I wanted to live this little spot. The hostess was polite and seated us quickly without reservations. The waitress took a while to greet and bring our water, but once she did our Arancini came out timely... they are a bit too salty, the sauce was good. Then our pizza and side of fries came out. The fries were literally cold, not warm, not hot... but cold. Then there's the Margherita pizza.. look at the photo.. it was greasy, flavorless and the dough had a flat taste. Best part was the basil. Our fries came out warm... not hot... when we were just about done with out pizza. I've passed by North Italia plenty of times over the years but never actually tried it. We had something to celebrate, so I decided to finally give it a shot, and I'm glad we ate here. I started with the s'more please cocktail, which reminded me of an old fashion with toasted marshmallows. I'm already a fan of old fashion, so I enjoyed the drink itself. Honestly, I don't think the marshmallows added much, but I definitely enjoyed eating them. We shared about 5-6 dishes. The White Truffle Garlic Bread was amazing--super soft, flavorful, and not overpowering. The Yellowtail Crudo was one of my favorites. The fish had great texture and quality, and all the salty, citrusy, creamy elements worked really well together. For the mains, the Seared Scallops with sweet corn risotto were a standout. The scallops were seared perfectly with great texture. The Braised Short Rib Lumache was also delicious, although the beef was a little richer than I personally prefer. We also had the Roasted Salmon with fregola and broccolini, which was cooked well and nicely balanced. Our server was amazing--attentive, helpful, and provided great service throughout the night. To begin, we have eaten at many North Italia restaurants and for whatever reason, we experienced very bad service tonight. Understandably it was Saturday night and we waited 30 minutes for a table and asked for the first available table. We were seated in the outside patio closest to the bar. It took a few minutes before our server asked for our order. Then she disappeared for 20 minutes. We had asked for bread and had already ordered a main course of branzino, fig and prosciutto pizza and a kids pizza, along with a arugula salad. 15 minutes later, we were without any food and needed a refill with no server in sight. I went to the manger and asked to be moved to an indoor booth or table and that we were not getting any service outside. We were moved and our new server apologized and advised that our food would be expedited by the chef. We still did not know whether our original order was placed?! Almost an hour after being seated, our salad and kids cheese pizza arrived along with bread and oil and vinegar dip. My daughter who is 5 years old even asked me if we were going to a different restaurant. I complained to the manger Mia who apologized and said she would address the issue with her staff and I still didn't get any answer as to why the food took so long to served. It was a very bad evening for service here. When I asked if the tip would go to the new server who took care of us and finally got our food, the manager said the new server would get the tip. To add insult to injury, the old server from the patio came by the table and picked up the check and tip. Really?! You didn't get us anything in the first place! Why did she deserve a tip?! I told Mia about this and again reminded her that the tip was for the new server who was empathetic to our disastrous evening. I normally don't write bad reviews for just service but this one takes the cake. The food is great at North Italia but isn't enjoyed at the expense of being ignored, marginalized or abandoned in a patio. I would suggest that the patio option is the least desirable place to eat because they forget about you out there. Out of sight and out of mind. We enjoyed Father's Day brunch the other day. It wasn't busy at 10:30 am. The pizza that we started with was delicious. I had the squid ink pasta, which didn't have much flavor as I remembered. This GF crust pizza was one of the suggestions...photos on the site looked decent enough. My friend is an El Segundo local and said it was good, and she was right! It's kinda' wonky to find where it is, but you can park in front or the back of the complex because it's all kind of a courtyard type thing, so just park and follow anyone going anywhere, but you'll be led inside the circle and look for the red scooters out front. This is a great place to meet a friend for a chat. The vibe is good, and it's a nice, open place, and it's not too noisy. The food is delicious, and it's presented in a most excellent fashion. I had the hot Italian stromboli. I don't know much about strombolis, but this was a really good one! My friend had the chef's board. I'd say that's the way to go if you wanna' just snack, sample, and share. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. I was there mid-afternoon on a Saturday, between lunch and dinner, and there was plenty of open seating. By the time we left, people were already in line to get in. Shout out to our server Richard. This is the location that turned us into North Italia fanatics for as far back as I can remember. Food quality, servers, managers, the vibe, located in the Hawaii feeling outdoor mall "The Point", and general feeling of your on vacation makes this one of the best places to visit if you haven't already. Food here over the years have evolved with some changes my wife and I wasn't too happy with after Cheesecake Factory bought them out. This last visit has reversed everything I didn't like about the changes and it literally has returned to its previous glory. Food was absolutely amazing this run! I came with my wife and mom (her first visit) and we ordered so much. Food: Braised Short Rib Marsala - The meat melts in your mouth. There's no way to describe how tender is and how easy it is to pull a piece away with your fork one handed. The polenta and mushrooms the ribs sit on have a super inviting taste. My wife doesn't like truffle sauces and that be the only thing I would switch out. Other than that the vegetables were still crispy but easy to chew. Perfect dish all around. Wild Shrimp Scampi is a must order for me. The shrimps are jumbo sized with a mix of flavors that's been improved since a few months ago. It's no longer swimming in grease and a joy to eat with the generous slices of toasted garlic bread. Burrata - Sweet vinaigrette, large chunks of fresh ripped tomatoes, crunchy toast and arugula is a 100% must order. The burrata cheese melts in your mouth. Ambiance - very lively and celebratory loud, this place is perfect for a fun date, a family gathering or even just to feel energize and enjoy an amazing atmosphere Service - Service at over the years have had hits and misses but the last 3 visits have been straight up amazing. Our latest server was with James again which was the server that first waited on us and made us feel welcome many years before pandemic years. He hasn't changed a bit and remains charismatic giving benchmark setting service. This was my mom's first visit and he really impressed her that she is now ok with us traveling 25 miles to eat here again lol. Managers and the host Friday night "Treya" not sure on spelling was awesome taking care of us. It's been a joy to see the menu improve by so much and all around service being so good again. Previous visits, Gunner and Wyatt (welcome back) are at the top of my short lists in best of the best in service. The staff here is why I spent 80% of my north Italia visits here. I decided to have my 55 th birthday dinner here, I've never eaten here before, but I'm glad we decided to try it. First of all the service was A+. Everybody here was super nice. We made reservations and got in right away and they accommodated our seating where we would like to sit was great. I walked around inside, even though we sat outside and the inside was really nice. I really like the bar area with the TVs. It looked really nice inside and would definitely come back and sit at the bar. Once we started ordering our food the appetizers were really good. I really liked the mushrooms and the garlic bread was super tasty. All of our dinners were cooked and served as we ordered them which was really nice and then once we got to dessert we we loving it. The desserts were super good. I really love the tiramisu and some of the other things that we ordered all looked really good. I would definitely come back and try a few different meals. Always a pleasure! It had been quite sometime (probably 2 years) since I had been to this location, but the bartender still remembered me from when I used to come regularly with my cousin. Sometimes it's nice to be remembered. Evening of Wednesday 1/28/26 and It got crazy busy as soon as I sat down but they did a great job. I decided to try something new so I got the hot honey and prosciutto pizza. I hate smoked meats with a passion so I subbed regular prosciutto for the smoked. First off, the atmosphere is good, we sat outside with the heat lamps and were able to people watch, we were also seated in about 10 minutes on a busy Saturday evening. I understand it was busy, there were people running around the kitchen, tons of chefs, but that doesn't mean their signature dishes, the pastas, should be super bland and boring, you're an Italian restaurant. When you ask for salt for pasta at an Italian restaurant, you're in trouble. My Ricotta Cavatelli was horrible. Lump crab was more like limp crab. The pasta was bland, it was bad, salt couldn't help this dish. To top it off, there were two of us who ordered the dish and my bowl looked like it was a $5.99 lunch deal meal, such a small portion for an almost $30 bowl. It was sad. Tara took care of it though and comp'ed me another bland bowl of the Cavatelli dish. Thank you for making up for it a bit. Overall it was a good experience with the atmosphere and service as it was sort of a family dinner with people who I haven't seen in a while. I'd come if I was in the area for convenience, but wouldn't come all the way here to eat at this restaurant. The roasted salmon was my favorite, especially the pest pasta that came with it. Salmon was tender, love the combo with pasta on the side which really fills you up. The spicy rigatoni was decent, but did not feel very special. It was spicy, had pieces of sausage in it, with the al dante pasta. For the price, I expected a bit more than just a regular rigatoni pasta with meat. The short rib plate looked amazing and I had the bolognese which was recommended to me the waiter and I am glad I went with his choice. The garlic cheese bread was okay. Great for date nights, groups, or solo at the bar. There can be quite a crowd in here, so reservations are recommended and don't mind the noise. Portions are on the larger side and good to share. Prices are a bit on the higher end, which feels reasonable for the quality and location. I recommend their pasta and pizza options, and the Prosciutto Bruschetta. Authentic, hearty and delicious. Located in an open airy mall it was very intimate inside and service was great. I ordered the bolognese and so did my hubs but he had his with added meatballs and ricotta and it was a nice touch. My som ordered a margherita pizza with added pepperoni, and MIL ordered a pasta with slow braised short rib which she enjoyed. The food was delicious. I even had leftovers. I think I've officially been to most or all of the SoCal locations for North Italia, but it was my first time at my local one in El Segundo. The service was great, but the food was hit or miss (which tends to be the case with North Italia). After several experiences at various locations, I think I can safely say that their pastas are typically not that great. However, the pizzas are always well made, and the Truffle bread is usually pretty amazing! The ambiance is usually nice too. Below is everything I tried: 5/5 - White Truffle Garlic Bread: perfectly made, fluffy, flavorful, and overall delicious! My favorite appetizer here for a reason, haha. 4.5/5 - Margherita Pizza (+ Tie Dye sauce combo): simple, but still has a wonderful combination of flavors thanks to the Tie Dye sauce add ons and their always fantastic crust. 4/5 - Spicy Rigatoni Vodka: honestly my favorite pasta of theirs that I've tired so far, but still a step or two below some of the best in LA (like those at Jame or Donna's). 4/5 - Sicilian Margarita: el mayor reposado, grand marnier, montenegro, fresh citrus. Tasty and refreshing! 3.5/5 - Brookie Sunday: the brownie/cookie part just wasn't that great, but the dish was still enjoyable because of the wonderful ice cream and toppings, but they ideally shouldn't be the star of the dish. 3/5 - Bolognese (House Specialty): for their house specialty pasta this was quite disappointing, to quote my cousin: "This just tastes like a pasta I would make at home, and I'm no chef".
