This place Is awesome. It's a bit hidden away near the old arc light theatre and orange theory. However the ambience and back patio area are fantastic. This place feels small not in a bad way but in a welcoming cosy one and still manages to pull off a cool modern vibe. Warm wood paneling and cool tiles accent the area well. Good bar and selection of wines. The food was excellent--it is a fusion of Latin American, US and Mediterranean which they pull off flawlessly. I had the coconut shrimp and Caesar salad (both on happy hour) 5 stars. Service? I sat bar top (as I do when dining alone) and the bartender was welcoming and friendly. The cocktails? There's something for everyone here. This place feels like a warm welcome. From the food around the world, the attentive service, and the owner Scott greeting you, you just feel welcomed. FOOD The menu is wide-ranging and equally good for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. My vegetarian husband really enjoyed his plant-based skewer plate and I really enjoyed my chimichurri steak (very nicely-done and not dry or over-cooked). My favorite was the nomad hummus. The zhoug sauce in it was a nice touch, and added that unexpected complexity and zing. SERVICE This place made me realize what I really missed during the pandemic - the human component of eating out. Coconut shrimp-pass. Not bad but it is just your typical coconut shrimp with a cloyingly sweet sauce. Half chicken-yum. Husband gave me a bite, just one bite of his. Dipped in the garlic sauce it was tasty. Lamb kebabs-they were cooked well done you don't get a choice. I prefer my lamb medium. But the babaganoush that comes with it was terrific! Tabouleh was pretty tasty too. We had an old fashioned and another drink. The bartender knows his stuff. Bill came to 105.00 without tip. Pricey. Overall: very noisy, slow service. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was relaxing, we sat outdoors. I ordered the filet pieces and my husband ordered the spaghetti. We had tiramisu for desert. Also we had a glass of their house cab. We have zero complaints. This was a holiday and a busy night and they were organized and not rushed, even though the place was quite full. Exceptional and outstanding. We chose Nomad because one of our sons is vegetarian, but the rest of us are traditional meat and vegetable eaters. He insists we don't pick a vegetarian restaurant just for him, but we still prefer restaurants where he has plenty of great tasting options, too. We chose Nomad because they have a varied menu with lots of meat and lots of vegetarian-friendly options. Probably half of the menu is vegetarian-friendly. The dining room is lovely - it's a hybrid outside/inside patio-like big box with a beautiful fireplace. It's spacious and not too loud and very enjoyable. Service was excellent. We really enjoyed our server Troy. The food is simply outstanding - absolutely flavorful and delicious. I like meat, but chose to eat plant-based for my meal and was very happy for the decision. The owner, Scott Cooper, is very nice and stopped by. He explained the concept behind the restaurant and evolution of the menu - very cool. Drinks were outstanding, too. First timers - Went there for lunch today and they took almost an hour to bring our lunch out. We were only two people, and waiters were mostly in the kitchen the whole time. I had to walk to the kitchen to check on the ETA of our food. Our appetizer never came out, and to top it all off I had ordered the salmon and asked for it medium rare so it wasn't fishy... but it was fishy. I was excited to try Nomad...we used to go to Jackson's that used to be in this location. It has a nice ambiance with the patio seating and with great heaters so was looking forward to sitting outside (it's enclosed on the sides then open up top). We ordered the coconut shrimp...it never came but they were very apologetic and comped us a dessert (more on that later). For entrees, the chimichurri steak was delicious with great flavor. The shrimp & fried rice was ok...shrimp was great but the rice was bland but edible. Now the dessert...the chocolate souffle was really good! Perfectly prepared and a wonderful end to our meal :) We would definitely go back and try more dishes. The cauliflower at our neighbor's table looked yummy-we'll try that next time. I love this restaurant...like a Nomad moves to he best area, this restaurant takes the best from all of the areas. Their chile relleno is better than any Mexican restaurant. They have a great burger and their fries are truly amazing...the perfect crispiness. The house made hummus with the warm fresh pita is better than any Mediterranean restaurant's as is the vegan kofta kebab. You would think the steak au poivre was from a French restaurant, but the Nomad brings it all together. Service is always friendly and great and I am looking forward to the new outdoor patio that is currently being built. Went here for both Mother's Day and Father's Day brunches...Father's Day because my father enjoyed it so much on Mother's Day. read more

What a great surprise Nomad was! We found it on DineLA and it was really a wonderful meal. Because we arrived before 6pm we were able to take advantage of happy hour, and I had a delicious Moscow Mule and we shared some guacamole and chips. The guacamole was great! The Dine LA menu started with the Nomad Hummus which was excellent! Just watch out for the green stuff on top of you don't like super spicy stuff. Next time I would ask for that on the side. The crunchy chickpeas on top made it extra unique. The Chimmichuri Steak Frites was quite good, though the chimmichuri sauce was too spicy for me. The fries were great! We also ordered a chicken skewer from the happy hour menu and shared that, and it was DELICIOUS! I would order that again next time in a heartbeat. And finally, we ended with the chocolate soufflé which was very tasty, and served with a generous scoop of freshly whipped cream. Lovely! Service was friendly, and we got to meet the owner, who stopped by our table at the end of the meal, and that was a really nice touch, too. Very welcoming. They have a patio, but it's pretty enclosed. The ceiling is open on part of it. It's also quite noisy, which was surprising, and the only downside. The hummus was flavorful with added crunchy chickpea garnish giving the dish surprising textures. For our main courses we ordered the Rigitoni Bolognese and Chimichurri Steak Frites. Both were delicious served in sizable portions. We had the Warm Chocolate Heaven and the Coconut Rice Pudding for dessert. Yummy choices for dessert but I preferred the Coconut Rice Pudding. Secondly, you are consistent and reliable so thank you. With delivery orders, it is usually rare to find restaurants that have consistency and Nomad, you have surpassed the bar. The next drink i got was a white mexican wine on the happy hour and it was good. A better bang for your buck than the cocktail. It was dry like a Sauvignon blanc. We ordered the hummus and artichokes to start and both were delicious. The hummus had a spicy sauce (but only on half) and it was so good! They gave us 1 big piece of pita but it turned out to be enough. I got the cesar salad to eat and i was very satisfied! There was enough dressing, not very anchovy and the price was not overpriced like most places! My friend got the lamb skewers because the waitor recommended them and he said they were good but well done. He wish they would've asked how he would like his meat cooked because it was too well done for his liking. My other friend got the Chile Relleno and she loved it. The manager (Steve or Scott I can't remember) even came over introduced himself and explained the story behind the dish! It was a nice gesture. The staff were all extremely attentive, kind and helpful. They all seemed happy to be there. The restaurant has a nice patio with string lights, heaters and hanging plants. So yesterday was my second time here. I brought along my sister and her son. I was disappointed to find out that they had no kid friendly menu, so we had to order him a $20 burger that he only ate 2 bites of. Happy hour drink menu is flattering. However, the happy hour food is so small its a better deal to order on the regular menu. However, despite these two things food is pretty decent i guess, the dishes are hit or miss, the chilreno is really good, but my scallop crudo was very bland. I love the ambience and vibe. The service was a little interesting... the women bartending was beyond wasted- she was yelling so loud (screaming & cussing) & dancing with 2 men (almost felt like it was a sports bar, but it's actually a nice sit down restaurant). Our waiter was friendly at first, but slowly also started to get wasted and become inattentive. It become very uncomfortable. The pricing of the food is too expensive to have the employees acting like they're at a dive bar. There was one women working there and I felt bad for her because she was picking up everyone's slack & you could tell she was embarrassed with what was happening with the other staff.
