Made an appointment for a one shellac manicure and two pedicures for my mom and I at 6pm over the phone, in preparation to them closing at 7pm. This place smells so good, and looks even better! I love the use of color, mirrors, and space, and it doesn't have that harsh chemical smell which I appreciate. I had both a woman for my feet and hands while my mom only had the male for her feet. He was extremely meticulous about his work, which took him a while, but no complaints over here! He had a different technique for doing shellac then I've seen, but it turned out better than I've ever had. There are absolutely no complaints about the work and the service! He even mentioned they use all American products! What turned my mom and I off, is when it came time to pay. We took out our debit cards and they asked if we had cash and that it would be better if we paid in cash. This was not mentioned over the phone when I made an appointment. They told us they will take our debit cards, but pushed us to get cash if we could next door. They also mentioned that next time we came in we should bring cash. I think this should be mentioned on the phone or on the door prior to even sitting for your services. This was such a turn off to my mom, and because of the way they demanded cash, she wouldn't want to go back. The options for services here are limited but they do a great job. On the wall it says they do pink and white acrylics but unfortunately they do not. It was annoying to be mislead like that, but I did end up getting the best shellac mani/pedi I've ever had. They worked slowly, but they did such a great job. With a tip it was almost $100 for a shellac mani/pedi which seemed a little high to me. Both people working were very nice however and the shop was very clean and pleasant to be in. I was walking by from the grocery store when I saw this place and figured I might be able to get my eyebrows waxed before a date that night. I walked in and one of technicians took right away. The room however extremely tight, there was no room to walk around me once I was lying down. She practically laid down on top of me to do my second eyebrow. The lighting was very poor and flickered on and off the entire time the technician was working on me until she finally unplugged it and tried another outlet. Also for $15 I'm not satisfied, both of my eyebrows are still uneven at the top as well as other things... I leave you with this - you don't want to see a picture that's how bad. However both women were really polite and kind. Due to this and taking me right away, I still tipped and gave three stars but I don't think I will be back. read more

This place was absolutely fantastic! It's a rather small place, but the mirrors really open up the space and make it very comfortable. The woman who worked on my nails was absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly gentle and very meticulous with each nail. She even made a very nice suggestion for my nail color and I absolutely love it! After clipping my toe nails, she gave me an AMAZING foot and calf massage with hot stones! The gentleman that works here saw me on my phone and offered me usage of their wifi, which was very considerate. I'd been there for a while, and he came back and gave me a bottle of water. I have never been treated so nicely at a nail shop! It was a very nice experience! The best part about this was the shops cleanliness. A few months back, I went to a nail salon closer to my home and it was a disgusting mess. I was so upset about their sanitation practices that I came home and immediately wrote a review (no one should have to go through that). MC Nails, however, is incredibly clean! I watched each person have a fresh, sanitized pack of tools opened up right before the technicians got down to business! The attendants also wore gloves while they handled each clients feet. Afterwards, I watched them go by each foot bath and clean them out thoroughly. This is such an important step for me! The only downside I can see is that the shop only had two employees working (that I saw, at least). As soon as a 3rd woman came in, she did have to wait for a few minutes. However, I think the gentleman that worked here handled it well. He set up a foot bath for her, gave her a complimentary bottle of water, and checked in every so often to make sure she was doing alright. I was happy to find out this place very close to where I live and had read the good reviews on Yelp. However, I am not satisfied with the end-result and customer experience for a number of reasons. First off, I chose a white-grey color for a polish and was told that "it was not as elegant as French" and was almost forced into getting the French with gel/shellac. I had one nail broken so I wanted all nails to be cut as short and looking the same. They could not accomplish it. At the end, I got a French where the white part was almost as wide as half of my nail and it looked very disproportionate. When I requested for a fix, my request was denied and I was told that this was the best for my nails. I requested then, at least, for the whole thing to be removed. During the removal process, I got an attitude which I had to put up with. They did not offer to put on a new polish and I was left with unpolished and horribly cut cuticles and uneven nails. I did appreciate the meticulous labor and care which some people mentioned in their reviews but in the end, I was not satisfied and what matters is whether, I, as the customer who spent 35 dollars on nothing and wasted time, should be the person who likes what I will be wearing. I would not recommend this place to anyone because of their approach to customer satisfaction. If you like the end result of your nail work that is great but should you run into a situation where you might end up not liking the end result and request a fix, be prepared for a lecture on what you should like and an attitude as if you are not entitled to an opinion about how you would like your nails to look like. read more

I've been here probably 5-6 times over the past two years or so. Each experience has been odd in some way. The nail services: Decent. I've only gotten shellac manicures and regular pedicures. They do an okay job and the shellac in particular I've had good luck with (no chipping for 10 days or so). That's a big plus in my book. But the sanitation is a bit lacking, and neither mani or pedi experiences are particularly relaxing. You are in and out as soon as they can possibly get you out of there, and they don't do as much shaping/trimming/TLC as other places I've been. The payment: The male worker (owner presumably) is generally very pushy with making you pay cash instead of credit card, even though it says they accept cards. Every time I've been here they get really pissy if I pull out a card even though I always tip 20% on it. In the past he has even noticed if I have cash in my wallet as well as cards and tries to push me to use it (though I generally only have a few spare bucks). Sorry, it is 2017. Most people don't carry around cash. I'm a small business owner myself and yes, you lose a small percentage on each sale when receiving cards, but that is just how it is today. The overall experience: The other consistent negative part about this place is that they literally want to kick you out as soon as humanly possible after they are done with you. I've gotten pedicures in the dead of winter and generally walk to this place. I ask to sit down so my toes can dry before I walk home in the construction/cold/rain. On multiple occasions they have again gotten pissy about me sitting in a chair in the front of the store waiting for nails to dry. The owner has told me just to walk home and everything will be fine. Sorry dude, I'm not walking home in 30 degree rainy weather through a construction zone with those paper thin flipflops on as protection. Literally every other nail salon I've ever been to is fine to have you wait up front and read a magazine for 15 minutes before heading home, but apparently it is a huge inconvenience to this place even though I've never been in with any other customers. So, that's my experience. Won't be going back as I've found other comparably priced options in the neighborhood which do a better job, are more relaxing, and know how to do customer service. read more

I won't go anywhere else for a full set but only if the guy is doing it. He's so thorough and takes his time to make it perfect. Always really happy with him! But I feel too rushed by the lady and her paint job shows it. It sucks to end an otherwise amazing experience with crappy nail polish. I won't go back for a pedicure ever again though for two big reasons: 1. Very rushed. It was $27 for about 15-20 mins since I didn't get painted. Also nothing was very thorough, looks like I definitely could've done this myself. Lots of places give great pedicures for less. 2. Ahhh they used the same tools they used on me on my friend!! Love her but gross. Even the callous file, which btw, to clean off, they dunk into your foot bath. Ughhh. Still cringing. Don't go anywhere else for a full set if you can get the guy to do it from beginning to end. Expect some kind of pressure towards the end from the lady, I think she tries to rush him through it. I've been to MC Nails 3 times in the last month and a half and I am definitely a fan. I've had an acrylic full set, acrylic fill, regular pedi, and gel mani. MC Nails offers extremely meticulous work that LASTS. I've gotten many manis and pedis of all kinds around the world, and as far as quality of the work goes, MC Nails is top notch. The salon is run by its two owners and they are both excellent at what they do. They pay close attention to detail and all the work I've had done here has outlasted any mani/pedi I've gotten before. (Note-- I abuse my hands, so my nails tend to get raggedy fast) I'm really anal about extensions and how they look as they grow out, so I got my first acrylic set filled after just over 2 weeks had passed. The nails themselves still looked great after 2 weeks, but I just hate seeing the difference between my real nail and the acrylic. I got them filled and got a pedi as well (the hot stones they use are a nice touch) and went on vacation. After 3 weeks, my nails still looked great and NONE of the acrylics had fallen off or chipped. However, after 3 weeks, the my nails had grown out quite a bit, so the length was starting to bother me, and of course there was the clear distinction between my real and fake nails. I had the acrylics taken off and opted for a gel mani on my real nails this time and they look great. I didn't have enough time for my pedi today. My toenails still look pretty good, but I'm going in to get another pedi tomorrow. Their menu is also very well priced, and the salon is clean as it is relatively new. The only negative-- the salon is run by a couple and they are the only two working there. When there are multiple customers, this often means waiting and idle time. If you are in a hurry, this might not be the place for you. I am currently between jobs, so the occasional wait isn't a problem for me at all. I just listen to music and watch videos on my phone. But for the busy working girl or someone with back to back appointments, this could be problem. I would suggest coming in during off hours/weekdays OR telling them when you walk in that you HAVE to be out of there by a certain time. They will make you a priority. I've seen them do it for other customers. THAT SAID-- I have to say, that in most places, I feel like they would half-ass the work and overlook details when they have a lot of customers, but both owners stay incredibly poised and professional and do not cut corners no matter how busy they get. That's something I really appreciate. I also wish they had a wider selection of colors for gel nails. I feel like a lot of the colors were similar. Last thing I would like to note is that both owners are Vietnamese and their English is limited. They are both very quiet and timid in demeanor. In other places, my manicurist often asked me if certain things were ok or would tell me what he/she was doing as/before he/she did it, and I felt like I was constantly being checked in with. They don't really do that at MC Nails, but do NOT take their lack of communication for bad customer service. They really do want you to have the best experience possible and if you want something or aren't satisfied in any way, just say something. They are more than happy to oblige. As I said, if you are in a hurry or have somewhere you need to be by a certain time, just tell them in advance so they can make sure to get you on your way. But other than that, if you're looking for a really high quality manicure for a great price, go to MC Nails! read more

I wanted to love this place. Close to my house, mom and pop shop, really nice accommodating guy answering the phone... But when I walked in it was crickets. My appointment was in the evening, (about an hour before they closed) and I would have been happy to chalk this up to a stressful day, but unfortunately that wasn't the only issue. The lady who did my gel manicure didn't take the time to soak my hands before working on my cuticles so the result looked and felt rough. And when I politely asked her to please reshape some uneven nails or to fix some of the polish she seemed irritated with my requests and gave me short defensive answers. Even those things weren't the dealbreaker though. Two days after my gel manicure, the color started to chip from the tips and sides of my nails. I'm sad to say that I won't be going back. read more

My nails are stronger, the polish stays shinny and doesn't chip or break until I'm ready to remove them. Michael is such a "gel nail artist"! My nails looked totally natural. I stopped by two months ago for my annual, okay, biennial, pre-vacation pedicure. Genetics and exercise have not been good to my feet, which are pretty heinous. Not only were the staff friendly and efficient (and yes, the hot rocks are nice), they made my toes palatable... no small feat (pun intended :-) And I indulged in their wifi and camped out in their massage chair for waaaay too long working on my laptop. One word: INCREDIBLE! I got the BEST gel/shellac manicure of my life at MC Nails. Michael was meticulous, caring and a true artist when it comes to manicures. He was so detailed orientated that there is truly not one flaw on both hands. The sweetest man too. The only downfall is that it takes a little more than an hour for a gel manicure since he is so careful but that's okay with me! My nails looked great afterwards but because they used a sanding on my cuticles it left large hang nails. I had to go to an actual spa to get them fixed. This is my first Yelp review. I've felt compelled plenty of times to leave reviews in the past, but I just couldn't NOT leave MC nails a great review. I've never had a nail technician be so attentive and meticulous. The shop has only 2 nail techs, Michael and his wife. I got a gel/shellac manicure and it is perfect. Each time there was a speck of dust on my nail, Michael would remove it, ruining his prior work, and redo it. He is just incredibly careful in general, and clearly cares about every minor detail of his work. Rather than clip my nails and risk them being too short, he just filed them down, which I personally, really appreciate. He also has his own technique for shellac which makes it last way longer. He paints the clear base coat, then roughs up the surface of it after it has hardened so that the color coats adhere better and longer. I wish all salons would do this. This is definitely not a place where they just want you in and out. They're careful, attentive, and sweet people. I would go out of my way to come here all the time if I didn't live so close. It's right by Trader Joe's and Safeway, so I'll definitely be making an appointment when I plan my grocery trips from now on. read more

I love that I can make reservations online for MC Nails appointments, because I really hate talking on the phone. This would almost be enough to earn five stars, but MC Nails also happens to offer genuinely good service. I got a pedicure with hot stone treatment. There are lights in the foot baths that change color! Entrancing. The staff are really nice and efficient. I'd never had a hot stone massage before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I think I'd like it better on other parts of my body, ones made of sterner stuff than my feet. The stones were just a little too hot for them. But it was still nice. Appalling. How how how does this place have such great reviews?? I made an appointment for my husband and I to go in for mani pedis as part of a spa day I planned for us. My husband isn't a fan of mani pedis in a group setting, so I thought I'd forgo Hoa, my normal go to, and try something different. MY MISTAKE. First of all, there were two people working and two clients when we arrived, so they were 15 minutes late starting our services. Well, 15 minutes late starting my husband's. 25 for mine. The ambience is god awful. It's freezing cold, there are exposed pipes everywhere and insanity-inducing institutional-style fluorescent lights buzzing overhead. The music made me completely homicidal - all smooth jazz and muzak covers of popular songs. The manicurist who did my husband's pedicure stopped after and without a word went to go do another client's gel manicure, in spite of the fact that we were scheduled for manicures and pedicure so. The manicurist doing mine stopped midway to take a personal call on her cell. It was seriously all I could do not to scream. When she finished my pedicure almost an hour after we were scheduled to start and asked me to move over to a table for a manicure, I told her we didn't have enough time. "Okay," she replied. No apology for the delay or anything. My toenails look great, which is the ONLY reason they get two stars. Everything else sucked and I wouldn't even send someone I didn't like here. I pondered upon this small nail salon as I was staying at a friend's apartment (The Summit). It was a nice Tuesday afternoon so I thought why not. First off, I was quite skeptical of this place. As I enter, I was greeted by a very nice man called Michael. This is your typical Vietnamese nail palace BUT I have to admit, Michael could speak pretty good English for a non-local. He asked for my name and was getting a little too "chatty", which I initially did not like. I agreed to a classic manicure, and it was decently priced at $15. What I like about the place is that the air ventilation inside was cooling and smell fresh. They also had soothing music at the backgorund which my regular nail salon typically do not have. I could tell this place is new. The equipments are all new, as well as the seats... oh those pedicure seats look so good. Their manicure stations do lack a bit though. About my classic manicure: they mostly use CND products, so I am not sure what your preferences are. But I am an OPI girl; Michael kept insisting that OPI has really good marketing but their products aren't as good as CND (Not sure if this is true). I still chose the OPI polish in the end. The classic manicure that I was given included hand scrub and a hot stone hand massage. HOT STONE! legit hot stone! IT WAS BRILLIANT. I have never had anything like that, especially in a nail salon which charges me $15 to get that all done! All in all, you would have to visit in order to believe me. Don't waste your money or time. They charge large fee but give you little for it. I always get a manicure that cleans your nails. I dont know hiw this place does a manicure without cuticle removal or even put nails in dish of soap or even clean under nails. They had not one customer in the shop on a saturday.
