We sat on the enclosed patio which was nice and cozy, started with their hummus and fresh pita (can't go wrong there), then we went all out with lamb skewers, steak & fries, and grilled shrimp. I've been here twice and both times had an incredible experience at Nomad. I recently came with a group of friends and everyone loved their meals. I split the branzino and chili relleno with a friend and both were so flavorful and delicious. Also the staff was warm and attentive and really made our whole evening stand out. The chef/owner is also extremely friendly and came out to talk with all the tables. He gave us the history of some of the dishes and made recommendations, and overall made our group feel very welcome. I couldn't recommend this restaurant more. I'll be back. read more

The server was slow and bordering on rude. Restaurant was empty when we arrived, then quickly filled up. We asked to order special items and they said that it could not be done - which is odd, since the food is already there. Several of us had meat that was under cooked, pink chicken??, but didn't want to send it back since the service was so slow. They came with our checks before dessert was served and although we placed an order for the chocolate cake at the beginning, it took over half and hour to arrive - and at least 45 minutes for rice pudding?? The plate was cold, the pudding was cold - what did they have to do with it to take that long? Troy never left us feeling neglected and on top of that he was our bartender as well so our drinks were strong and came to our table promptly. Sometimes it's easy to not make time for new spots when you get used to the familiar standbys, or if a destination has changed. In the case of Nomad Eatery, I was accustomed to dining here when it was under another name and, as such, mainly as an aside to when I went to the Arclight theaters (now, sadly, closed). The reimagining is quite tasty, though the space hasn't changed at all. Ambiance is still not my South Bay favorite. There are so many hard surfaces including flooring, that sound can be overwhelming in a full room. The worst is the grating loud dining chairs' feet that are like nails on a chalkboard times 10. We ordered, on the server's recommendation, the non-meat Nomad burger. It was served as-is, no sides. Good overall. Nothing special. The chile relleno was decadent and delicious. Pretty spicy sauce was in the presentation bowl, so unable to avoid if you don't love that. Am sure they could put on side if you asked as they were very nice about substituting out rice for me. Craft cocktail of a Manhattan was quite tasty and a typical portion. Adding call liquor tacked on another $2 for a total of $18 Server was fantastic. It was an early Sunday eve and pretty chill when we dined, so we had a table visit by Scott the owner and GM Elysia. If the movie theater were still open I would definitely come here, but, otherwise, it's not likely to stay top of mind for me unless I'm going to try their popular happy hour. Am reaching to give 4 stars when it was more a little over 3. There are many excellent restaurants in the area, so it may be hard for Nomad to stand out. The menu and concept was a little all over the place for me. The food was mid at best. We tried the steak with chimichuri and ordered it medium but it came out mid rare. We only tried one piece of it and didn't ask for a box. If the service wasn't so slow and might have sent it back but at some point our time was worth more. The fries were amazing. The lamb skewers were just ok for me. Maybe they call it nomads because we could never find our server and new people kept coming for table touches and would forget our asks and orders. This was my second time at Nina's for lunch. First time was right after the pandemic. I was joined by 4 colleagues and this was during the dine LA week when they also have a special two course menu for $25 which is a great value. The restaurant was half full. I ordered the chopped salad that was full of chicken and salami and was well put together with a nice dressing. It was a solid 4.5 star. 3 of my colleagues really enjoyed their food. One unfortunately had some issues as her order was mixed up initially and her steak was over cooked. Nice ambiance and plenty of parking outside. The chef or the proprietor came by during our lunch to see if we had been there before and check on on how we liked the food. He said they are mostly known for their skewers. read more

Took some circling to get in the door but glad we did it. Having never been here we walked past the entrance and wondered confused until we noticed the door. Inside was clean, modern, with soft light and open space. The service from the door to the dessert was friendly, helpful, and came with good recommendations. The wine was reasonably priced by the bottle. We ended up with a nice tempranillo. We started with the cauliflower appetizer what was well seasoned and roasted perfectly. Mains were steak and salmon. Pulled up to Nomad Eatery, as a Runaway mother with another Runaway mother, on the day before Christmas Eve trying to catch a child free vibe! Didn't realize that they were supposed to close shortly after our arrival but they were very gracious enough to serve us. Food was super good- ordered the steak/fries, hummus, Italian salad, and the branzino. I must admit that I enjoyed everything that I put in my mouth! Gaious was an excellent server, I also liked that he and the bartender were able to accommodate me adding vodka to the pineapple/ginger drink lol! It was my first time here. I came here with some co-workers of mine and we tried it based on another co-workers recommendation. We came on a Friday at lunchtime. I was surprised there was no wait during lunch hours. The ambiance was nice & relaxing. The prices are about a little bit above average. Any restaurant you go to in El Segundo costs about $10 - $20 per plate. Nomad Eatery is no different. But it's always good to try new places out and that's what I came for. I got the Korean Sandwich and it was delicious. The portion size is just enough to get you full and possibly even take home. I was debating on getting the Avacado toast, but when I saw my co-worker get it, I changed my mind. I do not regret this sandwich. Try this place in El Segundo. Lovely atmosphere inside an office park, it looks like a beautiful oasis. I'd say everything good was balanced by something off and vice versa. The mussels appetizer was delicious in a creamy coconut broth. The $18 glasses of unnamed house wine that was just okay put me off. The chicken skewer plate and the vegan beyond meat patty plate featured fresh ingredients, well crafted babaganoush and a light tabbouleh. It needed hummus to round it out. The flat breads it came with were freshly made but were mostly cardboard-like. Overall, it really was a push-pull but ended up at 3 stars because in the end it all felt a little like artifice. I recently dined at Nomad Eatery for the first time. It was dineLA time and so it was perfect time to check this place out. For dineLA they had a $15 lunch offering the included 2 courses. The first course consisted of choosing between a Tuscan Kale Salad and a Nomad Hummus while the Second Course consisted of choosing between Grilled Salmon Esquites, Chicken Skewered Wrap and Bento Inspired Lamb Mezze Board. One of the nice things about dineLA here is not everyone has to order the dineLA special menu. Not all restaurants to do this. For our table however; my mom and I opted to both try the dineLA. We decided to try different things from the dineLA menu so that we could try a variety. We first tried the Nomad Hummus. I saw this is a very popular appetizer here and I can definitely see why. The Nomad Hummus was creamy and good in flavor. We next tried Tuscan Kale Salad. This was also a very nice salad. I liked the sweet taste that the salad had. This could be attributed to the dates in the salad. There was also an added crunchy texture due to almonds. I loved the flavor too that the shave percorino added. For our entrees; we got the Chicken Skewered Wrap and the Bento Inspired Lamb Mezze Board respectively. The Chicken Skewered Wrap was my least favorite. I thought it was a bit dry and it was the accompanying tahini sauce; that really made it flavorful. The Lamb Mezze Board was ok. The Lamb Kebab was a little bit hard and I wished it was a bit more tender. Overall I felt first course of dineLA out did second course of dine LA. As for the service here at Nomad Eatery; I thought it was a little off. The waitress never gave us any additional water although she passed by multiple times seeing almost empty glasses. I noticed the neighboring table had a bit better service (getting refills on water and iced tea) but they looked to be regulars that she knew who she was very friendly to. Overall it was an ok visit to Nomad. I've been here before several times when it was still Jackson's and do think Jackson's was a bit better but then again this is my first time at Nomad. read more

My family and enjoyed a very nice dinner at Nomad Eatery recently. It was our first-time dining there and we went based on recs from friends who live in the area. We were not disappointed. The ambience is good for both dressing-up a bit or going casual. Decor is Mediterranean-African-beachy- sounds odd, but it's interesting and comfortable. Food: we had the BEST HUMMUS EVER, mussels & clams, and the Lomo Saltado. I mean it- you will crave the Hummus after you leave (heading over for lunch now). Shellfish came in a delicious broth with grilled bread on the side. The Saltado could've been a bit rarer- I'll specify medium-rare next time. Full bar. Service was prompt and professional. And, the owner, Scott, is charming. You can tell how passionate he is about food and how much attention he put into cultivating dishes for the menu. This is not a chain-restaurant. The restaurant has a really cozy, romantic feel to it, and it was a nice place to unwind and enjoy a good meal. The food was great--simple, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I also really liked the cocktails; they were thoughtfully made and looked just as good as they tasted. When my friends and I arrived, we were greeted by someone we later learned was the owner. He was super welcoming and even stopped by our table later to see how everything was. Nomad is definitely a little eatery. The ambience is casual and the lighting inside is serene. You can also sit on the patio and I think at night they light candles. Anywho, I had the happy hr rose and coconut shrimp. The rose was sweet and tangy, it was tasty. The coconut shrimp was a nice size but didnt have a whole lot of flavor. I ordered the chile relleno based off the bartenders recommendation of popular dishes. It has a nice crunchy outside shell and when you crack it, cheeese oozes out. At first it is so good, then you realize you are eating cheese melted in a thin (almost nonexistent) layer of chile and a crust that covers it. Nomad, south of LAX in El Segundo, has this way of being the perfect place to go when you're in the area and not really sure where else to go. It's unassuming. But tonight, the place had a stillness to it--a very light crowd on a Thursday night, owing apparently to some construction work on the patio. You walk in, the emptiness almost echoing, and wonder if you're in on some kind of secret or if you've simply misread the room. The bartender, however, is a gem--a real pro. Friendly without being overbearing, capable with a steady, quiet confidence that makes you think he's seen and heard it all. I settled in and ordered the scallop crudo and a rare burger, bunless. The crudo arrived adorned with an ambition that was just a bit misplaced, hot peppers pushing their way into a dish that should have celebrated the scallop's simple, oceanic clarity. Not bad by any means, but somewhere between the ingredients and presentation, the purity of the crudo got lost. The burger was good--rare as I like it, but without much fuss to get in the way. The ambiance? Understated, calm, the kind of place you could sit for hours without noticing the time pass. Drinks were a solid A--crafted with that same quiet skill as the bartender's manner, not overly complicated but with a certain finesse. Overall, it was...fine. A solid B+ for food at this price point, but maybe I'm spoiled--or just wary of settling for good enough when this town has so much more to offer. Still, I couldn't help but feel for the bartender. A man who gives his job that much care deserves a livelier room, so I tipped accordingly. Will I be back? Probably not, given the wealth of options in LA. I hardly ever leave reviews, but this place was really disappointing. I was hopeful this place would be good. Cute inside, food "looked" good on menu and it's not a cheap place, it's on the higher end. My sister's and I decide to eat here and although staff was nice, the food was not good - especially not for what they're charging. Let me first say that we were probably the 3rd group there, it was quite empty and it took quite a while for us to get our food. At one point we were the only ones out on the patio. Even after waiting some time, when we finally got our food, it was cold. I got the $19 Chicken Enchiladas which comes with beans and rice and let me say that both my beans and rice were cold and chicken only felt warm. They should also clarify on the menu hot spicy they are because they were way too hot for my liking which didn't make it comfortable to eat. Flavor was decent. My older sister got the steaks and eggs $28, and hers was also cold and the meat had a strange smell, almost of mildew. My little sister didn't really like hers either as her steak had the same smell. We let our waitress know and she didn't really seem to try and do anything about it except ask if we wanted something else but at that point we were over it. She didn't try to get the manager or anything to try and make it right. It's unfortunate that places charge so much for food to come out cold and not that good, and have to wait quite a while to get our food especially when it was quite empty. Had a birthday dinner here for a large group and they were able to accomodate us easily and was pleasently surprised. They have a great little private room that was the perfect size for us so we would not annoy many of the other guests. Always love the chimichurri steak frites and this place has some of my favorite french fries, nice and crispy with that airy batter. Make sure when you go to also get the hummus. Some of the best hummus I've ever had in the South Bay, with great presentation and the crunchy garbanzo beans + garlic zhoug separate it from most other hummus I've had. The patera flat bread that comes with the hummus is also another highlight, the perfect texture for hummus. Service was nice and friendly, but don't have much to comment on that. LOVE this place and LOVE the owner/chef, Scott Cooper, who knows his way around a kitchen - and has re-invented one of our FAVE South Bay staples (Jackson's) after the pandemic - and we are SO glad to see they made it through. We began our evening with their flavorful and spicy hummus, with handmade, fresh/hot from the oven, wonderfully soft flatbread. We also got the coconut encrusted jumbo shrimp - juicy, tender, perfect texture and the chutney it came with was as YUMMY as the shrimp! Thoroughly enjoyed the Filet Mignon Lomo Saltado - and BOY, were we happy with our choice! The meat was perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful - the green sauce (peruvian aji verde) was JUST the right amount of spicy, and the fries that are with it - I have NO idea what they do to them, but they are so good...garlic? onions? and just right on the crispiness. Hubby got the Steak chimichurri frites - and it was as tender as my filet mignon. Everything was so flavorful and nothing overpowered anything else - the flavors all came together amazingly well. We finished off the evening with the chocolate souffle - it takes a long time to come out SO ORDER EARLY BECAUSE IT IS SOOOO WORTH THE WAIT! Love the enclosed patio area that still makes you feel like you're outside though, technically you're not. If you're looking for an amazing, independently-owned restaurant who's quality, fresh food and unique take on dishes will stun you, but NOT your bank account, then look no further than Nomad Eatery.
