I had the opportunity to dine at Monarch for my birthday back in August; and I had a semi-pleasant experience. We were greeted by the front staff as well as the back staff while walking to our table which typically does not happen elsewhere. Our initial server was AMAZING! I cannot remember his name, but he constantly checked on our table as well as refilled our drinks. He unfortunately had a family emergency to attend to which resulted in another server overseeing our table. He was not as attentive as the initial server; and he forgot to bring me my dessert at the end of our meal. We wanted to leave a tip for our initial server as he was the one who did all the work but we were unsure whether he would actually receive the tip or not. We decided to not leave a big tip for the second server as not only did he forget my dessert, he would not check on us constantly. The server chased after us and asked whether we had a bad meal or experience in which we said "No", but he said that we must leave a tip as that shows he did a good job. We said we left him a tip but it was not up to his expectations. We were soured by this behaviour because that is not professional. The food was better than expected; I definitely recommend trying their Momma's Spicy Rigatoni alla Vodka as well as their mash potatoes! Their cocktail options were pretty limited (they did not have the cocktail I genuinely wanted to try) but their Pornstar Martini was mixed beautifully. The entire atmosphere was elegant and soothing. The dim lighting played a huge part in this. Their women bathroom's were exceptionally cleaned as well, but I do wish they were less crowded. read more

Monarch arrived in Dallas in March of 2021, just as things were opening back up from the pandemic lockdowns. Despite the challenges of those times, Monarch quickly became 'that restaurant' which meant reservations were difficult to come by. Two years later, and Monarch is still 'that restaurant'; while reservations are a little easier to come by, I recommend planning ahead by 3-4 weeks (especially, if dining on the weekend). I have dined here several times and each time the experience is equally as awesome as the previous times. I have never experienced a drop-off in service or quality of food; the experience always remains top notch. From arrival to departure, everyone is always warm and welcoming. To start with, upon arriving, a stop at the complimentary champagne stand is a must. Being the start of the dining experience, the staff here is always greeting with a smile. I recommend arriving a little early so you can sit in the lobby and thoroughly enjoy your flute of champagne. The staff here will also give you directions to the elevator that goes up to the 49th floor where the restaurant is located. Once arriving that actual restaurant, it's like the perfect handoff has occurred as the host/hostess are just as warm and welcoming as the staff encountered at the champagne stand. On each visit, within minutes of checking in with the host/hostess, I am escorted to the table. In the dining area, seating consists of tables/chairs, small booths for two along with larger booths that will comfortably seat 4. Also, when making the reservation, I highly recommend requesting a booth along the windows and enjoy the amazing views that come along with it. Note, while they try to accommodate window requests through general reservations, a window seat can be guaranteed with a deposit (call the restaurant for details). Like the first handoff, once seated, within seconds the server quickly approaches the table and introduces themselves. In all my visits, the servers have been friendly, professional and very knowledgeable of the menu plus any specials that are available. They do an excellent job of being just present enough so that you are not searching for them which makes for a relaxing dining experience. Lastly, I appreciate that when the entrées are delivered to the table, the servers introduce each item along with any sauces, etc. to make certain you know what you are having. I wish more places did this. In addition to the servers, Monarch has some amazing sommeliers who have never failed to recommend a great pairing with my dinner selection. As for the food, zero complaints for me. For starters, I tend to always get the Chopped Salad as it is tasty (note, it's also big enough to share or have leftovers for the next day). If you are looking for something other than salad as a starter, I highly recommend the ravioli. While it's listed as an entrée, it's the perfect size for sharing as a starter. As for the main entrée, everything I have tried has always been delicious. My favorites include the Ora King Salmon and the Wood-Oven Chicken (for me, it is easily a top 5-best chicken entrée). Also, do not sleep on the sides!! While there are only a small number of options, they all are awesome. My favorites are the Black Truffle Risotto and Fire-Roasted Broccolini. The green beans are also tasty. Lastly, be sure to leave room for dessert as these are tasty too. My favorite is the tiramisu which is superb. I recommend pairing it with their espresso martini...you can thank me later. When it comes to parking, as Monarch is located downtown, there are various garages in the area along with some street parking. Valet parking, which is shared with the Thompson hotel, is available for a fee. There is an option to have your car parked out front which comes with an increased fee. Otherwise, they park in the garage that is a part of the building. The valet parking is the area that needs improving; they do a great job in taking your car upon arrival but when it's time to leave, it takes a lot longer than what I am used to. Whether you are looking for an awesome place to celebrate a special occasion or you just want an upscale dining experience, Monarch should be on your list. Monarch continues to be my favorite restaurant in the area, and I look forward to many more visits. read more

Where do I begin I made reservations for my birthday. I had friends travel to celebrate my birthday from Louisiana and Michigan. When I say this was a horrible experience. I had to make two reservations due to the large party at which I had been conversing with someone through text. I get to the establishment to discover one of the reservations had been canceled apparently a text was sent and I didn't reply and my reservation got canceled which was an error on my behalf. I attempted to explain I had been texting someone and that I didn't know I needed to confirm the reservation again. As I was talking Wheme walks up asking what was going on I attempted to explain the situation she goes on to say your second reservation was canceled what do you want to do. (Rudely )I was very disappointed on the customer service provided she didn't attempt to assist. I couldn't cancel the other reservation due to the cancellation policy. We looked online an saw it had a reservation available which could have been offered. I was so over it due to treatment and tone I felt as I wasn't desired at the establishment. Thank God for my girlfriends we were not gonna let Wheme spoil our night. After we worked it out I must say the good was delicious. I had the Shrimp Scampi Ravioli which was scrumptious and a Porn star Martini. I love the ambiance. The reason I gave it two stars was due to the service received and how I was treated. read more

The service is always top notch and friendly. But the main reason I keep coming back is the food! It's been incredible everytime and worth every penny. Let me start by saying that the place is a high-end restaurant, you may get lucky and have an amazing view, it seems very popular for anniversaries and birthdays. I personally don't know if I would come back, but it's certainly nice for a celebration. They have a little bit of everything for every tastes, and I would say that the average including drink and food per person can be between $100-$200 depending what you actually like. They have salads, pasta, and some proteins (chicken) for around $35 the plate. A then the next level is around $70, they also have the high end which is +$200 per plate. Drinks must of the cocktails are about $20. The food was very well done, super tasty, and well portioned. We all ordered a protein and shared one side, but we had already had like 3 appetizers. The dessert was just OK, I was actually expecting for something more flavorful. Service was really nice, they were very attentive and knowledgeable. The experience and vibe of the restaurant is great. The view overlooks Dallas, with floor to ceiling windows surrounding majority of the restaurant. There are booths lined up along the windows, perfect for candle lights date nights that overlook the city. The staff were very attentive and friendly throughout the establishment. For appetizers we ordered the Fritto Misto and the meatballs. Both were great, the meatballs were perfect if you prefer a leaner cut. The Fritto was a mix of shrimp, halibut and calamari, lightly breaded and seasoned. Our entrees consisted of the antelope and the John Dory. Neither of which we've had before. The antelope was gamey, which we were aware had an acquired taste. The John Dory was a light flaky fish, at a buttery taste laid on a bed of cauliflower. The mushrooms - a must get! This was my favorite dish, but I'm also in my mushroom era, so I love a good mushroom dish. Overall we had a lovely time! FINALLY the special occasion restaurant in Dallas that we've been looking for. The whole thing is an experience. When we arrived at the building, we were served complimentary glass of champagne. We headed to the elevators were seated promptly for our reservation (even got a window seat). The captain was friendly and helpful. I got the island boy cocktail which was refreshing. We were served a bread basket with the most delicious flakey buttery bread served alongside a ricotta, honey, truffle spread. Mouthwatering. We also got a few pieces of salami and olives (my fave). We shared the crudo and the caesar salad which came split for us. The caesar was loaded with parm and lemon zest which is a nice touch. We shared the veal parm and the truffle risotto both of which were outstanding. The veal was thin and crispy. The risotto was rich and decadent. We ended with the signature chocolate cake which combined all my favorite things (chocolate, banana, and peanut butter) and they even gave me a box of turkish delight as a birthday "gift". Dinner on 8/13/2025. The Good: the view at night on the 49th floor downtown is amazing. The Caesar Salad was great but my husband didn't like the lemon in the dressing. The salmon high quality, perfectly medium rare and delicious but the lemon flavor was too much for my husband. It was perfect for me. The chocolate dessert was pretty. The best parts were the chocolate moose and caramelized bananas. The cake was dry. Ambiance was very energetic but I wouldn't go again on a Saturday because of how busy and crowded it was. Service was friendly but my tea was never refilled and I had to ask for a coffee refill. The coffee and cappuccino were great. The Rest: I didn't care for the flavor of the meatball appetizer. The Rigatoni w Vodka Sauce was too spicy for me (I couldn't eat it) and the presentation wasn't great. For the price point and Michelin Stars I expected everything to be amazing and near perfect. We were both underwhelmed with the food and service. We were seated at a prime center table for a party of eight but it also came with constant traffic on both sides of the table. Space is tight so I understand. For a smaller party if you can't get a window booth which is spacious and shields you from the traffic, I'd hold out until you can. read more

I had Monarch bookmarked on Yelp for a couple years under "Date Night". The opportunity finally presented itself when I went with a few ladies from an online social group Friday night. My experience couldn't have gone better. It started with the valet ($10) which was a breeze. I got there a little before 8pm and there was no wait. I walked in and was greeted at the elevator by a HANDSOME doorman dressed very nice in a suit jacket. He held the door and pressed the button going up to the 49th floor where the door opened to ANOTHER fine brotha who directed me to the host stand. I was the first to arrive in my party so I sat in the lounge bar area. I was greeted in no time by a friendly bartender. I passed on the $22 cocktails but realized I forgot the hotel offers complimentary Champagne so I went BACK down to get it. I love this welcoming touch! Soon after the rest of the 3 ladies arrived and we were sat in a circular table in the middle of the restaurant. I ordered branzino which I had before at another restaurant and loved it. I ate the truffle risotto an octopus which was ordered shared by the group and it was delicious! I highly recommend the risotto! My branzino had the BEST flavor and the fennel underneath was sautéed to perfection, and just as flavorful. My only grip was that I got a mouthful of bones in a few bites. I definitely didn't experience it when I ate branzino the 1st time so I was taken back but understand not all fish is prepared the same. I saved room for dessert and ordered the chocolate cake which was also delightful! When the bill came I was disappointed to find out it can only be split EQUALLY! Huh?!?! My meal only totaled $84! The four of us all paid and equal $112 and I just took it in stride because I did have risotto an octopus and half of a chocolate cake that another party didn't eat so it was alright. Just be mindful of that and also if you want to sit next to the window and have a gorgeous view of downtown Dallas, that'll cost! It's about $200 per person to sit there. I've eaten here before and had a much better experience. This last time was so rushed. Staff kept trying to clear plates. I had salad on my plate and they kept trying to take it. Same happened during mains, I I had 2 slices of meat and they kept trying to clear the table. My wife had gone to the restroom and they cleared her whole plate of appetizers. The meats were inconsistent with the cooking, filet mignon came out too well done, but the rib eye was pretty rare although we ordered medium for both. Truly one of the best dining experiences that I have had recently! The views are great too with an ear popping ride to the 49th floor. Service was brilliant with not only help to navigate the menu but also explaining the quirk of the restaurant to have the order complete in one go. (No worries there as everything still came out perfectly paced for a mostly family style dining experience) The Spanish Grilled Octopus - confit potato, roasted almond romesco, crispy guanciale was delightful. The Wood-Fired Meatballs - tomato crudo, basil, buffalo milk mozzarella were a perfect match to the table bread service. Getting into the main meal we shared a 45 Day Dry-Aged Tomahawk 38oz with unique Fire Roasted Lasagna Diane - baby meatballs, ricotta, cheese crust. Yes, the lasagna is unique as it is built sideways in rolls as compared to the usual offering. In fact, if you Google "Fire Roasted Lasagna Diane" Monarch is what comes up first. On the side, the Wood Oven-Roasted Oyster Mushrooms - calabrian pepper jus, parmesan aioli (that the waiter highly recommended) and the Garlic Whipped Potatoes make for perfect adds to the already great meal. Yes, the mushrooms turned out to be an absolute must have. My only complaint, and I am not sure if I could really call it as such, was the seemingly constant checking in while waiting for the rest of our party to navigate the Dallas traffic getting there a bit beyond the official grace period of the reservation. My fiance surprised me with reservations here for our anniversary, and it was an amazing and unforgettable experience . We had the most beautiful view, and they even print out a personalized menu wishing you a happy anniversary. Our waitress, Denise, was AMAZING. We absolutely loved her. We decided to do the Royale which is the chefs tasting and we couldn't even finish it :( lol we had to take our last course and dessert home because we were just stuffed . The Royale that night included : 4 chilled oysters with the caviar service ( potato blini and potato chips with caviar, chive, egg, and Creme fraiche ), next up was the wagyu carpaccio served with a brioche ( the best carpaccio I've ever had ) and crudo. I don't even remember which pasta it was - but they cook it right in front of you and serve it with 2 shucked crab legs AMAZING. At that point, I just couldn't eat anymore lol. Our final dish was the wagyu striploin with the truffle potatoes - which I took two bites of and is currently sitting in my fridge so I can enjoy it today. They also gave us our dessert to go with a cute little box of Turkish delight and what looks to be truffle chocolate. I'm sure it will not be as epic as it would've been fresh - but I will be enjoying that all today. My dinner experience here was really great. We were sat by the window and the view of Dallas as the sun sets is just beautiful. Our waitress was amazing; she gave great recommendations and knew that menu through and through. We started out with the meat balls which were really tasty. The. We shared the antelope, the truffle risotto, the short rib bolognese, the crab special and the brussels. Everything was cooked to perfection and the presentation was quite lovely. With everything that was wood fired you could really taste the difference in how it was cooked; it was really nice! The crab was really good and I loved that it was already cracked and ready to eat. The antelope was good, very lean but overall prepared nicely. The bolognese and the risotto were my favorites. Loved the flavors on both dishes. I would definitely come back to try other dishes and appetizers. Ambiance, service, etc. was all top notch. The interior is just amazing, gold everywhere and the entire restaurant is surrounded by windows with a great view. The server noticed we didn't eat any of it and just took it off the table without asking if we were done or if there was something wrong with it - so that was odd. For entrees, we had the shrimp scampi ravioli, the rigatoni, short rib bolognese and a side of the truffle mashed potatoes. The truffle mashed potatoes were so creamy and tasty! Our favorite entree was the rigatoni vodka - it was so flavorful and the perfect amount of food. The wood fired mushrooms came out cold. Twice. The rest of the meal was average at best. The food felt mass produced and not cooked to order. The tableside tiramisu was the highlight of the night. I came here with a group of 5 for my birthday dinner, and it was such a great experience. They have valet at the front when you arrive. I wish it were complimentary like most fine dining establishments, but it's only $10, so that helps. When you enter the lobby, they have a bar and a friendly bartender providing complimentary champagne who will direct you to the elevator. 49 floors later, and you're there. The views of the city at night are just incredible. The hostess was accommodating when I told her our party size decreased from 8 to 6, and we were seated promptly, right on time for our reservation. We started off with the meatballs, which were delicious, and a table fave, and the tiger prawns, which were huge! For drinks, The Duchess and Perfect Vacation seemed to be the favorite. Our server Jenna was exceptional! She was friendly, extremely personable, and knew the menu very well. All was well up until she disappeared for quite a while when we were ready to order our entrees. I believe she got busy with her other tables. When she returned, I let her know, and she was super quick to make up for the delay. They brought us all a glass of champagne, the fritto misto appetizer (which was really good), and they comped two of our sides. I didn't expect all of that, and I was grateful for the way she handled it. She was on top of everything else for the rest of the night! Now for the entrees, we ordered the Shortrib Bolognese, Shrimp Scampi Ravioli, Black Truffle Risotto, Lobster Spaghetti, and the Wood-Grilled Chicken. The Shortrib was good but reminded me of the basic Chef Boyardee canned ravioli. It was good but nothing to rave about. The Shrimp Scampi was tasty, but the sauce was bit too watery inside the ravioli and caused the inside to lose flavor. With a thicker, richer sauce, this would be perfect. I didn't try the Lobster Spaghetti, but my friend said it was delicious and completely cleaned her plate. The wood-grilled chicken is a good pick! As well as my personal fave of the night, the truffle risotto. It's full of flavor. The sides really stood out to me here. It's rare that I try a place, and I love every side like I did at Monarch. The green beans, oyster mushrooms, asparagus, and garlic whipped potatoes were fantastic!! I mean, everyone raved about how amazing the sides were. Whatever they're doing here, they need to do the same with some of the entrees because they knocked it out of the park! The sides are family size, so we ordered one of each, and it was enough for the table. Unfortunately, we didn't have any space for dessert. We were stuffed! Next time I will make sure to leave room. Overall, I think this is a perfect place for any celebratory moment. The ambiance is welcoming, the service is excellent, the food isn't perfect, but for the most part, pretty good, and sitting up on the 49th floor is just an experience in itself. What a beautiful view! I went for my 27th birthday and everyone treated me like royalty. There's two different seatings - one was the regular seating and the other was the window seating which required a minimum of $200. Lucky for me, the waiter saw there was an opening for the window seating and asked if I wanted to sit there, obviously I said yes! My boyfriend and I ordered the wagyu appetizer which was 100/10 - literally melts in your mouth. We inhaled it. Then for entrees we got the short rib pasta - super yummy as well. Saturday night dinner at 7pm for 4 people, yes we were a little late thanks to google maps. The hostess was very friendly and set us promptly. We had never been to Monarch. We had window seating, had a great view. Our waiter was wonderful, very helpful. He made suggestions, kept our water glasses full and the drinks coming. We made our appetizers and dinner plates like a buffet, set them in the middle of the table and shared. Even the deserts. All the food was spot on, I will have to say we all liked the Salom, to quote my grandmother it was like butter. Again, everything was spot on. The only thing that we didn't like was the music was loud and not our style, but it did change and evidently someone must have asked them to turn it down. Now to date myself, they played a nice mix of music from the 80's and 90's music which was to our liking. Our waiter told us about the 50th floor, how we could walk up there and then walk around the whole building looking out of the city. Which was really nice. Be ready to open your wallet, but definitely worth the experience. Atmosphere/Ambiance/Experience - 5/5 - First, when you arrive, you are given a free glass of champagne as you walk toward the elevator. You pretty much fly up 49 floors to the top, as you prepare to enjoy a wonderful evening. The restaurant is very classy, and if you get a window view, really really enjoy it. It is somewhat breathtaking. We were seated toward the inside, with the really nice, comfy chairs. It worked out, because it was rainy this day, so a window view wouldn't have done our experience justice. Staff - 5/5 - What makes a staff 5/5? When they give you a card for future experiences. Honestly, the staff was amazing, and treated us like royalty. We were given another free glass of bubbly (big celebration), and were just helpful, kind and friendly. Great experience. Food - 5/5 - My goodness. We ordered many dishes, and I added a photo of my receipt to show all we ordered, plus what to expect at a place like this. We don't do this often, but I am a firm believer that if you are going to do something, DO IT RIGHT. What we ordered: 1. Crudo - $25 - 5/5 - The 3 different fish were very fresh. Highly recommend. 2. Texas Wagyu Carpaccio - $22 - 5/5 - Fan of raw beef? Get it. Not a fan? Get it anyway. 3. Lobster Spaghetti - $65 - 4.5/5 - Plenty of lobster meat for sure, but the pasta was....well...creamy pasta. Great presentation with the whole lobster. 4. Bronzed Sea Scallops - $44 - 3.5/5 - I am knocking this not because it didn't taste great. The reason is that for $44, I would like more than 2 scallops :). 5. Bistecca alla Fiorentina - $140 - 10/5 - What is this? Just a 40 OUNCE Porterhouse seared to perfection. I smoke and cook many, many cuts of meat, but wow. This is an ABSOLUTELY must get if you can get past the steep price. 6. Mushrooms - 5/5 - Can't go wrong with fungus. 7. Chocolate Cake - $14 - Had peanut butter, banana mousse, and vanilla ice cream. Delicious. Check out my photos. It is a Michelin rated restaurant for a reason. Will we be back? You pay for the views and the ambiance . When you make reservations allot additional time for valet, and to travel up to the 49th floor. The will be an elevator attendant there for support. Attire dress business casual or better; no athletic attire, hats, flip flops/athletic sandals, shorts, hoodies or t-shirts. All gentlemen are required to wear a collared shirt or jacket. Ladies, please come as your elegant selves. You see all the beautiful views of Dallas up here and I've never seen Dallas from that angle, mesmerizing . The lasagna, 4 piece, was enough for a large man like myself. I am glad I stuck with that because it wasn't the best I've tasted and it was a bit charred. I would've been sick if I paid for the larger amount . The broccolini was very tasty however and seasoned to perfection. The bread was soft and delectable. A nice boujie outing that is pretty cool for birthdays and special occasions but the food is pretty mid in my opinion. Never said the lasagna had to be perfect but not burnt . Came here for dinner during my husband and I's honeymoon! We put down $250 minimum for food and drink to reserve the window table. We were greeted with champagne for the elevator and then with more champagne at our table! We also got complimentary bread, cheese, and salami. The appetizers were amazing- octopus, tartare, oysters. Very elevated. The entrees were also delicious- veal and carbonara. We also both tried different cocktails that were so so good. We booked the table at 6 and got to watch the sunset throughout the evening- so gorgeous!! For dessert we got the soufflé- oh my gosh. So decadent. We loved Monarch and definitely recommend for celebrating a special occasion! read more
