Came here on a Monday afternoon and enjoyed lunch here. The ambiance of the restaurant is relaxing and cute! The food was okay but the Steamed Mussels was the dish that stood out compared to the others we ordered. We had ordered the mimosa flight and a cocktail but it unfortunately never made it to our table. Came here for my boyfriend's graduation lunch. The place was pretty empty when we got here but it was peaceful. The service was nice and attentive. We were seated outside which looked pretty with their decor. We had the charcuterie board for an appetizer; that was ok. And we ordered the "From the Heights of Macau Picchu" pitcher which served about 5 of us. The drink was heavy in the alcohol which I liked. I met a friend 3 weeks ago on a Wednesday night so it was busy but not too crazy. We were seated by the fireplace which kept me Warm. We ordered and shared the turmeric cauliflower . I live turmeric so I devoured it all , I didn't leave much for my friend. I tried to be polite as much as I could but it was so good that I could not help it. For my entree, I ordered the fresh salmon salad. I made a bad decision by requesting to be well done that's why the fish was so dried that I could not finish it that's why I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5. My friend told me that the branzino was delicious that he almost ate the head. We shared the tiramisu for dessert. It was very good , not very sweet just the way I like it. read more

Nomad, south of LAX in El Segundo, has this way of being the perfect place to go when you're in the area and not really sure where else to go. It's unassuming. But tonight, the place had a stillness to it--a very light crowd on a Thursday night, owing apparently to some construction work on the patio. You walk in, the emptiness almost echoing, and wonder if you're in on some kind of secret or if you've simply misread the room. The bartender, however, is a gem--a real pro. Friendly without being overbearing, capable with a steady, quiet confidence that makes you think he's seen and heard it all. I settled in and ordered the scallop crudo and a rare burger, bunless. The crudo arrived adorned with an ambition that was just a bit misplaced, hot peppers pushing their way into a dish that should have celebrated the scallop's simple, oceanic clarity. Not bad by any means, but somewhere between the ingredients and presentation, the purity of the crudo got lost. The burger was good--rare as I like it, but without much fuss to get in the way. The ambiance? Understated, calm, the kind of place you could sit for hours without noticing the time pass. Drinks were a solid A--crafted with that same quiet skill as the bartender's manner, not overly complicated but with a certain finesse. Overall, it was...fine. A solid B+ for food at this price point, but maybe I'm spoiled--or just wary of settling for good enough when this town has so much more to offer. Still, I couldn't help but feel for the bartender. A man who gives his job that much care deserves a livelier room, so I tipped accordingly. Will I be back? Probably not, given the wealth of options in LA. But if fate or circumstance finds me back at Nomad, I wouldn't say no. There's more to be tried, maybe a different night, a different dish, with just the right amount of restraint. read more

Had a birthday dinner here for a large group and they were able to accomodate us easily and was pleasently surprised. They have a great little private room that was the perfect size for us so we would not annoy many of the other guests. Always love the chimichurri steak frites and this place has some of my favorite french fries, nice and crispy with that airy batter. Make sure when you go to also get the hummus. Some of the best hummus I've ever had in the South Bay, with great presentation and the crunchy garbanzo beans + garlic zhoug separate it from most other hummus I've had. The patera flat bread that comes with the hummus is also another highlight, the perfect texture for hummus. Service was nice and friendly, but don't have much to comment on that. Highly recommend for a nice dinner with your significant other, coworkers, or friends! read more

First time coming under the new Resturant (used to be Jackson bar + grill), and we were pleasantly surprised with our experience. The service was great, and the owner even made his way over for some background and updates on the new restaurant. For 2 people we spent about $90 bucks. Ordered the Caesar and split it between two(medium size portion), we both ordered a cocktail($16each) and they were both refreshing and enough balance between liquor and sweetness. We both ordered the steak frites and we both enjoyed our meal, and portion size($23). Not sure if they offer happy hour, but they do have a full bar, and two mini tvs hanging over it. Good ambiance but sadly not a lot of pre and post activity in that center after some shops closed and movie theater closed. But that makes it a place you can walk in to or go last minute. LOVE this place and LOVE the owner/chef, Scott Cooper, who knows his way around a kitchen - and has re-invented one of our FAVE South Bay staples (Jackson's) after the pandemic - and we are SO glad to see they made it through. We began our evening with their flavorful and spicy hummus, with handmade, fresh/hot from the oven, wonderfully soft flatbread. We also got the coconut encrusted jumbo shrimp - juicy, tender, perfect texture and the chutney it came with was as YUMMY as the shrimp! Thoroughly enjoyed the Filet Mignon Lomo Saltado - and BOY, were we happy with our choice! The meat was perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful - the green sauce (peruvian aji verde) was JUST the right amount of spicy, and the fries that are with it - I have NO idea what they do to them, but they are so good...garlic? onions? and just right on the crispiness. Hubby got the Steak chimichurri frites - and it was as tender as my filet mignon. Everything was so flavorful and nothing overpowered anything else - the flavors all came together amazingly well. We finished off the evening with the chocolate souffle - it takes a long time to come out SO ORDER EARLY BECAUSE IT IS SOOOO WORTH THE WAIT! Love the enclosed patio area that still makes you feel like you're outside though, technically you're not. Had dinner here after the grand opening of the new CinemaWest Beach Cities movie complex featuring various technologies including Dolby Atmos sound system in their auditorium 1. My friend ordered the filet mignon lomo saltado and I ordered the chimichurri steak frite. Both were well executed. As a starter we tried the scallop "aguachile". I've never had it and my friend said let's try it. Don't know what to make of it. The plating had 5 "shells" each with a slice of scallop, two raw jalapeños slices, cilantro and a small piece of avocado. No cucumbers or serranos as advertised in the menu. The juice that came with it had traditional flavors you would expect from a ceviche. Looking forward to another meal here without the scallop aguachile. Food is very good. We ordered the hummus with fresh pita. For our entrees, we ordered lamb skewers, chicken skewers, steak & fries and grilled shrimp on a bed of jasmine rice. I was not a fan of the raw bean sprouts on top if the grilled shrimp dish. For dessert we ordered the chocolate souffle. Every dish we had was tasty and filling. Portions were just right and ea entree was enough for 1 lerson. The choc souffle is a MUST. One of the best desserts I have had in a long time. It comes with a side of fresh whipped cream. A scoop of vanilla ice cream would've been way better. Must pre-order the choc souffle since it takes 25 min to make/bake. We sat in the patio area which was enclosed and warm. We were next to the bar where there were 4 people enjoying drinks. It looks like one or 2 of the patrons works there but was off for the night. They were way too loud, laughing hysterically & rudely. Our server, who was nice were laughing & joking with them in between taking food orders. I don't mind people having a great time & laughing but when it gets loud, out of hand, rude & obnoxious, that's when it needs to tone down a bit. We couldn't hear our conversation without a rude laugh interrupting us. We will have to try this place again. 3 stars for food & service. read more

Nomad Eatery is one of those places where you just know that they not only want you to have good food, but a good meal. This is definitely a restaurant where they care about food and service, and they try to bring the best dining experience. Come here enough, and the owner/manager will definitely say hi to you and welcome you back. Korean Fried Chicken was an interesting take, but the biggest plus that impressed me was that their chicken breast was not dry. at. all. It looks like a neat, tidy burger: the kimchi slaw is neatly packed, fried chicken breast & pickles are tucked in, and the gojuchang sauce hiding. But after you take your first bite you know it's a real burger because it gets messy. Explosion of flavor -- you get an initial sweet chili pepper flavor off the bat, and right as you crunch into the chicken breast you get a slight sweet & sour pop from the slaw and pickle, that then rounds into the meaty goodness as you can taste the juice dripping from the chicken itself; at the end of the bite you taste the chili sweetness from the back of your palate and it comes full circle. I genuinely thought it was a great burger. Sandwich. Whatever you want to call it -- it's just good. Service is great and the wait staff know how to sell their menu, roping people into getting more without being too pushy. But at the same time, extremely friendly and welcoming, and they make sure your waters are always filled. Overall, a great restaurant that I would be happy to go to often too. read more

Cute inside, food "looked" good on menu and it's not a cheap place, it's on the higher end. My sister's and I decide to eat here and although staff was nice, the food was not good - especially not for what they're charging. Let me first say that we were probably the 3rd group there, it was quite empty and it took quite a while for us to get our food. At one point we were the only ones out on the patio. Even after waiting some time, when we finally got our food, it was cold. I got the $19 Chicken Enchiladas which comes with beans and rice and let me say that both my beans and rice were cold and chicken only felt warm. They should also clarify on the menu hot spicy they are because they were way too hot for my liking which didn't make it comfortable to eat. Flavor was decent. My older sister got the steaks and eggs $28, and hers was also cold and the meat had a strange smell, almost of mildew. My little sister didn't really like hers either as her steak had the same smell. We let our waitress know and she didn't really seem to try and do anything about it except ask if we wanted something else but at that point we were over it. She didn't try to get the manager or anything to try and make it right. It's unfortunate that places charge so much for food to come out cold and not that good, and have to wait quite a while to get our food especially when it was quite empty. This was our first time here. The service was fantastic. We got here for happy hour. The cost of the drinks was a selling point. Got the coconut shrimp for a starter. Very good. I had the chimichurri steak and fries. The chimichurri was a bit spicy but very good. My husband had the lomo saltado made with filet mignon. Both dishes were excellent. The restaurant was comfortable but maybe a little loud. Okay for me but my husband has me repeat myself. I'm used to that. We will be back. Definitely hit the spot. read more

Although, after being assured that the french fries were cooked in a clean fryer and were safe for a celiac person to eat, at the end of the meal, we were told that that information was a mistake. The result, the celiac member of our party was sick that night, and for the next few days. To the owners credit, he did not charge us for the meal, which was only fair since it's not much fun to pay to be sick. Mains: Steak frites-steak was cooked deliciously, and to exactly the right temperature. Salmon was also cooked perfectly. Interesting fresh side, dishes, and a nice list of wines by the glass. Honestly, the food was great and 5 stars for the food. The one star is solely for management and staff. Their pricing online versus the paper menu they give you is different. The pricing on the menu they give you on the restaurant has higher prices. Very shady. They also added on a mandatory tip for a party of 5 that came in and the service was not worth that tip at all and the gratuity policy is not posted anywhere nor on the menu. Super shady again. A super cute restaurant with a free parking garage (rare!) with friendly staff. I went for LA Dine week so was able to get two things (I ordered the humus and the salmon salad) for around $25. They portions for the hummus was very large and super good. The salmon salad had didn't have as much greens as I wished but it did have a little bit of a spice that I liked.
