We walked into this place during a short visit in the area after the smell caught our attention while passing by. It was definitely inviting! There was already a line when we arrived, but it moved quickly. The cashier and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They answered all of our questions about the menu and the different items, which was appreciated since it was our first time there. After ordering, we found our own table, and they brought our food out once our number was called. We decided to share a burger and fries, along with an order of chili cheese fries and onion rings. The sides were the highlight of the meal, they were tasty and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the burger itself fell a little flat. The patty was missing seasoning and flavor, and we ended up adding our own salt and pepper mixture just to give it a little more life. Overall, I wasn't as impressed with the food as I hoped I would be. I'm not sure we'd return specifically for the food, but we might come back to give the desserts a try. We didn't get a chance to order any during this visit since we were already full and short on time while exploring Dallas. Definitely give it a try and decide for yourself!!!

As we were walking down the street, the smell of burgers on the grill pulled us in. We were excited because the aroma promised something special, but unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the first impression. The burger lacked flavor and tasted like it was missing the care and seasoning that makes a great burger memorable. We ended up adding our own salt and pepper just to bring it to life. On the bright side, the chili cheese fries and onion rings were both really good and ended up being the highlight of the meal. I have no complaints about the service or the atmosphere. The staff was pleasant, and the restaurant itself was comfortable. I just wish the burger had matched the amazing smell that brought us through the door in the first place.

I recently visited Hunky's and left pretty disappointed with the food overall. I ordered the double cheeseburger, fries, and strawberry cake after hearing positive things about the place, but the meal did not live up to expectations. The biggest letdown was the burger. The meat was dry, underseasoned, and lacked flavor altogether. Even with the toppings and cheese, it still tasted bland and did not have the juicy, fresh quality you would expect from a burger spot with such a strong reputation. The fries were okay but nothing memorable or standout. I also tried the strawberry cake, which was decent, but it was not enough to save the overall experience. The atmosphere was fine and the service was acceptable, but based on the food alone, I was underwhelmed and expected much better quality and flavor for the price.

Hunky's is a great burger spot. From the time you walk in until the time you leave it's a very welcoming environment. The staff were extremely attentive and sociable. They have such a large variety of food, but their emphasis is definitely on burgers. From bison to grass fed to chicken and the list goes on. My burger was cooked to perfection. It was so juicy and well seasoned without being overly seasoned. I loved that they had wheat buns which were served warmed. The tots were hot and fresh. The desserts are plentiful. They even have margaritas. The restaurant was clean. I would visit Hunky's again no doubt., and recommend you do the same.

Another delicious reason to add bishop art district to your visit list when going to Dallas. This place is a casual spot for lunch and even offers $6 margaritas which we definitely ordered (not shown). Our cashier was helpful with us being first timers and we sat down at a table then waiting for our food to be brought to us. I would 100% recommend this spot if you want a casual spot for lunch while walking around this cute spot on the outskirts of downtown dallas. The hula chicken sandwich was the perfect mix of savory and sweet while having the crunch of bacon.

This cute diner spot was a quick and easy choice while we were in the bishop arts district. It's nice that they have a more casual and quick option down there. The cheeseburger was loaded up with veggies, which was appreciated. The burger was like any other fast food burger in my opinion, except that I did think that it had fresher veggies on it. The service was great and he brought out some ranch upon request.

Monday afternoon stop, here is what we liked. * Immediate seating, order at the counter than your choice table or booth. * lots of burger options and then some other sandwiches, salads and sides available. * Fries were hot. * Burgers were a good size, the double was a good amount of meat. Was a good burger, wouldn't say great. What could of been better: * I get it, stuff happens. The AC was out so it was a bit humid and warm in there. Not holding that against them. * While the fries were hot, they needed salt. Adding it at the table isn't the same. * The corn elote bites were weird. Love some corn elote, this wasn't it. * The bottle Coke was just warm- needed to be cold. Overall a good visit and a solid burger joint , would do again.

Hamburger - Double with sweet potato fries my fav

Love my double hamburger with sweet potato fries. My favorite burger joint. Of course the building is total throwback to the 1960s diners. A fun place to hang out with family and friends. It would have gotten 5 stars but they forgot my choc shake. Probably needed to save those calories anyway.

Delicious quick burger stop. The employees were all very friendly and inviting as soon as we walked in. I got the Double double and it was huge and so perfectly cooked. They also have the tempura onion rings, which are my favorite, and the fried pickles were the perfect ratio of pickle to batter. My husband had the patty melt and said it was a pleasant surprise that it came on rye bread, which looked fantastic. Thanks for a great lunch!

It's a nice concept of a diner and I like how you order up front and then bring your number to the table. For my taste, the hamburger could have used a bit of extra seasoning or grease to give it a depth of flavor. It didn't quite taste like it was cooked on that well seasoned griddle like at other burger joints. A cute little little spot in a cute part of town but might try something new next time I'm in that hood.

This was a very tasty old fashioned hamburger. It kinda reminded me of a Sonic burger, but this one had GRASS-FED BEEF. Any burger using grass-fed, hand shaped patties are A+ with me. The restaurant was a cute diner design. The girl taking my order was nice and she answered all my questions due to it being my first time there. Oh don't let me forget to mention the Margarita. It was so good. I got a small, should have gotten the large!

Traditional burger joint, but what I really enjoyed was that they have a lovely kids menu for children under six. The cheeseburger was your traditional burger nothing too fancy. customer service was pleasant, professional, and timely.. The facility was clean but crowded.

My favorite burgers are the classic and the chili cheeseburger, which is not a big gooy burger you have to eat with a fork but has just the right amount of chili and chili sauce on it and just a delicious flavor. This unassuming restaurant tucked in a corner of nondescript row of stores has stood the test of time. My first review of the place was in 2013. Here it is 13 years later then it is still going strong. I went for lunch with the family on a snow day. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. No numbers, they just remember who you are. I always get combo number 1 and add sweet potato fries. The prices are great and not much more than McDonalds but the difference in value is significant. The burgers are not thick but this time I noticed the double burger (#2) is just a couple of bucks more than the the single patty in #1. Note to self for next time. Although the patty is thin, the flavors work. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. No ketchup, you add that yourself. The bun with sesame seeds always comes out piping hot. Sweet potato fries are crispy and not greasy. The combo comes with a drink for $10.99. That's a deal. I hope they stay in business another 13 years!

The neighborhood may continue to change around it, but Chip's remains the same. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Chip's has an old school, nostalgic feel. The restaurant has an iconic sloping roof with a yellow outdoor exterior and a big green sign with its logo. Inside, there are plenty of booths, a bar, and even outdoor seating. Chip's has grown and expanded over the years but to me that adds to the nostalgic charm. 1 Star. Service - Chip's may have invented counter service. Upon entering, you look at the menu posted on the wall and place your order. You'll get a number (or they'll ask for your name), and you grab a table, and when your food is ready it comes out. Fast, efficient, and the staff was super friendly. 1 Star. Food - Chip's is known for its poppy seed hamburger buns. While it's pretty and tasty, the most important part, the patty, is pretty average. Honestly, there are many other great burger joints in Dallas. On the other hand, the fried onion strings are a must order for your side. While I wasn't a fan of the burger, the fried onion strings saved my meal. The Oreo and Fresh Banana shakes were also a nice cold, creamy, sweet ending to my meal. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I hope Chip's never changes. The restaurant has an iconic look, it's part of Dallas history, and the staff is great. 1 Star.

We ordered the fried mushrooms to start, and they were so hot that one of us severely burned her lower gums on them. Seriously! A prescription from the dentist was sought; mea culpa but damn. Once they were less volcanic, they were good. We split a burger with fried onions, and it was dry. The meat was overbooked, the bun was over toasted, and the whole thing needed plenty of beer to go down smoothly. The fries are fine, and we did appreciate that they had some steamed broccoli on the menu. Our daughter was happy with her kids cheeseburger meal, and she did like the chocolate-caramel malt shake she scored at the end. A main reason that we're landing on three stars is the ice cream situation. One of us ordered a soft serve vanilla, and nobody told her that the machine was down, so what she got instead was a cup of half melted Blue Bell soup...are you kidding! Thanks for the prompt refund, but letting your customer know what the situation is in advance goes a long way. So, we tried it. Add a notch to the Dallas belt. We wish them well, but we won't be returning. There are better burgers in DFW.
