It's kinda' wonky to find where it is, but you can park in front or the back of the complex because it's all kind of a courtyard type thing, so just park and follow anyone going anywhere, but you'll be led inside the circle and look for the red scooters out front. This is a great place to meet a friend for a chat. The vibe is good, and it's a nice, open place, and it's not too noisy. The food is delicious, and it's presented in a most excellent fashion. I had the hot Italian stromboli. I don't know much about strombolis, but this was a really good one! My friend had the chef's board. I'd say that's the way to go if you wanna' just snack, sample, and share. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. I was there mid-afternoon on a Saturday, between lunch and dinner, and there was plenty of open seating. By the time we left, people were already in line to get in. Shout out to our server Richard. This is the location that turned us into North Italia fanatics for as far back as I can remember. Food quality, servers, managers, the vibe, located in the Hawaii feeling outdoor mall "The Point", and general feeling of your on vacation makes this one of the best places to visit if you haven't already. Food here over the years have evolved with some changes my wife and I wasn't too happy with after Cheesecake Factory bought them out. This last visit has reversed everything I didn't like about the changes and it literally has returned to its previous glory. Food was absolutely amazing this run! There's no way to describe how tender is and how easy it is to pull a piece away with your fork one handed. The polenta and mushrooms the ribs sit on have a super inviting taste. My wife doesn't like truffle sauces and that be the only thing I would switch out. Other than that the vegetables were still crispy but easy to chew. Perfect dish all around. Wild Shrimp Scampi is a must order for me. The shrimps are jumbo sized with a mix of flavors that's been improved since a few months ago. Burrata - Sweet vinaigrette, large chunks of fresh ripped tomatoes, crunchy toast and arugula is a 100% must order. The burrata cheese melts in your mouth. He hasn't changed a bit and remains charismatic giving benchmark setting service. This was my mom's first visit and he really impressed her that she is now ok with us traveling 25 miles to eat here again lol. Our experience at North Italia wasn't a good one. First off, the atmosphere is good, we sat outside with the heat lamps and were able to people watch, we were also seated in about 10 minutes on a busy Saturday evening. Secondly thanks to our waitress Tara who was super attentive and took care of us. She was good. Now down to the bad and the ugly. I understand it was busy, there were people running around the kitchen, tons of chefs, but that doesn't mean their signature dishes, the pastas, should be super bland and boring, you're an Italian restaurant. When you ask for salt for pasta at an Italian restaurant, you're in trouble. My Ricotta Cavatelli was horrible. Lump crab was more like limp crab. The pasta was bland, it was bad, salt couldn't help this dish. To top it off, there were two of us who ordered the dish and my bowl looked like it was a $5.99 lunch deal meal, such a small portion for an almost $30 bowl. It was sad. Tara took care of it though and comp'ed me another bland bowl of the Cavatelli dish. Thank you for making up for it a bit. Always a pleasure! It had been quite sometime (probably 2 years) since I had been to this location, but the bartender still remembered me from when I used to come regularly with my cousin. I'd come if I was in the area for convenience, but wouldn't come all the way here to eat at this restaurant. The roasted salmon was my favorite, especially the pest pasta that came with it. Salmon was tender, love the combo with pasta on the side which really fills you up. The spicy rigatoni was decent, but did not feel very special. It was spicy, had pieces of sausage in it, with the al dante pasta. For the price, I expected a bit more than just a regular rigatoni pasta with meat. To say this was the worse North Italia location that I've been to is an understatement. We were in Manhattan beach area on Sunday before Memorial Day and all the restaurants in the area were booked up. After checking Yelp, we noticed that there were a lot of available reservations for that night so I made it for 8:15pm. We arrived 10 min before our reservation time, checked in and the hostess mumbled something to me and just told me to wait, which I did for like 10min. I noticed that there were plenty of tables empty inside and decided to ask the hostess if my table is ready yet. Right away she realized it was ready and asked someone to walk me in. We walked up to a semi cleaned table that had clear leftover crumbs on it, which the hostess very quickly wiped it away with her hands.... We ignored all these issues and decided to enjoy dinner... as we sat there for 15 minutes waiting for a waiter, any waiter to come get us or even take our drink orders but no one came. My partner had to flag someone down and at the point we were already starving and ordered all the drinks, apps and entrees together. I got the pomegranate mule for drink. For food, we shared heirloom tomato burrata, black Mediterranean mussels, bolognese pasta and braised short rib marsala (we gotten the same entrees before at their other locations and they were some of our favs). Everything took forever to come out. We didn't eat until at least 45mjn i after ordering... * Heirloom tomato: basic, it was ok. Nothing to write home about * Black Mediterranean mussels: best dish of the night. Mussels were plump and juicy. Broth was very flavorful * bolognese pasta: lukewarm, tasted like it's been sitting out for awhile. portion size was smaller than other places. Wow! We hadn't eaten at North Italia since last year when I was slightly underwhelmed. Last night, on a whim, we, and another couple decided to make a last minute reservation at North Italia El Segundo. Located at The Point, a local shopping center, parking can be tough. But not tonight-the parking gods were with us and we nabbed a great space. The restaurant was packed with people waiting outside, but our 7;15 reservation was honored and we got right in. The restaurant is lively and very tastefully done for a chain restaurant. Our server greeted us and took our drink and food order at the same time, because let's be honest-we were hungry! We started with Arnold Palmers and Cokes because it was a dry Friday for all of us. Next came the Zucca Chips-lightly fried zucchini which were gobbled up by all of us. The pesto aioli was a great dipping sauce. We followed up with a Margarita Pizza- thin crust and actually very good. Our Little Gem Caesar Salad-grated grana padano, herb breadcrumbs, and black pepper was a winner as well. I secretly wanted to order a side of the croutons and dressing. For dinner three of us had the Wild Shrimp Scampi which is labeled as a small plate and is anything but. Blistered tomatoes, grana padano, garlic confit, herb butter, and charred lemon with pretty large wild shrimp made this scampi a winner. Dip the grilled bread in the sauce and you'll be in garlic heaven! We also had the Sunday Night Lasagna-braised short rib, Italian sausage, marinara, ricotta, and provolone. My husband said it was delicious but would not share a bite! For dessert, we shared the Tiramisu. I love the little chocolate balls they serve on top and literally want to buy a pound of them and eat them every day! Located in an open airy mall it was very intimate inside and service was great. I ordered the bolognese and so did my hubs but he had his with added meatballs and ricotta and it was a nice touch. I think I've officially been to most or all of the SoCal locations for North Italia, but it was my first time at my local one in El Segundo. The service was great, but the food was hit or miss (which tends to be the case with North Italia). After several experiences at various locations, I think I can safely say that their pastas are typically not that great. Below is everything I tried: 5/5 - White Truffle Garlic Bread: perfectly made, fluffy, flavorful, and overall delicious! My favorite appetizer here for a reason, haha. 4.5/5 - Margherita Pizza (+ Tie Dye sauce combo): simple, but still has a wonderful combination of flavors thanks to the Tie Dye sauce add ons and their always fantastic crust. 4/5 - Spicy Rigatoni Vodka: honestly my favorite pasta of theirs that I've tired so far, but still a step or two below some of the best in LA (like those at Jame or Donna's). 4/5 - Sicilian Margarita: el mayor reposado, grand marnier, montenegro, fresh citrus. Tasty and refreshing! 3.5/5 - Brookie Sunday: the brownie/cookie part just wasn't that great, but the dish was still enjoyable because of the wonderful ice cream and toppings, but they ideally shouldn't be the star of the dish. 3/5 - Bolognese (House Specialty): for their house specialty pasta this was quite disappointing, to quote my cousin: "This just tastes like a pasta I would make at home, and I'm no chef". My husband and I went to North Italia for drinks and appetizers at the bar and unfortunately had one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a long time. A group near us was on speakerphone/FaceTime at full volume for over 20 minutes, completely disrupting the atmosphere for everyone around them. We politely brought it to the attention of our server, who informed management. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the manager, Romo, came over and argued with my husband. What made it even worse was Romo's response that this is a "public open space" and people are apparently entitled to be on speakerphone as loud as they want, regardless of how disruptive it is to other paying customers. Since when did restaurants become acceptable places for people to blast FaceTime calls across the bar while everyone else is trying to enjoy their evening? If management truly believes basic courtesy and restaurant etiquette no longer matter, then that says everything about the standards here. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for other customers completely ruined the experience. We won't be returning. For clarification since management repeatedly called this a "public space" that is inaccurate. This is a privately owned business open to the public, not a public park or sidewalk. Management absolutely has the right to address disruptive behavior, including customers blasting speakerphone or FaceTime calls that disturb other paying guests. Decided to come here in efforts to beat LA traffic and thankfully we managed to get seated immediately because of my reservation. Based off the impressions from other recent reviews, I heard the talk of the town was the pizza so me and my friend decided to order a Neapolitan pizza with meatball to split. I additionally ordered a chicken parmesan, though with white sauce as opposed to the normal red sauce. This was recommended by our server as I gave him my preferences, to which he happily gave some nice suggestions on the menu! It did not take long to receive our meals either despite how busy it was. We first got our pizza and after trying it, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was! Normally, I do not find that ricotta compliments pizza that much. However, all the components of this pizza mixed very well together, and each bite was just so rich with flavor. The only downside with this pizza was how greasy the center was, but me and my friend managed. Afterwards, the chicken parm arrived and I dug into the chicken first. As expected, it was seasoned very well and was very juicy! The pasta on the other hand was not that amazing even though the texture of the pasta was perfect al dente in my opinion. The sauce reminded me of the classico white alfredo sauce in a jar, which brought me back to childhood. Nevertheless, it was a sauce that I did not enjoy as much as everything else. In terms of prices, most of the items are on the higher end compared to other restaurants I have had but nothing too unjustified. Overall, this is definitely a place I can remember for its pizza and I am open to trying other pizzas like their margherita in the future! read more
