Patient and efficient, covering all questions you may have. Food? TDF all of the way! Let's get down to it...my friend ordered the cheeseburger, I ordered the hamburger in my normal "when Harry Met Sally" way...all of the standard accouterments, however with EXTRA tomato slices, light mustard and heavy mayo (an addition). We shared the fries and onion rings...WOW! What truly impressed me was the fact that the fried food, while fried, was not greasy in the least. Just crispy and delicious. I only reached for napkins after each burger bite due to the fact that the burger was so incredibly juicy. I visited the Maple & Motor on Maple Avenue in the Dallas Medical District after hearing it frequently listed among Dallas' "Best Burgers," so I finally had to try for myself. I visited late on a Friday afternoon. This location has a small countertop bar, along with a variety of two and four top tables. The overall vibe is very basic and functional with no discernible style or decor. I ordered their cheeseburger, onion rings, and a draft beer. The burger is a hefty half-pound patty with classic toppings, and the onion rings are the thick-cut variety with a heavy batter. The service was non-existent self-serve. They take your order from a walk-up cash register where you have to stand in line, order, and get a number. One lady took all the orders while others just stood around doing nothing. When the food is ready they drop it by the table. Everyone seemed bored and unhappy. The burger was good, large, cooked perfectly, and enjoyable--but ultimately just a standard flat-top burger. The bun gave out and crumbled before I could finish leaving me needing a fork to get the last bites. Stopped by Maple and motor again for a burger after hanging out at cidercade for a bit. Since it was a Thursday night, parking was extremely easy and the restaurant was not crowded. I highly recommend stopping by here on a week night if you are in the area. When you walk in you'll approach the counter, order with the cashier, and they'll hand you a number. There is open seating throughout the restaurant and the food runners will bring you your food. I ordered a cheeseburger with grilled onions and American cheese. The burger was excellent and by far one of the better burgers in Dallas. It's hard to find a good burger in Dallas these days. Stopped by Maple & Motor as it came highly recommended from a friend. The location has plenty of onsite parking available. I went on a Thursday night around 7 pm, and it wasn't overly crowded and had plenty of seating inside. I opted for a cheeseburger with cheddar cheese plus added grilled onions and a runny egg. I asked for it to be pink versus not pink, and it was the right move. So good! All together with my additions, the burger was $12. Not crazy expensive, but for the quality it's a bit pricier than similar burgers elsewhere. However, the flavor was very good and it was filling. I also shared cheese fries with the bacon and jalapeño on top. I was not expecting the jalapeños (plus the carrots randomly) to be pickled, and it wasn't really my jam. Next time I would go for the tots. I give it four stars for how delicious the burger was. It's honestly plenty of food with the burger alone. read more

Like other reviews have mentioned I have no clue how this is one of the top burger spots in Dallas. Mediocre wouldn't even describe. The minute I put the burger in my mouth a taste of fish hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm not sure if they're grilling the burger alongside their salmon burgers or what... they don't use pickle but instead a goofy relish with little flavor. They also bury the lettuce on bottom under the beef leaving almost a rancid taste. Makes no sense. Our whole table agreed we would never return. read more

Meh, overrated. With all the glowing reviews I've read about this place, I was expecting more. It is a decent classic diner / backyard / ballpark-style burger. But it didn't have any juiciness or greasy goodness. It reminded me somewhat of a California-style burger..but while M&M patty may have had a better sear and salt, it was definitely inferior overall in flavor to In-N-Out. I'd compare it more to maybe a Johnny Rockets, and that's not saying much. Onion rings were also a bit disappointing.. Classic breading like a beer batter, they were cooked dark but very greasy. And I mainly tasted oil. Service was the third let down..I don't know if not giving a shit is their schtick, but I could have done without the cold attitude. I visited Maple & Motor today with my five sons (ages 4 to 14) after a trip to the zoo. It's a small space, but we found a spot, ordered a lot of food, and paid for two sodas. I also had my boys get four water cups and told them to fill them with water only. The water dispenser wasn't working properly, and I even went over to try to help them with it. While we were waiting for our food, the cashier came over and, in front of my children and other customers, accused us of not paying for lemonades. I explained that I had watched my kids struggle with the dispenser and that we were not trying to take anything without paying. To be respectful, my boys immediately went back and poured the cups out -- and it still dispensed the same way. The issue wasn't being asked; it was the rude and public way it was handled. It was embarrassing and unnecessary, especially in front of young kids. We were made to feel like we were doing something wrong when we weren't. Despite this, I still left a tip. Unfortunately, the experience left such a bad impression that we won't be returning. There are plenty of great burger places in Dallas with much better customer service. read more

I really don't know what took me so long to finally eat here but I am so glad I did. I ordered two cheeseburgers for takeout and the food was genuinely ready within 8 minutes of me placing the to go order, which was impressive on a Friday night. I am of the opinion that the best burgers are smash style with house sauce, so I was so incredibly impressed by the fact that this burger blew my mind despite not having either of these qualities. For being a thick patty it was so juicy and just a classic, delicious burger. Cheese was great, toppings were great, absolutely no complaints. Portion was huge, and I am happy to support a small business paying $35 for two burgers and a side of fries over a chain any day. The fries were nothing special, just classic salted diner style fries that complemented the burger nicely. There were several other customers dining in and still ordering when I came in. Its a small space to dine and carry out. I reviewed the menu while another customer ordered her food. While ordering thr cashier kept cutting me off, which made me 4get to add bacon until another patron asked was bacon ordered on hers, so I added it and the cashier seemed irritated to add it. If she hadn't been interrupting me while I was ordering then she wouldn't have had to go back to add it. I dined it since it was raining I wanted to wait out the storms. Burger was received in about 5 mins. It was prepared correctly and fresh. It was a nice size. However, It was pricey and nothing to write home about. The energy was dry and weird in here. Mexican Coke at the fountain (never seen that before!), but there was no yummy smells in the air. Ok, I arrived on a Saturday at opening so I cut them some slack. FRIES I asked for crispy fries and got them the way I like. (Most places fail this test.) Excellent crunch, salt/pepper, soft center, and a perfect size. 10 out of 10. BURGER When it arrived I was impressed. Visually awesome. Extra lettuce, not greasy, and very thick bacon cooked properly. The patty had a good thickness and cook (medium). Then I took a bite. I could taste the lettuce, I could taste the bacon... but as the old TV commercial said, "Where's the beef!" I could not detect any amount of beef flavor. Very weird. I actually looked at my burger to see if I could tell what was wrong. The only thing I can come up with is that it's super lean, low quality beef with no salt, pepper or seasoning of any kind. 3 out of 10. Many, many places are better. When looking for utensils, he directed me and gave me a helpful recommendation to try the jalapeño ketchup they have - so good too! The meat is the juiciest burger patty I've had in probably 10 years. Cooked perfectly and practically had juice running down my arms! The French fries look simple but they have the perfect seasoning and the perfect crunch. The flavor is very unique too. Ambiance was really nice as well. For those who don't know how amazing Maple & Motor is, you might drive right on by and that, my friends, would be a mistake. My partner, originally from the Dallas area, took me there on our way out of town and it will definitely be worth a return visit. From the outside, it has that home-town, hole in the wall feel. The interior has tables and booths throughout and the wall décor felt so very nostalgic with pictures of the owner with visiting celebrities, newspaper clippings, and other random pieces strewn about - eclectic but cohesive. It was definitely a busy Saturday afternoon with a long line to get to the counter. Once we ordered, the owner was quick to find us a table and the staff was cleaning tables as fast as they were emptied so literally no wait after you've ordered. We both opted for burgers and decided to split a side of the beer-battered onion rings. The burger was juicy and flavorful, with a variety of toppings to choose from. The onion rings were clearly handmade and not from a frozen bag that came off a truck (or they have an amazing supplier). We were never rushed out the door to accommodate the line that literally never ended, but as soon as we were done, they were quick to clean our table for the next guests. Ordered cheeseburger for $10.45. It was okay.. required more seasonings. The french fries and tater tots costed $3.85 but were fantastic! These sides were tasty, but I was hoping my burger would've tasted good as well, it just missed the mark. The ranch is additional charge of $0.46. There is an automated merchant fee of 3.5% if paying with a credit card. They are busy during lunch hours and the seating is minimal. Very intimate area. After years of passing by and threatening to try their burgers I finally stopped and went in. The restaurant was clean and staff was friendly. It's basically order at the counter and take a number. $11 for a burger and $4 fries. The burger has a good size but it's unseasoned which shouldn't be a problem but it was dry and cold. Like it was precooked and thrown on the grill to shake off the cold. The fries were excellent kinda like how McDonald's used to be way back in the day. Getting back to the burger. It was dressed with the usual suspects lettuce, tomato, pickle, and shredded lettuce. The lettuce was soaking wet and made the burger fall apart. The buns were dry and not very tasty. Red onions were thinly sliced but I got the nasty outer part that has the texture of baling wire. To say I was underwhelmed is an overstatement. I expected the excellence that Jack Perkins is known for. Compared to the Slow Bone where I have NEVER had a bad experience is completely surprising to me. Would I recommend this place? Probably not. Maybe procure better bread and cook to order so at least you get a hot sandwich and tell the cook to quit cutting the patty to check for doneness. Probably is the reason it was dry AF.
