I chose this place to celebrate our 8 years of wedding anniversary, while the food was phenomenal, our experience was underwhelming. The valet service is $10, which they only take credit/debit and no cash. It was pretty nice, they opened the door for you and you walk up to the building. Upon entering, there is a complimentary champagne prior to boarding the elevator. The gentlemen operating the elevator is nice and personable. I was scared with the elevator though because it felt shaky. Upon going upstairs, it felt crowded yet festive. It was dark, romantic and intimate. The host was very nice, she offered a coat check. We were served by Jessica and I was not crazy about her service at all. She gave us the impression that she dislikes serving us. When my husband asked about the menu, she insisted that she explain the drink menu first. The whole interaction was just dry and there was no warmth through the night. But when we saw her interaction with the next table, she was all bright and excitable. We are not sure what it is about us that perhaps brushed her the wrong way? The food were amazing. We would just go back solely for the food. We split a turbot and the ravioli and both were phenomenal. I also had the martini with absinthe on it, It was good and strong. My husband got the pinky ring and he liked it as well. We finished the evening with a panna cotta desert which was delicious. The bathroom looks phenomenal, if you go to the very last stall by the wall, you will have a 49 story view all to yourself. We then went upstairs to view the observation deck. We would come back here solely for the food, but not to celebrate anything special. I was irritated because when I made the reservation, they asked what the occasion is for, so I answered it. However, they did not do anything to make it feel special at all, not even a greeting. It just felt like a regular dinner night, with a server with a bad energy. So, why ask what the occasion is for when you don't plan on doing anything about that information. Everything would have been a five star, the server just really docked the rating to 1 which is why I am rating this a 3 star. Welll...obviously a hot spot in town for celebrations,dates or night out. Located on the 49th floor which gives you a phenomenal view of downtown. We were there to celebrate my birthday. In order to reserve the table you have to prepay 125$ per person which is applied to your bill, however, does not include gratuity, tax, or drinks if you sit at the bar while waiting for your table to be ready. Hostesses were not happy to see us last night, which gives a terrible first impression overall, when we got to our table the waiter acknowledged that we are here because of my birthday and handed me their menu with happy birthday printed out on it. Now food: they do give you a bread basket and olives, appetizers we ordered crude and prawns they were good The main course we ordered steak, salmon, broccolini and mashed potatoes and this is where my disappointment came the food did not arrive all together(see attached pics), I value the etiquette of dining with company and usually everybody waits until everyone receives their dish. Food was good no complaint there, I did receive a complimentary dessert which I chose from dessert menu, I chose chocolate cake and it was deliciouuuus!!!! Cocktails were veryyyy well made, I got one of the cocktails in a broken glass but the second I pointed it out my drink was replaced so no big deal there. We had a reservation and arrived on time, but upon entering we found a large crowd waiting and still had to wait almost 30 minutes for our table despite booking in advance. Our server was polite but nothing more. From the moment we sat down, it felt as though he was just waiting for us to leave. For starters, we ordered carpaccio, crudo, and a Caesar salad - all of which were very tasty. However, for the main course we ordered a ribeye and vodka sauce pasta, and were very disappointed. The steak was tough and chewy, and the pasta was harder than al dente. When the server asked if the food was good, we gave a clear expression that it really wasn't. We expected him to ask what was wrong or at least make an effort to address it - especially at a restaurant that presents itself as upscale with a strict dress code - but instead he just said "okay" and walked away. This is an interesting one. I've heard about Monarch for years and already been to Kessaku upstairs. It's nice and upscale but less formal than I was expecting. Obviously the view is crazy and you should try for a window reservation. The food was great and surprising as well. The bread comes with fine butter, cured meat and olives. Best table bread I've ever had. I could get two orders and make a lunch out of it. The oysters were petite but very tasty. The spicy rigatoni was good and my friend liked their helix pasta but I'm still thinking about those appetizers. Black Truffle Rissotto-this is a very rich and creamy dish, and from what I see it is also one of their specialties. It's not very big, but it's packed with yummy goodness. It's gooey and goes well with your entree. Momma's Spicy Rigatoni Alla Vodka-Wow! What a pasta dish is this. We had 5:30 PM reservations. It was just opening but I think it was the perfect time. The "Happy Birthday" menu was BEAUTIFUL! Definitely one worth keeping. Our waiter was great as well. Very polite and knowledgeable about our menu options. Per his suggestions, we enjoyed asparagus, mushrooms, a very light pasta, and the protein of our choice. My significant other had the Veil. In celebrating the birthday of one of my close friends, she made reservations for 8 at The Monarch. From the time you step into the lobby til you leave the 49th floor, everything was top notch! As we were escorted to the 49th floor, the elevators opened to a dazzlingly intimate wonderland. White linen dressed tables adorned with wine goblets, candlelight, and up tempo music playing in the background; I knew this was going to be a treat! For appetizers we had the Spanish Grilled Octopus in a Almond Romesco sauce that was so tender, you could cut it with a fork!(No easy task, I promise you). Wood-Fired Meatballs that were mini spheres of jam packed flavor, swaddled in a tomato crudo and topped with fresh basil. The Fritto Misto honestly, the most beautiful play on ALL THINGS FRIED, I have ever seen!(And it tasted amazing too!) Crispy Calamari, Shrimp, and Delta Smelts with fresh herbs and a pecorino aioli. Two of our party had the Heirloom Beet and Prosciutto & Buffalo Mozzarella Salads. The heirloom salad was embellished with bullseye beets, frisee, goat cheese(that was incredibly silky) pecans and chamomile vinaigrette that made the beets simply bloom on your tongue. The prosciutto & Mozzarella was hearty, without being heavy. Peppery arugula and crispy rosemary enhanced the richness of the salty prosciutto and added texture to a simple, yet tastefully complex salad. For our main course; a 45 day aged Tomahawk and Bistecca alla Fiorentina Porterhouse Steaks(both prehistoric in proportion, but so lovingly executed; you could literally taste the care and respect this animal received A.D.) Fire-Roasted Lamb Chops(baby you could have ordered this dish DOUBLE Well Done and it would still taste UNBELIEVABLE) Whole Maine Lobster Spaghetti( the spaghetti was just the right side of al dente, served with THE WHOLE LOBSTER!! Plus, chile de arbol; that was stellar!) Fire-Roasted Lasagna Diane(honey, this is the end all to be all lasagna! When I thought the appetizer meatballs could get no better, they had the NERVE to layer them in between pillows of pasta sheets, ricotta, and a cheese crust! Heavenly!) Atlantic Turbot( a seared, meaty white fish that was accompanied by a Osetra Caviar Zabaione that was absolutely DECADENT!) But Wait...There's More! Dessert!! Tiramisu with a Quenelle of Bailey's and Coffee Ice Cream(one of the most fun presentations of this classic dessert I have ever seen! It was even studded with Gold Leaf). The reason I will no longer be able to justify giving meals five stars, Monarch Dallas. The restaurant is a luxurious experience which starts the second you step out of your car. The doors to the lobby are opened for you and walk in to a champagne greeting. You then make your way to the 49th floor. Upon checking in with the hostess we sat in the bar lounge while waiting for our reservation time. A bar server brought us a menu and after ordering our espresso martinis were brought out very quickly. Our table was tucked in a corner of the restaurant, which gave a private and romantic feel. Our server came over and immediately we knew this was going to be special. Mykal was unreal. His presence, his guidance, charm, wit. He truly made a very special meal that much better. We decided to go with the Royale and a wine pairing. Before we begin the royale review, we were brought the most delicious wood fired focaccia bread. Paired with a whipped ricotta and honey, mixed olives, and house cured salami. Truly if the bread is this good... First course was fresh oysters and caviar. The oysters were fresh and crisp, paired with a trio of sauces. I opted for the cucumber mignonette which perfectly complimented the oysters. The caviar was served traditionally with the most light and airy crisps, Bellini, egg, chives, and crème fraiche. Each bite of the caviar was truly an experience. The second part of the first course was Waygu beef carpaccio and a trio of crudo. The Waygu carpaccio was remarkable. Again, the flavors complimented each other so well. Lemon, arugula, black truffle, horseradish atop a warm brioche. The thoughtful ingredients cut through the richness of the waygu. This was the best carpaccio I have ever had the pleasure of eating, and I do not say that lightly. The crudo was a trio of hamachi, salmon, and tuna. Each was topped with shallots, capers, parsley, and lemon vinaigrette. The next course was seafood, which began with warm Alaskan King Crab. They were presently beautifully and ready to eat. The meat practically fell out of the shells it was so incredibly tender. The sauce was a tomato base with their perfect amount of spice. And just when we thought we made it to food nirvana, a table side flambé crab pasta was up. The table side show was quite the experience, but did not upstage the wonderfully creamy, Al dente home made pasta and crab. The final main course was a tender and buttery filet which was prepared so well it just melted in your mouth. Along with it was a truffle mashed potato, and charred asparagus. If this were not so incredibly good I am not sure I could've continued eating. Truly something so simple to be so memorable. The finale was a moist, dense yet light and airy chocolate cake. The cake was layered with a banana mousse and topped with caramelized bananas. Each bite had the right amount of sponge and chew. My only regret was how full I had been to not eat more of this. We had a wine pairing with our meal. And while I do not consider myself a wine aficionado by any means, it was amazing to see how the selections truly complimented each course so well. As you can see, and if you've made it this far, I cannot quite put into words how amazing this meal was. Your options to park here are to valet for 10 dollars or parking in the garages surrounding the building. We opted for the valet and it was really easy and convenient. At arrival, we were given a glass of complementary champagne for our 49 floor elevator ride. They will not seat you until your entire party has arrived so we sat in some of the cocktail tables in the front of the bar while we waited. We were seated on the inside of the restaurant and from what I can see online- if you want a seat with a window, you have to reserve them in advance and will include a fee. When we asked a few questions about wine, the Sommelier came to talk about their wine selection and chose a great bottle of wine for us to enjoy. Our server helped us to choose enough food for the table and recommended we take a family style approach. Loved the salami, olives and bread service. Such a welcoming touch. The wagyu steak was easily a 10/10 in taste- I just wish it came with a little more garnish. All sides are sold separately, but you could through a caramelized onion or some micro greens on that plate to justify that 200 dollar price tag. We loved the octopus! The grilled prawns were a solid 7/10, great flavor but very expensive for what you get. I ordered the spicy rigatoni a la vodka (9/10, not as good as carbone but a close second). Ordered the meatballs as a compliment and to add some protein. Great combo. We tried the chocolate cake and the toffee cake for dessert- the chocolate cake won my heart. If you love chocolate pb banana, it's a win. The toffee cake was sweet and would go well with a coffee. The end stall of the womens restroom has a great view of downtown and is worth waiting for the stall. Also be sure to take a photo in their cute little flower thrown by the restrooms. Fine dining experience was 5/5 stars for us. Enjoyed all the recommendations our waitress gave. We had the tiger prawns to start, S. TX antelope with butternut squash purée, black truffle risotto, and the rigatoni. So so delicious I tried the Pear of Melons cocktail (not pictured) but definitely recommend if you like tequila, watermelon, prickly pear, and citrus! Ambiance was upscale and moody. We were super excited to come in and celebrate our anniversary here. I initially booked online a few weeks before through my capital one app for "exclusive dining" was the option I chose. Not sure if it's just a weird mix up but I assumed it would be great seating. Anyways, I called the day before just to make sure they had my reservation since I usually expect a call or text the day prior to confirm the booking and was a bit worried. After calling I told her about the seating but she said it wasn't anything specific just normal table seating and in order to get a window seating I would have to pay 125PP and it would be credited to the bill. I said ok that's fine and did it because I asked for the best seating there. Upon arrival you can valet for only 10$ (pay with card only at the end) and walk into the building to be greeted with champagne as you then go up to the 49th floor. As they took us to our seats I was really disappointed to see we were tucked all the way in the very corner in a really tight booth seated for two and the view was almost blocked by a huge tall building. I seriously expected to have the regular dining table with the full view of the city as requested. Especially since I had to change my original 6pm to 7:30pm for that window seat. Our server Bam was really attentive and helpful as it was our first time and we tried a ton of different food! throughout the evening we had each dish come out in a timely manner, and our drinks were always filled so the service was excellent. We each tried two drinks and they were all pretty good, we tried four different cocktails. For food, we tried the Frito misto for appetizer. It was pretty small in portion for the cost however, it was really good but heavily seasoned so some people may not like that. We also tried the spicy vodka pasta, eggplant Parmesan and then our last dish was ribeye, short rib bolognese pasta, & garlic mashed potatoes. Everything was very very good and flavor was on point. I have no complaints at all. We did spend right over $300 for the night. I also feel like at this cost and high end a small "celebratory" dessert is always a really nice touch that they did not offer. Pretty pricy but it is a fine dining experience you will enjoy. Last pointer, they print out a special menu for you and for us it was "Happy 11th" Anniversary but it was our 10th anniversary so they did get that wrong but I can understand the confusion there because I said it was our 1 year married and 10 total years together I was a little jealous seeing that others had a little kickstand to hold it up on their table, and ours was just handed to us from the server, which didn't make it as special in my opinion. We will be back at some point again and hope to get a better view when we bring along some friends. read more

I brought a group of clients--mostly operating surgeons--for dinner on a Wednesday night and was really looking forward to it, as it was my first time dining here. Unfortunately, the experience fell flat due to the service. Despite having a 6:30 PM reservation, we weren't seated until 7 PM because they insisted on waiting for most of the party to arrive. I explained that our group included surgeons coming from procedures and wouldn't all arrive at the same time, but that flexibility wasn't extended. Once we were seated, service was sporadic at best. With a large group, you'd expect more consistency, but our servers rarely checked in. Before the rest of the guests arrived, I made a point to explain the budget and compliance guidelines--something that's crucial when hosting healthcare professionals. Still, our server decided to double the appetizer order and added 24 oysters without asking, saying, "I felt like you all needed this--who doesn't love oysters?" That kind of dismissive attitude completely disregards the host's role and the clear parameters I laid out. After a long wait post-appetizers, we finally received another round of drinks and eventually our entrees. The food was excellent, no doubt about that--but when the service doesn't match, it's hard to enjoy the meal. read more
