Dined here for a special Birthday celebration. We were seated promptly and then no one greeted us tableside for nearly 10 minutes. Once things were finally in place we then waited for a truly long time for our cocktails.. The water service was so sloppy!! The server dripped and dribbled every time at every place setting and didn't seem to care. Our food was good but appetizers and entrees were barely warm. I will say they were very accommodating for our gluten free person and the food was prepared, when possible, with that in mind. Considering that we knew this would be an expensive dinner, I really wish we had taken our business elsewhere. It was not worth the $$$$
Wow, I was so utterly surprised at this restaurant. For spending a total of $1k for three people, I expected sooo much more. I had 9:30pm reservations on the 4th of July for the prefix menu with the booth/window seating ($175 each just for the window seating) only to be sat 20 minutes late. The entire point of the reservation was to watch the start of the fireworks at 9:30pm. When asked for updates, the hostess just shrugged and said they could not do anything about it. No compensation was offered for this either. The saddest part was the food. We requested medium rare filets and received bloody, almost gelatinous rare meat. I'm not opposed to rare, but this was weirdly raw. And the seasoning was just odd. I can honestly say this was the worst fillet I've had in Texas yet. The 2 pros? Obviously the view and an adorable server. But unfortunately, these two could never draw me back to this restaurant again.
I was greeted at the top of the elevator, and the maitre d' made great small talk all the way to my table, where I was seated promptly at my reserved window seat, which had a beautiful view. The entire restaurant was beautiful. The staff are well-dressed and looked very professional. My waiter, Ignacio, was phenomenal, personable yet very professional. The staff all around were top-notch The focaccia with prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella was crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, and it was so delicious. When they presented it, they poured olive oil on the prosciutto and mozzarella and cracked fresh black pepper to my liking. I also had the red dipping sauce, Dip in the Pot, a fresh tomato sauce with roasted garlic, chili, and basil. It was extremely flavorful, a little bit garlic forward, but who doesn't love garlic? I decided not to order any alcohol for the night, but I did get an iced tea, which was very delicious. For my main meal, I ordered the filet mignon with peperonata, peppers and olive oil. The filet mignon was so buttery soft, it almost seemed like it was going to melt in your mouth. It was so good. I also had the black truffle risotto, which was cooked perfectly. It is very savory and had a few chives on it. It was cooked phenomenally, which I believe risotto is hard to cook. I also had to order the spicy rigatoni alla vodka. That dish was phenomenal. The noodles were homemade and cooked to a perfect al dente. The sauce was velvety smooth and had a perfect bit of heat but nothing overwhelming. The flavor was very well balanced. Overall, every detail and aspect of the experience from beginning to end was perfect. You cannot ask for a better experience for dinner.
I came here for the views on the 49th floor, not so much the food. Top tier service, gotta love how they are dressed and how hospitable the staff are, A+ to them! I got the whipped ricotta with focaccia - the whipped was real good on the crispy/fluffy texture of the bread. Easily a texture heaven The drunk beach colada was nice and fruity (not balanced but a sweet cocktail nonetheless) The mommas spicy rigatoni alla vodka was creative - guanciale (pig cheek) was superb and made the sauce one of a kind. Somehow the one of a kind didn't do it for me but it was nice The chocolate cake (banana mousse, pb, banana ice cream) was outstanding. I'm not a chocolate person but it wasn't too chocolate-y so I. Would enjoy it. I ate away at the pb crunch mixed with the banana mousse - that was my favorite part.
Mother's Day brunch at Monarch. Will have to come back for dinner and check it out. Reserved the window upgraded table. Spectacular views and certainly worth it when you consider how much the brunch is going to cost anyway. Service by Thomas was personable and simply exceptional. It was definitely a nice and relaxing brunch with a fantastic view. My wife started with the Queen Bee cocktail, which she loved! I had some chamomile tea. No teabags here, just fresh leaf. For the fixed menu, there were optional upgrades with each course but your only real choice was for your entrée. We upgraded our starters with the caviar deviled eggs. They were very good and my wife thought these were the best deviled eggs she had ever tasted. The eggs were served with the first course, which was a small charcuterie board and a basket of delicious biscuits and muffins. I can't emphasize how good the biscuits and muffins were. For our entrée, we both had the lobster eggs Benedict. Not much lobster that you could taste (very small chunks) but overall it was delicious and the eggs were perfectly poached. It came with sides of pork, belly, fried potato, and Italian meatballs. My wife raved about the potato. We weren't huge fans of the other two sides though. Dessert was a spectacular strawberry shortcake. Delicious but unfortunately, very filling. Even more unfortunate we couldn't stop ourselves from consuming it. When the bill came, I was a little disappointed to see that they had already included a 20% tip in the bill for a party of two. I was going to tip more, but I hate when the tip is hidden like that. I say hidden because there was still a line for a tip that did not note it was an additional tip. It would have been easy to miss and double tipped. I assume they do that because some people must not be tipping at brunch. I'm just glad I caught it and didn't double up on the tip. I did leave an additional tip because of how well the service went and how great the meal was. Speaking of tipping, I always tip the valet, but I have not encountered where they charge me $13.50 and then want a 20 to 25% tip on top of that to park my car. Yes, I could have pushed the "custom tip" button and not tipped, but that would've been awfully awkward and it wasn't worth it on Mother's Day. Talk about tip fatigue!!The valet tip experience Just left a bad taste at the end of a wonderful brunch at Monarch. Someone should fix all this tip crapola where you can't differentiate any service or service difference. It's a negative reflection on the establishment even if it's a separate company doing the valet.
We had a wonderful experience at Monarch! This is truly a luxury restaurant with excellent service, a beautiful atmosphere, and spectacular views of Dallas. The view from the windows is especially stunning at sunset and after dark, when the city lights come on. We celebrated our birthdays here on August 16, and it made the evening feel very special. The food was delicious, the service was attentive and professional, and the entire experience felt elegant from beginning to end. We came to Dallas from Houston, so having the opportunity to enjoy the city from such an incredible viewpoint made our visit even more memorable. We left with wonderful impressions and beautiful memories. Definitely a special place for a celebration or an unforgettable evening in Dallas!
I adore Monarch! The vibes and interior are immaculate, the views incredible. The food is always a hit, and I love the spicy rigatoni--it is quite spicy!! Big fan of dinners here
My husband and I booked reservations for my birthday and we had the absolute best time. Our server DAISY was 10/10 she gave us THE ABSOLUTE BEST SERVICE!!! Everything we had was great from the wagyu carpaccio appetizer to our main entrees and family style sides. I can't say enough great things about our experience, I honestly wasn't in the mood to celebrate but I want to thank you so so much Daisy you made my birthday dinner amazing.
I visited Monarch on multiple occasions, but this past weekend was my absolute favorite. The service was immaculate. The attention to detail that we received was incredible. Now let's get into the food my friend got the chicken and I ordered and we had multiple sides as you can see in the pictures. He said his chicken was juicy and flavorful. I enjoyed my Branzino, but it was a little salty, but I believe it was because of the capers. All of our sides were top-tier. The anolini and mushrooms were amazing. I get the pasta all the time so that was to be expected. The meatballs paired with the focaccia with chefs kiss. This is a perfect place for a date night birthday dinner with friends or even a solo pull-up at the bar if you desire.
As far as nice places go this is nice. Service is top tier. The wait for the food is a little long but good for enjoying the ambiance. You have to specially REQUEST the seats with view outside. pretty quiet inside.
Dining here feels like an experience from the moment you walk in. The ambiance is stunning with strong art deco vibes that make the whole space feel glamorous and elevated. The views are incredible if you can snag a window seat, and watching the Dallas skyline while you eat really adds to the whole experience. The music was a little loud at times, but it still fits the high energy atmosphere. Service was stellar from start to finish. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the whole evening feel seamless. The focaccia to start was excellent. It had great seasoning and just the right amount of salt, but the whipped ricotta served with it was the real highlight. It was so creamy and flavorful that it completely stole the show. The Momma's Spicy Rigatoni alla Vodka pasta was absolutely amazing. Honestly, I liked it even more than the version at Carbone. The sauce had the perfect level of spice with a really nice heat that built slowly without overpowering the dish. The filet was also fantastic. Perfectly cooked, tender, and exactly what you hope for from a steak at a place like this. The Brussels sprouts were the only dish that felt a little underwhelming. They were decent, but compared to everything else they just did not stand out. Overall this was an incredible meal with beautiful views, great service, and some truly standout dishes. Definitely a place worth experiencing.
Can I give this place 6 stars? This place is exceptional. On the 49th floor of the National building downtown Dallas with great views overlooking the city. Fine dining with a dress code. No flip flops, jeans, athleisure, ball caps, or t-shirts. Men should wear a collard shirt, nice pants, and dress shoes. Several men were in suits. Several women were in nice dresses and heels. You do not want to show up underdressed. Reservations are recommended. There's the dining room and the lounge (bar area). The lounge serves the full menu but if you're with a group and eating a full dinner go for the dining room. There's a happy hour menu for the lounge which is great if you're looking for small bites and drinks. Everything we ate was spectacular. We focused on pescatarian dishes-oysters, crudo, etc. All pasta is freshly made in house. These aren't large portions. I would not plan on sharing with someone. Our server, Vivian, was phenomenal. Very attentive without being overbearing. She created meaningful conversations and explained menu items. The Sommelier was also very engaging and helpful when we ordered dessert wines (Sauternes, Vin Santo). Beautiful Riedel stemware. Fun tip: the last stall in the ladies room has a big window with a view of the city. Alarming at first but pretty cool. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are downtown Dallas and looking for a luxury meal.
49 floors up to see a lot of Dallas. Pretty sweet. You can even look out and down on Reunion Tower. The National Building houses residents and diners. There are separate elevators so the residents are not annoyed with the restaurant traffic. It's vest to valet park, because it is...downtown Dallas. We held reservations for the Monarch's mother's day brunch. They held a meal with minimal breakfast selections for $125 per person. Small muffins, cheeses, and fruit were served first. Then you could select an entree of macaroni and cheese, eggs benedict, filet of sole (do not order this - tough and might have been less than 1 oz). For dessert we had strawberry shortcake. People were nice. The elevator operators were the most informative about the building and the restaurants. I loved the fact that the Monarch opened its doors early so kids could bring their mothers, but i was not impressed with the food quality or taste. The service was OK. The restaurant was over-crowded. The parking was crazy and out of the way - vehicle retrieval was not the same place as drop-off. This place gets some wonderful reviews, so im hoping my visit was less than stellar because it was breakfast and not their normal supper dining.
Reviews are largely positive. People highlight the attentive service, stunning city views, and creative Italian dishes. The robust wine and drinks selection is also praised.

So we were told that this is THE place to visit in Dallas. That if there is one restaurant to try, Monarch was it. So for our wedding anniversary, we reserved a table here for dinner. At the time of my reservation, I couldn't get a window seat but I noted on my reservation that we would love a window seat if they could make it happen. I didn't expect anything from it but when we arrived and checked in with the hostess, they walked us directly to a window-seat table. Thank you Monarch staff for making this happen! Believe the hype of the window seat experience. It's beautiful for sure! But I guess on the 49th floor of any building, how can the view not be spectacular? We were able to watch from early evening to sunset and as it got dark. So it was very nice. We ordered oysters, crudo, tomato salad, lobster spaghetti, another pasta dish (don't remember the name), Brussels sprouts with chickpeas, green beans and one of their desserts (again, don't remember the name). The two home made pasta plates were phenomenal. Oysters and crudo were good but I honestly had better. The salad was meh. Sides and dessert were very good. The food was hands down some of the best I've had in Dallas. The service was top notch. Upon entering, we were greeted with glasses of complimentary champagne in the lobby. From there, you go up to the 45th floor (I believe). The view is absolutely breath taking. The decor of the overall restaurant reflects class and sophistication. We were lucky to be seated in a booth with an amazing view. Binh helped us navigate the menu and offered suggestions that did not disappoint. We then started with the prawns and steak tartar. The prawns were huge and juicy. The tartar had lots of flavor. We had the aged ribeye (the flavor was amazing and honestly probably the best ribeye I've had in Dallas), the short rib bolognese pasta, delicious. Our friends had the filet mignon, buttery and packed with flavor, and the lobster pasta dish, wonderfully plated and equally delicious. For sides, we had the green beans and mashed potatoes. For being green beans, they also had a lot of flavor! For dessert, we ended with the toffee bread pudding and tiramisu icecream. Between the two, 100% choose the toffee bread pudding. That will definitely not disappoint! Overall, amazing service and amazing food. This is a must visit! And a huge shoutout to Binh for the amazing service that really made our visit to the Monarch an overall experience! read more

I can't say enough good things about the Monarch! I've been twice during my last two visits to Dallas, once for my 9th wedding anniversary and second for my 43rd birthday. We had reservations around the same time which was 6:45 pm and were greeted with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine when you first walk into the building. It a nice sip as you make your way up the elevator to the 49th floor. We were then greeted by a concierge who asked if we had a reservations and if we were celebrating anything, which we were so he graciously wished me a happy birthday. He directed us to the hostess stand were we chickened in and they also wished me a happy birthday and walked us to our table. After we were seated, we ordered our cocktails and then were provided some delicious bread with whipped to perfection butter w/olive oil, fresh cut salame and olive assortment. We had leaned from our first visit to save room in our stomaches for the main course. With that said, we only ordered entrees which included my favorite, lasagna and my husband ordered the Ribeye with a med cook and a side of whipped mashed potatoes. The food came out in a timely manner which allowed us to drink a full cocktail and enjoy a great conversation over the bread and olives. The food as always was cooked to perfection and our tastebuds rejoiced. After the main course we wanted to order dessert but were way to full and expressed our gratitude to the wonderful waitress. When she brought our check, she also surprised not only me but my husband with a shot of tequila and birthday candle to celebrate my birthday! Taking note that we couldn't eat anymore, I appreciated that she brought up something to drink to celebrate vs something to eat. I just love going to Monarch, for not just the amazing food and service but the overall ambiance and lovely energy that matches mine. You just look at all the happy facing around you and hear the laughter. It's a good reminder that life is good and food is life! read more

Came in here on the second week of opening. I like the drink, the food and the fun mix of gentlemen (the servers are all dress very nice with jackets) and modern girls in cocktail dresses. It's a little odd but it's something different. Have no complaints about the price, because you got the vibe, the view and it all costs money. Will try the different room next time. read more

It’s applied to your dinner. But the $125 is per person. It does not include tax or gratuity.
How much would I spend on a birthday dinner for my wife if it's just us 2 with no drinks since she is pregnant?
Go somewhere else's. The food quality does not align with the cost. Better food at Parigis.
Is the view still good if you don't get a window seat?
Yes, there still some views from other tables near the window that are wonderful.
Is it possible to book a table for Saturday?
If it's not done in advance it's highly unlikely. If you want a window seat it's requires a deposit. I booked my Saturday night dinner about a month in advance.
Do children have a dress code like ? For adults the website says business casual or better.
I wouldn't bring children; that is definitely not the vibe.
Is there soft live music? I.e. Piano music etc.
No piano music. Just a restaurant with people chatting loudly.
Do you accept walk in?
I would highly discourage it. The place was full with reservations. You could probably get away with that at Catbird. Monarch does have a bar area and maybe try an extended…
Any substitutions for meat options if you can't eat pork?
For the Lasagna, it can be made without pork as long as we know 48 hours in advance. Spicy Rigatoni is another option. Thank you!
