I really can't say enough good things about Village Baking Co. It is easily one of my favorite spots now. Everything I tried was absolutely top-tier. I started with the croque monsieur, and it was exactly what I was craving. The cheese was perfectly melted and bubbly, and that hint of dill on top really pulled it all together. I also grabbed a slice of the lorraine quiche, which was incredibly savory with a crust that was so buttery and flaky it practically melted in my mouth. For dessert, the chocolate kouign-amann was a total standout, super crispy on the outside with those rich, sweet layers inside. I paired it with an iced chai latte, which was perfectly spiced and not overly sweet. They have a small outdoor seating section that is perfect for catching some fresh air while you eat. This is my favorite bakery! Every time I have stopped by, I have had an excellent experience. Staff is friendly, the bakery is clean, and it has a cozy atmosphere. They have a few tables and chairs inside and outside for sitting. The tarts are amazing and definitely recommend you take one to go. The croissants are delicious, buttery, and flaky. The coffee is a nice addition but, the main attraction is the bakery! The bakery is in the Bishop Arts area so, you can find some free parking depending on when you visit. If there is a more perfect bakery, I have yet to find it. We make it a habit to stop here every single time we come to Dallas. Anytime someone tells me they're going to be in the area, I send them the address and always get a 'thanks for the recommendation' text later. Absolutely amazing! Sometimes I walk here from my apartment on nice days then enjoy a good coffee and breakfast on their cute patio. They are very friendly inside and quick with the coffee. I've got coffee and tea here before and it is all good. For breakfast, I usually get the veggie quiche. It is so creamy and delicious with the eggs, cheese, mushrooms, and spinach. I always say I'm going to try something new but have to keep getting this. The crust is perfect with it too. I also got the chicken salad croissant to have for lunch. Every bite was delicious and it was a large portion. The croissant was so flaky you can eat them by theirselves. But with the chicken salad made a very good lunch. read more

The rest of the food items are in the bag but the coffee tasted like milk. I could barely taste the coffee. The almond pear tart was alright. If it's supposed to be eaten cold like I ate it, the pears were fresh but aside from that it didn't really have any distinct flavors. I wish I had a picture of the banana muffin but my boyfriend really really liked it. The chocolate almond crossaint had an after taste, not sure if it was the vanilla or glaze for the almonds but we did not enjoy it. Aside from that, the place looked busy and it was a nice aesthetic. The lot is tight, and I've definitely driven past a couple times and went home when I couldn't find a space :-(. These days, I sometimes just "DoorDash it" and keep things easy. It's my first time visiting VBC, and Andy and Joaquin were super sweet and awesome! They're super friendly and gave me good recommendations! I loved their cortado with honey, cinnamon and oat milk! The vibes of the shop were super cozy I stayed there for a while to wait on my dad who was at the barber shop next door! I have some others on my list to go to but this one is very close to the airport so it's a good stop by. This would be a good place to catch up with friends or study for a bit. The staff will help you make some selections, choose the appropriate packaging, and will even craft you a great cup of coffee. Nothing but good vibes here. 1 Star. Food - Every item is good, from the flaky croissants or the many cakes. But I go to Village Baking for Kouign-amann and laminated brioche. The Kouign-amann combines sweet, salty, sticky, buttery, crispy, flaky, and tender elements. It has a hint of caramel. Try this: carefully break into its flaky center, take a bite, then chase it with black coffee. Repeat until there is none left. The laminated brioche also has multiple layers of butter which results in a flaky and layered texture. When you sink your teeth into the buttery brioche it unravels in delicate, flaky layers with every bite. Also goes well with black coffee. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Only if I'm in the area. The good news is Village Bakery has multiple locations throughout Dallas and the pastries are all excellent. The bad news is the Oak Lawn location isn't as accessible as other location. This is a small, quaint and cute coffee shop I stumbled upon. It's was a hot day so I was craving something cold and even though this is a coffee shop, the iced tea was not bad. The server suggested their personal drink which was iced tea sweetened with lavender and honey. I loved it! I'm also a very avid tea drinker. Location 9/10, service 10/10, iced tea 8.5/10. The place is very small and cramped. I wouldn't recommend the spinach feta croissant it tasted awful, and I'm pretty sure the spinach was canned. My husband enjoyed the pretzel croissant, which was a unique twist, but his coffee was burnt. Service was just average. Overall, I don't see a reason to return. read more

I love a good bakery and this place is . So many different croissants and pastries to choose from. This is a great place to come study or just get a quick bite, just be aware that parking is limited. The one thing I must mention is that they had music playing and it took me back to my childhood. They were playing redone versions of Pokémon songs from the original games and I absolutely loved it! I hate to write such a bad review because every worker I've encountered at a Village Baking Co. has been very friendly and helpful; I want to stress that this review is not a reflection on them. When I first tried VBC's pastries at the Bishop Arts location, I found them to be bit stale and disappointing. I didn't want to judge them based on that experience alone because I went there later in the day and most of their reviews are so positive. I decided to order their buche de Noel (yule log) for Christmas. When I went to pick it up on Christmas Eve at the bakehouse location on Woodall, I was a little surprised at how small it was for the price that I paid ($56 with tax). It measured approximately 9.25 inches. But hey...quality over quantity. If it's delicious, I don't mind paying that price. When I took my first bite on Christmas Day, I suddenly became grateful that it was so small. Have you ever had something so sweet that it creates a numbing sensation on your tongue? Like your tongue's taste buds can't process that much sweetness at once so it temporarily freezes? I'm not exaggerating when I say this cake was inedibly sweet. I'm a person who likes dessert to be on the sweeter side, but this was too much even for me. I told my family I got the coffee flavor, and my mom asked me if they gave me the wrong one because she couldn't taste the coffee. Well, I couldn't either because all I could taste was sugar. The texture did nothing to mitigate the situation. The sponge cake was paradoxically both extremely dry AND too wet (you can see what I'm talking about in my picture). I suspect the baker brushed a little too much simple syrup on the cake to moisten it up. My family and I could only eat a couple bites of our slices. I'm at a loss about what to do with the rest of the cake. I hate wasting food (and especially a cake that costs $56), but we honestly can't bring ourselves to eat another slice. Maybe this was a quality control issue and a one-off problem, but when you're charging that much for a cake, you can't make such a rookie baking mistake. Alternatively, if this is how they intended their cake to taste, then I find that even more disappointing. I would have been better off buying the $9.99 Tom Thumb yule log. Even if it was equally as bad as this cake, at least the financial hit wouldn't be as painful. I've had some bad yule logs, but nothing quite so inedible as this one. read more

They sell freshly bakery and brew coffee. They have a good selection for the bakery, including the quiche, pastry, cake, cookies. The staff will help you reheat the bakery if you want to. Food: Bacon Jalapeños croissant (5/5) - This is the best croissant I have in the US!! The pastry is very buttery and crispy. Filled with a whole piece of bacon (still very juicy, not burnt and dry), and a good spice from the Jalapeños. The cheese also melt in with the bacon, jalapeños and pastry. This is definitely a place to go if you're having a lackadaisical morning and have time to go at your own pace. We order two jalapeño bacon (and cheese) croissants and a quiche Loraine! All of the food items were delicious, and I will definitely be taking my husband to try this place in person. When we went it was fairly empty, there were plenty of places to sit and someone working outside on the patio. There is almost ZERO parking, so definitely come during the odd hours, or drive around and try to find street parking. For drinks we got a cold brew and Carmel latte.
