Late post, but I took family there from out of town about a month ago and everything was above and beyond what I could have expected. First and Foremost- Big compliments to host and booking staff in helping me get the table and specifications that I wanted, and to all staff in general for an unforgettable experience! Mike Steel at the bar is the guy to see when you're there, he's the best! Another gentleman that interacted with us was so awesome as well, either a manager or maitre d'. Amazing service and making us feel like we were at home and with friends and family the entire time. My husband and I came here without a reservation right around 6:30pm and got lucky and sat by the bar/lounge right by the window with a great view! When walk into the building there is someone at a desk to great you and offer complimentary champagne. Then you take the elevator to the 49th floor, and arrive at the nicely decorated place. The food was nothing short of amazing. The service was good but could be better, they were very busy so we understand. It is definitely not your typical date night so be ready to spend some $$$$, but I think it's really worth it. I made reservation for my bday and can't wait to go back! read more

Food was mediocre and overpriced. Our waiter was the rudest person my wife and I have encountered in a while. Sad part is it was our 1 year anniversary of marriage and it was ruined because of service and food was terrible. I wouldn't dare pay 125.00 per person when there is a cat walk where you can get the same pics and videos without have to order 250.00 worth of food if you don't want too. The food and experience was phenomenal, I'd go back in a heartbeat for that. However the valet was AWFUL, my husband and I waited on the corner for at least 15 minutes with our newborn and 2 yo daughter and it was very cold and windy outside. I was expecting more considering the prices. Food was good, not great. I wouldn't say it's authentic Italian by any stretch of the imagination. The server hit all the steps but you could tell she was going through the motions with zero interest in personalizing the visit. They packed up our leftovers but forgot to put a box in the bag. I can't say enough good things about the Monarch! I've been twice during my last two visits to Dallas, once for my 9th wedding anniversary and second for my 43rd birthday. We had reservations around the same time which was 6:45 pm and were greeted with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine when you first walk into the building. It a nice sip as you make your way up the elevator to the 49th floor. We were then greeted by a concierge who asked if we had a reservations and if we were celebrating anything, which we were so he graciously wished me a happy birthday. He directed us to the hostess stand were we chickened in and they also wished me a happy birthday and walked us to our table. After we were seated, we ordered our cocktails and then were provided some delicious bread with whipped to perfection butter w/olive oil, fresh cut salame and olive assortment. We had leaned from our first visit to save room in our stomaches for the main course. With that said, we only ordered entrees which included my favorite, lasagna and my husband ordered the Ribeye with a med cook and a side of whipped mashed potatoes. The food came out in a timely manner which allowed us to drink a full cocktail and enjoy a great conversation over the bread and olives. The food as always was cooked to perfection and our tastebuds rejoiced. After the main course we wanted to order dessert but were way to full and expressed our gratitude to the wonderful waitress. When she brought our check, she also surprised not only me but my husband with a shot of tequila and birthday candle to celebrate my birthday! Taking note that we couldn't eat anymore, I appreciated that she brought up something to drink to celebrate vs something to eat. I just love going to Monarch, for not just the amazing food and service but the overall ambiance and lovely energy that matches mine. So we were told that this is THE place to visit in Dallas. That if there is one restaurant to try, Monarch was it. So for our wedding anniversary, we reserved a table here for dinner. At the time of my reservation, I couldn't get a window seat but I noted on my reservation that we would love a window seat if they could make it happen. I didn't expect anything from it but when we arrived and checked in with the hostess, they walked us directly to a window-seat table. Thank you Monarch staff for making this happen! Believe the hype of the window seat experience. It's beautiful for sure! But I guess on the 49th floor of any building, how can the view not be spectacular? We were able to watch from early evening to sunset and as it got dark. So it was very nice. We ordered oysters, crudo, tomato salad, lobster spaghetti, another pasta dish (don't remember the name), Brussels sprouts with chickpeas, green beans and one of their desserts (again, don't remember the name). The two home made pasta plates were phenomenal. Oysters and crudo were good but I honestly had better. The salad was meh. Sides and dessert were very good. The ONLY downside with our experience was the valet. Very rude and unfriendly. read more

The best thing we had to eat was a starter, the meatballs This was a pretty good dish but....things went downhill from there. The Shrimp Scampi Raviolis were just ok. Nothing to write home about. The Shortrib Bolognese was a little better but was only marginally better than the mom and pop Italian place on the corner. The Turbot was one of the worst fish dishes I have ever eaten. It was boiled or parboiled with a rubbery surface and lacked deliciousness. I'm very sad I paid $48 for this fish. The wood fired chicken was pretty good but didn't blow me away. It could have used a sauce. In summary, the food is ordinary. Similar to an Italian restaurant in your nearby strip mall. read more

This place far exceeded my expectations. I've been to numerous fine dining restaurants around the DFW and this is by far my favorite. The overall experience was amazing. When you first enter you are greeted with champagne for the elevator ride up to the 49th floor and once you arrive you are greeted with a gorgeous view of downtown. I will say I was not too happy with having to wait a little over 30 minutes to be seated despite arriving early for my reservations and the food did take awhile to come out, but overall everything was great. Our waiter Gabriel and Jacob were both really funny and amazing and the chef did his thing with the food. I've been to 5 star restaurants before and left still hungry but not here. We arrived, there was valet out front for $10. It's downtown so parking is scarce. As soon as we entered the building there was a kind lady at a counter and she offered us champagne! Such a cool touch!! Then she escorted us to the elevator and told us that the restaurant was on the 49th floor!! I will say that if I had know it was that fancy we prob would have dressed up more! When we got to the top, the host let us know that there were no tables available but the bar was open seating! The food was fantastic although a bit on the pricey side. But it think it's to be expected at such a nice restaurant! If you go upstairs above the Monarch, you can walk all the way round the building and see 360 views of the city... breathtaking! On our visit to Monarch I did not realize it was in the same bank building where I worked when I was 18 years old and NCNB was in the building! Eons ago! They have done a wonderful job transforming the space. We were seated in a two top booth by the window and we enjoyed the sunset . Our cocktails were very good, also had a nice bottle of wine. We started with the wagyu carpaccio I had the bone in filet ,medium rare. My husband had the wagyu Strip loin. Also a side of the mushrooms. Everything was prepared just as we had requested, and beautifully presented. For dessert I ordered the tiramisu and coffee. it was in a little cup and mostly frozen. It wasn't bad just not what I was expecting. All in all we had a very nice experience, and the decor and the views make for a nice evening. read more

My husband had a steak which was so tender and cooked to perfection. I would also not pass on the pasta. Having just traveled to Italy, there were some pasta dishes that rivaled Rome and Venice!
