I will start by saying the main reason for my 3 star review was due to the quality of service we received. Also I know Monarch is hoping to become a Michelin star restaurant so I wanted my review to be honest and give constructive criticism. I am very detail oriented and I believe what makes a restaurant amazing is when they care about every single aspect of your experience including food, service, lighting, timing, atmosphere, music, etc. We arrived for our 915 reservation and they informed us that it would be a bit of a wait but that we could help ourselves to a drink at the bar. We were totally fine with that as I enjoy being able to relax and sip on something before I eat anyway. We had a seat in the bar area and someone came to take our order. It was taking quite a while but I just assumed the bar was really busy and I know it's a new restaurant so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. About 20 minutes later our drinks still hadn't arrived and I noticed most of the bar was cleared out at this point. At 945 (30 min later than our reservation time) we received the text saying our table was ready. We still hadn't received the drinks we ordered but we figured we would just forget about it since we at least had a table now. I was still optimistic that the service would improve once we were seated. I have no complaints about our server as he was very polite and was pretty on top of everything but it still took quite a while to get our drinks after we had been seated at our table which is surprising because there were at least 3 or 4 bartenders behind the bar. As far as the food goes, it was very good. I think the presentation could definitely be improved upon, especially if they are hoping to become a Michelin star restaurant. No complaints about the oysters, but the miniature sized Tabasco bottle that was casually thrown in the middle was very tacky in my opinion and looked sloppy. This seems like something you would see at a gastropub or casual dining in general. The oxtail cappelletti was delicious and I was really surprised at the amount of flavor and juiciness. We also ordered the prime bone-in filet and it was cooked to perfection. The meat was buttery and tender. Very high quality. The green beans were pleasant and the wagyu carpaccio was nice as well. I do think they could find a better way to present the carpaccio. For desert we had the olive oil cake. I was pretty disappointed. The ricotta ice cream was delicious but the cake fell short in my opinion. The citrus on top doesn't mesh well with the texture of the cake. I do love that they had an array of digestifs to choose from but our server wasn't very knowledgeable about the different types. It would be beneficial to get them caught up to speed as this makes it a much more relaxing experience for your guests when ordering. Another thing I would like to mention is the lighting for the booths against the wall. We were first sat at a booth that had very harsh/bright lighting. The rest of the restaurant is dimly lit in the perfect way for a nice ambiance. Luckily they were able to move us to a different table fairly quickly and I do want to shout them out for that. Perhaps they could change the bulbs on those specific tables for future guests though. Lighting is extremely important even if your guest isn't conscious of how it's affecting them. Their music selection was nice but it would be even better if it was turned down just the slightest bit. The volume that it was at makes you feel like you have to yell across the table to be heard. I do love how the hostess and servers were dressed. Everyone seemed very put together and effortlessly elegant which added a nice touch to the overall vibe. In conclusion, I won't be running back to this restaurant. Though the food was very good and met my expectations in taste and quality, there are other restaurants with food that is just as good with impeccable service. That being said, I know this is a new restaurant and it will take some time to sort out the kinks. I hope once they have everything flowing a little better they will be able to focus on the small details to make the whole experience exceptional from start to finish. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this place will grow and flourish. read more

First of all, food is Amazing! We come to monarch for the service and quality food. Celebrating my 14th anniversary and of course we come to the place we fell in love with since opening! I have recommended so many people to dine here but tonight my customer service experience was not the Monarch I have had the privilege of experiencing. I am not even mad at the 30 minute wait out of side of reservation time. As we sat in lobby, finally CREMAY came and my husband joking said y'all late. She replied and said "don't talk to me that way." We were confused because clearly you should have just apologized and we could have laughed it off and enjoyed our night. She was very nasty and did not represent the Monarch standard. We let the moment go and thank God we had a good waiter tried to saved the day! The waiter was okay and I respected he had a dry personality however it didn't really bother us. Food was great but the beginning service of the night ruined the whole experience for me. Definitely not the 5 start standard we are use to. If the food wasn't good it would be 1 star for me. It was extremely loud that night as well. Opening Week and I was able to get reservations for My wife and I's date night for the month. This place is really nice, the ambience and the view is a sure win for any date night or night out! If you follow me you know that I reserve my 5 stars for special places. Well at the moment Monarch earned all 5 stars from the food to the customer service. In the lobby, Monarch offered champagne before heading up the elevator (My assumption; they are only doing this because it is opening week). Up to the 49th floor we went and recommend (set your reservation to catch the sunset. At the moment you can not pick your table, our waiter said that will be coming soon so... we were sat on the inside and not by a window but still a decent view). Our waiter was Conor(5 stars, someone I would request the next time we go), he took the time to explain the menu and what we should have. Since this restaurant is new I decided to allow Conor to drive our food and wine choices because I believe he would know best and he did. Let's start with the bread and truffle butter (Delicious) but I will not over do it on this because you have a long meal ahead of you. Next up the wife and I decided to share the Wood-Oven Jumbo Prawns, I could eat that all night and be set. You will not be disappointed in getting this app. Next up Pastas, the wife had the Shortrib bolognese and I had the Black Truffle Risotto both were really good but I look forward to trying something new. Main course since we were trying to save room for dessert, so I tried to go light. I had the Sole and the wife had the Veal. The Sole was okay nothing to write home about. The veal crust was definitely season well and was the better option of the two. Last the dessert ended the night on a high note. Overall excellent restaurant and great staff. We look forward to going back and trying The Royale!!!! This is definitely a Dallas restaurant you should put on your Date Night List!!! read more

One questionable item I had was we ordered 10oz Wagyu steak and 5 oz truffle mushroom that were sliced and the sliced truffles did not look like they weighed even half of the weight of the steak. What an amazing experience. It's rare to get the combination of an awesome culinary experience, top-notch service, a sexy ambiance, and a skyline view. You get all of that at Monarch. Bella was outstanding as our tour guide throughout the evening, recommending perfect cocktails for us, based on our palettes. With so many options to choose from on the menu, we opted for the Royale...wow...honestly, it was too much food! It's a 5-course journey through the menu, hitting all the highlights, but leaving a few tempting items to keep us coming back for more. The highlight: having 2-Star Michelin Chef Danny Grant cook pasta for us at our table, and having Executive Chef Eric Dreyer come by to greet us before the night even began. So where do I begin, I made this reservation for my anniversary about a month before & as difficult as it was to get a table on a Saturday night the wait was worth it! I did find the host incredibly rude when I first checked in but the manager Dan seemed to make it right . He was able to get me a special table and brought a champagne toast to my table . My servers name was Josiah & he honestly made our dining experience so great. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave some bomb recommendations. Friday night was a big disappointment. Starting with the valet upon arrival 2 young men standing outside right in front of my car and even made eye contact with me through my window and neither one of them opened my car door. They just stood there and stared at me. I thought that was odd as anywhere we go for Valet, the attendant immediately walks over to the passenger's door and opens it, especially if you are all dressed up and show up in a luxury car. Next, we were given a table for 4 instead of a table for 2 as requested. My husband booked the table weeks ago. When he called back to make sure we were at a table by the window for 2, they required a $250 credit card deposit to ensure you spent that much on food and drink. When we were seated, it was a table for 4, and we were very far apart from each other. Next, we waited 25 minutes for a waiter to come and ask us If we wanted any appetizers or even water. We waited way too long for drinks. We asked for bread 3 times before it was delivered. The staff finally got us moved to a smaller table right after we were given bread and our drinks. My husband asked, " Do we just get up and walk over to the new table, and you will bring all of our food and drinks to us?" They said yes. Well, that did not happen; once again, we were still waiting on bread; they said they would make new bread and fresh drinks. We just wanted the ones that were delivered to us moments ago - there was nothing wrong with them, and there was no reason for them to dump them out and start over vs just bringing them right behind us to our new table. very irritated. Finally, at the end of our meal, a waiter comes over and brings me a custom menu that says Happy Birthday, Bebe we asked" Who is Bebe?" and he said "That's you!" and we sai,d "no, my name is Not Bebe", he said, "I'm sorry, I'll fire the guy in the back, you were given the wrong birthday printed menu". so it was just one mistake after another. The food was good, but the quality of service and the staff as well as their appearance was NOT ok for a restaurant you have to pay upfront with a credit card to make sure you spend $125/per person. I have had more attentiveness from the staff at Texas Roadhouse than I did it this restaurant. Kids running up and down the aisles. At the end of the evening the Maitre D did ask us how we enjoyed our evening and we told him that we will not be coming back. We sat in the bar area while our table was being prepared, and it was a little loud for conversation, but the staff was incredible. Once seated, we had an amazing view of the city, and the food was mouth watering. (We were too busy enjoying the food to take any photos, but the dry aged rib eye and black truffle risotto were to die for!) We we're seated in a corner next to a waitstaff hub and the farthest from the windows so if you're going for the view, I guess you better be specific. We booked this weeks in advance and it met my expectations. We arrived, valet parked and were met with sparkling champagne and the directions to the restaurant upon entering the building. After confirmation of our reservation we waited in a nice lounge area where I ordered the Sovereign, which I equate to a smoother Old Fashioned. Once seated we had starters including calamari (a lot of meat, unlike other restaurants) & tuna tartare along with a complimentary bread basket with a sweet butter. My entree was black truffle risotto with a side of mushrooms. Looks are deceiving because the entree looked small but was filling! They even were generous with shaving the truffle table side. I order another cocktail, Diamond Noir, which was sweeter than the other but I enjoyed more. Dessert was espresso along with chocolate cake, toffee cake (not a fan of coconut, so my least favorite) , & ice cream/tiramisu. Overall the dining experience was great because of the food, staff, and environment. It was a lot more relaxed than I thought. Request a booth by the window . The view is the best thing about Monarch. The food isn't really worth the hype although is wasn't bad, however, for the price? No thanks. $90 bone in rib-eye had a bad taste from an over sear in a skillet, very off putting flavor as almost a burnt char. No complaint about the service, fairly spot on. The main issue is the customers and the lack of managerial authority to enforce standards. They state that they have a dress code, they even text it to you along with your reservation confirmation. But let me say that they do not enforce it and it is degrading the restaurant's reputation as a high end establishment. I witnessed multiple people wearing shorts, some wearing work out attire (yoga pants), tacky ripped jeans, one guy literally wearing a tee shirt, basketball shorts, and Nike slides, like he was picking up a game at a park. I'm not a prude but if others are expected to follow the rules, management should enforce it on others, no exceptions. Our experience at Monarch will not have us returning, ever. read more

My sister and I had heard great things about monarch and were super excited to try it for ourselves. I loved the sparkling wine upon arrival, and all of the food was delicious. Unfortunately, the experience went from great to bad when we realized days later that they over charged us, by three times, and we are yet to get a manager on the phone to refund us our money. This dinner was all around amazing!!! We started with the crudo and it was all very fresh and our sweet waitress sent us the meatballs. Very very tasty. For dinner I got the filet and it really was the best steak I've ever had. It was melt in your mouth delicious!! We didn't get any desserts since we brought our own cake for bday celebrations. Went for my boyfriend's birthday and I even let them know ahead of time it was a special occasion. From the get go the experience was bumpy, our reservation was at 8:30 but they come get us to be sat till about 9. When they are trying to seat us they realize that the table meant for us is still taken, so Sally tries to accommodate us giving one free drink, offering to let us upstairs later that night, and finding us a new table. The new table is one in the waiting lounge. People were standing near our table all night waiting to be sat and looking out the window. (the whole time we were waiting the table was open, indicating to me it's the last table they try to use) Our hostess had also became our waitress which felt like they didn't have enough staff to serve us. After these few bumps we get started on dinner, My boyfriend got the aged ribeye, and they brought out a difference piece of steak, we got it corrected but he had to wait another 15 minutes or so for his steak. When the steak was brought out our server let us know she would be covering the cost due to the inconvenience (it didn't happen). So after paying and waiting we let our server know Sally told us we could go upstairs, in which she replied that she would let sally know and she would walk us upstairs. We were waiting for about 20 minutes and sally walked by us multiple times so we just ended up leaving and going to cat bird for a drink. If you're looking for an overpriced & uppity spot with a nice view, this is your place. The service is sub-par as is the food. I recommend going here once just to see the view but it is not a go-to spot- worthy. They sell a "family style" method and give you about 3 oz of fish for 4 people to share. If they are going to charge and sell family style, they need bigger portions. We had a table of 6 and the food took 1.5 hours to get to us after sitting down- this was for a 9 PM reservation.... Chicken good but nothing memorable. Sides solid. Did not sample beef or meatballs but both looked terrific. Sampled tiramisu and ice cream to finish, which were very good as well. The finish out and atmosphere are incredible. High energy, very friendly and welcoming vibe and great decor. Service excellent, especially for a soft opening event. We were turned away after reserving a table for my 10yo's Birthday at Villa Azur after specifying it was a child's birthday and NOT being told that after 9pm minors aren't allowed. We went to Monarch praying to God he could save the night and he came through!! We told the server our problem and we were instantly seated at a gorgeous city view table. They made her night one to remember! We appreciate the efforts they took to accommodate us and like I said above, the food was AMAZING.
