We decided to have lunch at the indoor Farmers Market and came across Scardello Grilled Cheese. We ordered the cheese, prosciutto with mustard and onion jam and had to wait about 5-10 for it to be prepared. We sat at a table nearby and my goodness, it was so good. The bread was perfectly toasted and buttery, the cheese was piping hot and melty, combined with the prosciutto and onion jam, bought the taste to a whole another level. The sandwich was $12 and they cut it in half. It was so reasonably priced. The staff there were super friendly and welcoming and even came out to chat to see how we were. Have to say, we were so impressed, we came back again the next day, ordering the exact same sandwich, as it was that good!!! before flying back home. This was my first time at the Dallas Farmer's Market, and I was intrigued by their grilled cheeses, complete with two toppings of your choosing. I ordered one with caramelized onions and onion jam. It was amazing - crispy, delicious, and so flavorful. The cheese was the star of the show! Service was great - everyone was very friendly and helpful. They even gave the person I was with an extra sheet of parchment paper and napkins to share with me. There are only 4 bar seats to sit and seat, but we were able to snag two. It can be a little crowded on the weekends, but it was still a nice, buzzing environment. I also think they do a notably good job of cleaning the grill in between sandwiches, which was appreciated. I would love to see them clean the knife as well between them, but overall, I would return! read more

Wow I never thought I would be writing a 5 star review for a fancy grilled cheese sandwich but hot dang! Here I am writing about this fantastic cheese restaurant/cheesemonger. I actually ordered the the sweet Italian for my kiddo. She loved the bread but the jelly aspect as not up her alley. Now I tried it out and eagerly gobbled it right up. The bread was perfection. The Italian cheese was melted just right. The meat, which I forget what it was, was delicious. The best part and what brought it all together was the jam. It wasn't a normal Smuckers jam it was something unique and flavorful. I'm so glad we came across this place, and super happy that my daughter was meh, because I really hit the jackpot on the grilled cheese sandwich. So it is true what they say... You CAN have a grilled cheese sandwich that rates 5 stars We ordered 2 of them while visiting the farmers market as we were hungry but didn't want a "full" meal. The cheese was probably one of the creamiest ones I have ever tasted. The bread was fresh, and it was warm and soft. I could not believe someone could be so rude and nasty to potential customers as the staff here. We literally watched the staff be so horrible to customers at least three walked out. The farmer's market location is very modest, but has tasty and affordable food that keeps me coming back. I can't pass up the salads from the menu. I usually order from the bar area, and the food comes out so fresh. I love how they hand make my salads with so much care and attention to detail. Pretty tasty sandwiches if you're looking for something not as heavy as most of the food available at the Farmer's Market. We tried the Snitch and the NBT, both served on crusty French bread. The Snitch was flavorful and more meaty than the NBT, with the NBT being much more on the sweet side. Each was tasty and filled their respective roles well. The shop itself is quaint, though set up in a slightly confusing way. There are two bar seats with menus hanging above them, but you actually order from an alcove on the opposite side (where the menus are repeated). I had no clue the nondescript bags on top of the cheese case were chips, so I had to go hunting elsewhere in the building to get chips, which I consider pretty standard sandwich fare. Seating is open and shared with a few other surrounding restaurants. There is a small selection of wines and other higher-end cooking wares like olive oil. You won't find a ton of selection, but each item looked high quality. I can't speak much to their cheese since we didn't buy any, but the case had a fair selection and the original Oak Lawn location is well-known in the realm of Dallas cheese, so I would assume the experience here would be similar. My wife and I enjoyed our sandwiches (protip: pair with chips from Cajun Tailgators across the aisle), and it was nice not to eat something super heavy before wandering around the Farmer's market. read more

I've come here for a few times for the Thurs-Sat wine and cheese nights and found it to be quite fun! I wish they gave you more wine for the price but it's still a good experience. I'm actually quite fond of their pre-made cheese plates. Although they can be pricey at $16 a pop it includes 3 cheeses, some dried fruit and a few crackers. Love that Scardello has a shop at the Dallas Farmers Market. I've been to a class of theirs in Oak Lawn and loved it. So my review of this is subject to happy hour, I hope. There is a sign near the register that notifies the server to serve the old cheese that needs to be "moved" for the cheese plate. I understand the business side of this, but it prevented me from purchasing a cheese plate. The server also mentioned that the business threw away an "ungodly amount of cheese." This is not the way to get me to purchase any product from your establishment. Also, having wine out of a keg was a new experience. The server allowed me to sample, and I ended up purchasing a glass of cabaret franc. I'm a freak about only drinking wine out of glass, so not having the option and being forced to drink wine out of a plastic cup is not a plus. Decent prices during happy hour. read more

Scardello does have a nice selection of cheese, but it's very pricey. They don't have anything that rare or unusual that can't be found at other places. We've visited the Farmers Market location twice. The first time they forgot to put one of our items in the bag and we didn't notice it until we were at our destination (2 hours away). We went again recently and bought a charcuterie board. When I ordered the board the employee Alejandro asked if I wanted everything on it, which I replied I did. What he neglected to specify is that "everything" was going to drive the price up to $90. I should have just said I didn't want it, but I assumed that it would be a wonderful board for that price. I was told I had to pre pay, and I did, but when the board was ready I said I didn't want it. It was nowhere near worth $90 (picture attached to this review). He insisted I take it and wouldn't entertain the idea of a refund. I would sum Scardello up by saying they have nice products but they way overcharge and neither the product or the customer service live up to the price. Also, their main location on Oak Lawn is still not fully open to the public. This seems very strange to me considering most businesses are open now in the wake of vaccinations and COVID decreasing. Maybe this is why they have to charge $90 for a inadequate charcuterie board. read more

The cheese is delicious. But every time I am in the market, I watch the people working there touch everything with their gloved hands before they touch your cheese. It's like they do not understand why the gloves are to be worn. At this exact time, I watched a woman working there touch the top of the case, her face, and a pen with her gloved hands. People, fix this terrible hand hygiene issue and I will buy something other than wine here. I told a worker about it once and apparently it has not been noted.
