I'm a huge blue cheese fan, and I'm always looking for ways to get blue cheese in my mouth. I saw that this place offered a blue cheese class and proceeded to immediately sign up and throw my money at them. You walk in and there is a large cheese counter, a large wine display, a seating area, and an overall very homey, intimate vibe. I was fortunate to have a very fun table and loved everyone I sat and chatted with. The owner was great, very personable and his care clearly comes across in his craft. In the class we sampled 4 wines and 8 cheeses. What I loved besides the fact that each cheese was downright delicious, was that each cheese had its own personal story, flavor profile, and distinct taste. I was chocked at the quality of the cheese, how creamy they all were, and how different they all tasted! I was able to definitely learn a lot and was able to dive into different cheeses in my favorite category. I had great company, and was introduced to some great wines and cheeses. I recommend checking this spot out for a class and obviously stopping by to check out the delicious cheeses they have. You will not be disappointed, and I'm already planning another trip back! P.s. Is true what they say.. you CAN rate a grilled cheese sandwich as a 5 star! This restaurant is located inside the Dallas Farmers Market- tucked away in a nice corner. Since so many people had given such great reviews we decided to try it. We ordered the Sweet italian- which has prosciutto and burrata cheese ( a cremier version of mozzarella). The prosciutto was crispy and the cheese just melted in your mouth. We also got the grilled cheese which had cheddar and we added tomatoes and peppers. OMG! The combination of the melted cheese with the fresh tomatoes and the slightly tangy peppers was to die for! Both come warm and buttery toasted (some of their sandwiches are cold tho). The people there were also very nice and knew all things cheese. A must try if you like cheese in its simplest but still goodest form. read more

For around $25 you can have the knowledgeable and courteous staff assemble a wonderful board here complete with select artisan cheeses and meats. We went with several aged Goudas, a fairly sharp aged Cheddar and a brie. All the cheeses were mouth-watering excellent as was the accompanying Prosciutto​ and spiced salami. The board was finished with crackers, bread, nuts, figs, raisins and dried apricots. This is easily the best American cheese shop I have ever been in and it is one of my favorite places in Dallas to visit every time I am back home in the city for a few hours or days. The parking situation is just terrible if you aren't close enough to uber in from your hotel/office; have someone else drive you; or just walk over from the Equinox for some post-workout cheese like a real Charlie Kelly would do ... cuz that's how I found this place originally, no shame. The parking situation is a few spots out front off Oak Lawn but those are the worst since you need to wait for a traffic lull to back out onto the busy street (Cliffs notes: you will be waiting a long time until someone finally takes pity on you, stops, and holds up traffic for you.) Your other option is park round back where there isn't enough room to maneuver if some hick with a huge monster truck parks behind you. This is Oak Lawn, your kind are not welcome here, truck people. Parking situation aside once you get in here, it is glorious heaven - if you like cheese. If you are lactose intolerant this might be like Tina Belcher's twice-warmed over fires of Hell Jail. They have all the fix-ins besides the cheese if you are buying a lot of cheese to host a wine and cheese type of party; or just any kind of special occasion that merits wine (pretty much every occasion besides your son's little league baseball game) and nice cheese (every occasion.) They also have the wine, but I get my wine at the Trader Joe because I buy in ridiculous bulk when I find something I like. Because you can pour wine into a soda can and that's a pretty smart move since you don't need to deal with a wine glass, so you can take the wine to-go in a can of Dr. Pepper anywhere you would take the can of Dr. Pepper. Frank Reynolds was a smart man. A review of just their cheeses would be a whole separate review by yelp's limiting character counter on reviews but suffice it to say whether you kinda like cheese okay a bit or you have a Ph.D in cheese, you can find something exhilarating in their glass display case. But what makes it one of my favorite places in Dallas are the made-to-order artisan sandwiches for lunch. The sandwiches are only $8.50 and come with a small side salad. Their sandwiches bring out my inner Liz Lemon trying to locate her annual teamster sub. I take sandwiches seriously, and so does Scardello. They do not fuck around with the art of sandwich making. Subway might call their employees sandwich artists, but Scardello has what I have independently determined to be sandwich artistés and that is obviously hella better with that accent mark there, it is French. The boys behind the counter do not rush preparing the sandwich. They do it one at a time. It's nothing like the Subway assembly line where they do it as quickly as they can to get rid of you. Here the boys pay particular and close attention to each ingredient and carefully add them in and pile them on like they are playing a game of Operation. The kitchen prep area is all out in the open. They have nothing to hide about their food or food prep, so I like how much they stand behind what they do. It's so easy to fall in love with Scardello as a biz. The Sweet Italian is my absolute fave. This sandwich alone could stop World War III if we only give it the chance. The thinly sliced prosciutto and the decadent burrata are an excellent pairing to channel all of the elegance possible out of the realm of the savory. The fig confit is fabulous to bring the sweetness like a hooker with a heart of gold. You have not had a sandwich until you have eaten this sandwich. All hail the glow cloud, through whom made Raptor Jesus and the Sweet Italian possible. If the Sweet Italian doesn't float your boat because the prosciutto scares you off after all those episodes of The Sopranos that took place at Satriale's, the Mountaineer is another strong choice to bring you down to flavor town. This is one of the best grilled cheeses ever. I try to reserve a five star yelp rating for a biz that truly deserves it as the model of everything that makes me happy in life, like Scardello. Came here on a Thursday around 3:30 and it was pretty empty! You can choose a cheese only or cheese and meat plate. For a cheese plate can choose about 3-4 cheeses. Everyone was super helpful and we were able to say the kind of cheeses we like and we were given 4 absolutely delicious cheeses and the plate was huge for 2 people. You pay based on weight so if you pick more cheeses then you get less of each cheese but more variety. I think for next time I may pick 5-6 cheeses cause the cheeses we had were delicious but also huuuuge quantities. Along with the cheese we also got dried figs, dried apricots, almonds and I think hazelnuts. Along with the cheese plates there's a huge selection of wines. We went with the rose. Overall I loved my experience here and can't wait to come back and try more cheeses and wine. read more

Thankfully the counter staff guided through the process and provided numerous samples and recommendations. They mainly offer only cheese but also had a selection of sandwiches and salads. They is about 2-3 tables but wasn't crowded on a weekday for lunch. Items were high quality and would recommend highly if your cheese cravings are strong. For a group of 3, a cheese plate with a selection of 3 cheeses (1/8th lb portion per cheese) assembled into a very good sized appetizer and fitting for a light meal for 3! We came here for the beer vs wine smackdown class and it was great. We reserved this months in advance and since we had enough people, we had the class to ourselves. However, this would equally be enjoyable if you came as a small group as the table sizes are usually 4-6 people. The space is small and intimate and it is a grocery shop during the day. There is only one bathroom, but it wasn't an issue. The instructors were good about letting us know what we were tasting and a quick backstory behind each item including local references. I am sure their other classes are great as well and even though it may seem pricey, you get a decent amount to sample and all of it is top notch. I hope to be back to another class soon! read more

I love this place. It's my go-to for an interesting cheese board. They have amazing variety and because there are no pre-fixed boards, you never get the same thing twice ( unless you make your own board). I like the option of picking out my favorites, or showing up in a French cheese mood and ask for some surprises--a great way to find new favorites. These folks know cheese. If you're looking to learn about cheese, I highly recommend their Cheese 101 class. We were given a gift card to the store, so we signed up for the class. It's $40 per person, and it's worth it! You're given a large cheese board with many cheeses to sample, and well as two glasses of wine. The owner of the shop leads you through the different cheeses, telling you how each one was made and the flavors in them. He guides you through tasting the cheese and the accompanying items (like caramels, fruits, etc) that bring out certain flavors in the cheese. It's a small shop, so you will be seated at tables with other people, and our table became fast friends. It's a great way to spend an evening.
