I only come here one time a year now and it is after the Christmas parade on the first weekend of December! It is now a tradition for my mom and I to come eat here! We love it because it's so small, quaint, and packed the day of- it's just cozy. Of course it is downtown so be careful, there was a man harassing me and even followed me and my mom into the restaurant, but once we were in he left. There aren't many vegan items so I got the potatoes and dirty chai, which was perfect for me. Don't forget parking, you do have to pay for parking in downtown, so just keep that in mind. We will keep our tradition next year and the year after. Just stay safe when walking around downtown. They asked us if we were eating in and we said yes. However, when the food was ready, it was served in takeout boxes and included plastic utensils. I was expecting it to be on paper plates, since we were eating in. The food was good. Not what I was expecting but it was decent. The Benedict was good but the sauce was abit bland. The madame Croque was good but the egg was a little over cooked and my fork snapped whilst eating it from the box. I like that each table seemed to have sockets to recharge your tech, so that was a plus. They close early, around 4pm. Overall, a decent place, convenient and close to our hotel. read more

I was doing the tourist thing and came across Commissary, which is the cutest Market, Cafe and Bakery. It's really big and the different shades of blue tile stand out both on the inside and outside of the building. Really beautiful and unique! I had the Salted Spanish Latte, made with Condensed Milk, Vanilla, Espresso and Maldon Salt. I really couldn't taste the Condensed Milk, but it was really good none-the-less. I didn't have any food, but would love to return to try some of the treats from the bakery. The service was excellent. So good! First time here and wanted to try out couple items. I got the double scoop gelato ($6.90), seasonal danish ($5), and a large iced blue lavender matcha ($6.75). Danish was very flavorful and delicious. The matcha drink was good, but a bit too sweet and matcha flavor was very light. Gelato was good as well! Interior is very elegant and beautiful. There was one staff working in the front. He made the drinks, got the gelato for me, and working the cashier. The only downside is that the business hours are short. My only gripe is they've switched the menu a few times and I've seen a bunch of their best stuff removed - the breakfast croissant sandwich (croissants in general, actually?), the breakfast quiche, and a few hot sandwiches. Awesome little place for a quick snack or meal. This was recommended by my sister that works in Downtown. She's a huge fan! I came at 1pm Saturday and traffic was killer with a lot of construction. The oasis they create inside the store is so calming though! Everything was pleasant to look at and comfy chairs! I wanted something for a light brunch and got an egg and cheese bagel sandwich and butterscotch latte. The latte was unique and creamy, if you enjoy a sweeter latte it's perfect with a foam top! The sandwich was soft and fresh and the eggs were perfectly scrambled and once again- FRESH! Perfect basic bagel sandwich for a person looking for something classic. The service was nice, the girl at the counter asked all the customary questions and was very pleasant. They even allowed me to sample their gelato that was from an Argentinian company. A bit sweet for me but was super creamy. I loved the open kitchen view though. All the staff in the back hard at work making delicious fresh food. Interesting little spot in the middle of downtown Dallas. Very high end and up scale with a noteworthy wine selection. The price point definitely reflects this. They even have gourmet snacks, fruits, and cheeses in their little grocery area. I ordered a pastry, the breakfast tacos, and an iced oat milk latte. The latte was just okay, the breakfast tacos were so-so because they weren't seasoned. (They did come with a side of salsa) The potatoes in the tacos were fantastic though, and I would probably just order a side of those next time. The pastry was good but not super memorable. All in all, it was a bit of a mixed experience. Maybe I ordered the wrong things? I'm not sure. We were the first customers to arrive and had never been here before, though we've often seen it busy. The food came out in about 10 minutes and was very good. The burrito was a bit too spicy for my taste, but the Croque Madame was hearty and plentiful. One small downside: the only salt and pepper available were the tiny packets included with the disposable utensil pack. I would've preferred real shakers or larger packets. Have yet to be disappointed by any order, but my go-to tends to be the Turkish eggs accompanied by their breakfast potatoes (not generally a potato fan, but highly recommend). All that aside, what has driven me to write their review is not their food, but their service. I think the burrito is a solid choice - and it's a non-messy handheld for consumption. I would say the breakfast potatoes however, were the real winner and blew my mind. Served in a large paper box, these small potatoes were salted and seasoned, and after their temperature dropped from the surface of the sun, these were great. I've been going here for many years. It is THE BEST breakfast/lunch cafe downtown and honestly one of the best in Dallas. The bread is made in house and made in the European style. The meats are butchered downstairs and sourced from local farms and also aged in house. The steak fries are my favorite I've ever had in my whole life. The avocado toast is also the only avocado toast I will buy because it's so good. I try to replicate it at home because it is bar non, the best avocado toast. They also have a small retail type section where you can buy rotisserie chicken made in house and wine and very good quality ingredients like tomato sauces and other canned foods... their coffee is fantastic and the best part, it's not over priced, you can get $15 - $20 meal and it's hearty and filling and healthier than other options. OMG! I almost forgot the Croque Madame! It's literally soooooo good! And the Cinnamon roll has plenty of flavor and filling AND it's soft and gooey, not hard and dry. The interior is a clean contemporary yet comfortable place to get your food, bakery items, or convenience grab-and-go goods. In addition to these items, you can get coffee and espresso based beverages. Truly everything that a busy person needs to feed their needs! Breakfast is a good thing to get here, the Coconut Oatmeal is great, and the Avocado Toast is the best I've had anywhere! Pair this with a coffee and you are ready for the day. You can eat in at one of the shiny aluminum tables, or you can get pretty much anything to go. Take a pastry, muffin, or cookie with you for later! Lunch is likewise a great experience. I recently had the displeasure of visiting The Commissary, and I must say that my experience was far from satisfactory. It all began when I attempted to receive a discount that I was entitled to but was met with resistance and a complete lack of customer service. First and foremost, the issue revolved around my Drakestone keychain not being honored. As a loyal customer, I expected The Commissary to honor the resident benefits of The Drakestone, which included the discount I was entitled to. However, when I approached the cashier and presented my valid Drakestone keychain, I was met with a dismissive attitude and told that the discount was no longer valid, despite the enforcement change of using your Drakestone card instead of the keychain that was being approved before. This was not only frustrating but also unprofessional. To make matters worse, I couldn't help but overhear the baristas gossiping about customers, including myself. Their comments were not only rude but also entirely unbecoming of employees representing a reputable establishment. It was apparent that the staff was more interested in making judgments and discussing customers rather than providing a welcoming and enjoyable environment. Overall, my visit to The Commissary left a sour taste in my mouth, and I am deeply disappointed by the level of customer service and professionalism displayed. The lack of consideration for my Drakestone keychain discount that was used and approved before and the unprofessional behavior of the baristas tarnished what should have been a pleasant experience. I hope that The Commissary takes this feedback seriously and takes steps to improve its customer service and staff behavior to ensure that other patrons do not have to endure a similar unpleasant encounter. Lastly before I forget I came back 30 minutes later with my discount card in which I receive premium benefits (35%) and asked if they can at least repay me with a pastry or coffee for the extra $7 I spent that should've been discounted from the $22 I spent. All the manager said was no he'd get in trouble when it's money that I'm owed because they couldn't accept my KEY that I've been using as a discount for the past year. They now lost 5 loyal drakestone costumers because they couldn't at least do the honors of correcting their mistake or at least making up for the mistake. read more

It is nice to pop into a place where one can get and see this type of service delivered. I noticed one guy ask another for something and the gentleman had a look of concern, interest, and openness about wanting to help or answer the question that was asked. That's team work! Food was delicious. The place was clean. Got a loaf of bread from them as well and enjoyed it at my hotel. I loved this level of service, quality, and originality in a downtown food scene which has been very disappointing so far. I felt like I was in Portland or LA downtown with these guys. Finally got to come out and check this place out to see what all the buss on IG was about. Now I know! I loved the open concept and the butcher/coffeehouse/grocery vibe. Staff where all very nice. I tried a great item from the front case called fiselle(I think)WOW I loved it. Fresh cured meats form the deli/ creamy Brie cheese And housemaid grainy mustard on a long skinny baguette. That and my latte filled me up nicely. The prices where reasonable and serving sizes Nice as well. They have some wine/beer/Kombucha/juices etc available in a cold box and even some "fooodie merch" I took the train in from Grapevine and it was a quick walk from the Akard Station. read more
