. Ascension Coffee offers a variety of their roasted beans that they use in their coffee which is available for purchase. The coffee itself was great and not bitter. They offered a variety of lattes, and out of the 2 tried, I enjoyed both of them. I'm sure any of the coffees you try here are gonna taste great. Upon walking in, I was wowed. It's a really nice spot and I love the luscious greenery patio. The interior has a rustic industrial style design. This was such a last minute find. I wish we had time to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and maybe get a bite to eat. We had checked out of our hotel and needed to find a close by coffee shop to grab something to go.This was around the corner from our hotel and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. My SO didn't get anything, he not really a coffee drinker. I got a lavender latte, which was delicious. Came here after playing pickleball in a group of 6 on a Sunday afternoon, and we had a great time. I really enjoyed my first visit to Ascension! I came on a Friday afternoon at around 3:30, and it wasn't too busy. The space is very spacious, bright, and welcoming. It was decorated for the holidays, which made it even cuter. There were a mix of people socializing and studying/working. Indoor seating includes booths, standard seating, and couches. The booths weren't the most comfortable, but it was okay for a short stay. There is also outdoor seating available. I ordered an Iced Hibiscus Flirt tea and the Latin Chicken + Grain Bowl. First off, the bowl was INCREDIBLY GOOD. I was worried the sauce would be too spicy, but it was perfect. The tea was as expected and refreshing, but I wouldn't recommend for anyone wanting a sweeter drink. The service was really quick, but then again it wasn't that busy. Half of the parking lot is self-park and the other half is valet. There was plenty of parking available when I went. Unfortunately my first experience here wasn't what I'd hoped. I'll start by saying the location and ambiance is great and the space itself is wonderful, spacious and artistic. The staff were super friendly and fast. I stopped in at 730am and I ordered the sunrise bowl (yogurt with toppings) and it was warm. So regrettably I didn't eat it. Honestly, we were pretty disappointed this weekend. Having had good experiences at the uptown ascension, we decided to try this one. It's. A pretty space with indoor and patio seating. On a sunday at 10, we were seated right away but food took almost an hour to come out. For an establishment to advertise brunch I think the kitchen should be able to keep up with peak brunch demands. Our food was lukewarm and it was ok but not great; the Benedict was just on a raw piece of bread. The breakfast potatoes were undercooked and bland and lukewarm. I always love Ascension! Came here to pick up a go hi order and it was a great experience as always. My order was not only ready, but it was correct including the additional things I placed in the notes because it wasn't an option in the system! I had the migas with vegan chorizo and added tortilla. However, we got lucky and were seated shortly after we arrived because someone had just left! The space is big with tables, couches, nooks, chairs, and also a tiny reading corner! I ordered the "Simple Brekky", one of the cutely named breakfasts served all day. Half of the menu is sortuv Cali healthy stuff like bowls and grains and avocado. So if you're into that you should probably give it a try. I'm more of a regular old breakfast girl. My bacon didn't look right, all thick and stiff, so I didn't have any (I'm just a skosh particular about bacon!). My thick, whole grain toast was good but arrived fairly cool so that the butter didn't melt much. The sweet potato hash browns tasted well enough but seemed pretty greasy. The eggs tasted very much of butter. I'm not sure why the taste was so strong to me since I cook my own eggs in butter every day, but it was oddly too rich..(?). Service was not great, not bad. Quick trip to Texas and we found this spot within walking distance. When we walked in we were greeted by servers in passing saying we could be seated wherever we liked. We saw a mixture of people working with laptops or seated casually with friends/family. The decor was simple, mixed decor with some feathery touches on lamp shades, simple colors on the walls. My husband decided on the brunch burger added an egg to his meal & a horchata latte. After our last disaster of a takeout experience we came back only to use the gift card they had given us and again we were a bit disappointed. I got a bagel toasted with the scallion cream cheese and a pancake. The pancake was good but I don't know what happened with the cream cheese. It almost seemed like they forgot to toast the bagel so just toasted it with the cream cheese on it? It was hot and soft almost like butter but with the dairy taste of cream cheese. Just odd.
