The ambiance and food presentation was wonderful. I can't wait to go back with my family during their visit.

We had been talking about going here for over a year. The menu looks incredible, the location seemed spectacular, so for my birthday we all set aside funds to visit, yes it is extremely pricey. With a 2 Michelin starred chef and the offerings, we were expecting a fine dining experience comparable to other actual Michelin restaurants that we've been to. To start, self park! The valet at this building is an absolute nightmare. That's not the restaurant's fault, but it definitely played into the experience. Once you're in the door, we were greeted by a wonderful staffer who offered us complimentary champagne for the elevator ride up. Upon arrival, we checked in and went to the bar for cocktails while we waited for our party to arrive. Excellent drinks and even better service! The atmosphere was very upbeat and trendy with great music pumping up the area. When our table was ready we accompanied the hostess out of the loud bar area only to find that the club music was blasting throughout the restaurant... we couldn't even hear each other speak at the table. The tables are also so close together that servers aren't able to weave between without shoving you into your own table. We asked to move to one of the multiple vacant booths along the window only to find out that that would incur a steep up charge PER PERSON to sit there. Our server greeted us very warmly, he was amazingly knowledgeable about the menu and we decided to order a few appetizers while we waited for our final guest to arrive... the answer was NO. We weren't allowed to place any type of order, except drinks, until the table was complete, not even bread service. Eventually we were able to order, again, impeccable service. Once the meal was served, my dish was ridiculously salty (which was confirmed by everyone at the table), one guest's scallops were frighteningly under cooked, the smoked/grilled filet was overpowered by the smoke from the grill yet lacking in the flavor you would expect of a high quality meat. Of course the staff was helpful in attempting to rectify the errors, but it still left a bad impression. Overall, we were severely let down by this experience. For this expense we could have had a much grander and fulfilling experience at a multitude of Dallas restaurants! No one at my table would recommend visiting here unless you just have thousands to toss out of their overpriced window seats. PS if the service hadn't been so great, this would have been a 1 star review. read more

This place was okay, I had the wood fire chicken with the mashed potatoes, the chicken was fair had to add salt, however the potatoes were good, the atmosphere was great with great view and after you eat you can go upstairs to the this Asian restaurant bar and walk around and over see the city, it reminds me of the revolving restaurant that use to be the reunion town. Its a cool place to go if you've never been and want a great view, but overall I doubt if I would eat there again. We had dinner last night at Monarch. Some of our group had been before and enjoyed it. Last night was not the case! Our waitress was beyond rude and basically absent the whole evening. We noticed all the other tables being served bread, olives, butter and water - none for our table. 20 minutes later and we asked another waiter if we could order. Our waitress finally showed up and said "I was letting you do your thing." We ate with our menus on our lap for half of the meal. Eventually, the waitress came by and basically ripped them out of hands. We did not stay for dessert. Highly unlikely any of us will be returning. Very weird and uncomfortable experience! Worth noting that our group has frequented many fine dining establishments, and never come across anything like this. read more

This restaurant is a definite must if you are in town visiting or would like to treat yourself to a tasty culminate experience. Monarch is an upscale restaurant to try for the Dallas area. The food was very fresh and exceeded expectations. We ordered appetizers, my friend had the halibut and I had some other type of fish, both of which were delectable. My husband had a steak which was so tender and cooked to perfection. I would also not pass on the pasta. Having just traveled to Italy, there were some pasta dishes that rivaled Rome and Venice! Dessert was also amazing (chocolate cake and soufflé is what I would recommend). Overall experience was a resounding 5 stars and we will be back! read more

If you're young and like a crowd and a place to see and be seen, this is for you. While the food is fabulous, the atmosphere doesn't exactly promote fine dining. It's also rather off-putting that they'll fine you if you're a few minutes late. But the view is good, cocktails are spot on, and the menu is imaginative. Go once to say you went. read more

Wow, not worth the hype! 1. One person in our party has a serious shellfish allergy and the waitress kept pushing the $290/person shellfish tasting menu. 2. They brought out the wrong pasta dish for a member of our party (either a kitchen mistake or to just move the table along). 3. I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka-I'm a vegetarian so figured it would be fine. It came out with a bunch of bacon bits in it, and the waitress blamed me, pointing to the menu. The bacon is called "guanciali," I can't read Italian but if I could, I guess I would agree with her that it would have been my mistake. The passive aggressive attitude I could have done without. Bottom line: Surly service, decent but not great food, expensive check. Not a vegetarian-friendly place, and blasé about food allergies as well. read more

I love the attentiveness and the dress code, etc. we literally ordered everything on the menu and the seafood was to die for and the truffle risotto was a table favorite. Monarch is a must try destination just for the ambience and views. The food is good but pricey. If your into people watching, this is the place to see and be seen. One caution, avoid the steaks. The are good but not Texas Steakhouse quality. If your looking for a great view, this is the place looking for a steak stick to dedicated steakhouses. The veal parm is the standout dish. read more

This hot spot isn't afraid to experiment, innovate and definitely use robust seasoning for its food. From valet to the entry everything is 5 stars. Complimentary champagne in the lobby while you wait for your reservation. Now the food here will absolutely make you forget how great the views and service is. The views from the 49th floor give astonishing views of downtown Dallas and uptown. The service we had was awesome and Russell B was just phenomenal. Now for the most important part the food. We started with the complimentary bread, BUTTER and salami, this could have been an entree it's on. That BUTTER!!! Ohhh we!!! For an appetizer we had the wagyu meatballs and Caesar salad. The meatballs was just ok but the sauce and cheese made this stand out, you can use the bread to soak up the sauce and the Ceasar salad was one of the best I have ever had, it had a hint of lemon than just made it different. Now to the entrees. I had the lobster spaghetti and the flavor of the sauce, the consistency of the pasta and how moist and tender the lobster was.....just perfect. The steak one of the best in Dallas, moist, very well seasoned and just melts in your mouth. Now I didn't mention the drinks but for 18 dollars they were pretty darn tasty. The service and food here was so good I made a reservation again just too try some of the other dishes. I highly recommend this new and hot spot to any casual or serious foodie. read more

My first visit to Monarch was for my birthday in December of 2022. I reserved the window table and put down the $250.00. Considering it was my first time, a special occasion, and reserving the "coveted" window table, I expected a higher level of service. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The food was very good, but my birthday seemed not to exist. I did not receive anything that would make it a memorable evening, or entice me to return. The server even poured my husband's wine before mine. At most high end restaurants, you receive a complementary glass of bubbly and dessert for your birthday. To keep it brief, I had high hopes for this place. I booked a reservation weeks in advance for a birthday dinner on a Thursday at 9:15. Once we got there, we were able to sit at the bar/in the lounge area and have a drink, while our table was being prepared. It took about 45 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated, we were sat at the very first, front table, which if you've been, it's probably the least desirable table in the entire restaurant. I quickly asked the hostess if we could be sat at one of the few other tables/booths that were open. She snapped and said "all the other tables are sold out, it's a full booking tonight." Mind you...the restaurant is only open until 10:00pm on Thursday, which is around the time that we sat down at our table. The short time that we where there, people kept walked by, bumping our chairs and table. People walked back and forth from their tables to the bar while talking over our table as they walked down either side. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for, especially for the occasion. The little bit of food that we did eat was good, we just weren't able to enjoy it like we wanted to, so we got some to-go boxes and took the rest home. read more

Terrible service and quality. We booked a private event there and they charged us nearly double what our contracted rate was AND they still are trying to screw with us three weeks later. They tried to charge is $14,500 for a $6k private room that we signed a contract on! STAY AWAY! Upstairs room is a sham and a scam. Terrible views, crappy service and busted/broken dividers allow all the noise from downstairs to make it impossible to have a private event. Charged us erroneously for a $2,500 bottle of wine we did not order. $24 for Bailey's and Coffee. Tried to upcharge and sell us things we didn't buy and didn't sign up for. Terrible terrible terrible. I won't be booking my next private event or ANY event or even recommending this restaurant to anyone. Not worth the time, frustration, disappointment and certainly not worth your money! read more

Wow you can tell this is the "IT" restaurant in Dallas. I must admit it felt more like a club because it was so busy and everyone dressed to impressed. The champagne upon entering the venue was good and not dry which champagne is not my favorite elixir. Now I'm someone who does research on a menu so I knew the drink trio sampler, crudo, lasagna , brazino and toffee pudding cake was a must. I must say the crudo was outstanding and was one of the best crudo I've tasted. The drink sampler was good but the cucumber one was the winner of the 3. The brazino was my husband selection and lasagna was mine. The lasagna was highly misrepresented in reviews and was the biggest fail I've selected in a long time. The presentation was a A- but taste was a D+. Like folks I know this is wrong but I've enjoyed costco lasagna better than the monarch. I really did try to eat it but not sure how you put all that effort into lasagna pretty and the taste was lackluster. My friend even tasted and said it's not so bad it just need doctoring up. I didn't pay (I mean my husband didn't pay) $30 for 1/2 a serving of lasagna to doctor it up! Thank God that Brazino was fantastic but my poor husband was getting ticked how often I kept eating from his plate especially since he's a big guy who just was put on a no red meat, no pork, fried food, etc diet to avoid more heart artery stents. But this is texas with a community law in place so I wasn't bothered and thoroughly enjoy that divine piece of fish. I would visit Monarch again on a less busy night than Saturday just to dine on the crudo and brazino. The dessert was just ok. It was very sweet and I'm a type of girl who saves half her meal and avoid salad course just to save room for dessert. The passion fruit ice cream with the toffee pudding cake was a weird combo. I do have to give a high five credit to the champagne young girl who found and stored my wristlet behind the registration desk. I was with my group waiting on some latecomers and didn't realize till an hour later I left my wristlet in the lobby! The crudo, brazino, service and champagne girl keeping my wallet in safe hands is why I gave 4 stars. one star deduction, due to their signature lasagna fail and the crowded club like scene for a high end restaurant. read more

Got kicked out for wearing a t shirt. It's Dallas TX in 95 degree heat. They insisted that I wear an oversized blazer while I was in the restaurant. I did not comply, so they kicked us out. Dallas restaurants get cocky at first when they think they're unstoppable but they all find out that this is an extremely trendy city and the bigger of an asshole you're the quicker you shutter. Beautiful experiential dining venue but the food left us wanting more. It starts from the complementary bubbles when you walk in! I came here with a close friend from our college days on a Saturday evening. Our waiter was very animated and enhanced the dining experience. The views are gorgeous as we were there for sunset. The ricotta spread for the bread is heavenly. We started with the meatballs which were slightly burnt but good. We split a ceasar salad which was excellent but a bit too lemony. We then ordered sides and pastas as we were just not in the mood to be too carnivorous that night. The mushrooms were covered in a pile of hazelnuts making the dish more like mushroom flavored hazelnuts than mushrooms with a dusting of hazelnuts. The green beans were better and a much better side choice. I ordered the bolognese and it was amazing! However my friend ordered the cacio and the noodles were over cooked and mushy! We shared the soufflé which was very good to end the night. Overall I struggled with the rating as when things were good they were five stars but the items that were bad were like two stars. The ambiance helps and I think without it I would give the place 3 stars. So I settled on 4 stars. read more

Monarch is definitely a treat yourself/date night/girls night out restaurant for the typical person. Located on the 49th floor in the middle of Dallas, you truly are getting a fine dining experience when you come to Monarch. The vibe of the restuarant is extremely posh and opulent with a requirement to dress business casual or better and amazing windows that show off the view. I came here with my friends for our Prom dinner and we did not feel out of place in our floor length prom dresses. The food here was reasonably good! I especially loved the rigatoni alla vodka. The other pastas we tried were nothing really special. The desserts were extremely unique pairings that hit the spot and ended the night off well! One thing I loved was that Monarch actually greets guests with champagne on the bottom floor before entering the elevator and the bathrooms are also extremely beautiful with floor to ceiling windows showing the amazing view of Dallas. A nice experience but not amazing. Really liked that they great you with complimentary champagne to go up the elevator. We were seated at a window booth and the view was great (note: you have to request this when you make your reservation and it's not guaranteed). I thought the food was good but not fantastic - expected more for the prices. We really liked the complimentary bread with ricotta (and salami and olives) but it strangely was no brought out until after our appetizer. Was really looking forward to the lobster spaghetti but I didn't think it was anything special. Very creamy and buttery but not complex flavors. I liked the beef carpaccio best. It melts in your mouth. My husband had the lasagna and it was good but nothing special. The wines are way overpriced, expect a markup at a restaurant but this was extreme. Would probably come back to take someone visiting from out of town to see the view, but don't think I would come back just for a date night. There are other restaurants I would prefer. Note: Our waitress recommended we order a totally insane number of courses and sides. We ordered an appetizer and a main each and that was definitely plenty of food. I got dressed up in my name brands and diamonds to try to make a good impression but was still put at the bar for 45 min "waiting for a table" while everyone else was sat.
